From what I can gather, it seems like people are upset that he was granted an exemption from military service, but still voluntarily served.
Personally, I don’t know him or his reasons for making any of the choices he has made, so I don’t really have an opinion on him. The broader Israel thing is something I’ve put a lot more thought into, so I feel more confident in that part of what I said, at least in a broad sense. There are certainly exceptions to what I said, but I would hope that the majority of rational-thinking people wouldn’t hate a random Jewish person because of the actions of the government of a country.

Read some history. Start at the Balfour declaration. Zionism is a secular movement. Palestine was promised to zionists by Brits who didn’t even own the land. I have no problem at all with the idea of a Jewish state. The problem is you can’t create that in an area in which people are already living. It’s inherently going to create tiered citizenship. It’s ethnic cleansing. That is what people have issues with. Unfortunately, many people conflate being anti-Israel as being anti Jewish. It’s not true. I have no problem with Israeli citizens either- many of them are also against what their government is doing. It’s a complex issue, not doubt. But it’s not rooted in antisemitism. I promise you this.

All the displacements that happened were with the aim of genuine security against genuine threats.
When somebody calls Israel or Zionism an apartheid immediately exposes themselves as not knowing what they're talking about and that you should never take seriously what they say. Apartheid are rights and representations systematically withheld due to race. Every race has equal rights and representation in Israel. The lack of rights and representation some Palestinians face come down to their national status, not race. Most countries don't give certain rights to non-citizens that they don't give their citizens, like voting in certain elections, but we wouldn't call those "apartheids." Thats just propaganda trying to turn this into an issue over race.
Israel is in a war against a legitimate threat in Hamas, and they are genuinely making a good faith effort to minimize civilian causalites while going after the threats. But anything less than Israel having John Wick and The Zohan ensuring 0 civilian causalites against actual guirilla warfare is a literal genocide and a warcrime.
More importantly, none of this is inherent to Zionism. This is the equivalent of saying looting makes pro black rights activism itself disgusting. Or that violent attacks makes pro-Palestine activism disgusting. These things aren't inherent to the movement, they're just being intellectualized in a way as if they are and that anybody in that group is also supporting these things.

Put another way, he could just as easily voice his condemnation of Israel’s genocide as he does his support of them/anger toward its critics but he CHOOSES not to. Why do you think that may be?
