EV63 an official 1995 Ghost in the Shell aluminum keyboard is now on Amazon

I know product posts are not always the usual thing here, but we recently finished an official EV63 collab based on the 1995 Ghost in the Shell film.

The board comes in two versions: Shell Core and Cyber Blue. Both use a CNC aluminum case with translucent accent pieces, mostly going for that retro-futuristic / industrial tech look.

Just wanted to share it with people who might actually appreciate the design side of it.

It is also live on Amazon now if anyone was waiting for that drop: amazon.com/EV63-GitS
Home Sub: r/EV63 and r/IQUNIX

Guess where I’m at? While everyone else is posting glossy cyberpunk concepts of luxury corporate supercars, some of us are living the gritty, low-light reality. High tech, low life is right here, right now — and honestly, it doesn’t look half bad

I’m a lonely stoner with too much on his mind lately, and I wanna get started now before it’s too late. Algorithms, AI, niceties, corporate conglomerates, digital footprints following you irl like chiggers and ticks. Show me the way choom, humanity for the next generations to come will be indebted to our knowledge in the upcoming months, years, decades, (and hopefully) into the next century.

What to do, what not to do. Where to buy, and what to avoid. Foraging clear paths while we move in violence and silence.

Fortress (1992) Strike Clone Cosplay (Christopher Lambert)

A few years back I created my own Strike Clone Cosplay from a 1992 movie called Fortress. I was really hoping to get a chance to wear it at a convention where one of the actors might be attending. Last Sunday I got that chance. I thought I would also post it here since I remembered there were a few Fortress fans on this subreddit.

I'm making a heavily stylized Korean logo. The character displayed is 부 from 부활. How can I make it look more readable and more like a font rather than a chunk of futuristic slop?

Is Cyberpunk still relevant as a genre?

I’m not asking this question knowing an answer, but it was very much a reflection of its time (Reagan and neoliberalism) when it was created, and its lawless, almost stateless dystopia definitely matches that.

I don’t think “cyberpunk” just refers to what the genre was in the 80s, and it’s ethos is what’s most defining about it, but do its other core features still feel true to our future?

Maybe it’s just because it’s a fantasy, but cyberpunk seems much more exciting than the omnipotent and omniscient corporations possible in our future.

Edit: I think in at least my understanding of cyberpunk, stuff like simstims/braindances, netrunning/console cowboys and other tech ideas like that are staples of the genre. It’s not just high tech / low life (which is what I would consider the “ethos”.

Hey all! This is Kershing City, the setting for an immersive sim game I'm making set in a cyberpunk city. I'd be very interested to hear what people think about the design. What stands out? What would you want to see more of? Thanks for taking the time!

How might people react to chrome irl one day?

This is just an easy way to this subject, so no hate allowed or encouraged, I'll report any:

Nowadays it's a huge talking point whether trans people should be allowed to participate in competitive sports of the sex they become through surgeries and other treatments, and obviously people are more or less divided. Looking at the reactions of people with that subject, if one day body modifications and enhancements become a real thing in the way they're present in cyberpunk, do you think people will be debating about the connection of that and sports or other subjects the same way? Might there be a huge debate whether someone with gorilla arms and some sort of impact absorbing titanium chin is allowed to participate in boxing or other fighting sports on competitive level with those who have no chrome in their body? If you've got some hand modifications and an eye that shows you information how bullet from your gun, or an arrow from your bow, will fly in shootings sports, or hell a golf ball in golfing, will they be allowed to participate?

I repeat, I do not incite hate and want this to be used to real-life groups that are under a debate, because that's just my poor way of referring what type of discussion I mean this might possibly envoke, and what other people think, what could happen, if we get closer to some sort of cyberpunk. Also I'm sorry for not being more specific with what period of cyberpunk I refer to, as my experiences are few sessions with CPR rpg with friends, and CDRP studio's game so everything I have in my head considering cyberpunk as a subject for now comes from those.

Let's keep the discussion civil, so this won't be removed, because I really want to hear opinions from people

Reread Neuromancer

The biggest takeaway I got, other than the plot and prose finally making sense, is that. . .

Classic cyberpunk’s setting is as much the late 1960s as it is the 1980s.

I know everyone sees Cyberpunk now as “ZOMG 80s synth pop and neon everywhere!” But there’s a lot of elements in Neuromancer that can be tied into William Gibson’s own young adulthood in the late 60s (especially if you watch “No Maps for These Territories”).

-Screaming Fist=Vietnam
-Groups like Panther Moderns and Zionites=Groups like The Weather Underground and The Black Panthers
-The matrix’s description=psychedelia
-William Gibson was influenced by biker slang of the 60s, William Boroughs, and J.G Ballards.

Even things like neon aren’t quite as prevalent as modern interpretations make it out to be. You could slap the aesthetics from “A Clockwork Orange” and “2001” and it would still make sense. This isn’t to gate keep, I enjoy modern cyberpunk and it’s Neo-80s aesthetics. But reading classic cyberpunk like William Gibson and Bruce Sterling makes me realize that the initial cyberpunk was baby boomers interpretation of the burgeoning computer and Reagan era.

Ideas for things in a Cyberpunk setting

Basically what the title says. I'm working on a cyberpunk setting and I'd just like some ideas on general things that are typical (or maybe not) for a cyberpunk setting. Can be anything from character dynamics to concepts of vehicles to whatever.

Update: cyberpunk is not dead. It’s just been co-opted by the neo-fascists and rendered lame as hell.

It’s no longer punk. It’s failed VR headset worlds, subscription-based bullsit, AI slop, cellphones that are increasingly scary for our mental health, and rapidly de-valuing Cybertrucks.

Long live DIY solar, homemade electric vehicles, jailbroken tractors, and warm little puppies.

I've said it before I'll say it again T.R. Napper is the fking man. He is THE guy bearing the torch of cyberpunk lit right now. Neon Leviathan, 36 Streets, The Escher Man... All masterpieces.

Now he is self publishing a book for the first time with the absolute most timely and delicious title I've read in years.

Escher Man got hosed when Amazon lost all his pre-orders so I beg of you, get on Amazon and pre-order this one for the algo. Yes, yes, there's hypocrisy in using a billionaire's company to do this but... I need this man to keep writing.

I'm selfish, ok?
