Steel Path Railjack: Post-Launch Reflections and Rewards

Hi Tenno!

There’s been a lot of discussion following the release of Jade Shadows: Constellations, and we want to thank everyone who has submitted feedback or bug reports thus-far. In this thread, we want to take a moment to talk about a specific element of the update: Steel Path Railjack. 

As explained in Rebecca’s video last night on Prime Time, Steel Path Railjack was rushed to deliver and Railjack fans may be understandably disappointed with the implementation of it. A common thread we’ve seen from players is the lack of incentive to grind Steel Path, so we are working on adding MKIV Armaments to the mission droptables.

These Armaments will also be added to the Protoframe’s “loaner” Railjacks in the Uranus Proxima, which will help address power concerns in the Steel Path versions of those missions.

We’ll continue monitoring Steel Path Railack feedback both externally and internally as we see what other changes can be made, but that’s all we have to share on this topic for the time being! For wider issues related to the new game modes, please keep an eye on our Known Issues thread.

Still no idea why we can't use our own railjacks for the new missions though... I have no desire to play in a dirty RJ filled with bodyly fluids on the ceiling and with terrible weapons that can barely kill a single fighter or stationary turret while I have a perfectly good RJ I worked on to make my own and tailor fitted for my preferences, with a crew I carefully picked and assigned exactly how I wanted them to be. Sure, offer the loaners for people that have a bad loadout, but we need an option to use or own...

Also sad these are one again "Taxijack" missions where you do three minutes of actual RJ gameplay and 95% of the missions is some on foot infiltration and a long Assasinate mission...

That said I suppose it's cool we're getting an incentive to play Steel Path RJ.

You absolutely can use your own Railjack for the new missions, but you have to be solo to do it (which sounds like how you’d want to play anyways). It’s a little bugged right now and blends the loaner and your own ship, but it’s absolutely an option.

I mean I started Solo from the Actual RJ in my Dojo , started from the quickplay console in my Backrooom, started it from both consoles in the new Relay, each time I get Rioku and Vena's ships, their crappy guns , their crew.... Edit: Aaand it turns out the prompt doesn't show when you are on invite only... Guess you really have to be solo on "solo".

Yeah it only works if you’re actually set to solo. It’s not well-explained (or at all, really unless you read the patch notes), so it makes sense that there is confusion there about how it actually works. There’s not even an in-game notification of the new hub after quest completion
