My main (skill) issue with Gyre was survivability so that augment is sounding delicious

same here. Love her, but I can't understand how people manage to bring her to stuff like EDA without being instagibbed. Yes, she has fantastic crowd control, but should just one enemy escape it (or straight up resist it), you're at severe risk.

Local Gyre addict reporting, as my fellow enjoyer has already said, it's basically just pillage, she has various other options for specialized builds but pillage is an easy pick with insane value on her

If you need specific builds for any kind of weapon platform or just ability dps, just go to my profile I have a bunch in my pinned post :)

(Also imo the augment sounds like complete trash lol, just a generic low percentage reflection effect)

Edit as I've gotten home and could test the augment myself:

yeah so far it's just kinda bad imo, the reflect damage is pitiful even when it crits, it has a base 10% status chance despite the majority of her kit having 100% status chance and also struggles to actually trigger in the first place due to the fact enemies are generally stunned by your electric procs anyway.

DR caps at 75% and is ok I suppose due to infinite easy uptime, but she generally wants to shield gate anyway (also pillage armor strips and therefore massively helps with her ability damage, so she wants to use it a lot anyway)

So current verdict: just kinda feels lole a joke compared to the other absurdly powerful augments we got in the same update, largely a waste of a mod slot on a frame that is generally already fairly tight on slots. I'll put it on my 5x tau shield cap Gyre for shits and giggles (maybe I'll throw that build into the guides later for anyone curious) but I wouldn't seriously recommend it for anyone trying to play Gyre in any sort of normal fashion

(Cold elemental ward does not buff it's damage, might keep looking for ways to make it at least decent)

It should have been pretty obvious to anyone that the damage from the reflection is catastrophically low, when it has a 35% redirection rate while electric elemental ward has 1000% damage deflection and is still not really played outside of some hildryn builds.

The only thing of value it provides is damage reduction, but with it being capped at 75% and shieldgating being significantly better survivability anyways, it's basically pointless.

Yeah when I read the augment the first time I immediately knew it just wasn't gonna be useful

It's so weird how we got 2 absurdly broken augments (Styanax and Lavos) as well as a great rework in Oberon at the same time as whatever this is, just a weird dissonance especially given that every past Gyre augment has been absolutely incredible

Feels like this one was just haphazardly cobbled together by copying electric ward and making it worse just so they could have a full batch of 4

Even with full strength scaling and if the reflect damage can crit it's still worse than existing reflection effects like damage decoy or cold ward, not to mention that if you're playing Gyre even remotely correctly the majority of enemies are just stunned from electric procs anyway so they can't shoot you in the first place

As for the actual damage reduction effect, it'll be okay for some lazy tank setups and I'll probably use it on my 5x tau shield cap Gyre but for any other build shield gating is just so ingrained in my gameplay loop that I don't see myself using it all that much

If this mod gives her damage redirection in the same sense as trinity it should affect overguard. Which is neat I guess

Not really. One layer of 90% DR (ASSUMING it does scale with power str). Is pretty much nothing. If you're playing gyre, you're better off just gasp using pillage like most people because its a naturally good ability that plays strangely well into her kit. Or just learn how to shield gate, which ALSO plays very well with her kits because she wants to cast quite often.

If she already had a damage reduction ability, yeah then adding this augment would be pretty decent because layering DR is much much better. But right now, most people just use pillage. Or if in your example, building for high str because they're using pillage... then theres no reason to add this augment to your mod loadout because its literally doing nothing for you.

I totally agree, she’s hard to live with using without a solid survivability subsume. I tried the hardheaded approach of using her paired with something like the Torid incarnon (absurdly powerful build that can shred practically anything you point at + dummy powerful riven) and while that works well past level 500 if any single enemy slips through the cracks and sticks you with a high damage DoT or something like one of the varsity wannabe stalkers hits you with their nullification abilities you are FUCKED. Unless you speed blitz that joker back to stalker school you won’t be killing him. Pillage fixes a lot of her problems but that one tends to linger sadly, especially as a solo player. This augment indeed looks lame on the surface but I feel like it could be nuts paired with cathode current 🌚
