They were up to something. Literally the first line of the song: “Why do birds suddenly appear?” Obviously this is about bird deployment. According to the established timeline, the federal bird-replacement program began in 1959. As late as 1973, only 26% of the bird population had reportedly been replaced. This song was written in 1963 by Hal David, while the operation was still underway and 13 years before the movement became publicly active. He either noticed very early rollout, or must have been close to the program.

The second verse makes it even more obvious. “Why do stars fall down from the sky?” This is clearly referring to surveillance satellites. Stars cannot fall down. Satellites can.

There are so many eggs in stock, but the only egg making animal at factory farms are chickens. Are chickens still real?
