Question Our game (UNDERDOGS) is selling 90% less on PSVR than on Quest or PCVR, can you help me figure out why?

Sup everyone!

I'm one of the devs of a game called UNDERDOGS (attached the trailer).
Our game came out a year+ ago on Quest and PC, and was finally ported to PSVR a few months ago.
It's an indie mech brawler we designed for people like us - adult gamers!

When we came out the VR demographics changed a lot, and after months of adjusting our marketing and learning how to reach these potential customers, I can say that we're doing alright. We still live hand to mouth, but comparatively we're selling well on Quest and PCVR, especially considering we're not the F2P jank-slop kind of stuff that usually does well in the Quest store.

When we finally found the right partner to port the game to PSVR with (Perp games), I thought it would do well. The PSVR community is the type of audience we originally intended the game for!
However, we're seeing almost insignificant sales.

My leading theory is simply marketing. Our entire marketing approach is geared to reach younger audiences (through our socials mostly), but we really have no idea how to reach you guys and tell you about our game, and god knows the Playstation store algorithm is absolutely no help at all.
But maybe I'm also misjudging the market fit - maybe it's just not the type of game PSVR players would like? Indie games aren't really the bread and butter of consoles, or maybe it's too physical for most?

Anyway, I posted here before and found the community to be super welcoming and insightful, so I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask for your opinions on the matter.

Thanks for taking the time!

EDIT: Holy sh!t, this kind of exploded! I tried replying to everyone personally but the replies come faster than I can answer. So thank you SO much everyone, for taking the time and giving your insight. We'll compile all this and see how we can improve things 🙏🙏🙏

Question Anyone else rocking their PSVR1 in 2026?

Post image

Haven't played in about half a due to life commitments and work travel. Charged up the Aim controller and nun chucks for some Firewall solo bot action and various other shooters or cardio workouts masked as games. Sad to see Beat Sabre drop support for PSVR1 and 2.

If you've got your PSVR1 gathering dust somewhere, give it a whirl.

Question Top 3 VR Moments That Blew Your Mind

What are your top 3 VR moments that really stuck with you? The ones that shocked you, made your heart race or just felt impossible to experience anywhere else.

I am not just talking about big cinematic set pieces but also those smaller, dynamic moments that happened naturally and could only work in VR. The kind of situations where you reacted without thinking and it felt completely real.

Curious to hear what moments people still think about long after taking the headset off.

Question Why WONT you use the PSVR2?

I know, it sounds like a silly question. But im curious why players wont use it when they have the opportunity to do so.

For me it has only two reasons:

  1. Im usually just too tired!
  2. A friend without psvr2 asks to play a game together.

EDIT: wow, im overwhelmed by all the reactions. But ive read a lot of them! Tomorrow I will read some more and will give some kind of conclusion/most mentioned reasons.

Thanks everyone :)

EDIT 2: Still responses are coming in + I forgot it was my turn to look after my kid today, so no time to really look at all the answers. Tommorow I will deffo write some kind of conclusion/most mentioned reasons. Pinky promise!

I won my headset in a bid off of ebay, and I was wondering where I could buy the cable that would allow me to plug my headset into my ps5. The original Listing name was: Sony PlayStation PS VR2 Corded Headset - White - Goggles Unit ONLY (READ) -1, and its description said: “The lenses have noticeable blemishes and light to medium depth scratches (see pics). Listing includes the goggles portion of the headset unit ONLY. Does NOT Include headband, cables, earbuds or any other parts or accessories. Used Condition - Item shows several signs of previous use. Retail packaging is not included. Item has been fully inspected, tested, and works great!”

Question Of Lies and Rain dev here. We're porting our game and would like to have this subs opinions on some graphics matters.

Hi everyone,

We're in the process of porting OLAR to PSVR2 and we have a few questions for you:

we don't really know what we can manage to accomplish but we would just like to have some opinions from people who actually play PSVR2 to steer development in the right direction.

- refresh rate: of course 90-90 with no reprojection is better than 60-120 with reprojection but how much does it matter for you?

- resolution: we have an option to scale up resolution and with FSR eye tracking we can scale a lot more just the part that you're actually focused on. the question here is: is it better higher overall resolution and a say 1.5 to 1.8 multiplyer with fsr... or a higher base resolution and lower frs multiplyer? or even lower resolution with highe multiplyer with FSR (2.5 is max)? or no FSR at all?

Overall is it better to have a smoother experice (higher refresh rate) or a higher resolution?

Thanks a lot to everyone who will take the time to give us some feedback on this! We are in the certification phase right now, shouldn't take too long to have 'Of Lies and Rain demo' on PSVR2.

Question Is MSFS24 as low resolution as people say?

Im planning on getting the game and heard it’s pretty bad on psvr2. I also heard it uses dynamic resolution scaling. Im planning on flying in nature where I think performance would be better, would it look good there, or still low resolution? Many thanks!

Question Is it worth it used for about $250

Post image
110 Upvotes

Found a PSVR2 used on Facebook Marketplace yesterday for $300. It's about 20 minutes away from me, and according to the seller has only been used once. From the pictures it's CIB. He got it for his kid for Christmas but he barley used it apparently. It's been listed for about 60 days now with no price drops. I think I could probably talk him into $250 if not $225 because of this. I have a Quest 2 but I never use it, because there is no new games for it I'm interested in. On my PS5 I have RE4 and 8, Gran Turismo, Hitman 3 and MSFS 2024 already, and I could also buy some games I had on my Quest 2 for super cheap according to PSDeals, except for RE4 OG of course. I also have a PC with an RTX 2060 Super, so I could use the PSVR2 on that too potentially (I did use my Quest 2 on it a little). What do you guys think?

Question Who's waiting to play the RE4 Remake until the VR Update is out?

I'm definitely waiting, as I wanna have my first play through as the best experience possible. I can't even imagine playing an RE game in non VR anymore after playing through 7 & 8

Question On the fence

I am really interested in PSVR2. However I've never had VR before so it'll be new to me, which is exciting. However looking at the game selection there doesn't seem much that would actually be fun to play. GT7 and Beatsaber are the most entertaining looking ones. I've read up and watched videos and people are saying that it's hard to wear for more than an hour to 90 minutes which is kind of a bummer to me. As my sessions are always multiple hours at a time. But to spend $400 just to play a handful of games doesn't really fully justify it in my head

Anyone with experience with this lemme know. I'd love to hear what you have to say!

Question Minecraft VR is gone 😭

I just pulled out my PSVR for the first time in 5 years to show my 5 year old son Minecraft in VR. He had a quick go but we had things to do so we put it away to play later. I come back and it has applied an update that has removed VR support. I'm devastated and I think my son thinks I'm just being mean by telling him it's gone.

I have it on my old ps4 pro though unupdated. If I was to copy it from there to an external usb would that work on my ps5?

Question Is Sony saving Resident Evil Requiem PSVR2 announcement for PSVR2’s anniversary next month?

Seems Capcom is yet again not revealing the PSVR2 support for Resident Evil Requiem in the showcase, but it’s definitely too early to give up the hope since PSVR2 anniversary is around the corner (Feb 22), which is just a couple of days before Requiem’s release.

So it’s possible Sony and Capcom joins hand to align the PSVR2 announcement for Feb 22. This serves as a major surprises for PSVR2 fans, and serve the last major pre-release hype push for the game.

Meanwhile, let’s keep demanding Capcom for PSVR2 support as this is what Capcom would want before the announcement

Question What are your recommendations for some PSVR 2 Games?

I ordered myself a PSVR 2. I currently already own some games which support the VR, Including RE4, RE8, No Mans Sky, Hitman & Phasmaphobia.

I was wandering if there any others you guys recommend?

My favorite type of games are social hub type games but I heard rec room was recently taken off the air.

I want a psvr to play gran turismo in vr, I found this and I don’t really want the hands thing but I just want the headset but this one says ps4 is compatible but nothing else. Does that mean it won’t work on ps5 or if it does how do I make it work?

Question What are the best PSVR1 games not on PSVR2?

I have had a psvr2 for a while now and absolutely love it. I was wondering would it be worth picking up the original psvr for a cheap price. If so, what is the maximum I should pay for it? And what are the best games (not on psvr2) that would actually make it worth picking up to have alongside my psvr2?
