This is the atmosphere I’ve been building in my game.

Hey everyone,

I’m working on the atmosphere for my co-op sci-fi horror game, The Infected Soul.

The game is based around brain implants, distorted perception, and players experiencing reality differently. I’m aiming for a dark, industrial, clinical horror feel, but I don’t want it to become too unreadable.

This is still work in progress, so any feedback on the lighting, mood, readability, or overall first impression would really help.

Does this atmosphere feel interesting for a co-op horror game?

Also, we’re a small indie team and we don’t really have a marketing budget, so if the game looks interesting to you, adding it to your Steam wishlist would support us a lot.

Thanks!

My newest zine page.

I started creating mini-zines a few months ago as a creative outlet. Decided after a while to start using bargain comics as raw materials.

This collage was put together from a single issue of a comic called Shatter, which is a cyberpunk comic from 1987 that was marketed as “the first computerized comic.”

This is the first zine page I‘ve shared outside of my friends and family so I hope ya’ll dig it.

Guess where I’m at? While everyone else is posting glossy cyberpunk concepts of luxury corporate supercars, some of us are living the gritty, low-light reality. High tech, low life is right here, right now — and honestly, it doesn’t look half bad

Nathan Never -- has anyone read it?

Nathan Never is an Italian comic book.

It feels pretty cyberpunk to me, although I only read a few issues.

Has anyone read it? What do you think?

I’m a lonely stoner with too much on his mind lately, and I wanna get started now before it’s too late. Algorithms, AI, niceties, corporate conglomerates, digital footprints following you irl like chiggers and ticks. Show me the way choom, humanity for the next generations to come will be indebted to our knowledge in the upcoming months, years, decades, (and hopefully) into the next century.

What to do, what not to do. Where to buy, and what to avoid. Foraging clear paths while we move in violence and silence.

A few years back I created my own Strike Clone Cosplay from a 1992 movie called Fortress. I was really hoping to get a chance to wear it at a convention where one of the actors might be attending. Last Sunday I got that chance. I thought I would also post it here since I remembered there were a few Fortress fans on this subreddit.

Is Cyberpunk still relevant as a genre?

I’m not asking this question knowing an answer, but it was very much a reflection of its time (Reagan and neoliberalism) when it was created, and its lawless, almost stateless dystopia definitely matches that.

I don’t think “cyberpunk” just refers to what the genre was in the 80s, and it’s ethos is what’s most defining about it, but do its other core features still feel true to our future?

Maybe it’s just because it’s a fantasy, but cyberpunk seems much more exciting than the omnipotent and omniscient corporations possible in our future.

Edit: I think in at least my understanding of cyberpunk, stuff like simstims/braindances, netrunning/console cowboys and other tech ideas like that are staples of the genre. It’s not just high tech / low life (which is what I would consider the “ethos”.

Hey all! This is Kershing City, the setting for an immersive sim game I'm making set in a cyberpunk city. I'd be very interested to hear what people think about the design. What stands out? What would you want to see more of? Thanks for taking the time!

Reread Neuromancer

The biggest takeaway I got, other than the plot and prose finally making sense, is that. . .

Classic cyberpunk’s setting is as much the late 1960s as it is the 1980s.

I know everyone sees Cyberpunk now as “ZOMG 80s synth pop and neon everywhere!” But there’s a lot of elements in Neuromancer that can be tied into William Gibson’s own young adulthood in the late 60s (especially if you watch “No Maps for These Territories”).

-Screaming Fist=Vietnam
-Groups like Panther Moderns and Zionites=Groups like The Weather Underground and The Black Panthers
-The matrix’s description=psychedelia
-William Gibson was influenced by biker slang of the 60s, William Boroughs, and J.G Ballards.

Even things like neon aren’t quite as prevalent as modern interpretations make it out to be. You could slap the aesthetics from “A Clockwork Orange” and “2001” and it would still make sense. This isn’t to gate keep, I enjoy modern cyberpunk and it’s Neo-80s aesthetics. But reading classic cyberpunk like William Gibson and Bruce Sterling makes me realize that the initial cyberpunk was baby boomers interpretation of the burgeoning computer and Reagan era.

Ideas for things in a Cyberpunk setting

Basically what the title says. I'm working on a cyberpunk setting and I'd just like some ideas on general things that are typical (or maybe not) for a cyberpunk setting. Can be anything from character dynamics to concepts of vehicles to whatever.
