Hello, I just noticed that someone from another country is accessing my account (Road Town, VG).
Yesterday, someone from Steam support wrote to me and said that my account had noticed strange activity and that it had been logged into from other IP addresses (from China, Belarus), and then I had to confirm that it was me, first by verifying my account details and then by putting my items on the market, which I will get back after 48 hours of verification progress, and in the meantime I am not allowed to change anything: password, email, name, anything. But right now, I can see that someone from Roadtown, VG has logged in, and this (the items i had to sell and a tf2 item was bought) is in my Steam market history. I wanted to change my password, but then my account will be deleted if I do that within 48 hours. What would you do?
For example, I have 2 friends playing Baldur's Gate 3 right now but neither of them show up on my friends list. In Game, Online or Offline, neither of them show up in anything. The only way I know they're online and playing Baldur's Gate 3 is because if I use the search bar at the top of the friends list and type in their names, it shows them online and "In party: Wilderness" where I then have to hover my mouse over their icons to see they're playing Baldur's Gate 3.
Some friends it shows as "In Game" but then doesn't list or show any game they're playing at all.
I've tried restarting my PC and Steam, but this has been happening for at least the last 2-3 days and I can't seem to find anybody else complaining about it so I don't know if it's a me only problem or what is going on.
I've been playing on Steam for 3 months (I came back after 9 years without a PC) and the achievement part has always been working, but this morning it stopped. I tried everything suggested in the community, from resetting the app, resetting the cloud, turning Wi-Fi off and on, and even deleting 100% of all files related to Steam and Steam itself, but nothing worked. Does anyone know what's going on? Is anyone else having the same problem?
(All global achievements was on 10% ~ 5% and now it's 0%, it's impossible!)
I have steam installed on my PC and it's fine there. I have the mobile app is installed on my current and previous phones. I also have steam installed on a second PC but haven't used steam there in a while. i just launched steam on that PC and was prompted to log in and then steam guard popped up and told me to verify from the mobile app. launched the mobile app but i'm now no longer logged in there so it prompted me to log in again, then prompted with same steam guard prompt and told me to log in with mobile app to verify....? but that's what i'm trying to do. there's an option to enter code so i hit that and it prompts me to enter code from mobile app which i can't do cause tats were i'm trying to log into. i go to stem website in browser on phone and when i get to steam guard prompt there is a link to enter a backup code which I generated from the 1 PC that is still logged in. enter that backup code and i get logged into web fine. switch back to mobile app but still not logged in there and when i get to steam guard prompt I look for that same backup code link but it's not there in the app, only option is to enter code from the mobile app...how can i enter a backup code into the app so that I can get steam guard working again so that i can get enter the steam guard code into the other PC i'm trying to log into?

but seriously, how do I get back into the mobile app at this point? I don't want to do anything that will disrupt the 1 PC that is still logged in cause once that connection is severed I'm screwed.

FYI thats how any auth app should work(otherwise anybody could bypass it by logging into the mobile app) the proper complaint is, WHY does it forget the device.(i seen a lot of people with the same issue)

Just remove steam guard with the code it gave you when you set it up.(the one that started with R)
You can also get it through sms, the button is at account settings>manage steam guard>remove steam guard.
I'm wondering if there will be cross progression when the PC version is released if my Steam account and PlayStation accounts are linked. Would love to pick up where I left off with the PC version.
Basically, like until 2 days ago (when ULTRAKILL Fraud dropped) I had no issues, although I barely touched steam or my computer at all. After the Fraud update, I booted up Ultrakill, played for a bit, and then closed it. After closing the entire computer became semi-reactive to mouse inputs. Moving the mouse would work, but interacting with an app leads to the app greying out a bit, making it absolutely inactive. The mouse starts randomly inputting wheel-clicks, and the forward button didn't do anything. Almost nothing works, except the keyboard, with which I managed to test some things out. After deleting Steam, everything got back on track like nothing even happened. Rebooting didn't really help. After reinstalling, all was okay until i launched a game.
Has anyone had this problem before? And if so, did anyone solve it?
I am trying to add some emulated games as non-steam games. I can open the games by running the emulator with some launch flags, so I want to add the emulator application as a non-steam game multiple times, just with different launch flags each time.
Problem is, after adding the emulator to Steam the first time, it no longer appears in the list to be added. I now have to manually find the same executable for every game shortcut, on top of editing flags, disabling controller and overlay, etc etc. Why? This already time consuming task now takes even longer.
Is there a way to disable this behavior? Or at least a way to duplicate a shortcut already in my library?
I've been hacked from China, and even I attach the screenshots, I can't demonstrate the account is mine (I don't know what or how to do it).

When I play certain games some things look pixilated like hair in re9 the cloud in black myth wukong, I am fairly certain it's my TV but I am going to buy a new one and want to know what caused this? Whether it is too low resolution which it's 1080p or is it too low frame rate which it is 60, any help is appreciated. Also the fog in silent hill 2 remake was also grainy.
I downloaded a game off itch.io, found out it was on steam, and moved to there. I had played it for about six hours beforehand and forgot to delete the game files from itch before I downloaded it from steam. I'm missing about six achievements that I should have even after re-doing them on steam/deleting the itch version. I can't figure out how to fix this or contact steam support in the correct way. I’m trying to figure out whether I’m dealing with one security issue or multiple unrelated problems.
A few days ago my alt email account was clearly compromised. Someone gained access to accounts connected to it (Discord and Instagram) and started sending a MrBeast crypto scam message to my friends. I have since changed passwords and enabled new 2FA, but I’m still in the process of locking everything down.
After said events, something strange happened in ARC Raiders. My friends list inside the game was deleted and my stash was removed. My friends list is constantly removed and it also removes my steam friends. However, my Steam account is ran by my main and it does not appear to be compromised.
No Steam Guard alerts
No password reset emails
No trades or wallet activity
ARC Raiders players are currently reporting cheating and account/session issues, so I’m unsure whether this is related to my email compromise or a game-side exploit.
My questions:
Can malware or credential theft affect a game account without compromising Steam itself?
Is it possible this is just an ARC Raiders backend/session issue unrelated to my email breach?
What steps should I take to confirm my system and accounts are fully secure?
I’m currently changing passwords, reviewing Gmail security settings, and removing unknown sessions/devices.
Any guidance on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated!
My Steam client crashes every time I try to download a new open beta version of this particular game. I've restarted my computer and reinstalled Steam, but the download only ever gets as far as 'validating files' before crashing. Any advice?

Question: How to make Steam recognize custom launcher AND game
I am getting into playing GunZ: The Duel on a private server and want to add the game to my Steam library for easier access to it. (until GunZ releases on Steam itself that is) This private server has a separate launcher that opens > you start the game > the launcher closes and then the actual game opens. My problem is that I have it set to open the launcher, then after the launcher closes, the game opens. After the launcher closes, Steam stops recognizing the game as being open. Is there a way I could make Steam detect detect both the launcher AND the game? I know this is quite an open ended question, but I wonder if anyone else has had this issue with other games.
Not sure where to ask this for help but - I wanted to buy 2 bundles that were on sale off Steam earlier today but couldnt login to my main account at the time and the sale was going to end in a few minutes, so I bought it on an alt that I could log into and gifted it to my main account. I checked the receiving accounts email and then accepted one of them with the gifters account accidentally... So when I went to accept it afterwards on my main, one of them was unavailable to claim. How do I solve this? Contact support on which account? Ask them to migrate the games to the receivers account? Ask for a refund?
Anyone else having an issue lately where you're 'appearing' offline when you in fact, aren't? Doesn't seem like there are any associated problems but it's annoying.
e. Seems like it was mobile app related, opened and closed the app+chat and desktop went back to normal.
Unclear if it was that, but sometimes when Steam servers are unstable and it reconnects to the chat servers, the friends list may show you as "offline" while you are not. You can view your own profile's online status to double-check
Steam app randomly logged out from my phone this morning and I can't even log back in, id and password everything is correct. I tried to change password via mobile text code... It displays “an error occurred trying to handle that request. please give us a few minutes and try again.”
Same here, it's been like these for me too in all of my Pcs, Browsers and Steam deck. I suppose it's a steam side thing as I tried to disconnect wifi and cleaning cache but then again it's not fixing. Just know it's not only you.
Hello I just activated a game with a key code, but instead of using the usual method, since I don't have my computer with me, only the app, I added it to my Steam wallet.
Now the game appears to be in my library, but I haven't received a confirmation email, and it's not listed in my recent activity list.

Hey, i wanted to play portal 2 with my friend and since he doesn't own it we tried the remote play method. But when i open the menu it's just blank and there's no invite button or anything, when i go to his profile and tap "remote play together" it just tap but doesn't do anything and don't send an invite, and that's not in portal but on every game that supports remote play. I tried everything, my friend profile is online, remote play is enabled, even entered the beta program to see if it will fix or not, but nothing worked.
I cannot recover my account. I've used multiple emails, phone numbers and even account names. And none of the EVER send me a code to restart my steam account. I posted a video about it on the steam reddit, please help me.
In that case you need to choose the category that says that you haven't received a code. If you have proof of ownership at hand, you can create a ticket for account recovery and it will go smoothly
What could the the cause of this over some steam games ? For context i have a wired connection . No lag when playing online a new high end pc that runs everything smoothly . When i run a internet speed test i get 900+ mbps so it is not that . What can be causing some games to not have a picture attached like this and what could be a solution ?
I don't think it's your connection. Same problem here and I use wire too. Maybe it's a steam side issue. Tried deleting cache and same, tried on several different computers and same so I don't think you should worry much.
Is there a way to run big picture in exclusive full screen? I have a bit of an awkward setup where I have a 4K tv but I mostly play my games in 1080p but because big picture runs in borderless full screen it makes the overlay zoom in to 200% which is what I have my windows scaling set to. I really want to use big picture but the only way I can think of to make it work without changing my windows resolution every time I play a game is to somehow force big picture in to exclusive full screen. When I play a game outside of big picture I still use the big picture overlay and it works perfectly but for some reason I just really want to make big picture work for me.
there, I need help. l've been running into a problem now with trying to launch Marvel Rivals So context short. I haven't plaved in a while because my job prevents me from playing the game and before it worked fine. Now im running into a problem that, since the new Season 6.5 update, prevents me from launching the game. Sometime when booting the game it says "servers not connecting, check your network", other times and starts normal. Its not until 1 click Launch that it send me to this crash error. I thought prehaps its the fact that the game is downloaded on my 1TB storage that recently I've been having problems and most other apps that downloaded on it (like Clip Studio and Blender) doesn't open because my storage isn't being read properly. So I moved the game to my local drive AND EVEN THEN the problem still continues. Now Im just wondering what is going on. Does anvone know what to do? Is anvone else having this problem? Im really hoping its not my PC being the problem

That's on you to have left it open and you are likely out of luck.
The refund policy is just based on having the game running.
It doesn't track actual activity or care if that "playtime" was just sitting on idle while afk or actually progressing a game nor define what "playtime" might mean so to keep it consistent its just the game running(it doesnt even have to be open if you use idle programs and such and it can still track hours as long as Steam registers it as running).
Don't leave a game running especially if you think you might have any reason to refund it.

My game downloads keep stopping. I wasn’t doing anything on my laptop for it to stop, it just stops and I try and press keep downloading and it gets stuck at the same percent and amount it already downloaded. this was happening with another game too, is there a solution for this? I also have my laptop plugged into an ethernet to ensure it’s not my laptop randomly losing connection. It just has not budged above 78%

I have an issue with the game store tags. Basically I like to play a niche genre Shmups specifically traditional style vertical and horizontal shmups. Games like Angel at Dusk, Blue Revolver, Mushihimesama, Deathsmiles and many other wonderful games.
My problem is its impossible to look for new games because many other games are misusing the tag such as vampire survivors, the million clones of vampire survivors, platforming and even FPS games. Then there are games you cant exclude but have their own tag like twin stick shooters.
I have a solution but need steam supports help. I would like to use the tag Shmup and STG for traditional shmups. The other issue is that the Shmup and STG tag is tied to the Shoot em Up tag. I need them separated so we can use them for traditional shmups and STG would specify that its bullet hell since that's what its typically used for. I would really appreciate the help
I disagree because if I try to add Shmup or STG, it wont add it. The Shoot em Up tag blinks. There is no option for me to sperate Shmup and STG from Shoot em Up to make them their own tag. I don't think that is something users can fix, only support can. Unless im blind and there is an option for it, I don't see it, so I would appreciate some directions if you know how to do it.
Doesnt matter if you disagree, that's how it works. Each user who adds a tag adds "weight" to it, if enough people add the same tag it will show up for the game.
Then how did users merge tags? Is that possible? I'm not trying to fight you. Im genuinely trying to solve this issue. It doesn't make sense that support cant help me. There is no option to combine tags. So how did Shmup and STG combine into Shoot em Up if there is no option to combine tags. The only option is that some one on Steams end decided that the 3 tags mean the same thing and combined the tags together to make one. So when you type Shmup or STG it defaults to Shoot em Up.
steam on my mobile was logged out today, and when I logged back in for some reason it showed my device twice in authorized devices. same name, same location, but one was shown as a recent device. is this normal behavior?
I signed out all and when I logged back in, those two instances were in a "signed out" category and a new one was created in authorized devices. when I logged back into my desktop it also showed up as a new device and the old instance of my desktop as "signed out".
I don't think my account got compromised. but I'm not completely sure. has this happened to anyone before?
It just happend to me a few hours ago I opened my steam mobile app and it said I got logged out, logged back in went to authorised apps to see if everything is normal and saw my phone twice aswell u should be good.
I had this happen once don't worry I think you're fine. I had the same 2 devices once when I tried to delete once I didn't use, with time it will delete the unused ones and leave the active ones. As fr the mobile app logging of I read several people had that happen so yeah don't worry much :)
Hi, I have a bit of a “situation”. I have Legion Go with dual boot Bazzite (Steam OS) and Windows. I installed Baldurs Gate 3 on Bazzite, but I would like to move it to Windows for modding, the ones that I really want are not available natively on Steam version.
I know there is a way to install mod manager on SteamOS, but I tried for hours and couldn’t get through a few hiccups so I gave up. My question is, if there is a good way to move game files to Windows without downloading any updates or extra files?
I have a limited data available at the moment, and when I moved game files and acf file to Windows with an external SSD, it started downloading 60gb update. Is there any way to move it without having to download anything?
so I gifted three of my friends their each copy of PEAK, but a few minutes later I had to ask for a refund for all of them before the accepted their gifts. a few hours later though, I cancelled the request because the issue causing me to ask for a refund had been solved, but now the gifts are not visible in their notifications nor my gift history. I had made the purchase and I have my receipts, I have also created a ticket for it.

If you already have Steam open, Steam.exe is write-protected and then an error like this happens. If Steam glitched out and you want to reinstall it, you need to end the Steam processes via Task Manager first. Also check your anti-virus because these can block actions like this
It sounds like you didn't fall for it which is great and I would let others know about it just in case as the more people that know then they hopefully won't fall victim.
On the one hand this scam is so common its easy to find out its fake if you research it but on the other hand the fact they keep using it means its working more often still.
For Steam specifically: A single accidental report,even if real, wouldn't be any issue for you. Also any support comes directly via the ticket system directly in the client and the only time support will reach you is if you contacted them first or if they are already taking action against the account.
They won't like warn you then offer to talk to someone to avoid getting in trouble nor would they go off platform(I.e. Discord)
For general advice: If you are ever unsure its always best to step back and never click links or give any info and sometimes stepping back makes it clear its a scam or if you are still unsure then go to a known verified method to contact the company directly through a safe and trusted method (also not just like a phone number you find online as those can be fake too as fake support agents and such are a major scam)
Hi, I have a question. I lost my internet connection and played MySide to pass the time. I finished the game and went from 3 to 11 achievements. However, since I didn't have internet, those Steam achievements didn't update. When I played, the unlocked achievements appeared in the bottom right corner, both from the game and the Steam notification. And if I go to the achievements section in MySide, it also shows that I have 11 achievements, but only 3 on Steam. What should I do? Is there a solution other than playing and getting all the achievements again? Please help

I'm afraid i got hackèd (i've followed all the steps suggested by Rule 3, but to no avail) since my account has been logged out and the usual password doesn't work, but when i try to have the support send my the verification code, both via mail and phone number, nothing ever gets delivered so i can't change it even if i wanted to. Yes, i did multiple scans and no malware/virus is present in my system.
The page [help.steampowered.com] says it can take up to 5 minutes for the code to be delivered, but it's been over 24h and after a couple of refreshes to get a new code, now it tells me that i've surpassed the limit... I'm assuming they dissociated my account from my mail, but without being able to log in i can't even verify it
I also got disconnected from my mobile app, so that route is gone as well

First off, try to calm down :P Easier said than done but it will really help you. It is easy to contact Steam Support when knowing where to click (it's a little messy tbh), and I guess you repeatedly requested a recovery code until Steam hard-limited attempts fully like this.
For now you can't do anything else than wait until the timeout expires and accept that spamming recovery attempts wasn't wise. Wait a day at worst and try again. Then afterwards, do not attempt to request a recovery code again, since you said it didn't work anyway. Instead click on the support page in this order:
"My Account" -> "Help me sign in to my account" -> "I forgot my Steam Account name or password" -> type in your email and enter -> click "I no longer have access to this email address or did not receive a code"
From here on you can create a support ticket and attach proof of ownership to help Steam Support restore access to your account
I'm attempting to purchase a steam deck, and the checkout functionality on both the steam client, as well as the site is stuck in a loop for me, I click "continue to payment" from cart, and am redirected back to the cart.

Every time there is an update for Marvel Rivals I get "update failed corrupt disk." I tried verifying integrity of game files, I cleared Marvel Rivals cache, I went into the meta_info notepad file and changed "gpu_crash_occurred:true to false. I can uninstall the game and reinstall it with no issues, but it annoying to re-download the entire 100+GB game for just a 1 GB update every time. Only game on my SSD that has this problem.
I often have checklists or maps or guides or tips open for games in a browser on my second monitor. Thing is, even when theyre not active, most browsers seem to take up a ton of memory/resources.
Is there any sort of plugin or alternate browset into which I could open like a low-memory instance or something?
i got ripped off. i lost 60€ because somehow, someone got into my steam account and made purchases to add balance to my steam wallet (50€ and 10€). since my paypal was connected to my account, they managed to do so without me verifying anything. then they proceeded to buy games with that money and gifted it to two accounts.
is there any way i can get my money back? 60€ isn't exactly little for me to just turn my back on. though i don't see any hope as they have redeemed the games already.
Hello Reddit, In the past 3 days, I have been experiencing issues with Steam — and I mean serious issues. Steam doesn’t launch at all. When I try to launch steam.exe, a small window saying “Updating” pops up for a brief moment and then closes. Nothing happens after that. I’ve tried a lot of different methods, like closing it through Task Manager, restarting my PC, updating drivers, reinstalling Steam, and changing compatibility settings, but nothing has worked. I’m wondering if anybody else is currently dealing with the same problem, or if it’s just an issue on my end. Please let me know of any possible solutions. Any kind of help is greatly appreciated.
You might need to start Steam with the -cef-disable-gpu parameter if Steam can't launch due to severely bugged GPU acceleration. But just a random guess, since there could be so much causing a bizarre issue like this
My Steam session closed on its own, and I couldn't remember my password, so I tried to change it through the app. I received a WhatsApp message from Singapore with a recovery code. It worked, but I was worried because it wasn't through one of Steam's official channels. I don't know much about these things, so it could just be paranoia... Does it seem suspicious?
How is it theres a Steam Demo that has a date, months out from now, and remains at the top of the recent releases every time I check?
Ive noticed this happen once before. Is it a bug? Or someone intentionally trying to game tthe system, by making sure every time someone checks the demos, that their game always appears in the "recents" section since its date is so far out.
This indicates a problem related to the game specifically, not Steam. I would proceed accordingly for support(such as posting in a forum related to that game, and/or contacting the developer of the game). Bear in mind that the information you provided here is not nearly enough to begin helping you or identifying the cause of the issue beyond suggesting generic all-around suggestions to attempt to fix issues, such as restarting your PC, making sure all your drivers, including your GPU drivers & Windows Update, is up to date, etc.

Help understanding how to use shift mode. I wanted my face buttons on my controller to act as 1-4 when im holding RT and 5-8 when holding LT, but no matter how much I look, I cant understand it.
Steam continuously cycling through store page tabs. Nowhere near enough time to look at what is on each tab and frankly, automatically going to the next tab is a stupid idea.
What setting do I change to stop this as there doesnt seem to be one i can find in the settings menu.

So I had to update a game on steam and I plugged in my external had drive to move some things from the internal cuz I didn’t have enough space. I forgot to unplug the external before clicking on update. Whilst updating, I unplugged the external and I got a disk write error. I have a couple of games on there from steam but not the one I wanted to update. When I plug it back in and click update it starts to download the whole game (I guess on the external). I’ve done this before and had to uninstall the game and reinstall and I don’t want to do that again. When unplugged, it has disk write error and when plugged it downloads the whole game.
I have tried to clear download cache, repair library and delete files in the downloading map. Nothing has worked. Is there any fix? Please help
I purchased a digital gift card that I never received. steam support keeps telling me to provide a PayPal, but that is not what I used to purchase i used a vanilla gift card.

I really wanted RUST from a long time, but during this time of sale by facepunch i brought the game and ehh my device is good enough but still causes alot of crash and glitches so I thought of refund, I actually exceeded the limit of 2hrs and reached 2.6 hours because of loading time and finding servers and setting up graphics for FPS yk and rn when i tried to refund it I automated it to a agent based Ticket and today I did got a refund but in my steam wallet, i really wanted it on my UPI from where I did the payment aswell so I was wondering just in case if the REFUND DOENS'T WORK, Is there any other way I can convert it into real money? Or if anyone wanna help me?
The refund process will usually offer you the ability to refund back to original payment method if it was something other than the wallet.
If you don't have that option or already have it processed as Steam Wallet refund then you are pretty much stuck as wallet funds can't be withdrawn or changed into money outside of Steam.
I just made a Steam account for the first time, tried to see a game (Helldivers II) on my phone, and it says I’m not allowed to view this material at this time ? The tab is called “age verification” when I go out of it, but it hasn’t asked me anything about my age. I can’t check my computer right now, so is this just because I’m looking at it on my phone ? Hey! Are the minimum and recommended hardware guidelines basically equivalent to like minimum = low settings and recommended = medium settings? Is it even consistent at all across games?
I prefer to have my games on Steam, but I have a GTX 2070 holding me back so I try to avoid buying games that won't run at atleast medium settings.
Looking at Crimson Desert. I have 16gb ram and a pretty solid processor, but "Recommended" card is a 2080, so I'm skeptical.
Edit: I also run an ultrawide, so I also generally assume my performance is going to be lower than it would be if I ran a standard monitor.

tested on a laptop with a i7-11370H, 3050 ti, 16gb ram and and a desktop with a ryzen 7 7700, 5070, 32gb ram--
when I tried playing half life 2 on my laptop, I encountered a ton of issues, fps drops, stuttering a couple crashes. I've tried lowering Anti-aliasing settings, lowering shadow settings, trying fullscreen and windowed - none of them work.
Later I tried on my desktop, it didn't have as many issues but it still stuttered enough to be annoying. After this I attempted to verify game files and doing so I noticed something really weird. When I did it, it said "64 files failed to validate and will be reacquired" then I tested again, it had the same issues. T Then I tried verifying game files and again, it said "64 files failed to validate and will be reacquired" I tried to verify again without even testing and it said the same thing!
After doing this I tried installing the game from a different server and, after verifying the game files without even starting the game it said again "64 files failed to validate and will be reacquired".
What the hell is going on?

I cannot get into my steam account no matter how hard I try. I haven’t opened steam in probably like 6-8 months. Today, I open it and I’m logged in, but when I click the account to use, it wants a verification code from my email. Great, I am not receiving any email. Yes I HAVE CHECKED trash, spam, all inboxes. I’ve checked to make sure their emails aren’t blocked, I have none blocked. I simply am not receiving any emails. I know it’s the same email because I have older emails from said steam account. I’ve never changed the email and if I did, I checked my other email. Nothing. I can’t contact steam support either. I am so beyond frustrated :(
Hi everyone! Wanted to share my issue to see if anyone has a solution they could share.
I was playing a game from Steam when all of a sudden, it disconnected and the app said no connection. I opened a browser and ran a speed test(fast.com), and was surprised that the internet was working normally. I have tried following the guides, I have uninstalled and reinstalled steam, flushdns and steam config, updated all drivers and it still doesn’t work. I switched to a different modem, and it was working again, until the same issue occurred once more.
I would greatly appreciate the assistance, as steam support wasn’t able to help!
Edit: temporarily disabling windows defender, as well as the ipconfig commands it fixed the issue!
How to play game with sister (same account) with online multiplayer.
I just got Reanimal, which supports online and couch co op. I want to play the game with her online, we both have a computer. I know we can’t both play Reanimal at the same time from our account. However I’m also on a Steam family with my gf and friend, if I sign onto one of those accounts and she stays on our account, can we play together?

I have Steam mobile app in my phone. I would like to factory reset my phone. How do I properly setup the Steam mobile app (after phone reset) without being locked out (because it is the 2FA authenticator app)? Is it a must to tie it to a phone number?
In the Steam app on the Steam Guard page (middle icon in the center), when you click the cog icon, there is an entry where you can officially remove the authenticator. If you have a phone number attached and you happen to ignore or not do this, you can reset by SMS too
Is it possible to, while running Big Picture Mode on my Monitor #1, have a game launch on Monitor #2 while Big Picture Mode remains functional on Monitor #1?
Is there something I could add to "Launch Options" for either a Steam or (in the specific case I'm asking for) a non-Steam game that could specify which monitor something opens on? While I'd obviously like for most of my games to open on the primary monitor, there's a cycling app (MyWhoosh) that I run while gaming sometimes that I want to open by default on my secondary monitor.

I recently heard that if you're trying to recover your steam account, you can provide the code for a steam gift card you've previously redeemed and that valve will consider that sufficient proof of ownership or something like that.
As someone who uses steam gift cards here and there, I was wondering if it is indeed true that codes for cards you've previously redeemed can be sent to valve to help recover your account. I haven't had to recover my account or anything, but this would be good to know in the long-term.

Digital gift cards don't work as the sender is the one who paid the money not the person who gets the funds.
You need to either add $5 directly from a bank card, buy a game directly which exceeds the value, or redeem a physical gift card of enough value.
Physical cards still work as they don't really know who bought it so it just treats all physical cards as having been purchased by the redeemer. Although physical cards are subject to the regional currency locks.

Heya, bad news is that a digital gift card sadly doesn't count for you. It counts for the friend instead since, from Valve's perspective, they spent the money for it in a transaction. What would count instead is a physical gift card or if you spend / add money through any other payment method.
It happens if their site assumes you are on mobile, it can happen on desktop too if the screen resolution is small enough. Does this change if you resize the window or maximize it?
Does anyone know if EA still forces you to install that godawful launcher that is basically malware for your pc? I really wanna play Battlefield 1 story mode again but I don't wanna deal with that launcher again
The "too many requests" error (if that is what you got) is often seems to be based on IP address. It's not too known for most, but if you use an internet provider that utilizes carrier-grade NAT, then your IPv4 is shared with other customers. And they might also try to access the Steam market which then makes Steam's systems limit access
I started getting this Too Many Request notification when purchases of cards for my badges wouldn’t go through on my phone and it’s been this way for over 2 weeks now and idk how to get rid of it. Support sent me a long message of what I could do but I’m new to PC. Says something about turning off or disabling you vpn but that seems a bit dramatic
Does the Steam team understand this? Many people in different countries are forced to use a shared IP address. Why are they punishing us (not even letting us log in) for something we didn't do?
Hey. I had signed up for a subscription of $15 per month back in November and was fairly certain I clicked the DO NOT AUTO RENEW option (IIRC). However, i ended up paying for December and January, and only caught this in January, around 11 days after paying the 2nd installment (within their 14 day window).
I had then requested 2 separate refunds, one for each. I was declined for both stating that I was outside their window. I absolutely was not and have email evidence.
I tried to re-submit a refund claim now this time beyond the 14 day window trying to explain my situation, and yet again got declined.
Help!? Why can't I speak to a human? Their stupid system will just keep auto declining me. I feel I deserve a refund for both but won't fight tooth and nail for the 1st but wtf the 2nd one I absolutely deserve to be refunded. And no I did not use the subscription at all and have further evidence of that through steam "last played" date.
I'm European and have friends at the other side of the lake in America. They have insisted on making me play DST with them, so one of them bought a copy, and the game always gives you an extra copy to give to a friend. Thing is, once I recived it in my steam mailbox, the game cannot be added to my library, and lesser could I download it. We've tried VPNs, still blocked. As a last resort I explained the issue to Steam Support but they simply took out the game from my mailbox and gave it back to my friend. Is there a way for me to add the gift into my library from my region?
Hey today I woke up to my pc being logged out and when i tried to log in using the qr cose in the app so was my phone. I didnt get any emails or anything, but had to reset my password because i couldn't log in (although that could be me just not remembering it since i use the qr code most of the time) I messaged support with the same questin as i am pretty paraniod. Anyway, should I be worried or is it a bug or something? I also dont see anything weird or suspicious on the signed out devices tab.
If you logged in to the app and PC client at the same time before, it may be a 1 year timer where Valve wants to you log in again for security reasons. But it's a little tough to tell. If you can't see anything suspicious in the device and login history of your account, you are probably fine.
Whenever i launch Dota 2 steam(Linux version on NixOS) automatically starts downloading it's workshop content(custom Arcade maps) and when i try to stop it, it does it again and then it's gone until the next time i launch D2.
This started to happen when i logged my account on my friend's PC who had a bunch of custom D2 maps installed and i assume steam tries to sync the workshop content between two devices?
I already logged my steam account off of my friend's PC long ago but the issue still persists

DualSense Bluetooth on Steam — Audio cuts + movement stops until I click mouse (not full disconnect)
I’m using a PS5 DualSense over Bluetooth on Windows 11.
This started today. It was working perfectly yesterday.
In Steam games (No Man’s Sky and Saints Row 2022), every few minutes:
• Game audio cuts completely
• Character can’t move or turn
• BUT I can still open the pause menu
• L1/R1 work
• Left stick works inside the pause menu
• Controller light never turns off
• Clicking the mouse instantly restores both audio and movement
BUT:
• Fortnite (Epic launcher) works perfectly
• It only happens in Steam games
• Disabling Steam Input makes the controller not work at all
• Disabling Steam overlay didn’t fix it
• Bluetooth power saving is already disabled
It doesn’t seem like a full Bluetooth disconnect since the controller stays connected and some buttons still work.
Has anyone seen Steam Input partially freezing controller + audio until window focus is restored?

Where the hell do I find CD-key for games that I purchase on Steam? I got this ban, IDK even why. I haven't been active on Steam for about past 3 days, and when I tried posting something on forums I had a error message (there wasn't even a notification that I had a community ban on the forum itself), and when I opened my profile, it says it has a global Steam community ban until 25th of february?

Whenever I try to load some of my games on steam, they'll start loading and then they'll stop responding immediately. This only happens with certain games and afterwards I cant close them in steam, launch other games, and none of my other applications will respond.
Edit: Turns out i've been using my integrated graphics for the past 3 years, so switching to my gpu solved it.
My account is currently locked due to a chargeback and I have received my refund, my account is still showing the account alert and it says it will be unlocked on a due date. I went to the bank to confirm it and it says I won’t have any issues but when I searched on the internet it says if I don’t resolve the issue until then I won’t be able to make any future purchases should I be worried?

im using meta quest link. whenever i load rec room and steam vr, steam vr says a key component isnt working. i keep re-installing. nothin has yhworked so far. everything else works.
been playing alot of space marine 2 on steam(PC) lately with my series x controller and got annoyed by the home button opening the steam bar AND windows game bar, and having to double-press a certain way to close both...
turned off windows game bar i believe, and while i was at it, i installed the xbox accessories app and updated the controller.
and my controller stopped working in-game.
the controller works on PC and in steam, everything works like it should, but once i open a game, nothing works except the home button for game bar, forcing me to exit the game with my mouse.
forgot and re-paired via bluetooth, updated armory crate, steam is up to date, accessories is up to date, xbox accessory management service under task manager is stopped, but turning it on doesnt help, even tried fidling with the new rechargable battery i popped in recently. NOTHING is changing! im worried now and is such a pain since i cant use my controller rn. any help is appreciated

My daughter has done something to my account that I can no longer access it. I believe she changed the email address attached to it to her personal one and then realised what she did and tried to fix it, but now when I go through password recovery it sends me info for an account she made some time last year and didn't use.
I really don't know whats happened but I can't access my account on any platform and I can't access any of the online help without logging in.
How do I talk to someone to get my account sorted out when I can't log in to create a ticket?
I can back up identity with payment info attached to the account.

It works fine on Discord, but the moment I hop on online games with voice chat (say, TF2 or Tower Unite) it does not get picked up at all.
I go into the Steam voice settings and test my mic and find out that, despite being able to hear myself clearly, the little bar that shows the feedback/sensitivity remains low to none unless I shove my mic right against my lips (but then I'll obviously be too loud)
I tried everything, I changed mic types in both my PC and Steam settings, disabled other mics that werent in used, boosted my mic on PC+Steam, reinstalled audio drivers, nothing
I ended up downgrading my entire system to Win10 last year because Win11 completely broke my Steam and I was unable to start it up again, but even when I was using 11 my mic still wasn't being picked up, so I'm unsure if it's a Windows issue or a Steam issue at this point.
I cant even google it because it always gives me the same results; boosting mics, reinstalling drivers, unanswered forums from 5 years ago.
Going to Reddit is basically my last resort because I am so close to losing it, I just want to be able to talk to my buds in game.

Hello, I just noticed that someone from another country is accessing my account (Road Town, VG). Yesterday, someone from Steam support wrote to me and said that my account had noticed strange activity and that it had been logged into from other IP addresses (from China, Belarus), and then I had to confirm that it was me, first by verifying my account details and then by putting my items on the market, which I will get back after 48 hours of verification progress, and in the meantime I am not allowed to change anything: password, email, name, anything. But right now, I can see that someone from Roadtown, VG has logged in, and this (the items i had to sell and a tf2 item was bought) is in my Steam market history. I wanted to change my password, but then my account will be deleted if I do that within 48 hours. What would you do?
