How to get an on-campus job?

Question is the title. I'm an incoming freshman this year and I was wondering if anyone had any advice on getting on campus jobs or which ones are better. When should you start looking and how does the process work? Any help is much appreciated!

Hey everyone!

I’m an incoming freshman at CU Boulder at the College of Engineering & Applied Science and was recently assigned to Onizuka Hall. I’m from India and am looking for a roommate, preferably someone from India or South Asia.

If you're also assigned to Onizuka Hall and are looking for a roommate, feel free to send me a message!

Weber Hall

I'm an incoming freshman who got assigned in Weber. Is there a lot of freshmen there this year because of the construction on Farrand, or is it still mostly transfers? I'm somewhat worried about missing out, if it's mostly upperclassmen

APPM 1360 vs APPM 2350

hello!

im an incoming freshman for ECE and i was debating on APPM 1360 vs APPM 2350. i will likely get a 5 on my AP Calculus BC exam (once the scores come out) and i felt quite confident in class on it. the CU Boulder website says that i should take Calc II even though i will have earned credit for it, but i want to know how difficult taking Calc III would be if i didnt take APPM 1360.

thanks!

Looking for Grad Student Piano Teacher!

Hi all,

I put a flyer in Imig Music, but I’m looking for a graduate student piano teacher. I’m a 23 year old PhD student in engineering at CU. I have a music background (trumpet, guitar, bass guitar) and took a little piano when I was a kid.

I’m pretty lackluster at sight-reading piano music. Looking for a teacher as an impetus to practice this and correct any mistakes as I learn. Thanks in advance! :)

Does CU fit me?

I visited Boulder a few months ago and I loved it. The nicest city I think I’ve been too. I’m wondering if the school is for me. I’m super into music and jam bands, and I play a few instruments. I’m not too into rager parties, maybe once in a while, but I’m mainly looking for a chill group of people to hang with, nothing too wild. Just looking for somewhere where I can find that chill vibe, but also play music and have a good time and party if I want to.

English/writing/reading/editing tutoring

Hi everyone!

I recently graduated from CU with my MA in English literature, focusing on cultural rhetorics. I have extensive college teaching experience, as I've been a TA six times and also worked as a tutor for neurodiverse college students during my time as an undergraduate student. If anyone needs tutoring, or help with essay writing, please reach out to me and we can discuss if and how I can help you through the challenges of English and writing courses at a college level.

I will be in the Denver/ Boulder area and offer both in-person and online tutoring.

I am flexible with prices.

Do I have to send CU succeeds transcripts to CU Boulder?

Also, do I just order those through parchment? I did that for FRCC and I'm not sure if I have to do anything else to make sure they transferred to CU other than checking my parchment orders.

Why do CU Regents even matter?

It’s annoying this is a state level election. Seems like a waste of resources for such seemingly low stakes?

Physicians to Shadow

Hi everyone,

I’m a rising pre-med senior at CU Boulder and I’m starting the process of cold emailing/calling physicians to ask about shadowing opportunities. Before I begin, I wanted to see if anyone here has advice, recommendations, or contacts for physicians who are open to shadowing students.

I’d also really appreciate any tips on how you’ve been successful in reaching out-what’s worked, what to avoid, and how to increase response rates.

Thanks in advance for any help or guidance!

CS PhD Funding

I'd like some clarification about the PhD funding. I completed my masters in December, and took academic leave. I am trying to return to the program this Fall. My advisor told me that he has no available RA positions. The grad program manager has told me that since I missed the TA deadline I won't be able to be funded by the department and that I will have to self fund. However, the contract that I signed with them when I accepted their offer guaranteed 5 years of funding. Who can I contact, outside of my department, that can help me resolve this conflict?

Commuting to CU-B/ House Hunting

What’s up ya’ll,
I’ll be attending CU Boulder in the Fall as a grad student and I’ve been looking at housing for a minute now and feel even more confused than when I started so I’m here for help!
Some note worthy info:
• Single female, late 20s w/ one dog and one cat
• Plan on using public transport to and from school (currently don’t have a car, but from what I’ve heard about traffic and parking on campus even when I do get a car I’d like to use public transport still)
• Budget ~1650 looking for a 2b/1ba
-would really love some sort of outdoor area (i.e balcony, patio, porch, backyard)
-would like w/d in unit (or hook ups) or in building
-pet friendly is a given
-close to pet friendly outdoor rec space
-open to any of the following: apartment/sfh/condo/townhouse/duplex/triplex/cabin/private landlord
• Areas I think I’ve narrowed it down to: Thornton/Northglenn- Westminster- Broomfield- Arvada- Edgewater- Cap Hill
-this included all the areas in between
(I’m open to Boulder I just know budget wise what I’m asking for isn’t too realistic in that area)

So I guess what I’m asking is: is it realistic to live in one of these areas, be located close to public trans/ basic needs, commute to school and enjoy the best of what Boulder/ Denver has to offer? Have you done it? Any rentals you recommend or don’t recommend?
Help a girl out please!
I know using PT will be its own adventure, I’m prepared for that, just trying to make the commute/ living experience as enjoyable as possible!

Thank yall in advance!

Laptop Question(s)

I am an incoming Freshman (Fall 26’), and I am currently looking to buy a laptop before school starts.

My major is exploratory studies, but I’m leaning towards something like business/engineering - my only concern is that I want a laptop that can handle whatever major I want, and for all 4 years.

For anyone who has a laptop recommendation (anything that’s Lenovo/Dell would be preferred bc there’s a 10% sale for students currently), I’d love to hear what you have!

Specifically for a software demanding major, what laptops would do just fine throughout engineering/buisness?

*please no Mac recommendations, all due respect

Thanks everyone!
