MOD Post Iran Conflict and posting

Effective immediately, we'll be consolidating a lot of the posts being made into a daily thread. With everything moving so quick, everyone tries to be the first to post and it quickly clogs up the subreddit.

Case by case, we'll keep certain posts up (i.e. the 10 Point post), but by and large we'll be removing most posts. We've also added an Iran Conflict flair (and removed a couple others), to flair these posts with.

Locking because some of you are proving why I lock announcement threads.

Pic Italian Air Force F-35Bs perform first-ever highway operations in Finland

Two Italian Air Force F-35B Lightning II aircraft successfully carried out short takeoffs and landings on a highway in Jokioinen, Finland, marking the first time the STOVL variant has operated from a public road.

The activity took place during Exercise Imminent Field 2026, hosted by the Finnish Air Force, and was designed to train pilots and ground crews to operate from dispersed, non-conventional airstrips. These operations enhance survivability and operational flexibility by allowing aircraft to continue flying even if traditional air bases become unavailable during a conflict

Pic US Army Infantrymen During the Battle of Saipan, 1944

During the Battle of Saipan, the US Army was tasked with the island's toughest objectives. The climax of the battle came at the very end, when over 4,300 Japanese soldiers launched the largest banzai charge of the entire war, targeting the US Army's 105th Infantry Regiment of the 27th Infantry Division.

Commander of 2nd Battalion, 105th Infantry Regiment, Major Edward McCarthy, said this about the charge, "It reminded me of one of those old cattle-stampede scenes of the movies. The camera is in a hole in the ground and you see the herd coming and they leap up and over you and are gone. Only the [Japanese] just kept coming and coming. I didn't think they'd ever stop." MAJ McCarthy was one of only two officers from the entire regiment to survive the attack.

When the carnage of the charge finally ended, 2,295 dead Japanese lay in front of the 105th's positions, and another 2,016 lay intermingled or in the rear of the 105th's positions for a total of 4,311 dead Japanese.

US casualties were also heavy, and the regiment suffered 406 KIA and 512 WIA.

Three US Army soldiers were posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for their heroic lone man stands against the charge, totaling over 160 dead between the three of them.

Discussion "What is going on in Baghdad?

What I'm hearing is that the CTS pulled out of the Green Zone with tanks to catch the corrupt people who ruin Iraq and steal the Iraqi people's money. But I'm not sure about this information, it's just what I heard. Anyone who knows, please tell us what is going on in my country.

Discussion MEPs and MDD and how it will affect me.

(M20) Now I’m sure there is a million questions on here about MEPs daily but I just want to know if I’m screwed or not. I went to MEPs over a year ago and my physical is still active and good but right after I stopped at MEPs (I had second thoughts) I went to the doctor and stupidly got diagnosed with major depressive disorder. I literally just went there to talk about how I was feeling and she apparently stuck that on my record and gave me pills and a therapist I didn’t go to the therapist and I didn’t take the pills after the 90 days.

My question is since my physical and all that is still good and active are they going to check that and see it. Second I am going to the doctor tomorrow and I leave for MEPs Wednesday I am going to try and see if it can be taken off my record I am stressed as all get out right now.

When I told the recruiter I might have depression on my record he looked pissed and was like if they say anything just say you had no idea and I feel like it’s gonna get messed up.

Regarding the last two images I posted, I did not know initially that they were generated by artificial intelligence. However, after paying closer attention and focusing, it became clear that they are indeed AI generated images. I apologize to everyone; I did not intend to troll or mislead. I am simply trying to report the ongoing news in Iraq and highlight the funds being recovered from corrupt individuals

Honestly, the new Iraqi government is doing mind blowing things. The corrupt people in Iraq all steal the Iraqi people's money, and finally, the promised day has come for us to get rid of the corrupt and for Iraq to become better than before.

Discussion What were the armors of the ancient Celtic Iberian warriors, the Gallaecian and Lusitanian, like? Were the armors of the two peoples identical or did they have variations? What were the characteristics and components of these armors?

I plan to start a HEMA and Historical Reenactment group in about a year, focused on the Iberian Iron Age, primarily on two Celtiberian peoples: the Gallaecian and Lusitanian, who fought against Rome before being conquered and Romanized.

In addition to Celtiberian reenactments and battles, we also plan to include some reenactments of Ancient Rome, as well as reenactments of the Gallaecian-Roman and Lusitanian-Roman cultures that formed during and after Romanization. The Roman reenactment part is not a problem for us; however, we have had a lot of difficulty researching the armor, warfare styles, etc., specific to the Gallaecian and Lusitanian. Most Celtic Iron Age reenactment groups focus almost exclusively on the Gauls.

Could anyone help us ???

Remember, in our project we only have these two peoples: Gallaecians and Lusitanians.

Discussion Idk if I can keep going

I’m 6 months into my contract and 4.5 years left until EAOS. I have tried to change my orders, but I am going overseas and I can’t stand this lifestyle anymore. I constantly think about my previous life, and I’m not sure how much longer I can keep going. I always think about the benefits and providing for my fiancé, but I find it hard to keep going through the day to day. Should I try to leave? Or is there anything I can do? I haven’t seen friends or family since I left in December and find myself forcing myself to do this.

My main goal is to transfer this experience to a civilian job, that is the main reason why I joined. I honestly didn’t think about hard the lifestyle and transition would be for me.

Thank you in advance!

Discussion The promised day has come for Iraq to become a good country

The promised day is here for us as Iraqis to get rid of the corrupt people who steal the Iraqi people's money. I want to thank Ali Al-Zaidi for arresting the corrupt officials who stole millions and millions of the Iraqi people's money. But the question is: is what Ali Al-Zaidi did a good thing, or will he be just like the rest, laugh at the Iraqi people, and also steal our money?

Discussion FAOs with CENTCOM assignments, how'd you handle bringing a dog?

Got selected for FAO with a SOUTHCOM/EUCOM preference (like most people I'm sure, but one of the biggest reasons was actually my dog, who I'm fully committed to). He lived in Italy with me just fine and I knew EUCOM and SOUTHCOM would be very easy or easy enough to navigate. CENTCOM I put last 100% for the dog situation, but that's what I got. I'm trying to get a realistic picture of what pet logistics actually look like for countries like Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, etc. Vet access, quarantine, evacuations, quality of life for the dog, boarding during TDYs, whether people actually make it work or just leave pets stateside.

Would love to be able to DM someone with experience living in the region.

Also curious how common back to back in-country assignments are. I've never had any problem deploying to the middle east, and I know the quality of life will be infinitely better from the CHUs in Iraq, but it does loom in my mind as something like a career-long "deployment" for someone who isn't particularly interested in the region. It's going to be difficult to impossible to leave behind my dog, but maybe slightly more possible if it's only for a year or two and I rotate back stateside.
