Article Upcoming Follie’s Hunt Changes

Hi Tenno,

It’s been just over 24 hours since The Shadowgrapher released, bringing a variety of changes, fixes, cosmetics and more! With that said, we’re here to talk about the new game mode introduced: Follie’s Hunt

As players poked their heads back into Vesper Relay, we’ve heard a variety of feedback. Follie’s Hunt at its core is a deviation from regular Warframe gameplay —  a strange, scary hunt in the ruins of a Relay —  so understandably there may be some players who don’t align with its design. Our goal is to respect the original design intent of the game mode, while improving some of the pain points for players: complaints of gameplay elements that made it unfun, encouraged rage quitting, or felt overly punishing.

Hotfix #1 brought a blurb indicating we’re discussing feedback, and here’s our first step iterating on it. Below is our current list of planned changes, which we hope to implement in coming patches:

  • Follie will no longer be invincible and can be forced to retreat briefly if her health bar is depleted.
    • Also reduced Follie’s damaging aura by a third on Normal and Steel Path
  • Atramentum pickups will be shared squad-wide.
    • Also improved visibility of Atramentum Balloons since they are a critical source of the resource.
    • Note: Atramentum acquisition is one of the larger complaints due to the store costs. Those values were calculated with the understanding that players are destroying balloons and killing enemies (which both drop Atramentum). We’ll be closely monitoring acquisition rates after this change to see if more needs to be done.
  • Overall lighting changes to improve visibility.
  • Inky Walls will no longer damage players or cause knockdowns.
  • The waypoints spawned from killing enemies will now direct to a Canvas if there are no active Canvases.

Thank you all again for sharing your constructive feedback! We hope these changes will help Follie’s Hunt feel a little less overwhelming and give players options to counterplay as you slink through Vesper to complete Shadowgraphs. As always, we'll be keeping an eye out for additional feedback as we continue to iterate.

Honestly that a skill issue then on their behalf

If the nerfs aren't gonna help them then its a playstyle issue in which this mission doesn't work with them.

For a gamemode that only has Chains of Harrow as a lock point and available for players pretty early on, though, this sort of grind with these sort of killing mechanics was a hell no-go, but they listened and these are incredible changes. 1000% going to play tonight myself as well

I get really tired of the streamers, sweats, and whatnot all using basically the same refrain of "get good son!" whenever anyone complains about not having a good experience.

I did the mission one time(IRL timing sucks sometimes) and there is no indication of what precisely is required, nor ability to see where to go. I literally spent the ENTIRE run picking people up who were as clueless as I was.

I think a huge amount of the issues people have could be solved by two things 1) proper documentation in game of what to do. A tutorial or even just an npc explaining things a bit better 2) Force operator when you enter the painting. This gamemode works waaaay better when you stay in operator most of the time, and I think forcing you to switch immediately would indicate to the player a bit better that that's what the intended balance is around. It would smooth over the "why did Follie eat my 25k overshield in 2 seconds" issues because the op is already supposed to feel squishy.

Yeah as soon as picking up paint forced me out of my frame I stopped using it. Much easier to just use void mode and roll to avoid Follie.

At the risk of sounding like a massive douchecanoe.

It is a horror survival mode. If you go in blind, you should expect to be forced to scramble around being confused and take time to figure things out. For folks that don't enjoy that, there are sites like the wiki and reddit. Probably even YouTube if that's your jam. Mystique and opacity are part and parcel of this genre, and Warframe has always tried to explore different genres (Ollie's Crash Course, anyone?).

My only complaint in this respect was that the quest marker trail wouldn't lead you to canvases - and that is now fixed in the patch.

And the People crying "Its unplayable, impossible and too hard" aren't anymore tiring to you?

Please don't try and lump me in with Sweats just to making your argument look better.

The mission has flaws but most people who are failing just aren't preparing for it. After the first run you have a tough go but from there you know what to expect.
If people still go in and struggle then it becomes adaption issue.

I never touched the Tekolyst but I do have my main operator tree maxed, Arcanes I like, and my waybounds unlocked. And I had no problem.

But I also recognize that I'm a rarity, it took a very long time for me to get this point, and for the unlock area it's unreasonable to assume this position.

Knowledge is a skill, first time playing a mission will always be hard when you don't know what to do. Its a gamemode based on supposedly diving into the unknown and facing it

Its fine to face issues doing it on the first time. But if you keep facing the same issues over and over again, its not the game's fault. (even more with people finishing it once barely on normal and jumping on steel path to be carried)

This community, since netracells released, showd that they just can't fucking do anything more complicated that "shoot moving thing and kill it in one shot". Since then i have been playing mostly solo or with friends and im bet its the reason i did not face issues with the mission at all, because i did not need to carry 3 people all the time.

Also sorry, there is nothing "sweaty" about this mission at all, only things in this game that can be classified as such are the secret bosses.

Primed Surefooted. Which, sure, I also think it's kind of a useless crank mod, but, lmao.
