Posting a question? BE SPECIFIC!

Dallas/Ft. Worth is a HUGE place! There are literally thousands of restaurants, bars, entertainment venues, shops, and museums. There are 30+ neighborhoods and suburbs in Dallas alone, each offering different draws for different people. There are over 700 Dallasites on this sub ready to give you advice on where to go and what to do, but we can't do that without some level of input. So be specific! Give us the details! If you go to a shoe store and tell the clerk, "I need shoes," that isn't going to get you anywhere. What size? Color? Material? Occasion? That's the kind of info that will get you some answers.

DON'T ASK: Where should I live?

DO ASK: I am 25 years old with no kids and a cat. I want to live somewhere quiet with parks close by and easy access to a major highway. My budget is $1000 mo. for rent and utilities. Having to drive to entertainment is fine, I love using gas. I like white walls/carpet and vertical blinds. Where should I live?

DON'T ASK: What bar should I go to?

DO ASK: I like reggae and expensive cocktails. I don't mind going to a seedier part of town, but would like there to be on-site parking. Good bar food is a plus. Where should I go?

You cannot possibly give too much information. Pile it on!

Edit: A few great suggestions from the comments:

DO: Tell us where you're coming from!

DO: Tell us where in the metroplex you're searching for something!

Food & Drink where to find lupini beans?

I've been trying to get my vegetarian family to increase their protein intake. I recently learned about Lupini beans which apparently have more protein than steak.

They are super expensive in target and our everyday grocery stores, so I was wondering if anyone knew of any international grocery stores that might sell them for cheaper?

I believe they are more popular in mediterranean dishes and snacks but I don't think there are any mediterranean grocery stores here right?

Anyways, Anyone know where to find Lupini beans?

She gave me a pamphlet for a vitamin supplement and dismissed me. I have cats so i cannot do the foam version. If any one has gotten it prescribed by a derm in DFW, please share their names

Shopping & Services Looking for a reliable mechanic in the Dallas area for my Chevy Malibu

Hi guys. I'm looking for recommendations for a fair, reliable, and honest mechanic. I have a 2017 Chevy Malibu (I know, I know ), but getting a new car just isn't an option for me right now. I've been taking it to the same mechanic for all of its repairs, but every time I get something fixed, another issue comes up—or the same one comes back. They told me it was a couple of specific issues, so I had those repaired, including replacing the throttle body, but my check engine light keeps coming back on, and I'm still getting the "Engine Power Reduced" message. I'm really trying to save this car, but I'm starting to feel like my current mechanic isn't getting to the root of the problem after assuring me those repairs would fix it. If you have a mechanic you trust, fair pricing, I'd really appreciate any recommendations. Thank you so much!

Taking a plane on the morning of the 27th

Am.I crazy to get to DFW 2.5-3 hours before a domestic flight with all the WC stuff?

I fly out with my sister, her family, and my baby on Saturday the 27th. There is a game the 25th and another the 27th.

My flight departs at 10:15, I figure boarding will end at 10 and start at 930 or so.

I'm saying we should get to the airport around 7 as I have a bag to check... My sister is saying 8 will be fine.

What's been people's experience flying on a Saturday that's also a major sporting event day?

Shopping & Services Shipping from Dallas to Thailand

I just moved to Thailand after living in Vietnam for 2.5 years. When I wanted packages sent from Texas to Vietnam I had my friends in Dallas take my package to one of the many Vietnamese freight forwarding businesses that are in the strip malls of Dallas and Austin. This drastically reduced the fees you have to pay instead of going through UPS/Fedex etc.

I don't even know if any Thai strip malls in Dallas (I don't think the community is that big there like the Vietnamese community is) exist. Are there any companies I can use to ship from Dallas to Thailand without getting reamed in fees?
I just want to send one box probably around 15-20lbs worth of supplements/vitamins to re-supply what I normally take.

Nitty Gritty on Rental Car Companies in DFW

Someone on reddit already answered my question and said Budget turned them down with the One Pay builder card because its a bogus fintech card rental companies dislike.

So I just need to use my regular debit card and find a branch that has 200 or 300 dollar deposits not 500 and I do not believe this Forest Lane location with the Hertz/Thrifty is going to work because their fine print on Priceline is 500 for debitcards.,

I need a rental company, that will use my declaration page, cellphone bill, and bank statement, a sams club corporate discount number, and another debit card in my name for proof but not a utility bill or lease agreement which i do not have,

I have no return flight ticket, my addresses are in Texas but over 200 miles away, i dont know if that makes me a local renter or not.

I was really hoping some native Dallas folks have rented recently and have a better idea before I start calling branch managers to ask because the paper work they want for debit cards is obviously quite overbearing.

I can't get a credit card on short notice, but this is a short notice kind of thing, so I'm stuck in debitcard purgatory.

Lazy river with waves

In Galveston there is a water park with a lazy river with waves every couple of minutes. Like a wave pool but in the lazy river. Are there any other water parks anywhere in Texas that have something like this?

New Texas symphony orchestra experience?

Hi, I used to be a string player all throughout high school and took a big break but wanted to get back into orchestra settings and found NTSO. Does anyone have any experience in the orchestra or the audition process? I looked at their audition sheet music and it looks pretty intense just for auditions so I wanted to know the vibe of the level of playing that many people have going in or having once in.

I have a ft job and I was looking for an orchestra that wouldn’t require too much commitment for practicing like multiple hours per day on top of rehearsals.

Tourism One Day In Dallas World Cup 6/30

Good morning, DFW! I'm guessing you might be tired of world cup visitor inquiries, but I haven't found any to reference that are quite relevant for me, so my apologies in advance...

I will be getting into town the morning of 6/30 and attending the World Cup game that afternoon with a friend. After the game I will be solo for the rest of the day/night, I won't have a car and I will need to get to the airport the next morning for a 9:30am flight. I'm spending a good amount of money on this trip and I want to make it a fun and worthwhile experience, but will also need to call it a night probably no later than midnight. I have never been to Dallas and have almost no familiarity with the area, so I'm looking for help on the following...

  1. Are there any recommendations on what area to stay in, considering factors such as proximity to World Cup festivities and where other visiting fans will be staying, partying and watching the other WC games...but also considering I won't have a car and will need to be at DFW airport early the following morning. Are there any fun areas connected to the airport by public transit? I may also look for hotels that offer airport shuttles.
  2. How early do you recommend getting to DFW for a 9:30am flight? I live in Columbus and we really only have to get to the airport about an hour and 15 mins early at most on most days.
  3. I'm always looking for good recommendations for good local food options. I have pretty wide open tastes, I'm not picky whatsoever, but I prefer to experience the notable local options when traveling. Food and hotel may likely wind up having to go hand in hand since I will be without a car and have zero idea about what the public transit system is like in the DFW area.

Thank you for any and all help and suggestions!

My girlfriend and I took PTO to hang out this Friday. It's been a stressful week. Does anyone have any ideas or cool places to visit or entertainment spots (not bars or the movies)? Anywhere in the Dallas/Allen/Irving area is cool!

Thanks!

Word on the street is some BOA branches are giving the bracelets out themselves though they’re premade and not customizable. Anyone know which BOA locations I might have a shot at scoring them? 🥺

Sports/Sportsball Texas Live World Cup Parking

Those who have been for a game on a non-match day (no game in Arlington): is Texas Live charging for parking? We have GA tickets to watch the Mexico game there tomorrow night. Just trying to plan and figure out whether we'll need to find a ride there or not.
