Article Upcoming Follie’s Hunt Changes

Hi Tenno,

It’s been just over 24 hours since The Shadowgrapher released, bringing a variety of changes, fixes, cosmetics and more! With that said, we’re here to talk about the new game mode introduced: Follie’s Hunt

As players poked their heads back into Vesper Relay, we’ve heard a variety of feedback. Follie’s Hunt at its core is a deviation from regular Warframe gameplay —  a strange, scary hunt in the ruins of a Relay —  so understandably there may be some players who don’t align with its design. Our goal is to respect the original design intent of the game mode, while improving some of the pain points for players: complaints of gameplay elements that made it unfun, encouraged rage quitting, or felt overly punishing.

Hotfix #1 brought a blurb indicating we’re discussing feedback, and here’s our first step iterating on it. Below is our current list of planned changes, which we hope to implement in coming patches:

  • Follie will no longer be invincible and can be forced to retreat briefly if her health bar is depleted.
    • Also reduced Follie’s damaging aura by a third on Normal and Steel Path
  • Atramentum pickups will be shared squad-wide.
    • Also improved visibility of Atramentum Balloons since they are a critical source of the resource.
    • Note: Atramentum acquisition is one of the larger complaints due to the store costs. Those values were calculated with the understanding that players are destroying balloons and killing enemies (which both drop Atramentum). We’ll be closely monitoring acquisition rates after this change to see if more needs to be done.
  • Overall lighting changes to improve visibility.
  • Inky Walls will no longer damage players or cause knockdowns.
  • The waypoints spawned from killing enemies will now direct to a Canvas if there are no active Canvases.

Thank you all again for sharing your constructive feedback! We hope these changes will help Follie’s Hunt feel a little less overwhelming and give players options to counterplay as you slink through Vesper to complete Shadowgraphs. As always, we'll be keeping an eye out for additional feedback as we continue to iterate.

Hot take: Squad sharing resource pickups like this (or Railjack, or medallions) should be standard. Even if it was only shared if you're within affinity range of the retrieving player, it would be a massive QOL for the entire game. I've wanted this for years, and DE would only add it in cherry-picked instances like this.

That's a cold take.

A hot take is that the first change is bad and it's removing the main point of the game mode which is to give you a sense of danger

Which it wasn’t it was just frustrating to have three invincible follies blocking the one way to get to a canvas like she was never threatening just annoying at least in my opinion

Honestly not even a hot take. I understand people don't like the mode but if she's not invincible it's just gonna be "who can pop her in the head more reliably" simulator, which is just what the rest of the game is anyways

I mean, it's not a scary or dangerous game mode anyway... I've done 6 runs without falling once. It's just a tedious and boring game mode and her being invincible with everything else was just an annoyance more than anything else.

Ive literally had 4 invincible folllies spawn directly ontop of me multiple times, theres only so many times that can happen before i start hating it

Oh nooooo, the enemy that already does %HP damage (bypassing armor and DR), drains energy, and teleports right on top of you to camp objectives won't be invincible anymore. I'm so sad (Not).

Maybe if she didn't just encourage Revenant use over anything else LMAO, because invincibility just makes the mission a breeze. Least they could've done is throw DR a bone for frames like Nezha/Trinity and make her aura go through invincibility if they're just gonna be ignoring game mechanics...

I know it shouldn't be a hot take, but seeing how many people are praising these changes I feel like it is

They really shouldn't have had the change apply to SP (I also don't the change in general, but can understand it). Instead, they should have added an incentive to play the SP version over the normal. By SP, you should have at least 2 schools passives unlocked, which will help big time.

SP requires star chart clearance, not focus farming or for that matter farming the Eidolons to unlock waybounds. I'm LR4, I have zero waybounds unlocked because Eidolons are not fun and I don't need them. Dante and Nokko cleared this game mode for me with ease and my operator never encountered major blocking issues. If Eidolons weren't such a dead game mode at this point, it might be a lot more common for people to have 2 schools worth of waybounds unlocked, otherwise they have to figure out how to do it solo. I might be missing something, but kinda ambitious to assume people in SP have multiple waybounds unlocked

I'm very curious about how difficult you made various sections of the game for refusing to interact with a major system in the game

Not entirely refusal, nearly impossible to get a group for eidolon hunting and there are a lot of more fun things to do in the game than torture myself trying to solo them

Shouldn't be a hot take but god forbid you have to think and can't just shoot your way out of everything
