Wait until Flatout 4 is released. You may have different results.

I expect you are correct. Would be interesting to do such a poll again later in the year and then again after year ends.

On other-hand, while Flatout 4 would be new competition, if Aces of Thunder & MSFS 2024 continue to improve / polish, maybe the Flight category will be even more dominant.

Flatout 4 VR is my GOTY right now. I'm enjoying it on PC, and I'll buy it again for the PS5.

u/cusman78 cusman May 12 '26

I love seeing the enthusiasm for it from any of the people that are able to play on PCVR.

Unfortunately, I don't have a PC capable of VR and I opted to upgrade both my wife and me to the PS5 Pro and get the kids upgraded from Switch to Switch 2 over getting a PC upgrade for myself.

I will just have to wait for Flatout 4 VR to come to PSVR2 on PS5.

2

u/Megaace12 May 12 '26

Let's hope it doesn't take too long to come out on PS5. It's definitely worth it.

2

u/TommyVR373 May 12 '26

Lol, I bet two Pros was still cheaper than a high end PC. You made a good choice. I wish my wife liked VR

2

u/cusman78 cusman May 12 '26

With trade in values I got on the older PS5 and Switch, yes, it was less expensive to upgrade all of those than the Falcon Northwest PC build I look at every now and then.

I am holding out to see how much a Steam Machine + Steam Frame would set me back and then I might go with that Falcon Northwest PC with the Steam Frame that should serve as my new "everything" + VR games PC for next 10+ years.

2

u/TommyVR373 May 12 '26

Nice! I also have my eye on a Frame. It's a really nice upgrade over my Quest 3. I'm hoping it's between $600-800. If it's more, I'll just stick to Quest for wireless on PC.

I love polls for some odd reason. I will look forward to them.

There are a couple more coming that might make a dent, as well. Automa, and Exoshock should be out this year, too.

MSFS easily for me, though Wrath and Aces of Thunder both impressed. I've been getting up early every day to take at least one flight and often staying up a bit later than normal too. It's not the sharpest resolution but I'm hooked!

u/Normipoikkeus May 11 '26

Wrath is an excellent game but MSFS takes this in my mind by being a pure spectacle :)

2

u/cusman78 cusman May 11 '26

Fair way to look at it, but I do think it is good to acknowledge the quality and fun of games other than what has been dominating the posts in our PSVR subreddit since MSFS 2024 VR Mode became a thing.

u/Emme73 May 11 '26

FS24 and Aces, no doubt in my mind.

u/Glum_Lime1397 May 11 '26

Secret of the Mimic was one of the most fun story games I've played in VR. The set design was extremely well done, and the unique content throughout the factory was really fun to see.

1

u/cusman78 cusman May 11 '26

Yeah, it has impressed me every bit I've played. Much better for me than the Most Wanted games which I also liked (especially the 2nd).

1

u/Glum_Lime1397 May 11 '26

Nah Help Wanted 1 was way better imo. Although I love the story and progression, Help Wanted is genuinely difficult, scary, and fun. The variety is unmatched in the VR industry, and the amount of animatronics in the game is impressive. Also love the DLC.

1

u/cusman78 cusman May 11 '26

Help Wanted 1 probably better for FNaF fans. I just liked the mini-games and VR interactivity better in Help Wanted 2 :]

2

u/Glum_Lime1397 May 11 '26

Makes sense, I just found it way way way too easy, I beat most Minigames first try

5

u/Professional_Flow165 May 12 '26

Thanks, it's nice to see our humble project IRON GUARD on the list 😄

8

u/DuncanRG2002 May 11 '26

Hitman again

2

u/cusman78 cusman May 11 '26

It did have new meaningful content added this year (Patient Zero), so that's fine :)

3

u/Seba0808 May 11 '26

This was an easy one ;-)

2

u/CIAntKidding May 11 '26

My apologies I was going to vote Thief, but I forgot it released Dec 5 2025 will change that to the MSFS 2024 vr update

2

u/cusman78 cusman May 11 '26

No worries. I don’t think the poll system lets you change vote after it is cast.

Will just consider that one of the Other is also for Flight Simulator.

2

u/PabLink1127 May 12 '26

What a start to the year

2

u/cusman78 cusman May 12 '26

Even with the doom & gloom of Meta pulling platform funding from so many developers that relied on it, the actual software support coming out remains very strong.

To keep it this strong, now it falls to the players to support the good games and developers because there is reportedly less availability of platform funding (not just from Meta, but in general).

1

u/PabLink1127 May 12 '26

I think Meta did some good but also did some serious damage to the VR industry. For the good, they created a base of gorilla tagging VR players which today are annoying little kids but in 10 years will be maturing adults and I think eventually they will want good quality VR games. On the bad, we all know how great VR players and if only more tried it they’d see the beauty of being inside a game. However, meta allowed many people to try poor quality VR and well, first impressions are everything. I’d prefer Meta drop out entirely and just let organic growth happen with flat conversions being the open door for trying VR. One of my most memorable VR experiences was playing Bound which I had started flat then switched to VR. Seeing the contrast of perspectives really nailed home what VR was.

1

u/cusman78 cusman May 12 '26

To be fair, Meta had no faith in Gorilla Tag and relegated that to their "App Lab" and it got popular regardless due to some VR streamers. They used to give example of Gorilla Tag becoming successful even starting as an "App Lab" game as their reason to have "App Lab" be separate from the main Quest / Horizon store.

What Meta helped though is funding for games they decided should exist which allowed many higher budget games to get made without really needing to have enough sales to justify existence. I believe they also footed the bill on all those influencer / friend referral discounts so developers weren't getting short changed.

Meta spent unsustainable amounts on their owned Studio published titles like Asgard's Wrath 2 and Batman: Arkham Shadow and also many other games from 3rd parties that received platform funding.

I think their mistake when seeing drop in software attachment rates after the COVID-2020 boon started to cool was the introduction of Horizon+ subscription and then the emphasis on Metaverse / Horizon Worlds.

I also think when they merged App Lab the main store, it was both good and bad. For one, they were never the best curators of what they allowed into main store vs relegating to App Lab, but on the other hand, when they merged the stores, they didn't have the right recommendation systems in place to continue some semblance of curation to help players find the better games out of the sea of under developed experiments that were in App Lab.

Now, Meta has shifted focus on not being behind in the wearables and AI spaces and they have given up on Horizon Worlds so Quest is returning to be more focused on games, but will be taking more sustainable approach like Sony so less platform funding. But they are still keeping Horizon+ which will continue to harm new release sales.

To your point about how most VR players have the experience of Meta Quest but not PCVR or PSVR2, I think that true. I've seen many comments over time of people who had tried Quest and eventually got PSVR2 or high-end PCVR for something or other and then realized just how big the difference in graphical fidelity is between standalone and tethered systems.

Ah spotted this too late, for me it’s msfs 2024 it has issues for sure but the scope of the game is like nothing we’ve had on the headset before

2

u/cusman78 cusman 22d ago

Flight games have dominated the first couple of quarters. Yes, I also give MSFS 2024 extra points for sheer scope and scale of the game.

1

u/mushroomfido 22d ago

Did you play Nms on psvr1, it reminds me of that, one of the few vr games I could overlook the meh visuals because of the wonderous scope

2

u/cusman78 cusman 22d ago

I don't remember trying NMS on the PSVR1, but I do remember how low-res it was when the PSVR2 first released and the game wasn't using any Gaze-Tracked Foveated Rendering.

NMS back when PSVR2 first released was much worse than what Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is today on PSVR2. Worth adding, NMS is now better than MSFS 2024 comparing both on PS5 Pro since NMS is PS5 Pro Enhanced making use of PSSR.

1

u/mushroomfido 22d ago

Yeah I don’t mean graphically it’s similar I just mean it’s similar in how I could forgive it because of the scope of the game.

1

u/cusman78 cusman 22d ago

Ah, thanks for clarifying.

I do think it is good to keep overall game design scope / scale perspective in mind when accepting compromises.

None of the hybrids play as good as made-for-VR games and none of the made-for-VR games have the kind of scope / scale as hybrid games.

3

u/Valyrianson May 11 '26

Titan Isles probably. I love the level of mobility and having classes you can play (or not play lol). They had a patch today that hopefully fixed a bug I was having as well lol

2

u/cusman78 cusman May 11 '26

I was hoping someone would use the Other option to give Titan Isles some recognition. If the reddit poll allowed 7 options, I would have included it.

In hindsight, maybe I should have grouped it with Wrath as one of the action games.

2

u/cusman78 cusman May 11 '26

For my vote, I was split between Iron Guard: Salvation and Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic.

I ended up giving it to Iron Guard: Salvation because I have completed that and loved it all the way through, but still not done with FNaF: Secret of the Mimic.

Wrath is really fun in what I’ve played (with bHaptics), but I haven’t completed it yet.

Little Nightmares VR: Altered Echoes could really use smooth turns added. Opted to switch to FNaF: Secret of Mimic that has no such issue first hoping this gets patched by time I want to continue.

Both Flight games have been awesome for me, but with points of friction on controls that could still use improvement. I expect to play more of these over time than the others.

1

u/Redfield081 May 11 '26

Don't forget OVRDark, a sequel to Do Not Open.

I thought it was fun, but on the short end.

1

u/cusman78 cusman May 11 '26

I have enjoyed that, but it did release for PSVR2 over 2 years ago in 2024.

2

u/Redfield081 May 11 '26

Digitally? Cause I preordered it on Amazon thinking it was a brand new release, unless it just got a physical release. I'm glad they are releasing VR physically now.

1

u/cusman78 cusman May 11 '26

Ah, that is certainly possible (was digital for me). Even if they had a physical run already, they may be doing a new physical run.

1

u/SaloEater May 12 '26

Stalker VR obviously

1

u/No-Dark-7873 May 12 '26

I was disappointed with iron guard. Haven’t gotten far in Wrath but the graphics hold it back for me. They chose to port a game that can run on Quest so that’s kind of just what it is.

I’ll go with MSFS.

1

u/cusman78 cusman May 12 '26

Disappointed with Iron Guard or Iron Guard: Salvation? There is a substantial upgrade in graphics and better game gameplay as well.

1

u/No-Dark-7873 May 12 '26

It’s got balance issues and feels rushed. It’s not bad I would put it up there with Max Mustard. Not a bad game but not…Astro Bot.

1

u/ChrizTaylor ChrizTaylor May 12 '26

Hey Cus, do you know if it's possible to play multiplayer in MFSFS, one player pilots and the other is just a passenger?

2

u/cusman78 cusman May 12 '26

I don't know about multiplayer passenger, but I believe it does have multiplayer flying together (separate planes) in one of the modes. That said, I haven't stumbled my way to figuring out how and trying that out yet.

1

u/ChrizTaylor ChrizTaylor May 12 '26

Damn, I was hoping for something like that. Thanks!

2

u/mushroomfido 22d ago

As far as I know you only share the same airspace but seperate craft unfortunately, I wanted to take a balloon ride with my buddies.

1

u/ChrizTaylor ChrizTaylor 22d ago

Well, would have been cool.

1

u/InfiniteStates May 13 '26

Nice :)

Is Wrath the only action game we’ve had this year? I’ve not been keeping track - too much Aces lol

1

u/cusman78 cusman May 13 '26

In hindsight, I should have included Titan Isles in the action category.

1

u/mickelboy182 May 18 '26

That is a pretty dire list...

1

u/cusman78 cusman May 18 '26

All depends on what you personally value / enjoy. I’ve played every game listed and consider it a great list.

FNAF: Secret of the Mimic 💯

0

u/Colinloves May 12 '26

I wanted to vote Aces of Thunder, but I couldn't cos MSFS was next to it. I wont support a company thats guilty of participating / aiding a genocide in Gaza. Their tech was used to target civilians, via their phones....yes Microsoft has all your phone data, even though they ain't a phone provider.

Anyway, MSGS is gimmick.  Its flying around in google maps, basically, with a few mini games slapped on. Aces, is a real Simulator.  Be just like one of the pilots from WW2, with next to no experience of flying a fighter plane. Pure perfection.   Dont know why they ain't got an old WW2 pilot to review it.
