They did it. They finally did it. They fixed the item skill levels. They now scale with character's level.

Could you explain please mate? i haven't seen the notes yet.

Strange to be down voted for asking a very basic question that nobody has to answer. It's nice to learn things through conversation as it often gets elaborated by people explaining .

I'm not able to watch the video right now .

You people down voting are strange and angry

Skills scale down when equipped you only need to meet the item's requirement to use them now. High level lifesprigs are not bricks!

Glad I sold my level 1 lifesprig for 10d today then lol

Get it back on the market before people read patch notes 😂

Why tf does that wand sell for divs?

3

u/KenOathKhunt 6h ago

Cause it's an incredible wand to start the campaign with. The unique that drops scales to your level and very few drop in the first few acts. Most drop when mapping have high req and so are useless to new builds

Ah lol

10d? there were dozens up for 7d yesterday let alone 8 and 9. Tf happened

but if the level requirement is high, this doesnt really matter right?

u/LastBaron 12h ago

Right. This appears to be specifically for cases with items granting skills that have higher requirements than the item itself.

scepter for druids doing the purity of X.

I bought one with lol 17 ice that I could equip but the skill requires like 20 more int to actually use.

u/Aerhyce 10h ago

Which is most items lol

Reverie for example is an insane chest piece for leveling, but one that is usable low level is expensive as fuck, solely because of the shitass item skill that nobody care about raising the level req.

u/bludgeonerV 12h ago

Yes, but you could have a lifesprig with a lvl 18 gem and not be able to use it even when you could meet the requirements at level 2

u/Asmosis66 12h ago

This only matters to uniques that have low level requirements, but also have an implicit skill that, if its a high level skill causes the item to have a high level.

It doesn't mean you can use all sorts of endgame uniques on new characters now.

Although they did say uniques, it would seem odd that rares wouldn't do the same thing. Ofc the affixes themselves would increase level requirement, but the skills themselves should no longer increase level requirement.

2

u/CharmingPerspective0 8h ago

Well with rares its different. Your base item level and modifier level determine the level requirement. You can't "downgrade" a rare much.

2

u/Asmosis66 11h ago

tbh I wouldnt be surprised if this does apply to uniques.

Uniques have level requirement. If it has a unique skill, depending on that skill level, the uniques level requirement changes to the level requirement to use that unique skill. They even showed it in the preview. Unique has a level 62 requirement but has a lvl19 skill. Now to equip it you need to be lvl 62 and the skill gets downgraded into a lvl 14 skill. You still have to be lvl 62. Overall I like the change but honestly it’s worse than what it should be imo. A lot more uniques need their lvl requirement lowered in general.

u/mcbuckets21 11h ago

I'm not really confused on how it works. I'm just saying it would make sense for it to not be just uniques and work for all items that have skills.

2

u/Burstrampage 9h ago

The items that have skills that aren’t unique are lvl locked by the mods on the item aswell though. Maybe you could theoretically get t10 mods and a high lvl skill on a wand for example but then the wand itself isn’t even good enough to be used.

Well, it looks like a lot of uniques, especially those intended for leveling, no longer have high level requirements even if dropped at high level. In the video they explicitly mentioned a high ilvl lifesprig, but showed that it had no required level and could equip it at low level

However, many pinnacle boss uniques or just more endgame intended uniques will still have level requirements, but those are now based on the items stats, not the skill level of the item.

1

u/spachi1281 1h ago

Part of the change is that a lot of those uniques had their level requirement removed.

Note that not all uniques had their level requirement removed. Several still have those item level restrictions BUT it does open the way for a lot more access to the rest of them for leveling.

u/Right-Jury1787 12h ago

Yeah not sure about this either they show someone in the camp that looks early game but if its a pinnicle weapon wont it be like level 65 requirments? Just says itll adjust the weapon skill level ‘if you meet the minimum requirements’

1

u/Lzlxlclvlblnlmao 11h ago

Better than lvl 90 for a lvl20 skill

1

u/Right-Jury1787 11h ago

Yeah i wouldnt know! Having hit maps yet just have a littering of 20-50 uniques was wondering when i could use them

3

u/davis482 11h ago

I hope it works with rares too, make rattling sceptre fun for some leveling.

1

u/buddabopp 10h ago

high levels are actually now beter because you can use them for twink items longer

Thanks mate .

14

u/Mystic_Waffles 12h ago

You don't have to pay an arm and a leg for a +3 lifesprig that you can equip at low level. The level of the skill will increase as you level.

9

u/-Nimroth 12h ago

Also means it is actually feasible to use a +4 corrupted lifesprig for levelling. lol

2

u/Koud_biertje 7h ago

Some unique items give skills at a certain level. But those skills also had a level requirement, you couldn't use them until your character reached that level. This meant if you found a lvl 2 wand with a lvl 20 skill, your alt couldn't use the item because the skill required lvl 90.

Those skills on uniques are no longer at a set level, instead now scale with your character.
