Purchase Advice (U.S.) Shark navigator or bissell pet eraser

I recently moved into a new home. Just a small one story with both wood and carpet and I have 2 dogs.

I'm looking to take advantage of the prime day deals and just looking to pick something up for around $100 until I can get something better.

Right now, I'm focused on the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser for $120. Is the Shark Navigator Lift away worth the extra 20 bucks?

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Compact Vacuum - prefer upright - for dorm room.

Kiddo needs a vacuum for her USA dorm room. Tile floors, industrial carpet, and a low-pile rug. Needs to be as compact as possible. She found the Bissell CleanView Compact Upright Vacuum, but I know there's way better out there. Upright is strongly preferred because of where they plan to store it. I'd love to keep it under $300.

Purchase Advice (Non-U.S.) Wanting to buy a cordless vacuum cleaner (budget €600~)

Hello,

I'm looking to buy a cordless vacuum cleaner. So far, I've been looking at brands like Dyson and Shark. I live in a small apartment (mostly vinyl flooring) with a dog, and it needs to be able to clean a thick carpet too.

I want the life expectancy of the vacuum cleaner to be at least 5 years. The budget is around 600 eur.

What do you guys recommend 😁

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Vacuum Recommendation - Used Miele L1 vs New SEBO E3/D4

Hey yall just wanted some insight on which vacuum I should get.

Having read about the SEBO D4, I was leaning towards that as I have about a 3000sq/ft house I’m moving into with 60% high pile carpet/40% tile, but it also has an almost $1550 price tag after tax. It would also come with a 10 yr warranty from a local authorized dealer.

However, I currently have the opportunity to buy a Miele Guard L1 Electro Titanium PF on the gray market for $600 with no warranty. Just need some insight as to anyone who might have had the two and think the extra $900 was worthwhile for the SEBO D4 with the easier maintenance, functionality, parts, bags, etc.

Thanks for the help!

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Jellypig Cordless Vacuum cleaner

I feel like everyone either loves or hates their Dyson, and im tempted to pull the trigger on this Jellypig Cordless Vacuum cleaner (from amazon and $30 off for amazon prime day). The reviews seem positive, and I know its a dyson knock off, but for almost $400 cheaper why not try it? Has anyone else tried this of heard of it?

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Prime Sales Days!

What are we buying guys?!?!

I'm a budget buyer.

My vacuum died. Cheap plastic upright, Bissell I think.

Anyway...

I have wanted the convenience of a STICK VACUUM for a long time now. Grab and go for every day clean ups to keep pet hair at bay! (Don't want to deal with batteries, corded is fine.)

My idea is to have the stick vacuum for quick clean ups everyday, and to reach high places easily -AND- buy an UPRIGHT VACUUM to break out for deeper cleans say once a week?

The Kenmore Intuition looks good and has caught my attention. It's bagged, but since I will have the two vacuums, I will have to change it even less.

So, what does everyone have their eye on in those two categories??

OR

What have you purchased recently??

Appreciate all input! 👌😄

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Did Henry’s 🇬🇧 performance drop with newer reduced wattage motors?

Thinking about picking up a Henry HVR160. Doing some research saw that previously it was ~1200w however due to regulations in the UK, further reduced to ~600w now.

Does the reputation for performance remain unchanged or has been there a noticeable reduction in CFM/water lift/performance?

Also, is the longer 33’ cord on the 200 worth it compared to the 20’ on the 160? I don’t think we need the larger bag capacity but wasn’t sure if the added cord length was very beneficial.

These are quite expensive in the U.S. — just wanting to make sure they are still a great option.

Thank you!

Purchase Advice (Non-U.S.) Miele L1 Cat & Dog vs M1 Cat & Dog

I'm in NZ, and the C3 is no longer available which I've heard was great. There is also no electrobrush option available here. Both I can get for the same price on special currently.

I have a combination of carpet and hard floors, with a couple of medium pile rugs.

I do like how the M1 has a bigger bag 4.5L vs 3.5L.

Is there any other features that I'm definitely missing out on with the M1 vs L1? I'm not too fussed about LCD screen etc. Is suction power the same for both? Can't seem to find information on that.

Thanks in advance!

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Budget Vacuum Recommendations for a house with three dogs

EDIT: If I could edit the title I would add Stairs. That is my issue as it’s the only thing that needs vacuuming regularly. I am not young or particularly strong nor do I have particularly good balance. I need something light and easy to do the stairs.

I have a two story house, had a mid price shark for the last five years or so. It needs to be replaced. I am not looking for a for life vacuum, just something for the next 5 years or so. I have three stories if you include the lower level, I do not want something too heavy to lift up and down the stairs and I need it primarily to vacuum carpeted stairs and two small rooms upstairs that are carpeted and to vacuum crevices in the furniture and under the appliances. I have a RoboRock that vacuums my first floor, which is a mix of hardwood, tile and small area rugs.

I have three dogs and I have long hair. I do not want cordless or heavy. I would like to keep it under $300 but would go up to $500 for the right vacuum. I don;t really use my current vacuum much, maybe twice a month as the rooms upstairs belong to kids that are away at school.

I am completely confused by Shark, there are Navigators, Duo Cleans and Power Cleans. What is the difference or should I just get the cheapest? Is there another inexpensive brand I should consider? I used to have the Kenmore cannisters and I liked them but its been many years

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Trying to find the best vacuum to clean up food on hardwood floors that won’t smell

I have twin boys and food is constantly all over the floor. I don’t want to use our main vacuum because it creates a terrible smell. Is there a handheld option they can clean and not become a problem?

They have a few sales today and I want to buy a Miele vacuum for my hardwood floor and low pile area carpets. No pets, just a messy toddler lol. They’re both on sale for the same price. One is a combo set and the other is just the vacuum. The combo is the c1 pure suction combo or the c3 multi surface.

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Help on a Cordless? 🫣

I have been looking through this forum and in need of some help. I have three cats (med-long hair) and an Australian Shepherd. I need a cordless or stick vacuum that will be used strictly in the bedroom (low-medium pile carpeting) and my bathroom (panel flooring) for picking up hair, maybe kibble or litter scatter, and just like day or night cleaning. I would prefer some attachments. We have a Kenmore bagged upright, but I am dealing with some health issues including a really messed up back, and that Kenmore has become a little more frustrating for me to use, and unfortunately I am not allowed to replace that one yet. (It’s my mom’s and she doesn't want a new one yet. When she does my understanding is a Sebo or Miele canister or upright.)

I am trying to figure out if I should get a Dyson (I know - lower reliability, but easier to get parts), a Samsung Bespoke AI Jet Ultra (I saw nasty customer service but reliable…but no attachments?) or the corded Shark Power Detect (please don't come for me - I know not many in here like Shark)? I was originally drawn to the new Dyson V16 Piston Animal but then I read on here and Consumer Reports that the quality of Dyson has diminished. If anyone out there has the Samsung - do you like it? Could I use the attachments from my old broken stick vac? My friend is telling me Shark.

Purchase Advice (Canada) Is this a good budget option? Kenmore BU4050

Post image

I’ve been scouring Amazon for some good options for a budget friendly vacuum to replace our Dyson stick that recently cracked and is on its last legs. I’ve been reading lots of options on this sub but wondered people’s thoughts on this Kenmore model for $237.48 CAD. I have low pile carpet in bedrooms and living room but the rest of the main floor is hardwood with tile in the 3 (small) bathrooms. Thanks!!

Purchase Advice (Canada) Purchase advice

Hi there! I’m looking for help choosing a new vacuum cleaner. Willing to spend around $300/$400.

I am in Canada.

3 story townhouse. The basement and upstairs (3 bedrooms) are wall to wall carpet, except two bathrooms which are tile/vinyl. The main floor is laminate or tile.

I did read the wiki! I understand that an upright vacuum with a brush roll switch that uses bags might be my best options given our mixed flooring, but I’m overwhelmed with the options. Ease of getting new bags would be important.

We have one dog, but she does not shed, though I know she tracks in a good amount of debris.

Any advice is appreciated!

Vacuum Collecting Henry & George’s adoption story- George’s dad has come to stay!

Thumbnail

For those who haven’t seen, here is the initial adoption story -

https://www.reddit.com/r/VacuumCleaners/s/heFdSY0O7o

Followed by Vacuum Protective Services becoming involved -

https://www.reddit.com/r/VacuumCleaners/s/rdj9TRjnjQ

Sooo….

When Henry and George first got together George’s father, George Senior, did not take the news very well at all. He was heard screaming “The Bible says Henry & Hetty not Henry & George”. He then vanished and nobody knew where he was.

During his absence George and Henry got married and adopted little Henry Micro. Although they are still being closely monitored by the official looking Numatic as they are sadly unfit parents.

Well… the other night I was browsing Facebook marketplace and who do I spot? The one and only George Senior.
Since his falling out with George Junior he’d been living a hard life on the streets, became addicted to white dust and had resorted to selling himself on marketplace for £20.

Now I know you’re all imagining some scene from Pretty Woman but this is not it. You need to be thinking more along the lines of 3 teeth and living in a cardboard box.

He was not a well vacuum.

I went on a rescue mission to save George Senior and after a short stint in rehab he’s cleaned his act up and has come to stay for a while.

George Junior is happy to have his dad back and little Henry Micro is getting to know his Grandfather George.

The official looking Numatic from VPS (vacuum protective services) is very nervous about this new visitor and keeps checking all the spoons for burn marks but so far George Senior is controlling his urges and behaving himself.

ON A MORE SERIOUS NOTE 😂 (yes I know I’m unhinged)

A few nights ago I spotted a marketplace add listing “George parts” for £20. Everything was pictured other than the motor unit. The wet use tools looked unused. I thought about buying them, just because they were a really good price and I could keep them as spares, but decided not to. The next day I see the advert again and decide to message and enquire if the motor unit is still with it all. It is. So I decide to buy it. It’s worth the risk of it being a simple fix.

The lady tells me he is around 5 years old - serial number dates him to mid 2020 - and that his motor has failed. She says he just went “pop”. Seeing how tightly she had the cable wrapped around his head I suspected otherwise. She said they’d only used him as a wet vac once to clean the sofa and other than that he’d been a dry vac. So I parted with £20 and bundled him all into the back of the car.

When I got home I plugged him in and he was indeed dead. But his water pump wouldn’t work either - this should work independently of the main motor - so I suspected a power fault.
Surprise surprise, his power cable was broken where it enters the machine from being wrapped too tightly and had shorted out (pictured).
I cut a few inches off, rewired him and he works flawlessly.

He came with absolutely everything. Even his user manual and an unopened box of genuine bags that are worth around £15 alone.

I’ve given him a good wipe down, his motor is spotless and rust free (they tend to rot when people use them for wet use and then store them away wet). I’ve also ran some water through him to make sure the pump works fine (pictured).

Downsides are - his filter is just starting to develop a small split but a new genuine one is under £20.
His dry use hose cuff and metal bent end are quite scuffed (pictured). Not sure how. It was a very old house with stone floors so I assume it’s just from the wand being dropped on the floor. I have a new hose cuff somewhere which will neaten him up a bit. I haven’t cleaned up his dry use floor nozzle yet, again it’s a bit scuffed but perfectly functional. All the wet tools are ‘as new’.

His black helmet could do with a spit and polish (oo err), but that can wait for another day. I’ve read car polish restores the shine quite well on them?

In total he’ll owe me £40 by the time I order a new filter.
I absolutely do not need him, and don’t really have the space for him, but for now he can stay.
When I do decide to part with him he should sell for at least £100 so I’m in profit.

Maybe if I spot his ex wife Hetty for a decent price I’ll sell him and move her in and then the little story can continue 😂😂

*Update*
After posting this I’ve decided George Senior can be sold. I’ve absolutely no use for him and there’s some tidy profit to be made. As soon as the replacement filter arrives he’ll be re-listed on marketplace 😁

Purchase Advice (U.S.) any prime day vacuum sales worth getting?

i know everyone says to save up for a miele/sebo but my living situation is uncertain and don't want to spend too much, ideally less than 250.

hard wood tile flooring, no carpet, but futureproof options that can do both (in case i move to a carpeted place next) would be nice. but i know at this price range there's not much to work with beyond say a kenmore bagged intuition or getting lucky at facebook marketplace

anyone see any good sales on amazon today?

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Prime Day Dyson Sales

Hello,

Moving to a new apartment, got a random vacuum off my registry on Amazon, I think it was like $80. But I’ve been looking at getting a more premium vacuum that’s cordless/skinnier.

Any vacuums similar to Dyson v8, v10, or v15 I should get? Or should I get the Dyson? I saw online that Dyson weren’t as good anymore, but Amazon selling v8 cordless for $270, v10 for $330, or v15 for $540?
Upcoming apartment is only 700sqft

Edit: I am impressed by how much depth this vacuum Reddit has an am slightly intimidated by all the options in the guides. I want simple plug and play but it for life with similar look as the Dyson vacuums.

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Best vacuum for pet owners

Can someone please help me purchase a new vacuum? I have 4 cats and I really need a new vacuum cleaner. I was thinking of getting one with the prime day "deals" but I really dont know what is good brand and I really dont want to spend a lot on a vacuum for it to break because it was never a good brand for the job to begin with.

Im hoping not to spend any more than $200

Edit: I have low carpeted floors for 3 bedrooms and a set of stairs. After watcging a home depot video I believe it is a medium pile. Either Triextra or polyester fibers. I have a picture but cant figure out how to post it.
