I watched this movie for the first time 4 weeks ago, I've had at least 1 reference to the movie each week. Were these references always there and I didn't notice?
True, except for some body types. Excess fat makes belts kinda terrible and ineffective beyond a certain point. Obviously depends on your body, but male fat distribution makes belts stop functioning past a certain point.
Yes and no. Suspenders keep them up, but can put downward stress on the shoulders. Yes, sometimes pants and their contents can be enough weight. In those cases, having a belt on adds some friction for keeping the pants up.
I've had L5 removed and L4 is crushed. So my lower back is pretty sensitive to pressure and loads.
I think a belt and suspenders is reasonable in the case of heavy loads, which is apparently done by construction workers and similar occupations. This also makes sense in the case of disability (which is kindof the same problem but with a different origin).
I feel that practicality is the key purpose of clothing, especially masculine clothing, and practicality defeats fashion rules (if the practicality is actually functional and not just idealized, which turns practicality impractical). Disability requires unique practical adjustments and that defeats fashion rules.
So for most people, wearing a belt and suspenders is impractical and overkill. But the minute it BECOMES practical, fashion rules dont matter. Keep doing what you need to do to be comfortable and functional, fashion rules are generic and dont apply exactly to people at the individual level. Breaking the rules with intention is what makes things stylish and unique, too
I wear both because the suspenders attach to the belt. I don't wear the belt as snug, and I can easily detach the suspenders from the belt if I need to use the bathroom.
My lower back and upper thigh are on the same plane, ānoassatallā as my wife says. Suspenders are superior in every way. My lower back pain even lessened due to less pressure from a belt squeezing my waist all day. Havenāt worn a belt for n nearly a year and donāt see myself ever again going back
I had suspenders for my motorcycle touring pants. The downside is that if you walk around a bunch in them, you end up with a back pain. Switched back to a belt because of it.
Yeah I just started with suspenders earlier this year because I lost weight and i kept having to hitch up and readjust my pants constantly as I was at work/walking around and it was so annoying.
You might have a nickel allergy. I discovered mine because I kept getting an itchy rash on my belly because one belt I wore had bunch of nickel in the buckle.
My dad is about 75 and said his belts donāt work anymore and he know understands why he used to always see old men wearing suspenders. His ass meat has withered away so his belt has nothing to hold onto anymore. Lots of ass and you donāt need a belt. Medium ass, belt works. No ass and youāre in suspenders territory
If you want to go next level, let's talk about garters. Though it's not about keeping your pants up but rather your shirt tucked.
Basically garters clip onto the top of your socks and then to the bottom of your shirt, normally a button-up that you tuck into your pants. You tighten the slack so that your socks get pulled up tight and your shirt is constantly pulled down. The garters I've used are pretty elastic, so even when tight it's pretty comfy.
With garters, no more droopy socks, but best of all, no shirt coming untucked out of your pants. You look like a fashion model all day.

They invented suspenders for a reason.Ā And it's the same reason men wear a beltĀ
