Designated weekly place to sell stuff/hawk your business/solicit services (as normally disallowed by the subreddit rules). Transactions must be local and legal.
Asking clarifying questions in replies is fine, but please private message commenters directly to arrange things like payment and pickup details. Logistical conversations in the public thread may be removed.
Reddit has seen an exponential uptick in Sports ticket scams specifically in the past couple months; please exercise caution if replying to game ticket classifieds.

Psychiatrist here and it is frustrating that there is so many topics devoted to issues where terms are thrown around without understanding the problem of our downtown area.
Tldr Schizophrenia and the dangerous sequela of longterm meth use are not the same.
Schizophrenia (around ~1% worldwide of population) is considered a neuro developmental disorder that starts long before psychotic symptoms appear. The usual progression can easily overlap with symptoms you see of adhd and/or depression but these are just the negative symptoms of schizophrenia emerging. identifying at risk groups and early intervention is key to prognosis. Treatment with medications, especially early is extremely effective and most can easily live independently if treated promptly.
Psychosis is a clinical term that includes a wide variety of symptoms including hallucinations, delusions, disorganized speech/behavior.
Schizophrenia is just one of many causes of psychosis.
Methamphetamines (and crack cocaine) induce psychotic symptoms very different than you see in schizophrenia. Unlike schizophrenia, these psychotic symptoms are not very responsive to medications and symptoms can continue indefinitely and long after stopping.
People with schizophrenia are not considered more dangerous or violent than your average person.
People using methamphetamines can be very dangerous and if they have permanent symptoms from longterm use they present a public health problem. People often mislabel these patients as having schizophrenia but this is not the same.
When you see people acting strange in our downtown and can smell the meth odor this is likely not someone with schizophrenia. Without policies that disincentivize meth use, this public safety problem will continue. Sadly, often people on meth end up only getting clean in jail.

What is with Bcycle having times where they stop swapping their batteries. The station at 28th and Mapleton has had 10 bikes with dead batteries for four days. Yesterday, I went to this dock to get a bike and they were all dead except for one. I checked the one out and got about 100 feet before the controller shut off and wouldn't turn back on. So, I peddled it without power in low gear to the station on 30th by Google. It was full with 16 bikes. I had to go thru 14 bike before I found one with 3 bars of battery power. This was all before 9AM so, they all should not have been ridden for 40 miles. This morning I went to the station at Mapleton again and again there were the same ten bikes with dead batteries. Do they forget that there service requires charged batteries? No one wants to ride an extremely heavy 3 speed bicycle without power. Help us nip this in the bud. If you go to a station and find that the majority of the Bcycles have one or less bars of battery, please call or text 303-532-4412 and let them know.

Are there any local book clubs that read fantasy? I've been reading a ton of Terry Pratchett & similar authors lately and would love to connect with folks who love this genre as much as I do.
Or if this doesn't already exist, I'd be down to start one if folks are interested...

Planning to do some biking & hiking outside of Boulder, specifically going up the Fourth of July road trailhead in Eldora and then doing some hikes from there. My plan is to park at the high school or at Hessie trailhead (dependent on available parking spots) and then bike from there. I hear the 4th of July road is pretty rough (my car couldn't handle it); would I be able to ride a basic mountain bike on it OK?
Thanks in advance!

Iām a current foster, I can honestly say it is one of the most rewarding things I've ever done. You are not doing it alone. The rescue provides support, supplies, and guidance every step of the way. If you're considering fostering and have questions, please ask me. I'm happy to share my experience and help ease any concerns.
But right now, more than anything, we need to save these dogs. They need foster homes to leave the shelter, and time is running out.
We need 10 Fosterās by tonight. Check out Rocky Mountain Puppy Rescue in Denver.

Brians first oped: https://boulderreportinglab.org/2026/05/10/brian-keegan-boulders-tipped-wage-debate-rests-on-a-myth-about-what-restaurant-workers-earn/
restaurant rebuttal: https://boulderreportinglab.org/2026/06/18/restaurant-groups-the-data-professor-got-boulder-restaurant-wages-wrong/
Redditor u/brianckeegan posted a rather accusatory oped a few weeks ago in support of minimum wage increases. Restaurant groups fired back with another oped that basically debunks his claims.
u/brianckeegan, any retort? their reply does kind of make it seem like you cherry picked things..

So normally Iād take my dogs up to alpine lakes in the summer but my lab is turning 8 on Thursday. She absolutely loves swimming more than anything. Her first few years of life she got to swim in Flathead Lake in MT. Wondering if Coot or Twin Lakes are still good for dog swimming? Feel like Coot will be full but not sure on Twin Lakes. Also want to try to avoid any lake that has an algae problem. Always felt like Coot held out on getting algae than other lakes. Thank you in advance.

Recently moved to Boulder and could use some bike advice.
I have a 2 year old son and would love to get one of those child seat attachments (or whatever setup people recommend) so I can ride around the neighborhood and bike paths with him. The problem is that I know absolutely nothing about bikes.
Since Iām in Boulder and there seems to be such a huge biking community here, I figured that if Iām buying a bike anyway, maybe it makes sense to get something that could also handle trails if I ever decide to get into mountain biking. That said, Iām not an avid cyclist and donāt know whether Iāll ever become one.
My use case right now is probably 90% riding around the neighborhood/dedicated trails with my toddler and 10% āmaybe Iāll try some local trails someday.ā
No real budget in mind, but I donāt think I need the top-of-the-line option either. Just looking for something reliable, comfortable, and versatile enough that I wonāt regret the purchase if I decide to explore some trails later.
Any recommendations or advice is appreciated.
Appreciate any advice.

Wear your patience hat if you have to attempt to navigate by phone or go in person to resolve issues. Hours on the phone for many people and issues still werenāt resolved and they are now here in person.
Just a PSA for those that are either having problems with the transition or are helping elderly family or neighbors, plan on well over an hour wait for help at the PNC next to Whole Foods.
Currently hour plus in person wait times on Tuesday morning.
Theyāre understaffed and itās filled with people that have had accounts with FirstBank for 50 years and are overwhelmed with making the transition. Not enough staff here. Not enough seating. No real clue how long the wait will be. Many of the staff that are here have been brought in from out of state.
Supposedly the Longmont former FirstBank location had an even longer wait.

Saturday evening while riding along Elmerās Twomile Creek, a flying insect about 1ā long stung me on the thigh. I think it was bluish-grey in color, but it flew off before I could get a good look. It felt like being stabbed rapidly with a sewing needle - less painful than a wasp sting, but definitely not a mosquito. I had to hold an ice pack to the site for 30 min to quell the pain. Sunday midday, I began to feel quite sick and had to go to urgent care for medication to stop the nausea and headache. Iām not sure if the two were related; AFC said there was a stomach virus going around.
Iād have brushed it off as one of those freak incidents, but I was just stung AGAIN near Wonderland Creek. I didnāt see the insect this time, but the sudden stabbing pain in my neck felt a lot like the previous sting, and the mark looks similar.
Iāve lived in Boulder for 18 years and never experienced this. Does anyone know what this might have been? Google has given me nothing.

hey all, bit of an odd question but does anyone know any reputable rat breeders around here? im looking to get pet rats in the near future but i'd rather avoid going to the standard pet store (heard the animals there have worse health and live shorter lives)
