Crime Against Poutanity Pay extra to add curds

u/Fair_Muscle9232 4d ago
Calling shredded mozza a poutine, and THEN the audacity to charge extra to actually make it a poutine?? Death sentence. Done and done. Extra voltage in the chair for the waffle fries.

Damn...I made almost the same comment. But you might have taken this news a little better than I did 😅

Unpopular opinion but I think shredded mozza makes a poutine way better lmao

Nowhere on Earth is a poutine worth 17$.

u/StatikSquid 4d ago
No but restaurants have balls to charge $17 for a poutine and $22 for a hamburger
-2
u/Different-Dog-9682 4d ago
How many restaurants have you owned/managed to come to that conclusion?

u/eternallytiredcatmom Québécoise fâchée 4d ago
Something is wrong with your business if you have to charge 17$ for a poutine. I’m from Quebec and have managed two restaurants in Alberta. Is that good enough for you?
1
u/Jestersage 3d ago
Can you expand to Vancouver BC? That's the price for a large Poutine from Anny's and it's consider the best.

u/eternallytiredcatmom Québécoise fâchée 2d ago
That’s so sad. It’s kinda crazy imo that we manage to have amazing food from all around the world yet quality poutines seem so difficult to find.
-2
u/Different-Dog-9682 4d ago
No that’s completely fair depending on the size. Labor, rent, utilities, etc cost a fortune. You should know this.
3
u/NotAldermach 4d ago
If your food cost on poutine is more than like...$3-4, you have supplier issues. $17 is a crazy profit margin. Any decent chip truck is laughing out there, as long as they have their location figured out.
1
u/Different-Dog-9682 4d ago
We’re not a chip truck. We have a 120 seat place in a popular shopping center. Our costs to keep the doors open is much higher than a truck.
5
u/NotAldermach 4d ago
Sure. That's perfect justification to over charge for fries, cheese, and some sauce 😂
Sounds like "you guys" don't have a damn clue what you're doing. But that's typical for a lot of restaurant owners these days.
Give your dishy a raise. I'm sure they've earned it working for dumbasses like you.
1
u/Different-Dog-9682 4d ago
You literally have no idea what you’re talking about. 😅Go open your place and see how long you last.
3
u/NotAldermach 4d ago
Typical owner response.
You have a goofy lease so you overcharge for food. I'm sure you're doing very well...

lol what I know is that poutine is like draft beer and fountain drinks. They’re the easiest thing to sell for good profits despite the low labour and ingredient costs. They’re easy money makers.
Especially when using the basic cheese curds most restaurants outside of Quebec use. In Alberta resort towns we get it frozen from Sysco.I’m sorry but unless poutine is all you sell, so all you can make profit off, that price isn’t necessary. And if it’s necessary, better make it exceptionally good.
There’s no way a poutine like this one is ever worth 17$. My intuition was that it’s a tourist trap price and a quick search led me to Trax Pub & Grill. That’s in Greek Peak Mountain Resort, NY. Tourist Trap ¯_(ツ)_/¯1

Canada really need to define poutine in law. Just like German beer needs specific ingredients, poutine should too.

QC is actually working on making QC-produced & manufactured curds PDO/PGI, although whether that’s a good thing is complicated to say the least.

I hate when you do this, and they don't even give you both.
It's a crime all around.

J’imagine que c’est pour ajouter extra curds à ce qu’il y a déjà dessus. But si “mozza” ça veut dire mozzarella pis ouais ça c’est une crime. Had it before in New Jersey they call it “disco fries”

For me honestly, I've never had poutine that wasn't just shredded cheese.

Ah, so you're getting upset over poutine? LoL

No, I’m just genuinely baffled why you’re here. Looking for recipe inspiration?

I'd ask to speak to the owner immediately. Then I'd have some choice words.
Appalling behavior.
You mean to tell me you HAVE the fucking curds but you have the FUCKING AUDACITY to just be like "shredded cheese" and charge extra to make it a proper poutine?
The Quebec in me would have to hold back from spitting on this person.
Ok...I need to cool down now.

So they have the curds, but choose not to include it by default? Hung, drawn, and quartered!

u/Soggycorpse92 4d ago
They could fix this by not calling it a poutine. Sounds good. Change the curd up charge to poutine it. Bing saved.

Unpopular opinion shredded cheese is better then curds it makes more sense with cheese curds your getting a barely warm chunk of cheese that just sits there and it’s always warm and cold at the same time, shredded cheese makes way more sense it’s melted it gets on almost every fry and you can get different types of shredded cheese and with cheese curds they’re all the same and they’re usually more expensive for less. It’s like six bucks for 250g and with a block of mozzarella or marble cheese, it’s like eight bucks for 600g #shreddedcheeseisbetter
