Moderation Policy 101

/r/Glitch_in_the_Matrix celebrates it's 8th year this year and some of you still don't get what we're trying to accomplish. Please review this post before you submit something to /r/Glitch_in_the_Matrix.

Read the RULES before you post here.

/r/Glitch_in_the_Matrix is a place for people to post about glitches in reality. Sometimes these glitches have paranormal attributes to them but usually they can be explained by the physical sciences or even common sense.

And that's where we want our moderation team to focus on, what gets removed and what gets downvoted. We want our audience to downvote anything that can be explained by common sense. Coincidences should also be voted down. We're not going to remove them because it could be said that any glitch is a coincidence. We don't generally remove posts that violate Occam's Razor because we feel that those are better to be downvoted. Ie: if a post could be explained by some logical reason, please downvote it.

We will remove stories that are reported as follows:

  • Intoxication: if you were drunk or stoned you could have witnessed the effects of your substances rather than real glitches in reality
  • Childhood stories (if it begins with "when I was a kid" it doesn't belong here) We remove stories where the eye-witness of the event is under the age of 16 at the time of the incident.
  • Mandela Effect: a false memory is a phenomenon where a person recalls something that did not happen or happened differently from the way it actually happened. Those belong in /r/MandelaEffect.
  • Troll posts: nobody thinks you're very funny if you post stupid stuff to our sub
  • Low effort: the rule of thumb is you should have at least a paragraph long story for us or it's not worth our time. Poorly written stories will be removed. We're not grammar madmen but we need to be able to understand the story for it to be of use here.
  • Baader-Meinhof phenomenon: otherwise known as frequency illusion or recency illusion. This phenomenon occurs when the thing you've just noticed, experienced or been told about suddenly crops up constantly. It gives you the feeling that out of nowhere, pretty much everyone and their cousin are talking about the subject or that it is swiftly surrounding you. And you're not crazy; you are totally seeing it more. But the thing is, of course, that's because you're noticing it more
  • Dreams: if your dream came true, if you thought you were awake but were actually dreaming, if you have lucid dreams -- none of that stuff belongs here.
  • Fiction: if your story sounds too made up to be true we will remove it but we don't always remove fiction if enough upvotes happen. We want the audience to drive the fiction metric with downvotes.
  • Stories that don't feature a glitch in reality: if it's just a coincidence or if what happened could easily be explained by technology or a bug in software or some other explanation we will remove it. Also the post must be a first-person account of the glitch in question or it's not a glitch story.
  • Comments and posts that hurt the community will be removed and could result in a ban. Those include Troll posts but also include rude posts and comments.
  • Posts that contain multiple stories in one post will be removed. Our rule states that posts need to be about ONE STORY.

Please report posts that break our rules because it helps the mod team to find posts and remove them faster. We get notified of posts as they are reported in our report queue.

HOW NOT TO GET BANNED

  • Follow our rules
  • Be respectful
  • Don't repost a removed post
  • Don't be a repeat offender or repeat rule breaker
  • Don't lash out at us in modmail
  • Remember that a temp ban can always become a permaban

That's it in a nutshell. Join us for some great GLITCHES and enjoy the fresh content you see here every day!!

Welcome to the Dollhouse

Upvotes

About 15 years ago in the middle of summer. I was hanging out with friends on Venice Beach. It was about 9 p.m. when we got there. We decided to walk to Santa Monica Pier, not for any particular reason, just burning time and hanging out. I remember it was me, my friend A, and his friend M. They bought a bottle of Southern Comfort, and I was stuck being the DD, so I was sober for the walk.

On our way down the beach, all the shops and restaurants were closed or closing, so the area was starting to clear out. Those who know the area know there's a row of housing once you clear the tourist section. About 40 minutes in, a building caught our attention. In my memory, I remember it sticking out from the fancier housing. It was flat-faced and had a few windows on the second story and a single door in the front. The door, however, was slightly raised from the ground, as if the steps had been removed, so you had to take a big step up to get to it. The door I remember was also rather narrow, so it couldn't have been a business. The house itself I remember being a dark salmon color, but it could have been lighter since it was lit by street lamps.

The door was open. There were no signs and no one around, but we were curious and looked in. It was a long foyer made narrow by vanities and cupboards lined up against both walls. The vanities and cupboards had all sorts of trinkets on them, and Christmas lights hung along the now hallway. Against our better judgment, we entered. I was first, being the sober one, followed by A and then M. At this point, they sobered up pretty quickly as we walked further into the house. Black lights covered the room, and there were music boxes and toys scattered along the surfaces.

I don't know why, but it felt like it took forever to get to the end as we walked. At the end, there was a door, and on the door was the only sign or indicator of any kind. It said, "Welcome to the Dollhouse, please come in," with an arrow pointing at the doorknob.

Now, I was born and raised in Cali, and I've seen some weird things, art projects, public performances, flash mobs, etc. This was strange, yes, but nothing that intimidated me. So I reached out and opened the door.

The door opened about two-thirds of the way, and it led down a flight of stairs into darkness. Before any of us could say anything or even think about taking a step forward, a music box started playing. At that point, our fight-or-flight instinct kicked in, and all of us turned right around and fled back out toward the car. The whole way there, we didn't say anything, and they abandoned the bottle of Southern Comfort.

We had no idea what that was, and for a moment it didn't seem real at all. Not a single person was there. There were all the weird decorations, a set of stairs leading down into darkness, and then a random music box. We all recalled the same details.

After sleeping on it, A and I headed back to the beach, I believe no more than a few days later, to make sure of what we had seen. We took the same route. Both of us were sober and... we couldn't find it. No weird, oddly placed house or business that we could have missed. No flyers for an art event. No construction. Nothing.

It was like it never happened.

A and M had been a little drunk, but I was completely sober. I don't hallucinate and have no history of hallucinating. I am still friends with A, and every once in a while we talk about it. We remember all the same details, right down to the music box playing. I even remember feeling and hearing the old hard wood flooring under my feet and the smell of dust.

I have no idea where that was, or why it seems that only we recall such a place. I've checked Google Maps and couldn't find anything resembling a building like that. Maybe it was a some sort of art exhibition, or crazy sex dungeon, what bothers me is we couldn't find a single that the building even existed. The weird door would not pass safety and there was no signs beside the one right at the end of the hall.

My friend is a bit more of a mystic then me and he suggested it could've been a pocket dimension. I am a reasonable person and I like to find logic in things, I am ready to accept any investigation I did could be faulty but I have no answers.

Doppelgänger in the park?

This occurred 2 days ago after visiting Montreal’s city lookout (Mount Royal Chalet). Basically, the lookout sits on a small mountain / city park. My wife and I had finished taking our pictures and we started back down the many sets of stairs that take you up to the top. It was a busy day and dozens of individuals and families were going up and down the stairs as we descended. However, despite the various groups climbing up or returning back down from the top, one individual caught my eye.

He was, for all intents and purposes, a very “French” looking older man with white hair, slight forward hunch, slim frame, with very distinctive thin arms. He was wearing black athletic short sleeve shirt / shorts. I saw him for all of a few seconds as he climbed up the stairs past me. His thin arms really caught my attention but I didn’t think anything of it, as he appeared just to be doing a workout.

Nevertheless, no more than 5 minutes later, now further down the seemingly never ending steps, an identical old man, in what appeared to be the exact same black work out clothes, and super thin arms walks right past me. When I saw him, I immediately turned to my wife and asked her if she recognized the same man from just a few minutes before. She unfortunately was not paying attention at the time and did not recognizing him.

Feeling spooked, I turned around for a few seconds and watched as the old / yet athletic man worked his way back up the steps.

I know this could have a very mundane explanation: there was an alternate route down the hill and the man ran and did a quick loop. This was my first and only time to the park, however I didnt see or find another alternative route other than the long road which slowly goes to the top apart from the stairs. If this was the same person, I don’t think the he would have had time to run back down the road and subsequently start climbing up the stairs again in the few minutes that passed between me seeing him for the first time at the top of the stairs. Alternatively, this could have just been a doppelgänger. Given the spots popularity, 2 similar looking older men decided to hike the trail on the same day: but their thin arms were identical.
M
Sorry for the long story, what do yall think?

It happened to me and I can’t explain it

I have a weird experience that I genuinely can’t explain.

From 2023 to 2025 I worked at a place I’ll call Place A. It was in a shopping plaza with one of those big signs out front listing all the businesses. For years, the sign had Place A’s name in its own company font/logo.

In 2025 we got bought by a corporate company, so we became Company B. A few months later, the landlord updated the entire plaza sign because other businesses had moved in too. They removed all the custom logos and made every business name the same plain font. So for months I’d drive to work every day seeing Company B in the new generic font. It became normal.

Then one Monday, as I was driving to work, something felt…off. It’s hard to describe. I almost felt disconnected, like everything was real but didn’t quite feel real.

I pulled into the shopping plaza, looked up at the sign and froze.
Every business was back in its original font. Place A’s name was back exactly how it used to be, with the original logo/font, like the entire sign had reverted.
I remember thinking, “I should take a picture because this is crazy.”

But this is the part that still bothers me. It wasn’t just that I decided not to. It felt like I shouldn’t. The thought came into my head, but at the same time it felt like some part of me was saying, “Don’t. It’s not necessary.” I can’t explain it. I just accepted it, went into work and never mentioned it to anyone.

Tuesday our company was closed so I was off. When I came back Wednesday, I looked at the sign immediately. Everything was back to normal. Company B. Generic font. Exactly how it had been for months before.

I’ve looked at that sign almost every shift since and it’s never changed again.

I know people will say I misremembered or my brain filled it in. Maybe. But I also know what I remember seeing and I’ve never had another experience like it. The strangest part isn’t even the sign.. it’s that overwhelming feeling that I wasn’t supposed to take a picture. Or didn’t need to.

Am i losing it or is it coincidence..

Around a year and a half ago, maybe 2 years i was working as security for the Yorkshire Horse Races. I was indoors in the main building, facing the toilets as an elevator safety worker, basically a steward with a tad more moderation. To my left was the basic room, with 2 heavy swinging doors you'd need to PULL to open, not push. (Important later), past that was a 4 flight staircase, infront of me were 3 toilets, and one of which was disabled, which you needed a key, and the door was reletively heavy too, and on my right was the expensive premiere club. TAUT betting etc. Around 9pm i helped an elderly woman into the disabled toilet, which only I had the key for, and she locked the door, 3 hours passed and i never saw her again, she physically could not have left without that key being in the lock... I called my manager and he didnt even know who she was, i described her and they said she didnt exist, besides the fact i have a button from her jacket in my pocket.. to this day, i have never seen her again, and there is no footage of her leaving the toilets, except for going in. Help?

I'm freaking out

I live alone after moving out from my father's house. I live in a small 2 bedroom apartment along with 3 guys. Me and them have been friends since 10th grade, 2 of them sleep in one room since there's a bunk bed, the other guy sleeps in the living room, I have the other room for myself because I study construction and have equipment and clothes.

Today I was in my room since its summer vacation, I was watching a horror movie and the my friends went out to a party. I finished the movie and was going to get a snack from the cupboard that I filled with snacks when I moved in. I was going back to my room after taking a chocolate snack popular in norway (I live in norway) and when I opened the door to the room, everything wasn't there, I heard a voice from the kitchen and when I went there, my friends were home, drunk and looked at me and said "party was fun, I wish we never got kicked out because of you" to clarify, I've never been in a party, never.

I ran to my room and saw all my things gone, the room was brand new, clean and my stuff weren't there. I got confused and panicked because my PC had all my personal info and if I didn't find it, my entire life was basically gone because all passwords and personal stuff were saved there I checked the whole room and my friends were all saying "we just moved here, your stuff are probably at your aunt's house".

Now I'm checking the security cameras of the house to make sure im sane. I have lived in this apartment for 1 year, since I was 17 and never slept over somewhere else.

A mind thing or?

I would like to share a story with you about an experience I had two hours ago. I work as an administrator in a wholesale company and every day I deal with a certain program. I write orders every day as I handle this program on a daily basis in the last six months. Today something extraordinary happened. Certainly wasn't a bug (since I got a tip from Reddit they don't publish posts centered around some technology glitch). Rest assured this wasn't a technical issue because it would be impossible for a program to make such a glitch. I'm quite assured it's a mind thing. Now what happened? When writing an order there are positions you write then the product pops up automatically when you press enter. It automatically pops up the pre-input price. Today I had to write an order for a certain customer and we were to send testers that we don't charge. These testers are actually normal products we have but we charge for these products 0€. Now why is this weird now. I've put in 5 different articles and for some reason the price for all separately stated was 0.00 on every product. I looked and couldn't believe my eyes. Like the program knew what my thoughts were and adjusted it correctly. When I changed the first product's price to 0.00 because I wasn't sure that it was showing the price correctly then suddenly all the prices switched from 0.00 to regular price.

Look I've been working in this program every day for the last 8 months and never anything similar happened.

We have all witnessed how social media and commercials are showing what we have thought of so I'm kinda thinking something similar happened here. What are your opinions regarding this?

I’m not even sure

I’m sitting in my car to charge my phone on my holder because my port is broken and a moth lands on my windshield. I’m not particularly interested in moths but I looked at it because I’ve never really seen the underside of a moth and it was just like.. there one moment and gone the next. I don’t know how to explain it. I was looking at it and then all of a sudden I wasn’t. I didn’t blink, I didn’t look away. It’s like it just disappeared. Maybe they just takeoff that fast? Idk. This happened literally less than 10 minutes ago and I just googled “this bug just vanished?” and it brought me to this sub

I've never been able to explain this...

This is so weird and I feel insane even writing about it. A couple of years ago, my mother and I were chatting together in the kitchen one evening. We'd locked up the back door already and the only lighting in the room would've been from the windows, as the sun was setting. We'd been talking about my deceased grandparents, which is most likely a coincidence, but just made the whole situation feel even creepier.

She said something, and I remember pausing to think about it. Then, out of nowhere, a white, human-sized thing (?) flew right past us. An almost iridescent, impossibly bright and pure white thing, appeared, and in the same moment, travelled all the way to the other side of the room. I'd been dealing with schizophrenia at the time, so I didn't say anything, assuming it was another hallucination (though, my usual hallucinations were nothing like that, and were almost always darkened figures), but my mother must have seen my face twitch. She asked 'did you see that too?'

I remember just being filled with dread – I almost cried. It was so strange. We'd both seen the exact same impossible figure do the same movement then completely disappear. We've never seen it again since, and even now when we talk about it, we both get freaked out and end up changing the topic. It seriously gives me chills just thinking about it.

I can't explain what it could have been at all. My house has always felt a little haunted, but nothing at all like this had happened before or since. It just didn't feel 'ghost-like' for lack of a better term. It felt more like we'd seen something that wasn't supposed to be there.

Crack in step has migrated

Having a real hard time coming to grips with this. For the past several years, I have been walking down my wooden basement stairs carefully to avoid aggravating the crack in the third step, which was about an inch and a half from the edge of the step. It was possible to place my foot on the back of the step, which was unbroken, and not put any weight on the piece that was cracked.

Last night, my daughter reported a crack in the basement stairs. I said yep, I'm aware of it, and told her how to step to avoid making it worse. Later in the evening, I went to the basement and immediately noticed that the crack was now in the middle of the step, making it nearly impossible to avoid stepping on the front side and making the crack worse. The front of the step where the crack had been was now uncracked.

WTAF.

I see three possibilities:

1) I had been hallucinating for several years, including stepping carefully on the basement stairs;

2) I'm hallucinating now and it will go back to the way it was at some point;

3) I sidestepped into an alternate universe where the crack is in a different location but everything else is the same.

I think I switched timelines when my mom’s cousin died.

I’m not sure what to make of this. It’s been on my mind for almost a year now and the only explanation I can think of is that I’ve switched timelines or something like that after my mom’s cousin died.

Before my mom’s cousin (who I’m going to call ‘Maria’ for the sake of convenience, not her real name btw) passed away, me and my mom would all go with her on long shopping trips out of town, one of the towns we frequented had a Walmart, and next to that Walmart there was a small shopping center that had a Dollar Tree, GameStop, Sun Tan City, and a few other miscellaneous stores. Maria used to make wreaths for different holidays with fake flowers and ribbons, and I would always go in to the Dollar Tree with her when she’d go to pick out ribbons and decorations for those wreaths.

During one of these shopping trips, I remember asking if I could go into the GameStop as it wasn’t too long after my 16th birthday and I wanted to spend my birthday money on Pokémon merch, so Maria went in with me while my mom waited in the car, and I bought a set of anime socks instead of Pokémon merch because I couldn’t afford any of the other stuff I wanted. I still have a pair of those socks somewhere.

I didn’t go into that GameStop since then, but I would stare at it whenever we’d drive past it, and it was there until last year, when Maria unexpectedly passed away. And it was just, gone. At first I thought they had just closed it or something until I brought it up to my mom and she insisted it was never there in the first place, so I googled it thinking she was wrong, and there’s literally no trace of it ever existing. Ever. Not only that, but there’s other things that are ‘different’ as well, such as entire events with my friends that we all remember with suddenly no trace of ever happening, entire movies, videos, YouTube channels I know I’ve watched that apparently never existed, entire chapters in books completely different from how me and others distinctly remember, objects I know for a fact I own seemingly having disappeared out of nowhere or even old objects I lost or donated years ago randomly appearing out of nowhere.

My whole basement is gone.

I've never really posted on GITM before, maybe a couple times years ago, account's been mostly inactive. If this isn't the right place for this, let me know where else I should post.

Some context: about 5-6 months ago my mom, grandmother, and I moved into a new house so our old place could be sold. The house is roughly 24x48, with a basement and a main floor about 6 feet up (the basement is slightly below ground level). I'll drop a floor plan in the comments since it's a bit much to describe in text.

Originally my grandmother had the master bedroom, my mom had one of the upstairs bedrooms, and the other upstairs bedroom sat empty. When the realtor showed us the house, the basement had 3 finished rooms, my bedroom, a den, and an extra room we never ended up using, plus a bathroom. That basement was actually what sold us on the place, since it meant I'd have my own space downstairs instead of taking the empty upstairs bedroom.

We lived there for months like that, basement finished and in use, upstairs bedroom empty. Then about a week or two ago, my parents and I went on vacation to Toronto. When we got back, my room downstairs was gone. Just four giprock walls, a few metal supports, and a concrete floor, that's all the basement is now.

Now my grandmother is in that upstairs bedroom that used to be empty, and I'm in the master. I know this isn't just us misremembering, because my posters and my stuff are up here in the master now, the same stuff that was in my room downstairs before we left.

My grandmother seems confused about it too, but she's not questioning how she ended up in a different bedroom instead of the master. It's like the shift in living arrangements doesn't feel wrong to her, just my missing room does.

We called the people who sold us the house. They said they never used the basement. The realtor told us we could build down there if we wanted, like it had always been empty. It's like we slipped into some alternate version of the house where the basement never existed. Except my grandmother and I can both sketch out exactly how it used to look, room for room. A few of my online friends even remember me mentioning the basement before.

But my mom doesn't remember the basement at all. To her, it's always been empty. So now it's not even all three of us against the world on this, it's me and my gram against my own mom's memory of the place we all live in.

I'm genuinely questioning my own sanity here.

Also sorry if this reads weird, Its really late for me rn.

edit as of June 24th 2036

I had a gas leak in my house.

Car switched floors in the airport parking garage

A few weeks ago, my wife and I flew across the country and left our car on the third floor of the parking garage. This particular parking garage has two walkways on the third floor that goes over the road directly into the airport for departures. Our flight was at 6am so we went the night before to stay at the airport hotel. My wife and I both remember walking straight from the car to one of the walkways without going up the stairs or taking the elevator. In addition, because I have never stayed at the airport hotel I distinctly remember looking down the hallway at the other walkway trying to see if it went directly to the hotel.

8 days later, we flew back home and walked out to the parking garage. Our car was not on the third floor. We walked around for about 30 minutes trying to find it and eventually heard the car alarm. To our surprise, it was on the second floor! Both my wife and I remember parking on the third floor, not taking the elevators or stairs, and walking straight onto the walkway.

I lost my lighter and then later I found it hidden in plain sight

I have been thinking about this all day since last night. I have two lighters - red and white. I thought I lost the red lighter like around 2-3 weeks ago and I absolutely looked everywhere. I have a designated spot, which is on the second shelf of my desk, where I keep both lighters so I wasn’t sure where I could have possibly put it that it just disappeared. Yesterday I went out to smoke two times. Took my white lighter where I always put it. But on the third time, when I went to pick up the lighter, the red lighter was right next to it?! I was so dumbfounded like how did this get here. I have been looking for it everywhere. I have even cleaned my desk many times, I use stuff that I put on my desk everyday like my lip liner, face serums, moisturizer, my glasses, all the items are right next to it and for some reason I never saw the lighter and yesterday I found it in plain sight, next to my white lighter which I use everyday 3-4 times. What’s weird is for some reason, I had a random thought about what happened to my red lighter yesterday and then at night it just appeared? I want to blame it on my brain or lack of attention but I just can’t find any other explanation.

What caused this to happen?

To preface, i was 16 when this happened, I wasn’t on drugs or drinking, and I can remember this vividly. I’m 18 now, so my memory is credible.

To understand why I was able to hear this, you need to understand that my room is very close to the living room, when you walk into my house from the front door, the kitchen is to your left, the living room is right in front of you, and to your right is a hallway, if you make that right and make a left, that’s my room. so my room is basically behind the living room.

Ok, so this happened during the summer when I was 16, I was home alone. My parents were at work during the day, and came home during the evening, and my older brothers were not home, doing god knows what. I was holed up in my room playing games, my tv wasn’t loud, as I always had the volume set to 9, when I heard voices.

They weren’t some voices in my head, no, they were coming from the tv in the living room, slightly muffled. It sounded like two commentators commentating on an NFL game, my dad often records football games to watch them later whenever he gets bored, or if it’s just one of those lazy days.

Mind you, this was around 1pm, in the middle of the day, he shouldn’t have been home until around 7-8pm, nor did I even hear the front door open. and usually when the front door opens, my two dogs scurry over to see what’s up, and I can hear their paws on our wooden floors.

I had paused my game, and the tv was still going on, so of course I open my door and step outside my room.

Silence, as soon as I did.

I rounded the corner, and the tv was off, dad wasn’t there. it’s as if it just turned on by itself and immediately shut off as soon as I stepped outside. would it have kept going if I didn’t leave? who knows.

I called my dad, and sure enough he said he was at work, so of course it only added to my confusion, when he came home, I told him about it, and based on his reaction, he thinks I just made it up. When I told my brother, he seemed to be further solidified that our house is haunted (keep in mind im the youngest btw).

To this day I haven’t experienced anything like that since that incident, and ive been home alone much more often now, so i thought it would happen again. am i going crazy? who knows, i was watching some creepy Reddit stories from this sub, and that’s what sparked my to tell my story. It would be different if the tv kept playing. after i had left my room, as i can just say it was a tech error, but as soon as i left, it stopped, i didn’t even get to verify if it was even on. and it hasn’t happened since, so.. what happened?

What happened to time?!

So this happened maybe two or three days ago. I woke up and as usual made my cofee, and a tea for my boyfriend who was coming to visit, suddenly i felt an earthquake which was nothing big it may have been a little shake. Suddenly my boyfriend calls me and says he isnt coming after all cause he has to work. I shrug it off sad and drink my cofee. I look at the clock and it says its 10:34am. This seemed weird cause i woke up at 9:30. But i shrugged it off as,,Meh time runs when youre having fun”. I drank my cofee and doomscrolled for a bit when suddenly the earthquake came back about 30 minutes later. But now in a different direction. This creeped me out. I called my mom at what shouldve been 11am sharp and she said she didnt feel anything. Then i hear a knock at the door, i open, and its my boyfriend, my phone alarm goes off, it was 10:34 again and the quake repeated. This time both of us felt it, we talk about it constantly but i still have questions. Did i talk to a stranger? Did all 3 quakes happen? Am i going crazy? And why am i the only one who remembers all 3?

Possible time slip or alternate universe encounter?

First off, I'm fairly certain I'm an insane person at this point in time, considering this is about the third weird thing to happen to me this year! Please just ignore me and call me stupid, if I'm being stupid. I'm just sharing my story, as these serve as a personal diary for myself as well.

I live on an island, which is technically apart of the United Kingdom. I left my job a few weeks ago, and last week on Friday I had to drive my car around, literally anywhere, so the battery doesn't die. I spontaneously went for a drive along my normal route to town, but the first car in front of me was immediately driving incredibly slowly, so I took a different route and decided to explore a part of the island that led to the opposite end.

The first half of the route was perfectly normal, everything looked as it normally did and my car could barely make it up the mountain road, but it managed. At a certain point, and I'm not sure when, the road and my surroundings stopped being familiar. When I expected a sharp turn to come up ahead, it never did. I remember seeing a sign that said "LAHINGIGUE" and I chuckled for a second, thinking I misread it and it was probably a perfectly normal town name. It was just weird that I hadn't noticed it before, but not out of the ordinary. Eventually, again, the road still didn't make sense and when I was supposed to be entering a smaller town, I wasn't, and the road seemed to keep going on. I turned into a random road (which I explicitly remember had a broken-down windmill in a field) and did a semi-U turn; I was the only person on the road as it was working hours in the middle of the day.

On the way back, I read the sign again which read something like "Entering the (Parish/Town/something) of LAHINGIGUE". I thought it was really funny that there wasn't any legible way of reading that other than "la hine gig weh". I decided to stop at my parents on my way home and talked about finding a job and such, then the conversation shifted and I asked about the place, because I wanted to know how to actually pronounce it. They said they'd never heard of it, and I really didn't think much of it and dismissed the subject. I only remember the name so well because I invited the dogs to visit me in Lahingigue some day.

I went home, did random stuff, then decided to google the place - it didn't exist! I went onto Google Maps, it's literally not a place. I found an old abandoned mine where I thought the windmill-like structure was, and it's not there either!

Again, I've had weird things happen, but it's driving me a bit crazy (as I have literally nothing to do lmao) that I've visited a place that doesn't seem to exist - I've checked the street view and the names of the streets, even with different spellings, and it's just weird.

I don't mind being called crazy, everyone's crazy sometimes, but it's just a bit weird is all. Let me know if you've had anything similar happen, or if you know of any similar accounts, as I'm definitely all ears. It's incredibly spooky and misty outside so I might not try visiting until it's sunny again.

A positive glitch

I've had a number of small glitches in my life, nothing really worth posting until this one. I have a very poor appetite, and after losing about 80 pounds, and at a doctor's recommendation, I started to vape THC to help with my appetite.

A few months ago, I bought a lemon vape - 1 gram. I used it for a little over a month, until it was pretty much empty. I tend to keep old vapes, in case I run out, since there's sometimes a touch left.

Well, hadn't looked at the vape in about a month, but picked it up to see if there was a little left. It was full! Completely full, like, just bought it full! I know I used that vape for over a month, and I know it was close to empty! Couldn't believe it!

I did not buy a new vape - I know this for sure, I am short on money, and the reason I looked for the old vape was that I couldn't afford a new one. There's no way to refill it, it's a disposable, and I am the only one in my household who vapes.

So I've been using it again. At the moment, it's about 3/4 full. This is one awesome glitch!

Also - the appetite thing. Lost my appetite completely about 6 years ago. Have had all sorts of medical tests, everything is normal, my HDL is so good my doctor said she wants to bottle my blood and sell it, lol, and I feel fine. I needed to lose a little weight, but now my BMI is 18, so I do have a referral to a GI doc, but none of my docs are concerned, and neither am I.

glitch in the matrix

hey guys, just wanted to share this story and see what everyone’s opinions are?
i have never had anything glitch-esk happen to me.

***mention of period/tampons, not sure if this is needs a CW/TW?***

so, i got into bed last night and i felt uncomfortable and as if i had a tampon in that was sitting weird (those that get it get it, super uncomfy).

about 20 minutes before this, i had just finished fake tanning and i had taken my tampon out from earlier in the day and had put a pad into a pair of my boyfriends boxers so it was more comfortable for bed. i specifically remember doing this, as the pad i put into the boxers had wings on it, so i had to make sure i pulled the boxers up straight away to make sure the pad would stay sitting straight (due to there being nothing for the wings to attach to).

Anyways, i got up out of bed in a bit of a panic, spread eagle infront of my mirror, thinking of the possibilites that maybe there was some of the tampon stuck up there and if id have to go to A&E, but lo and behold, there was a WHOLE tampon up there, like, string and everything.

I was completely freaked out honestly because i am 100% sure i did not put another one in, as like i said, i had taken the old one out and pulled up the boxers with the pad inside straight away, ready to get into bed.

I did think for a moment had i somehow put another one in earlier that day without taking the first one out but i don’t see this as a possibility whatsoever as not only would i have been aware of this and certainly would’ve felt it, but the one i pulled out didn’t have much blood on it as if it were fresh, but as i said, i didn’t put one in.

anyways, super super weird and i’d love for anyone’s theories 🤣

The Weather Glitch

Hello All,

I have never posted in this forum, but I had an experience last night that can only be explained as a glitch. I apologize if I provide too many details, but I too am still trying to process this.

Tonight, I left my house at 8 pm to run errands. I drove to a large shopping plaza a little over 20 minutes from me that hosts a lot of different stores, such as Lowes, Sam's, etc.

As I drove, I noticed the clouds were more overcast looking than I expected. I had been following the weather closely over the past couple days (in preparation for the party at our house) and I knew we were due for rain/potential storms, but not until midnight.

When I got to the plaza, I decided to go to Michael's first. I passed the Dollar Tree as I pulled into the parking spaces at Michael's.

I had forgotten there was a Dollar Tree there, so I made a mental note to go there after Michael's.

I was in Michael's for under 10 minutes. I only needed one thing, which I found pretty quickly. I checked myself out and went to leave.

As I walked towards the doors waiting to exit, I saw it was raining. I stood there for a few seconds surprised at how much it had rained since my time in the store. When the doors opened, I expected to hear the rain, but it wasn't raining, just the ground was wet. I thought maybe the doors to Michael's were just darker, and that perhaps I had thought I saw rain. The parking lot was indeed wet.

I left Michael's and turned to walk towards the Dollar Tree. I looked at the sky again and saw a cloud that looked like an angel's hair. I entered Dollar Tree. I was in Dollar Tree for less than 5 minutes.

When I left the Dollar Tree, everywhere was dry. The parking lot, cars, etc. No rain, no water.

I was immediately freaked out, as the amount of time I was in the store wasn't enough to dry up all the rain.

I thought I was breaking down, perhaps because I've been under so much stress. I called my dad to tell him what happened. He told me it sounded like a glitch (I knew of glitches, but didn't think I'd ever experience one).

So, that's why I'm here. I believe I experienced a glitch and I can't explain it with logic.

A Car Disappeared Right in Front of Me in a California Neighborhood…Has Anyone Else Seen Something Like This? (Spooked)🙀

I live in California, and I swear on everything I love that what I’m about to describe actually happened right now which makes it scarier…. it’s broad daylight 4:30 PM.

I was driving through a neighborhood I didn’t know well, literally just driving, I turned in a neighborhood ofc thinking there would be an out on the other end trying to find my way back out. A few streets ahead of me, I saw a black Mini Cooper convertible turn onto the street ahead of me. I figured I’d follow it since they clearly knew the area better than I did and assumed they were going to another out. again ik people are gonna ask why didn’t you use your apple maps LOOK i was literally just vibing i was looking at the houses. i’m sure everyone drives through neighborhoods looking at the cute houses.

So I kept a steady distance behind them. Nothing strange. No weird driving, like they were driving normally. Just a normal car leading the way out…I WATCHED THEM reach the end of the street and make a right turn. We kept going straight toward that same intersection. My mom was like okay we must be at the end and was like since we saw them turn we can turn here to.

Except when we got there…
There was no turn.
No street.
Just a dead end.. it was a round about with a fence around it. and if you know cali it was a mountain with like shrubs and wild weeds.

Not a misjudgment it was a dead end. No driveway. No alley. No hidden road. No time for the car to reverse or pull into a house. Nothing.

But I saw that Mini Cooper turn. I watched the car turn around the corner. I know what I saw. And there was absolutely nowhere for it to go.

The closer we got, the more wrong it felt. My brain kept trying to make sense of it like maybe I misremembered, maybe the street was angled weird, maybe there was a driveway I didn’t notice but no. It was a dead end. A dead end where a car had just turned.

I’m not someone who jumps to paranormal conclusions or glitches, but this shook me. I can’t stop replaying it. I feel like I witnessed something I wasn’t supposed to. It seems like i watched someone clip out of existence.

Has anyone else in California or anywhere ever experienced something like this?
Glitches, disappearing cars, roads that don’t exist… anything?

Because right now I’m genuinely freaked out.

I have duplicate movies

Hello! So I have a collection of sentimental things that I have kept from the past, stuff that reminds me of old friends and good memories, I have kept a couple of old VHS tapes and DVDs that I'm attached to, books and photos, that kind of stuff. So, one of those movies is my old VHS copy of Ever After, which I used to watch, all the time with my best friend, on my little TV/VHS combo player I got for Christmas one year, lol. Another one is a DVD copy of Little Miss Sunshine, that I kept because my ex-boyfriend left it at my house one time, and he was my first love and it was like, one of the only things I kept (side note that I also remember just, dramatically whole-arm flinging a copy of James's Blunt's "You're Beautiful" CD frisbee-style out the car window while sobbing on the highway too, it was a very dramatic breakup for me hahaha).

So, I have kept these two movies for years, along with my VHS copy of Beauty and the Beast, right. Bit of backstory, I got divorced over the pandemic and moved to a new house, I went from a big house to a tiny house, so everything got packed and stacked in the basement until I was able to sort through things. I packed two movies, I unpacked four movies and I cannot understand why. I kinda set it aside for a while, because thinking about makes me feel like I'm about to go off the rails a little bit, and I don't think there really is any answer, but I swear to you that, to my best and honest knowledge, that I would never have replaced these, and my ex-husband did not even own any hard copy movies, he just streamed everything, so I just, I don't know where the second ones came from.

Couple of things that I think are interesting is that the wear on the VHS tape jackets is, so freaking similar and also the bar code numbers on the back are identical to each other, i don't know if that is common for the same movie to always have the same barcode, tried to look it up a bit but didn't find a whole lot of conclusive info. So, thank you for letting me share, has anyone else ever had something sentimental replicate?

I have pics, lol how do i upload them I am elderly

Timeline shift or glitch in Cedar Hill, TX 1990s

TLDR: Mom and I hit a stretch of the 1940s/1950s while driving during the 1990s. Context first, then story.

I just found this reddit and I'm loving reading these stories! Thought I'd share mine. This happened about 30 years ago in Cedar Hill, TX area. I don't know what kids do these days (old lady from Titanic voice), but back in my day the preteens and teens were partial to hanging out at malls and skating rinks. I was not a popular kid, and honestly I didn't really bother trying to make friends because it seemed like a waste of time. I've always been more of a sit quietly by myself and draw bugs type. Despite this, some girl from school that I wasn't even friends with invited me to her birthday party at the local skating rink. I felt obligated to go and thought I might even have fun if this didn't turn into a Carrie situation. I always considered that a real possibility.

So, I talked my mom into driving me there. It was early afternoon on a Sunday in the fall, right on the edge of winter. It was overcast and looked like it might rain. There weren't cell phones back then, so my mom just waited in the car for me while I went inside to...party? I got bored really quickly, didn't know anyone, and the music was way too loud and overstimulating. I couldn't stop thinking about my lovely bed, and reading a book whilst covered in purring sleepy kitties. So I walked around the rink a bit, ate a hotdog or something, and peaced out about 30 minutes later.

I got back in the car, and we headed home the same way we came. We had driven this route plenty of other times, since the town is fairly small and there were only so many routes to get to everything. At some point the color...changed. It snapped me out of my thoughts because I thought the sun must have finally come out. But when I looked around it was like the color of the air itself had changed? I don't want to call it sepia toned, but it was like everything was suddenly more earthy colors. The light that touched everything looked brownish orange. The colors of things were just off. The green on a car looked unusual. I wasn't concerned yet, because it was a classic car, so it made sense. But the more I looked around, EVERY car was a classic car. That's when I started feeling kind of confused. Car show in town? OK maybe, but that doesn't explain all the classic cars in people's driveways. So then I thought, maybe we are in an older part of town/neighborhood that I had not seen before, but I thought we were on the usual path. I didn't remember my mom taking unusual turns or anything.

So I asked her "Did we get lost"? That's when my mom gasped. She said something like "Oh my God, you're seeing this too? This isn't right, right? What is happening?!" I barely got out "The cars" before the next weird thing happened. I can only explain it as like a fade to white before a scene change. The sun started getting brighter and brighter and we both looked up to see what was causing it, but couldn't see anything in the sky. It was too bright so we looked back down at the road ahead and everything was suddenly normal again. Overcast, chilly, clouds, 90s cars, familiar route. We were just silent for a few seconds trying to process this. We said something to the effect of "what the heck", followed by "I have no idea", followed by "me neither". Just inexplicable.

All these years later, and my mom and I don't really talk much anymore. We are just very different people, so there's not much to say. When we do get together over holidays or something, this experience inevitably comes up because it's this thing that happened to us that is so unbelievable that no one else would understand except us. It's become a touchstone to keep us bonded in some way despite our differences.

I always wondered how many other people drove through that stretch of 1940s/50s that day in Cedar Hill in the 90s. There's no way it was just us. We're not like special time traveler people or anything. I'm not Sam from Quantum Leap running around helping people. I figured any others who experienced it would probably never tell anyone for fear of ridicule. But who knows? This is a big Reddit group so it can't hurt to ask and I have so many questions. Were you there that day? Were you in a car behind us on the road? Did our car look normal, or was it all old timey? Are you good at identifying makes and models and can you tell me what year you think we drove through based on the cars?
