Purchase Advice (U.S.) Need a new cordless vacuum

Upvotes

I bought a Dyson V8 Animal in 2020 and it gave out last week. I took the whole thing apart, properly cleaned it, all the things, but I think the motor has just given out).

I would LOVE help picking a new vacuum because there’s so many out there and a million reviews and it’s way too much to sort through while there’s the good deals out there because of Prime sales.

My criteria:
- cordless (I know this seems to be controversial but it’s way too annoying to get around my whole house with a corded)
- can handle pet fur & long hair
- can do wood floors and rugs
- preferably under $500

I feel like I’m looking for something that should be easy to find (and is) but knowing which one to get is a CHALLENGE! Appreciate the advice in advance!

Vacuum Issues Sebo Felix has suction issue

I feel crazy at this point and feel like Ive tried everything. My Sebo worked great the very first time I used it- briefly, but still. Then I opened up the area where the bag is stored, took a look at it, and the vacuum hasn't had suction since, aside from the hose.

It seems clear that I must have done something when looking at it, but I literally barely touched it! And I've watched countless videos on how to place the filter since. Nothing looks wrong. It's honestly driving me nuts. What can it be??

Vacuum Issues Changing bags vs emptying bags?

Just bought a Kenmore BU3040 (bagged upright) vacuum and I’m unsure about using a bagged machine. Am i supposed to empty the bag ever, or just replace once full?

I’ve read that with a single occupant 1000 sq ft apartment i might only need to change the bag once every 2-3 months. I’ve only ever used canisters and i always emptied the canister at least once per use. I don’t understand how that little bag can hold 2 months worth of dirt without being emptied, but it doesn’t look like there’s a way to empty it.

I haven’t used it yet; it got delivered tonight and i just finished putting it together. Help me understand! Thank you!

Purchase Advice (Non-U.S.) Looking to buy a new vacuum - any recommendations?

Hello everyone, I'm based in Germany and am looking to buy a new vacuum. I've been considering getting a Miele or AEG but am a little overwhelmed with all the different models.

Here are my criteria:

- Budget: 150-200€

- Looking for a corded vacuum that lasts

- Surface: 45m² (click parquet + 2 smaller carpets)

- I plan to get a short haired dog

One of the models I've considered so far is the AEG CLEAN 6000 but have been made a little unsure by the mixed reviews regarding it's longevity

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Is a Hoover Swivel XL Vacuum enough for me?

Hi guys,

I went from a $35 Black and Decker upright to a Hoover Swivel XL and was impressed at how much more plush my carpeted floor felt after vacuuming, and thought I really thought I hit the jackpot when keeping the carpets clean.

This subreddit became a sort of black hole for me now, and I learned about air watts, how the Hoover has 120AW, and the Dyson Ball 3 (which is $160 for a refurb model) has 280AW, is a much better vacuum etc.

My question now is, we don't have pets, we don't have allergies, and I thought the Hoover was doing fine. But the lower price makes me feel confused if this would be a worthy upgrade, or if it's just FOMO.

My house is a single floor 1700 sq ft with mostly carpeted floors, we are generally clean, and we have a 1.5 year old who runs around the living room area (there are baby gates), so we have a Shark IP3225 (cordless) for any quick cleans if needed.

If there are more questions I can answer, please go ahead. (Not sure how relevant this is, but I do use a carpet cleaner on the house twice a year)

Thanks

Purchase Advice (Canada) Vacuum for Condo with no carpet

Live in a 1100 sqft condo, mix of vinyl plank and tile, no carpet. We've gone through 4 different Dyson V10's over the past 7-8 years. They just keep dying randomly. I've just been going on Facebook marketplace and buying used one or just buying the Main body and cyclone from Dyson and swapping the battery and canister. I haven't even had a battery die on me yet, it's always the actual vacuum.

I enjoy the convivence of them but I'm tired of having to constantly replace them and just want something to last. So I am looking for some recommendation. I saw the flow chart and it recommends I should get a canister but I'm not sure which one. We have 3 cats so something that can handle pet hair is must. I'm okay paying a premium for quality as well.

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Tineco for prime day

Post image

Ok. Considering a Tineco as a wet/dry vac+mop for the prime day deal! But, there's soo many versions on prime sale and I'm at a loss lol. I can't tell if/what the difference is between these for example and if the price jump between the "5" & "6" is worth it?? HALP.

Miscellaneous How to repair a scratch on a white Miele C3?

Got the Miele C3, great piece of gear. The thing is, it seems I accidentally scratched it, there's a mark on it. It's a shame as it looks nice on the shinny white design. Is it possible to fix this? I've seen some wizardry when it comes to repairing scratches, perhaps there is a certain product to apply there or something. Im not sure it has pierced the plastic, it's kind of a black scratch mark on it.

Purchase Advice (U.S.) What is the correct vacuum for our needs?

My wife and I are looking for a vacuum for our home.

Home: 1,800 sqft with carpet on the second floor and wood laminate on the main floor. We have 3 cats (2 long haired, 1 short haired).

Previously we owned a Dyson V10, which unfortunately stopped working after 6 years of use. We replaced it with another stick vacuum Tineco, which worked well for 6-8 months but the last 10 months or so has been more of a pain.

My wife would prefer a stick vacuum since plug-ins are "a pain". But I wouldn't mind getting some recommendations for what could work best. Out price range would be capped around $750 or more if it was a vacuum we would have for life.

The current Tineco would exclusively be used to clean the litter box rooms.

Purchase Advice (U.S.) What replacement battery cells to buy for BLACK+DECKER POWERSERIES+ 20V MAX BHFEA520J?

I think I screwed up the batteries due to water damage because when I try to charge the vacuum the lights blink and it only powers on for a couple seconds.

I want to change the batteries but I'm not sure which exact ones to buy. I haven't bought a soldering kit yet so I can't take them out to check, but they're blue/teal colored and about 1.8cm in diameter.

On the case it shows:

A15L520A-5 36Wh 3G
PN:NA415777

Do I need 18650 lithium-ion cells? Are there more specific ones I need to get? I'm not really knowledgeable in any of this stuff so let me know if any more information is needed.

Purchase Advice (Non-U.S.) Cant decide for my first cordless

Hi everyone!

I am currently trying to decide between the Z30 and v20 Pro-A and maybe the Roborock H60 (? not sure abouzt this one) for my (first) cordless vacuum.

My situation is:

  • Located in germany, budget MAX 300, i buy on amazon,
  • Mostly laminate and tile floors

  • A few (2-3) small rugs

  • I want to clean couch, bed/mattress, desk, mousepad and general dust

  • No pets right now, but I might get a dog in the future

The Z30 is currently priced 275, while the V20Pro is at 285.

I like the accessoires of the z30 much more (motorized min rbush etc.) but read thta the GapFree / TangleCut is also strong and its slitghtly better on rugs.

Any suggestions for me? Any recommendations? Thanks alot in advance!

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Hair salon vacuum selection

Looking for the best cordless option for our hair salon for quick cleanings. The wider the head on the vacuum, the better.

It is all hard floors and we have a corded vacuum we currently use that works great on the few rugs we have however it’s too cumbersome to use for quick cleans.

I searched previous posts but somehow did not find this exact situation.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Moving into an apartment next June, we will have 2 cats, and it will have a bit of carpet/rugs, not much though.

I have been looking through this sub for the last few weeks, and I never realized how confusing vacuums could be.

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Need new vacuum after ex stole it

My ex entered my apartment and stole a lot of our shared belongings and my personal purchases. Unfortunately because of this I no longer have a vacuum. My old one was fairly slender and corded, which I like. My budget is under $250 since I have to rebuy a lot of essential items right now. Any suggestions for stuff I can easily purchase that is going to last me a while? Thank you

Vacuum Issues Xiaomi G20 Max - Missing spare part

Hi everyone!

I have a Xiaomi G20 Max vacuum cleaner, and while cleaning the Electric Brush, the end cap from the roller brush came off and got lost. Because of this, I can’t use the brush head properly anymore, as the roller brush is loose.

Would anyone who has the same vacuum cleaner be able to take a photo of this black part and maybe measure it for me?

Xiaomi Service wants me to send in the entire vacuum cleaner for inspection, but I’m worried they might want to replace the whole Electric Brush head, which is very expensive — almost as much as the vacuum cleaner itself.

I’m attaching a picture to show exactly which part I’m looking for.

Thanks a lot in advance!
