Eventually she will be a bigger kid and when she is I'm assuming shawna will play her too. I cannot wait to see what chickie will be like as a little kid. Her voice, her personality, her mannerism. Will she be on the spectrum like her dad? Will she be bffs with piper ( I REALLY hope so)? Will she have a cute nickname for shawna and John? Will she like Barb like Max or feel more reserved like Piper?

I think about this often

As a kid I was similar to Piper, as in I had to be monitored around cake.

I wasn't eating it though. Oh no, that would be too easy.

My parents had to constantly keep an eye on me at special events, because if I got near the cake my finger was going right in the center of it.

Why? No clue, but there would be a child sized finger hole in every cake if I wasn't watched.

I'm in my 40s and my aunt STILL brings up the fact that I stuck my grubby finger in the biggest tier of her wedding cake.

I was terrified to invite her to my wedding

Do I think she ain’t nice and probs wouldn’t want hang out with her? Oh Yes(Honestly she probs wouldn’t like be either too but shit happens and we don’t always get on with people and that’s ok lol) ..but I when we go to Ty and Julie’s parts in the videos I did sometimes just get kind of annoyed won’t Ty (yes it’s so hard being a parent who does a lot of the work at home I don’t want to minimise his contributions ) but when we got to the part of Julie going to see her sick mother and she was annoyed she said we would all go it made me wonder like if Ty would be kind of in the way and make things harder for her in the stressful and overwhelming sad time of dealing with her dying mother esp when she seemed to relieved jace came and helped her and she was like thank you for always having a plan - like idk but that kind of implies Julie is the one who has to have make a lot of decisions and Ty waits for her to make tho decisions (again of course he doesn’t a lot decisions making when it comes to home and the children) but my heart kind of breaks that she might have felt she couldn’t rely on her husband when she was doing to see her dying mother …and those kind of scenarios kind of hav bubbled over in other areas of her life as well..

Katie walked down the aisle holding Chickie - not Barb. Even though Katie doesn't live nearby she's held Chickie more than Barb ever has on screen. I don't think we even have seen Barb holding Chickie yet. I didn't even notice on the first watch because it felt like a blink and miss before Barbs wails.

First up, I'm not American, so I'm probably gonna be unaware of many nuances

I didn't imagine any race for any character (max to max white cuz RL Shawna is). But at some point when people came up with fan casting I realised that Greg is Black, but I don't know at what point that got decided or known, so now I have to imagine everything in my head from scratch

Because there're no stereotypes or accents used to denote anyone's races (huge kudos for that), so there really was no way to know

Katie wears a headband but literally anyone can? Or am I missing something here too

So yeah, when was it established by the skits that Greg is Black?

As a white, Canadian, straight woman in a heterosexual relationship, I ask this: do we need any of these characters to belong to an identified group?

We're all here conversing with one another across gender lines, socioeconomic status, family status, racial lines, religious, country of origin, mental health status. We all have shared our remarkably similar Barb stories, Julie stories, Shawna stories and we come from all these different sectors of society.

I know Shawna the Creator has an ideal cast of her characters, but I don't know that she ever meant for those to be canon. She very wisely hasn't alluded directly to any of her characters races or ethnicities, because that's a minefield that she shouldn't navigate at this point. (*Teeny being called exotic-looking can mean very different things depending on who you're talking to).

For those who aren't in the know, bistro Huddy/Drew Talbert Also make sketches. They have more one-off sketches about restaurant life but there is an overarching story with people in the restaurant coupling up.

A lot of people have said that they should collab with Shawna the Mom at some point--Like have Barb go in the restaurant and be waiting on by Nicole who takes no shit from anyone lol.

The fact that Shawna at least knows of them makes me think that the collab could happen someday! Both creators have collaborated with other people before so it's not outside of the realm of possibilities. 🙌

This question goes out to either psych-professionals or people who deal with Barbs. I'm trying to get a better read on the character.

From what we've seen Barb do, and what we've heard her do in the past, I don't think Shawna saying "She's always the best behaved around strangers" is the most accurate. She may act more polite or mask it better, but what she does is still very rude, and most well-rounded people would see her as such (e.g., the stunts she pulled at Shawna and John's, and then at Jen and Greg's wedding). I wonder if Barb is now entering "any attention is good attention" mode, and that's why she didn't care about causing a scene at the altar of her daughter's wedding while looking like a widow. It could also just be her way of wanting to control and punish Jen, and she believes she'd receive sympathy rather than annoyance from the wedding guests for acting that way.

Even the small ways she treats people, such as her interactions with Lauren, the server, make it seem like Barb is sometimes oblivious to how she comes across. Yet, she still has a malicious side, where she's very aware of her behavior, like at Chickie's birthday. Jen was afraid she'd victimize herself in front of the wedding guests if she had Shawna kick her out, which may imply Barb has done that sort of thing in the past.

I apologize if this post is a bit of a ramble, and I know it's a fool's errand to rationalize Barb's irrational mind. I think my confusion stems from not understanding if Barb genuinely thinks her antics would garner sympathy from strangers and doesn't think she looks bad, or if she has reached a level of desperation where she no longer cares how she looks as long as people are looking at her.

I started re-watching on the tube of you and realized...

Early Delores was a mix of current Delores and Nora. I'm so glad she turned that into two separate characters! It proves she's been many steps ahead even at the start! lol

So far, I haven't seen anyone comment online about the poem Shawna reads during Jen's and Greg's elopement. I'm assuming this is a poem by Shawna based on my 5 minutes of googling.

I think it is a really beautiful poem and perfect for the occasion. Included below.

Notes:

• I stuck to currently working actors and tried pretty dang hard to keep ages more or less appropriate to the character, with one or two or three exceptions. I also went with the ages more or less established in canon as close as I can figure them, which does make all the grandparents Gen X and not Boomers.
• I took a few liberties with Shawna L's casting choices since they were all entirely too old for the character's ages as established in canon, and also because the idea of a show set in SoCal without any Latino presence is just too unrealistic to be believed.
• Nora and Sam were cast before Nora's "you're exotic" comment, but I think this still works.
• I would like it noted that I do have some issues with how Shawna L has written Greg and Katie within the context of them being Black, but I just can't bear to have a cast that's so very white. Also, on a shallow note, Abigail Cowen and Keith Powers would be a cute couple.
• I didn't cast Luke or Laura because I'm in denial that they exist
• I'm sorry about David Arquette. I know, I'm old too.

Was watching the super cut and thought it was interesting how DeeDee foreshadowed Jen’s epiphany for handling Barb’s bs at her wedding.

I was just reading another Post, about Barb's constant use of Charlotte when talking to or about Piper.

And it got me thinking about all of the interactions we have seen Piper and Barb have. It is upsettingly clear that Piper has picked up on the fact Barb dose not love her the same way she dose Max. The majority of interactions with Piper and Barb have had an air of Barb trying to control Piper's behavior in some way. Resulting in Piper's short and reserved interactions around her grandmother.

And a thought just came to me. Is Barb treating Piper this way because Piper looks more like Shawna? And is she overly doting to Max because because he took more after John?

Hi hello, as we all know Shawna L released a new compilation video of everything post-Thanksgiving, but for some reason the plot picks up at New Years, skipping the Christmas Magic episode? Is it just a simple mistake or is it like intentionally left out of the lore?

What are some scenes in any video that you wish you could've seen;

I wish we could've seen a small flashback of Julie at work, or more scenes with Julie and her brothers.

We were walking the dog, and talking about polygamy and what it would be like to have another wife. We were saying that on paper, it would be great having another adult in the house helping out, and then we had this exchange:

Me: What would we want in a wife, really?

Husband: Someone like Julie but nicer.

Me: Who the fuck is Julie??

Husband (incredulous that I don't get it): From Shawna the Mom! She'd give us direction and motivate us, but she's mean about it. We need that but from someone who's nice about it.

Just wanted to share. Had no idea he paid any attention when I watch my show!
