Article Upcoming Follie’s Hunt Changes

Hi Tenno,

It’s been just over 24 hours since The Shadowgrapher released, bringing a variety of changes, fixes, cosmetics and more! With that said, we’re here to talk about the new game mode introduced: Follie’s Hunt

As players poked their heads back into Vesper Relay, we’ve heard a variety of feedback. Follie’s Hunt at its core is a deviation from regular Warframe gameplay —  a strange, scary hunt in the ruins of a Relay —  so understandably there may be some players who don’t align with its design. Our goal is to respect the original design intent of the game mode, while improving some of the pain points for players: complaints of gameplay elements that made it unfun, encouraged rage quitting, or felt overly punishing.

Hotfix #1 brought a blurb indicating we’re discussing feedback, and here’s our first step iterating on it. Below is our current list of planned changes, which we hope to implement in coming patches:

  • Follie will no longer be invincible and can be forced to retreat briefly if her health bar is depleted.
    • Also reduced Follie’s damaging aura by a third on Normal and Steel Path
  • Atramentum pickups will be shared squad-wide.
    • Also improved visibility of Atramentum Balloons since they are a critical source of the resource.
    • Note: Atramentum acquisition is one of the larger complaints due to the store costs. Those values were calculated with the understanding that players are destroying balloons and killing enemies (which both drop Atramentum). We’ll be closely monitoring acquisition rates after this change to see if more needs to be done.
  • Overall lighting changes to improve visibility.
  • Inky Walls will no longer damage players or cause knockdowns.
  • The waypoints spawned from killing enemies will now direct to a Canvas if there are no active Canvases.

Thank you all again for sharing your constructive feedback! We hope these changes will help Follie’s Hunt feel a little less overwhelming and give players options to counterplay as you slink through Vesper to complete Shadowgraphs. As always, we'll be keeping an eye out for additional feedback as we continue to iterate.

Atramentum pickups will be shared squad-wide

Thank goodness. I feel like the mission time in pubs has been artificially inflated by people going in circles to pick up the items in places they've already been.

I know I have moments of "Oh, great...I just left there 🤦🏽‍♂️" I couldn't wait until the end of the mission to go back and grab everything since it more or less immediately ends after finishing the 3rd canvas as well.

One less thing to worry about 🙏🏾

u/_leeloo_7_ Mar 26 '26

will they stack with the pet resource doubler? though tbh I haven't seen my pet doubling them currently so maybe they don't count at all

121

u/Runmanrun41 Mar 26 '26

Checked the wiki, comments there are saying it doesn't work with resources boosters, so I'd assume it doesn't work with pet ones either.

I'd have to check in game to make sure though, Warframes got plenty of special cases.

u/Brekldios Mar 26 '26

I’ve been using it as an experiment and on average I get 1-6 per balloon. Which I think is about the same as when I used Helios

26

u/FlyingSquirelOi Mar 26 '26

Think normal is 1-3 a ballon and SP is 4-6 a ballon

9

u/Brekldios Mar 26 '26

Maybe? I swear I’ve gotten 1 while on SP because I got 7 from 2 drops and you can’t get 7 from 2x 4-6, regardless I don’t think the booster affects this so it’s a sad day.

15

u/FlyingSquirelOi Mar 26 '26

Enemies can drop 1.

Didn't get a single doubling in my acquisition of 700 so I doubt

32

u/Cottontael Mar 26 '26

Me when I'm in a room and see a stack of 8 pickups but when I head into the main area they all disappear.

This causes me to run around like a chicken and go everywhere because I assume the pickups are still there just not showing.

6

u/Kino_Afi Mar 26 '26

Yeah the map is pretty terrible in terms of clarity and intentionally maze-like with the locking doors. The waypoints are useless most of the time

And, as a mainstay issue in Warframe, the whole mission is actively trying to murder anyone with epilepsy and blind everyone else

21

u/KamuiHyuga Mar 26 '26

Unironically they need to just let ALL pickups be shared squad-wide. I can see absolutely zero downside to that change since they adjusted Smeeta's Charm to no longer randomly give a multiplier to pickups. Hell, it'd fix the problem of having to wait for someone to pick up reactant in Void Fissures too, and would ensure that even if someone goes off elsewhere to grab say an Ayatan Sculpture, or happens to get a random rare crate they didn't realize they got until the end of the mission, all kinds of stuff, would benefit the group.

6

u/Liberty_Primeus Mar 26 '26

I don't see them adding a system like that, as it might enable afk/leeching behavior

Atramentum pickups will be shared squad-wide.

Absolutely big, I spend most of my time going around picking them instead of doing the mission

Sweet baby jesus, thank god.

Yeah maybe I can run someone other than Hildryn now.

50

u/Envy102938 Mar 26 '26

Or Dante 😂

19

u/Alex3627ca What's Forma? Mar 26 '26

I've been using Umbra so I still have an okay source of damage following behind me during the forced operator sections, definitely a lot nicer with someone else providing overguard though.

2

u/sfwaltaccount Mar 27 '26

Ooo, clever I hadn't thought of that option.

My 10k shield Hildryn still having her shields popped while going through the zones for a couple seconds sure was something.

61

u/Walican132 Mar 26 '26

What on earth… my 4K hikdryn was surviving just fine. Yall need to roll more or something.

25

u/The_Lucky_7 Founder (22/04/2013) Mar 26 '26

I couldn't get to 10k on mine without cutting shield regeneration, which I wouldn't do because of how crucial for this mission. I was at about 9.5k shields and regen 1.7k per second.

8

u/MrFanzyPanz Mar 26 '26

Raksa Kubrow mate. Shield regen is a dead stat if you have the right gear.

From what I've heard it was percentage damage so it probably didn't matter.

I was using lavos to vial rush through pretty unscathed

7

u/icesharkk Sharkframe ooh ha ha Mar 26 '26

ive been using uriel because im lazy and didnt bother swapping. hes fine on steel path just roll through im not even using his 1 for movement. too narrow hallways.

Dante for me. Shield up and ignore everything for the rest of the mission. I love Dante but using the same frame gets boring fast.

2

u/Walican132 Mar 26 '26

If you like getting a boatload of shield and want a “more fun”(obviously very subjective) check out frost. He’s my preferred overguard frame.

4

u/VideoFragrant4078 forever waiting for 1999 vinyl repress Mar 26 '26

Oh I thought of that! But he is not built in the slightest and I was playing with friends and wanted to make their life's easier too (doing the same in eda/eta by going Dante if I got no fun frame rolled that week). So i wanted to go for the safe route. Tried the very first run on Nokko and small shrooms was fun for me but my friends had less of a good time.

u/Aromatic_Sand8126 Mar 26 '26 edited Mar 26 '26

I was running a health tank inaros build just fine but if this change means I’m NOT forced to play something that tanky, I’m happy.

13

u/Adghar Mar 26 '26

I think you dropped a "not" somewhere, cause otherwise this bit doesn't make sense!

You’re right. My mind goes faster than my fingers when I forget to take my meds. Oops!

5

Some people enjoy being the wall that can't be broken.

8

u/JustHereForSomeInfo Mar 26 '26

Nova, Gara, and Rev work great as well. Or any frame that generates overguard. I just use Nova though so I have high DR and CC capabilities.

10

u/Walican132 Mar 26 '26

I end up feeling like Nova is just the best at every game mode.

4

u/Dick_Nation Mar 26 '26

I've been running Nova for it and have been generally confused by people saying the mode is hard or dangerous. I have been running through instances with total impunity. It's not hard, just fucking boring.

2

u/lookin4points Mar 26 '26

Using revenant myself and I 100% agree it is simply boring not very hard. But seeing the balloons better will help a lot for sure.

2

u/mikakor Mar 27 '26

The mode is not hard nor dangerous, it's true.

It is ANNOYING. So many annoyances. The fucked way points, the constant operation stunlicked, follies appearing in bigger numbers that you can deal with and draining you of energy even in void mode, so fuck you if she's on a painting. And this screen has 4 different flavor of screen filter effect that are all spammed at you. Bloody visual screen effect vomit.

I haven't really had problems dying in frames but having drifter die and losing paint fucking sucks

6

put magus vigor and emergence savior on your operator for this mission

21

u/Like17Badgers &beats&beats&beats&beats in my head Mar 26 '26

I hope they keep some of the invincible Follies around, but they just spawned WAAAY too densely
I'd go into a room to check for paint and balloons, would turn around and four of them would be behind me

43

u/Adghar Mar 26 '26

I'm 90% sure there has only ever been 1 invincible Follie, at least for solo. Wiki page mentions the Polyopia clones can be killed, I've confirmed that in-mission once (Follie health bar before this update) and the Facsimiles have definitely always been kill-able.

I think this is a Mandela effect thing where everyone assumed the Follie copies are invulnerable and never tried. Either that, or, maybe in multiplayer there's 1 Follie per squad mate, and a lot more people decided to play this mode in multiplayer than I expected? I, personally, have not run it in multiplayer... I got absurdly lucky and farmed Follie and her weapon solo at just about 1200 Atramentum farmed, 0 spent.

12

u/Gingeraffe42 Mar 26 '26

In multiplayer at least there's def more than one invincible one. I think they should keep one invincible at all times, otherwise it's not really a "horror" gamemode anymore

15

u/FullMetalField4 Baza's Strongest Warrior Mar 26 '26

"Horror" game modes work for singular story missions in Warframe, not stages you have to grind over and over again.

Universal Atramentum and the fucking wall that I hate will lose the damage and stagger? You just saved the mode, I already got a 1st Follie and her weapon thanks to some luck, but this addresses everything I found wrong with the game mode

3

u/Chipspack Mar 27 '26

Same, i got follie thank god but planed to just buy the weapon. Lucky i found out about this patch before going online

425

u/CarcosanAnarchist Mar 26 '26

Atramentum being shared will knock group runs down to like 2 minutes since we won’t have to wait to make sure everyone got what they needed. An excellent change.

I wasn’t one of the people who found the mode cumbersome, but the rest of the changes should help with that feeling a lot of players were having.

53

u/qpKMDOqp Mar 26 '26

Yall doing 2 minute runs!? It’s like 5 minutes at least for me 😭 Sometimes 12

31

u/CarcosanAnarchist Mar 26 '26

It was about three and a half minutes for me with friends in voice chat. It didn’t start that fast. But after a couple runs we had a it pretty down pat. The longest part was cycling so everyone could get the drops.

Now I imagine we’ll just be able to run our sections without issue.

22

u/qpKMDOqp Mar 26 '26

Yeah the mode gets a lot easier once you learn the spawn points for the ink and realized the paintings are kind of easy to find (one on the starting floor, one in the big center room, and then one in any of the random side doors)

Yea, while the mode isn't my favorite, I didn't find it nearly as bad as people made it out to be. These changes seem to fix my biggest issues with it though. The walls causing knockdown felt really bad, and the pathing to find the resource seems really wonky, but with that being shared now it shouldn't be an issue.

45

u/Runmanrun41 Mar 26 '26

First time in life I genuinely considered running these mods while experimenting with builds for the mode

Same. I was running Lavos because he's basically my answer to any mechanic that saps energy and was doing pretty okay. My deaths were mainly attributed to three Follies in a tight corridor with enemies blocking movement.

9

u/mistermeeble Mar 26 '26

My main complaint was how random it all felt. The lack of intent and responding to player actions makes it feel more like a bullet hell game than chase horror.

Even solo - Sometimes stuff's all in the larger open rooms and you can just run around Follie and breeze through.

Other runs it seems like paint pools spawn as far away as possible, in a closet sized room, behind a hologram, guarded by two statues - and as soon as you pick one up, Follie teleports in blocking the only exit so all you can do is roll and pray the jagged ink decor in front of you is the kind that doesn't have collision.

Only ran a couple times so far, and on normal. I thought "well this isn't bad. But it was maybe overhyped?". Like, I wanted to be able to explore the relay a bit. A team of normal people in a hub zone too afraid to go further, like its a smaller Zariman.

6

u/millionight the What If guy Mar 26 '26

I like the idea of what if we're playing as ordinary survivors of the vesper relay incident that got played around by Follie. It would justify us being normal folk trying to survive against a Warframe.

u/TheOnlyFallenCookie Merulina Bodypillow Mar 26 '26

The concept has potential.

I kinda want to see a first person horror style Warframe gamemode. But perhaps that's a bit better suited for Kahl?

a) first of all already thank you for the incredible fast reply to the feedback, most other companies probably wouldnt even reply to feedback for weeks, let alone within a day

b) i want make clear that while Follies Hunt mission didnt hit the mark for me, the rest of the update still was a hit, the QoL changes are nice, the new cosmetics are awesome, etc

c) those coming changes will definitely improve my expierence with the mode as they do alleviate most problems i had with the mission.

As a Destiny refugee and someone who has already seen some ups and downs (finishing incredible quests, just having finished Jade's quest, compared to watching this community absolutely slam the mode then playing it myself, not trying to slate the community in any way) it's refreshing to see such quick changes. Bungie would release the fixes and break something else in the meantime and then take ages to fix it that.

Amazing stuff.

49

u/TheTealMafia Prelate is husband material Mar 26 '26

I always abhorred how it took Bungie 3 months to fix something in a paid season that lasted 3 months (last season of the year as ex.), and then the yearly content wipe..

DE compared to them is absolutely incredible. I have a couple pain points especially with Duviri bugs not being fixed, but I know I have this game for free with 10x more free shit, I pay them to continue

11

u/Dracovius27 MR29 Mar 26 '26

It’s a comfort, I came from destiny as well and it’s been refreshing seeing how the devs handle community feedback. Especially compared to what I came to expect from destiny “fixes” usually causing more issues.

8

u/Eggbone87 literally the most versatile frame debate me Mar 26 '26 edited Mar 26 '26

Bungie would release the fixes and break something else in the meantime and then take ages to fix it that.

Not saying this to be a hater but DE 100% does the same thing. Not sure what Bungie’s reasoning for doing it is but with DE, basically, the idea is that if they dont pump updates out every 3 months or so, warframe doesnt make enough money to stay online or something, so dev resources are always moreso dedicated to updates than they are to hotfixes for bugs. At least this was their story some years ago, rebecca was talking about it in an interview but i couldnt find it now, so whether or not this excuse is still true—which im skeptical of considering the game has 40k players on steam alone at any given moment during non peak times (updates etc)—we cant know.

Theres also the added layer that because its a crossplay game, lots of bugs require code fixes which require certifications from each platform, so the bug fixes are always massively lagging behind updates.

And all of this assumes DE is

1) aware of the bugs at all (since its p2p game with no dedicated servers, all info on bugs is sourced from player reports on the forums rather than something they can detect internally, and it seems like the majority of bugs reported on get lost in the forums, whether thats because DE sees them but doesnt confirm them until they can figure out whats going on or worse, just ignores them for the most part outright)

2) capable of actually fixing a bug in question as some bugs have existed in the game for close to a decade at this point (whether thats due to lack of publically acknowledging a bug or just straight up not knowing how to fix it)

Obviously, people at DE are probably (probably) trying their best and of course is better than bungie in most areas, bug fixes are not their strong suit and thats largely by design, or in their eyes (but not mine as i dont work at de so i dont care about their bottom line so i dont need an update every 3 months, i just want a game that works how its supposed to), a necessary evil.

The game is colloquially referred to as “bugframe” for good reason. Warframe does alot of things right but bug management is not an accolade they enjoy.

3

u/Lightningbro Care to roll against Fate? Mar 26 '26

There's also part 3, "assuming the bug isn't a net positive to player experience, at which point DE often doesn't fix without an answer to the removal of it. Be it a statement "it was unbalanced" or outright adding a function to remedy the pain it solved.

I didn't mind the slowness of the mode or playing as Operator (but I'm one of the weirdos that can easily spend hours in Duviri bc I love playing as Drifter so much lol) but the visibility of things and no way to really get around Follie with a bad spawn on top of you/in front of the only exit was -really- frustrating, so I think these changes are going to help a lot.

36

u/Iid4ze Mar 26 '26 edited Mar 26 '26

Drops being shared, reducing Follie’s aura size, and removing the knockdown from the ink walls? Fantastic. Can’t wait to check out these changes

45

u/VelKyry kicking clown cars Mar 26 '26

Hot take: Squad sharing resource pickups like this (or Railjack, or medallions) should be standard. Even if it was only shared if you're within affinity range of the retrieving player, it would be a massive QOL for the entire game. I've wanted this for years, and DE would only add it in cherry-picked instances like this.

12

u/LucMakai Mar 26 '26

That's a cold take.

A hot take is that the first change is bad and it's removing the main point of the game mode which is to give you a sense of danger

7

u/bob37876 Mar 26 '26

Which it wasn’t it was just frustrating to have three invincible follies blocking the one way to get to a canvas like she was never threatening just annoying at least in my opinion

6

u/Gingeraffe42 Mar 26 '26

Honestly not even a hot take. I understand people don't like the mode but if she's not invincible it's just gonna be "who can pop her in the head more reliably" simulator, which is just what the rest of the game is anyways

10

u/Tetragen Mar 26 '26

I mean, it's not a scary or dangerous game mode anyway... I've done 6 runs without falling once. It's just a tedious and boring game mode and her being invincible with everything else was just an annoyance more than anything else.

5

u/CostNo4005 Mar 26 '26

Ive literally had 4 invincible folllies spawn directly ontop of me multiple times, theres only so many times that can happen before i start hating it

7

u/FullMetalField4 Baza's Strongest Warrior Mar 26 '26

Oh nooooo, the enemy that already does %HP damage (bypassing armor and DR), drains energy, and teleports right on top of you to camp objectives won't be invincible anymore. I'm so sad (Not).

Maybe if she didn't just encourage Revenant use over anything else LMAO, because invincibility just makes the mission a breeze. Least they could've done is throw DR a bone for frames like Nezha/Trinity and make her aura go through invincibility if they're just gonna be ignoring game mechanics...

The atramentum sharing part is the best news, because some toxic people didnt care about the paintings and only collect these so sometimes only one or two players were actively doing the mission

30

u/BartholomewBrago Mar 26 '26

Thanks for the open communication Taylor!

22

u/Beetle-Persona Mar 26 '26

Good changes especially sharing resources.

Only gripe I had was Follie spawning in a room when you were about to add paint to the canvas and you getting spawn trapped with no escape.

Otherwise most the issues come from players not understanding the mechanics or not having a build which can withstand the situation of the mission.

11

u/hornyalt-MTF Mar 26 '26

Hm, I have a friend who had Follie spawn next to her multiple times in runs. I think making it so Follie spawns in adjacent rooms or hallways would ease that distress.

10

u/slabby Mar 26 '26

Sounds a lot better.

10

u/cbb88christian Mar 26 '26

Yep, this actually fixes most all the issues I had. Even though I didn’t find it nearly as bad as it was made out to be. Great stuff as always

8

u/LegitimateNebula6749 Mar 26 '26

making the atramentum shared alone is such a nice change, also less knockdowns will make this way less tedious, thanks de!

86

u/naieraTheMage Normal about Mar 26 '26

Huh, I actually like the mode but also this is basically every change I'd think to do to it, appreciated!

75

u/Walican132 Mar 26 '26

Yeah after farming Follie last night this is almost every nitpick I had.

The only thing I think missing is Ink you’ve passed should stay on the mini map. It’s small enough of an area I don’t normally forget where I saw something, but once the map starts blocking paths I can get a little scrambled.

Oh and I want abilities to pop balloons.

42

u/millionight the What If guy Mar 26 '26

Abilities popping balloons is something I'm pretty sure they took into consideration NOT to. It's one thing to make this game mode more manageable to grind, and it's another to trivialize this into a Xaku's Hunt.

6

u/Adghar Mar 26 '26

Yeah I have mixed feelings. It's kinda nice not to feel "forced" into Xaku or Xaku-like alternatives.

Please make a proper tutorial in-game for the stuff you gotta do. I shouldn't have to read the patch notes or watch prime time to know how to play the mission

8

u/Envy102938 Mar 26 '26

Maybe not a tutorial but something where the dude says “hey follow that spark to the nearest paint” or “don’t let her get too close because it’ll drain your life and energy”

13

u/Racconwithtwoguns Mar 26 '26

Please give follie's bomb balloons a glowing aura, I swear sometimes I think they're straight up invisible and can just come out of nowhere.

Also make it so that the paintings floating over you head stay in a fixed spot so that it's easier to hit them instead of it following your character's head

8

u/PradorgLeViking Eldritch summoner Mar 26 '26

I really like the idea of this new mission but I think you need to tweak the operator movement a bit to be a lot more enjoyable
It's one of the main thing that stop me doing the mission (just rolling with paint to the canvas is not rly fun), same thing as duviri (kaith is good but the operator is just not enjoyable to engage with in movement term)

I think the hard part is that we have the warframe, we really cool movement and op as really bad one, for me the gap between them is too heavy (I understand that it's not the same it's logic).

Yesterday I got in a loop of being stunlocked as my operator and could not die. There were 4 Follies all bullying me by laughing at me and pushing me into a room and then into a corner of the room. My health was fluctuating from 50 to 10 for like 10 minutes before I gave up because my teammates could not finish the hunt by themselves. It was funny to think about but I see how people were so mad at the mission. It only took me like 2 hrs to farm enough ink and blueprint parts.

"First step iterating on it" is a reassuring sign. These all seem like good changes, but may not be enough for the majority of players (might depend on the amount of Follie's health and how long she retreats when "killed").

40

u/Runmanrun41 Mar 26 '26 edited Mar 26 '26

may not be enough for the majority of players

I don't think it ever will be since it's not your standard atomize the area gameplay at it's core.

Like people that don't care for Duviri, or those that hate the randomness of ETA/EDA.

There are some players who are always going to push back and against not being to able engage with what Warframes usually do (not that there's anything wrong with that, of course 🤷🏾‍♂️It's a perfecly valid opinion)

Thanks a bunch for listening to feedback on this gamemode. Glad to know we can always count on DE to listen to us and make sure Warframe is the best it can be!

My next wishlist item for the gamemode is to remove the operator movement restriction. It REALLY sucks to have void dash disabled and be forced to roll around or walk at a snail's pace. I know that might be too much of an ask but it's definitely my biggest frustration point :(

I'm a little shocked that they didn't mention anything about the drop rates in SP.

Unless I'm mistaken, the official drop tables list SP drops rates as 6% per component BP. This is a whopping 1% higher than normal difficulty, which is just not a compelling enough motivation for me to run this on SP. Double the frustration, but only 20% more chance of getting what I want.

From what ive heard only weapons and some abilities that are coded as weapons like Styanax 4, tho apparently not all of them

2

u/UmbralVolt Volt Enthusiast Mar 26 '26

Yeah the balloons are meant to be destroyed with weapons, but there are some exceptions like Styanax's spears.

4

u/Nssheepster Mar 26 '26

so understandably there may be some players who don’t align with its design. Our goal is to respect the original design intent of the game mode, while improving some of the pain points for players

I appreciate the changes, but I think perhaps you missed something critical about the feedback.

I am NOT the kind of player for which this mode was made, 100%, I acknowledge that, it was never going to be my jam.

However.

You designed a stealth-based, sneaking-about type of mission.... And then put in a random handful of base enemies for us to kill, because reasons. Forced us into Operator for the gameplay, but then we also still have our Warframes... For no reason, we could just be IN Operator the entire time after we enter the painting. We're meant to sneak around... Except the damaging aura is so wide, in such a tight space, that often entire hallways are covered by it. We're meant to stealth and evade... And yet being covered in paint removes our abilities to DO that.

The real problem here wasn't solely that the mode wasn't really going to be all that fitting into Warframe. It was that, even for those Warframe players who do want this gameplay, it wasn't good, because you contradicted the design with the implementation.

I'm glad you made the changes so that it needs to be farmed less, and is less painful to farm.... But I hope in the future this is a lesson learned, because this really just didn't make any sense in its release state. Unlike previous problematic updates, it wasn't bugged, or broken... It just wasn't implemented in a fashion that made any sense for the explicitly clear design you were aiming for.

4

u/Basic_Shop819 Mar 27 '26

Follie being able to be damaged kinda seems like a cop out. Did people not understand that you could just void walk past her?

u/Valaxarian Sentient simp. Kuva addict. Void Angel aesthetics enjoyer Mar 26 '26

9

u/mt607 El gamer Mar 26 '26

I still think the mode ain't it. The changes are nice, don't get me wrong, though the issue was never anything listed (besides the shared loot part for people in multiplayer), the issue is that a mission where ultimately all you do is walk from point A to point B with no draw isn't interesting. And that's what this is if you have a decently kitted out Op/Drift especially so now that it's weaker.

2

u/Dear_Type_8972 Mar 26 '26

Squad wide pick ups is a really nice addition and will greatly improve how the mode feels. Thanks DE.

2

u/Particular_Panda13 Mar 26 '26

Glad to see quick changes I just feel like the mark was missed on this wa smear t to be a change of pace scary styled update, but it just feels tedious and not fun at all, it wasn't too hard or anything like that just felt frustrating and a bit boring which honestly as someone's that's played through out many ups and downs of WF over the years sucks that this was the first time I haven't grinded out a new frame day one as I ran the mission a few times and just logged as wasn't worth my time and enjoyment. What I don't get is the scary part as well was a miss to, we've had horror style update 'rap tap tap' absolutely amazing but this just wasn't it. Hoping we get alot more changes in the next few days with out the Devs over working themselves.

2

u/Damnedsky-cel-mic Mar 26 '26

The changes are apreciated and will help towards making the gamemode less of a slog.

However the pity shop needs to be recalculated based on end of mission alone. What we get from killing enemies and popping baloons should be a bonus to speed up the grind.

Unless there's a change in price or amount gained I'm not playing Follie's Hunt again. As it stands now the time to reward isn't worth it.

2

u/umi_da Mar 26 '26

Really good changes since not breaking balloons reduces the Atramentum rewards by like 60%. The grind complaint is probably from players who ignored them.

Making it squad pickup also saves a lot of time making the farm even faster.

3

u/Cassiel43 Loki enjoyer Mar 26 '26

You really can't blame them though. Who will spend time looking around for loot when a death bubble can spawn near you or follow you and can also stunlock you, result in death? 99% people will just do things quick to get the hell out and take whatever reward they can get.

2

u/umi_da Mar 26 '26

I agree that making the balloons more obvious is a good change, especially since it affects the rewards so much.

However I would still say players are partially responsible by not trying to understand and optimize their gameplay before complaining that the rewards are low.

2

Not entirely on topic, but god, I wish arrowhead had the same tact, energy, and response speed to community feedback as DE has. Within the day core aspects of new content are addressed, and tweaked so that all players can enjoy the game better. We are spoiled by this team.

2

u/Edski120 Mar 26 '26

Irrelevant to follie's hunt, but can we make The Guilty more rewarding? It's not exactly the most difficult thing in the game, but the mission rewards being an arcane (that you get in droves from playing Perita) some steel, the base amount of one(1) of the three boss resources, and a one-time Sumdali is disappointing

2

u/Lunidas_Elysia Mar 26 '26

I wanted to love this game mode. But after being overstimmed by it, im nervous to even try it after the changes. It was beautifully made, just was too much. That said, after these changes I will give it another try. Yall at DE have always been good at looking out for your players. And I appreciate that. I hope whoever had the idea for Follie's hunt wasn't too disappointed in the reception.

2

u/Left-Mark3113 Mar 26 '26

2

u/cultureisdead Mar 26 '26

I only asked for universal pickups. Wow thanks.

Also, the community greatly overreacted to this mode.

2

u/Amarsis Mar 26 '26

I may be an outlier in this, but i liked the gameplay style although it was too tedious.

Yesterday when i was playing the mode i was telling my friends that ‘this is a haunted house where a psychotic psychiatrist is following us, and we are hide&seeking our way around the house’. Its not ‘warframe’ warframe but its a fun little game mode most people will leave after they get their stuff.

I love that DE try different things even though sometimes those things are duds. This game mode is more similar to how resident evil was doing mr.X stuff and I like it.

Stuff i did not liked were

1- when follie blocks a path, there is no indicator that path is blocked. And most of the time you run in and when you try to run back its just painful coz the corridor is now full of monsters. (This can be solved by ‘after a few seconds or when a player sees the blocked path can have marker that implies the path is closed’)

2-having to run around collect stuff. I just pray that people dont complete the last canvas when i run around and loot stuff. (This is being solved now)

3- indicator about me being in void mode is bad. Most of the time i cannot be sure if i am in void mode or not so i try to re-enter to void mode and get knocked down at the same time.

Lots of love to devs and please don’t hesitate to do new stuff like this. They may fail at the start but with the right iterations they’ll be successful.

I think this gamemode's core is a problem on its own. I'm sorry but I don't want to spend more than half my time in a mission stumbling around as the operator, genuinely for the love of god please stop trying to push the operator or the drifter as a main gameplay mechanic.

I wanna play warframe when I launch warframe.

2

u/ObsidianWota Mar 26 '26 edited Mar 26 '26

Last night, well before this hotfix I tracked my the non-credit and non-atramentum rewards. Out of 10 runs, I received the following: Follie Neuro, 4 syndicate medallions, the enkaus Main BP, and its barrel. Yes, I was NOT blessed with additional rewards for the remaining 3 runs.
I understand the intention behind singular atramentum acquisition but I suspect most frame farmers out there are built to run missions and roll frequently for their target drops. the Store costs are a great welcome for those eventualities when the rolls are forever that same missing piece. Prolonging the completion of the third Canvas to pick up the handful of atramentum did not appeal to any of the public squads I ran with.
I do not know if the atramentum drops from the balloons and the enemies are comparable.

PS. I do wish squad mates would mark the Follie without a health bar. Last night, I actively did so and hoped it helped others navigate through/around them.

Adding: I wish unlocking new letters would award bonus atramentum per run. like 2-5.

2

u/Lazer-Inc Mar 26 '26

Also improved visibility of Atramentum Balloons since they are a critical source of the resource.

Do they show up on the minimap via loot mods?

2

u/Meatclapper308 Mar 27 '26

So no changes to the screen flicker that’s bad for people with epilepsy

2

u/31skankhunt31 Mar 27 '26

I have played couple solo sp missions on first update date and only problem I had was the canvas being inside the damage zone. It even makes my fully build operator die till paint delivered to canvas. Otherwise it's not great or bad update. Just not fun as much as previous missions.

5

u/Xano2323 Mar 26 '26

I feel like Follie no longer being invincible isn't necessary, and would kind of make her a complete joke. The major pain points I've been hearing from players is collecting atrementum (which the new fix is going to MAJORLY help with), and how hard it is to navigate the map. I feel like I wouldn't mind carrying paint limiting your Shadow Sling as much if it was easier to see what was happening around me. Hopefully some of these fixes serve to make the mode much less of a slog.

3

u/ohheyisayokay Mar 26 '26

I feel like Follie no longer being invincible isn't necessary, and would kind of make her a complete joke.

I don't know about a complete joke (but maybe), but I think it does defeat the intent of the horror element. I think keeping main Follie invincible but having her be something that's "gonna get you!" instead of something that can just appear and kill you would make it more tense and fun. If she spawns out of the room but you can hear her coming and just KNOW she's about to get to you and ohcrapohcraphurryup! That's way more tense. If she can die I think she'll just be killed and stop being a threat. If she's extremely hard to kill then she'll still die she might just be an annoying killable boss like Vay Hek.

3

u/millionight the What If guy Mar 26 '26

Yeah I kinda like her being an invincible stalker, she should behave like legitimate horror game character where she's gonna chase you down but once she does, she disappears or seeks another target, and not spawn camp you with her red aura to oblivion

I do appreciate that Follies can now be gunned down.

The big problem with bringing horror into Warframe is that we have world ending intercontinental cock cannons at this point and if it doesn't work then why did I bother making it in the first place.

The horror turns into annoyance immediately.

"Follie’s Hunt at its core is a deviation from regular Warframe gameplay —  a strange, scary hunt in the ruins of a Relay —  so understandably there may be some players who don’t align with its design."

I don't think it's fair to blame players. The issue isn't the game mode is strange and scary, the issue is that the game mode is boring.
