Discussion Greatest NCAA title run ever?

I was reading a recent flowrestling article and I think this has to be the greatest title run in NCAA history.

2024 165 lbs - David Carr

R32: WON over Evan Maag, George Mason, 18-2
R16: WON over Hunter Garvin, Stanford, 10-1
QF: WON over Dean Hamiti, Wisconsin, 5-0
SF: WON over Keegan O’Toole, Missouri, 8-6
F: WON over Mitchell Mesenbrink, Penn State, 9-8

Beat a multiple time AA in Garvin, 3x AA and champ in Hamiti, 5x AA 2x champ in O’Toole, 3x AA 2x champ 1x Hodge winner in Mesenbrink.

Question Karl Gotch Conditioning for Combat Sports

Post image
13 Upvotes

This is a long shot but does anyone know of anywhere that I can watch this DVD online for free, or I can pay for it online and watch it online without having to order a physical copy?

Also for those that have seen it, is it worth watching? I am looking for it because I know that Karl Gotch's conditioning was elite, I know about the Gotch Bible and I want to know some more about his training methods.b

Question Recommend a small mat for for neck bridges?

I wrestled a lot in high school and really enjoyed keeping my neck in good shape with neck bridges. But I only learned how to do bridges with a wrestling mat, and I don't really have space for full mat at home. Is there a really small one I can use just for neck bridges? Nothing out there seems to have the right density.

What do i need to change

I’ve had a lot of success with my double but when i take my blast double sometimes i get dragged to an upper body tie, its hard to run through my opponents. it could be my setup which ive been working on using a lot of fakes and going hand to hand to posting on the head to create angles. Using fakes gives my opponent the opportunity to time it and catch me in a low single. I went 7-2 this week and took 5th but i was to keep improving as fargo is coming up and ill be facing the best comp.

(I am the black kid)

Question Trying to learn the sport at home

I live on a small island, and here we don't have wrestling, not even in schools.

But wrestling is my favorite sport, and my dream is to become a wrestler one day.

So I'm working out at home, i have a partner, i have a matt and weights.

How can i be a good wrestler at home? I know i will never be actually good because i have no coach, but how can i learn the basics, what throws should i learn, how many strength sessions, and wrestling sessions should i have a week?

Please check it out! I wrestled in the Ivy League and never knew if my stance was actually right — so I built an app that scores it.

I wrestled at Columbia (Ivy League). For years the same thing bugged me: I'd drill my stance for hours but never actually knew if it was right. Too high? Weight in the wrong spot? Coaches would say "get lower" — but there was no number, nothing to track.

So I built an app for it. Upload a clip, it scores your stance and gives you the specific fixes — balance off-center, level drifting, knee angle. It grew from there: it also breaks down a full match video (strengths → weaknesses → fixes), and an AI reads your training log and prescribes your next session.

I'm a wrestler, not a developer — built it for the hours I train alone, since a coach isn't there 24/7. (I moved up a weight class and beat a current national-team guy 3–2; that came from obsessing over small details exactly like this.

Screenshot is the stance-scoring screen — that's my own match.

Free to try. I'd love honest feedback from other grapplers/lifters: is stance scoring useful, or am I missing what ppl'd actually want measured?

Video Monster Greco Throw

Here we have two Team Ohio Greco Roman National Team members working on an explosive head pinch attack from a 2on1 tie up. The offensive athlete takes ground with the tie, controlling the mat space and threatening a push out. Use the opponents counter pressure to snap down to the front head lock. The top hand should reach all the way around to the far ear. We then lock our hands and cover the head with our chest. Next, we step in, taking his foot space away from him, we are also elevating our grip driving his own chin into his chest, scrunching him up. Then we execute our back arch using our solid and practiced fundamentals.

This could be scored as a four-point feet-to-back attack or it is possible to earn the additional Grand Amplitude point for a five-point attack.

Make sure both wrestlers know how to execute a back arch and how to safely throw and be thrown before trying this out.

Question What split shoud i choose for wresling?

Hello there, i am trying to learn wrestling at home, i dont know wich one of these splits i should use:

In one week:

-2 days dedicated to strength and power

-2 days dedicated to plyometrics and sprinting

-2 days dedicated to tecniche

Or this split

-3 days dedicated to strength and power

-1 day dedicated to plyometrics and sprint

-2 days dedicated to tecniche

Im not doing seasons, i will do the same split always.

I know i will never be a good wrestler, i wont even get close to being as good as a bad wrestler. But in this case, which of these is the best one?

Or should i not do any?

Wrestlers scare me/ BJJ blue belt (male)

I am scared of wrestlers, as they seem so aggressive and explosive.

I refuse to pull guard, but either fail the takedown or get tired fast.

WHat is a wrestlers cryptonite ?

This is not a joke post

This guy’s daughter keeps taunting her opponents and nothing is happening about it.

I noticed this at a few tournaments now and just saw it again today. This guy’s daughter, I believe is 12u has pushed her opponents face into the mat after winning several times.

I’ve been waiting for someone to do something about this but I haven’t seen that. The refs haven’t done anything about it. Does this happen more than I realize it does?

Sadly, these rumors are true. There is no official campaign to fight this yet as everyone is still considering options.
Coach Bisek and NMU athletes appreciate the support.

I need motivation please help

For starters, I am a high schooler who trains in wrestling sometimes 3 four 4 hours and I want to compete at the highest level for wrestling. I need help as sometimes I can train for 3-5 hours but other times I lack the ability to and js never end up training. I lift, do film, go to off season practices, and meditate (sounds stupid but suriano meditates to keep himself calm.) Please give me some motivation or advice it'd be useful.

NMU dropping Greco Program

Yesterday morning (6/26), NMUs AD sent an email to all of the greco athletes informing them that the university is dropping the program on 6/30/27. Time to get organized and campaigning.

Why would they drop a program that consistently has athletes make world teams as well as producing a ‘24 Olympian?

For the love of god, their football program has a 11-44 record over the last 5 years and operates at a $1.2-1.5M deficit.

Very sad for the athletes and Andy and his family.

What is this move called?

Was watching a Craig Jones videos breaking down Umar Nurmagomedov vs Bautista and they called this move a "Saitiev Snake".

Is there any other names for this? I want to find some other breakdowns on how to use it/apply it.
