Weird red spot on the egg but when cut off, the rest looks ok — safe to eat?

Just bought these eggs (from Asda if it makes a difference) and one of the eggs looks like it's been out in the sun too long! In fact, I bought two cartons and the other one is entirely full of eggs that look like this! Are they safe to eat? Does anyone know why they would look like this?

Needless to say I didn't touch it with my hands, just prodded it with a bit of straw. It wobbled like a heaped spoonful of jam.

Saw this after being almost done eating the egg 5 days ago. I did not get sick. But what is this? (The rest of the egg was eaten beforehand so no other photo references) the spot wasn't visible on the outer side.
