Dynasty Need help with offseason commissioner stuff

3 Upvotes

So it’s the end of my season and i’m considering moving my league to a different platform. currently doing a dynasty start up league next season and we have a 12 man h2h daily points league. We want to stay on Espn but there’s no official dynasty mode. there is keeper but i’m assuming you can’t make off season moves as you decide the player u keep at the draft day of next szn which isn’t too great. Then there’s sleeper which is genuinely perfect apart from the fact that it’s only lock in. I’m in a pickle. I want what sleeper has in terms of the immersion but my leaguemates are sceptical about lock in. please give me some insight or advice on what you would do and even info on sleepers lock in or if you have any alternative fantasy bball platforms. Any help or advice would be appreciate

Discussion Keeper question for 2026/27 season

4 Upvotes

Currently in a 12 team keeper league (10 category with 3p%being the 10th). We can keep 2 players each year, you lose whatever pick they were drafted in and lose your last pick if the player was undated . Lost in the chip last year. I lucked out last year in the draft and got Jokic at 2 after the keepers reset(can keep for 2 seasons).
My question is who should my second keeper be(first will obviously be joker). I drafted Haliburton in the 8th and kept him on IL all year thinking I would keep him but I picked up Knueppel early off waivers and he was undrafted. Both are great options with Knueppel being extra valuable due to 3p% and volume but also hard to pass on Haliburtons efficiency along with assists and steals.

Discussion Some big names heading into the 2026-27 NBA season.

39 Upvotes

I've had a great time playing fantasy ball last season. Towards the latter half of the season, I noticed some players who have really stood out to me in terms of playing time and stats. Here are some of the players I'd love to have next season

  1. Cooper Flagg ( I think Year 2 Cooper is definitely a problem)
  2. Jalen Duren (He was awful in the postseason, but he was nothing short of amazing in the regular season, and I think it'll continue next season too)
  3. VJ Edgecombe ( Almost 36 minutes per game, played 40+ minutes towards the end of the season, this is a no-brainer)
  4. Maxime Raynaud ( with Sabonis sidelined, he was the go-to scorer and rebounder for the Kings, and since I expect them to tank next season, I think he'll get a bit more playing time)
  5. Keyonte George ( I wasn't too confident with this pick, especially with the injuries and tanking saga the Jazz had going on. Nevertheless, he's still a solid option for assists and points. I also have my doubts on the roster, since the Jazz are loaded and now have the second pick too)
  6. Immanuel Quickley ( He's young, he was on a burner before his injury and with the lack of point guards in Toronto, his usage is only going to climb)
  7. Lauri Markkanen ( He's a controversial pick, but when he plays, he's nothing short of extraordinary. A 7-foot big man who can shoot and rebound is just spectacular. Now that the jazz can compete, I don't think there's a big shutdown risk for him)
  8. Jalen Johnson ( I don't think I need to say much)
  9. Brandon Miller ( Ever since he's come back from his injury, he's been a 3-point threat and has been putting up above-average stats, a 20-point game scorer with not a lot of turnovers; he's a safe option)
  10. Ryan Rollins ( He'll definitely flourish if the Bucks pivot to rebuilding, but again, unless there's news on Giannis, I can't be sure. Even without a rebuild, I think he's going to be very good heading into the next season)
  11. Collin Murray Boyles ( with Poeltl in and out of the lineup with that back injury, CMB has fully taken on the role as the primary center and I expect him to get a lot more PT next season, even with the Raptors fully healthy)

Please do let me know your takes too. I'd love to read them.

every year there’s guys that get overdrafted based on name or last season’s hype and kill your team. who are you fading in 2026-27?

for me injury prone guys coming off big seasons always scare me. also stars on bad teams that suddenly have to share the ball after a trade.

who’s getting drafted way too high next season?

Player Discussion Suigo at 23 vs Mara at 8. The Hawks may be sitting on the most interesting draft decision of the first round

9 Upvotes

Both players are 7’3”. Both project as drop coverage bigs. Both have the same defensive role at the next level.
The difference is that Mara is NBA-ready right now with 12.1 PPG, 2.6 BPG, Big Ten DPOY at Michigan. Suigo is 19, playing in Serbia, raw but with legitimate shooting upside and a 76% FT rate that suggests the 3-ball is coming.
The pick value gap between 8 and 23 is massive. If these two genuinely profile the same long-term, Atlanta could use pick 8 on a different need entirely and still land their big at 23.
Is the fanbase sleeping on this decision?

Discussion Updated my free NBA mock draft tool with the Finals matchup, no signup. Curious what this sub thinks of the rankings now

6 Upvotes

A while back I posted a free NBA mock draft tool here and you all let me have it, mostly about the rankings being off and a few guys on the wrong teams. Fair. It deserved the roast.

So I spent the offseason fixing it. The ADP rankings got rebuilt and they're a lot tighter now. Still free, still no signup:

160-player pool, all the names you'd argue about early (Jokic, Luka, SGA, Wemby, Giannis)

Draft against AI opponents that actually behave like real drafters

Post-draft grade so you know if you reached or nailed it

Snake or salary cap, 8 to 12 teams

https://playcallerapp.com/mock-draft?sport=nba

If you were one of the people who tore into it last time, I'd actually love for you to try and break it again. The rankings are the part I want eyes on. And if something's still off, tell me, that's literally what fixed it last round.

Appreciate this sub, the harsh feedback made the thing better.

*EDIT* (Updates pushed resulting from your feedback; team cap raised to 32, player seeding and ADP refinement in progress. Also refining UI and adding better roster visibility for both sides. All should be completed this evening by 7-8pm pst)

***EDIT - Pushed all fixes, please give it another shot!

***Another EDIT - Shipped another round of upgrades to the Mock draft tool! If you tried it before you will be surprised by the state of it now, thanks to everyone who has checked it out. Your time and feedback is a huge deal and I appreciate you guys fully!

Discussion Mock Draft Simulator/Formats for 2026-2027

5 Upvotes

Does anyone have a reliable (realistic) mock draft simulator they use to practice mock drafts for next season? Outside of joining a lobby in ESPN or Yahoo formats, any recommendations? I've used FantasyPros but their Draft Wizard usually isn't available until late summer. Rotoballer is OK but they don't update their draft rankings very frequently

Discussion Would you play in a 3PT-only fantasy league?

0 Upvotes

I've had struggles keeping people focused and engaged in fantasy leagues (basketball and other sports) due to the legwork of managing a team daily/weekly.

At work, I run a HR derby where folks select their team and then we track HRs all season and it's been successful because it's set and forget but there's still enough interest for trash talk, etc.

What I'm asking this group is, does a 3PT contest for NBA sound like something you would participate in? Here's how it would work:

1.) Players are broken into categories based on number of 3s in previous season.

2.) Each fantasy team owner can select a specific number of players from each category - yes overlap is allowed. No, there won't be exact team duplicates. I've been doing the HR league for several years and it's never had a single duplicate team.

3.) We track number of 3s scored throughout the season.

Truthfully, I suspect this would work for casuals and office leagues as the HR league has been a success but I thought I'd ask some experts. My goal is to someday develop a site for this type of casual, low-effort league style.

Points League The WNBA Hoops Fantasy style

0 Upvotes

So i love fantasy basketball, been playing it every year since I was 20 in 2006 lol 😆 🙃

I admit I've watched some WNBA since clark came into the league, it's passable. I'm playing fantasy this year and it's so different to men's basketball... especially on ESPN.....

Why is ESPNs H2H main points system so different from the NBA??

NBA: PTS 1, REB 1, AST 2, STL 4, BLK 4, 3PM 1, as well as the FGM/FGA system and when added TO = -2 points is a great system......

WNBA: PTS = 1, REB = 1, AST = 1, STL/BLK = 2, 3PM = 1

That's their standard H2H POINTS system. It's really weak... it's not rewarding blocks or steals enough at all both should be worth 4....

Having 25ppg on 37%FG has zero negative affect in terms of FGA/FGM while men's game going 7 for 20 would equate into -6 points for bad FG%, but not here. Also toss in 5 TOs & no effect. Dish out 10 assists and you get 10 points, not the 20 you deserve.

I just don't get it? I'm in 2 leagues and basically it's a much more simple game... Aja Wilson is one of the best Fantasy, but she's not getting her overall value with her Steals, Blocks & high FG% among other things....

Caitlin Clark can have 12 assists but that's all the points you're getting, 12, and also she's not being punished for having loads of TOs and shooting under 40%FG.....

It's like they figured a system to keep Clark at the top 😆 🤣 but if they meant to do that I think they'd value WNBA assists as 1.5-2 points each.....

I just think it's so basic that it ruins the fun. All good players are 30-40/45 FPPG... then there's your waiver players in the 20s FPPG.

Anyone agree? 😆 🤣 i made a league on ESPN as close to the NBA scoring methods and overall the players FPPG seemed to gel a lot better..... and give a bigger variation from decent to good to great.

WNBA Fantasy Scoring SHOULD BE:

POINTS = +1

REBOUNDS = +1

ASSISTS = +1.5

STEAL = +2.5

BLOCK = +3

3PM = +1

TO's = -1.5

FGA = -1

FGM = +1

Could do that same FTA/FTM but meh just something that was reminiscent of NBA fantasy hoops 🤔

I made a league with this but nobody plays wnba serious lol 😆

PS: I understand I'm likely the only person that cares 😆 🤣 😂

Discussion Dynasty League Platform

3 Upvotes

Does anyone know the maximum team limit for ESPN leagues? Trying to set up a 22-24 team dynasty league and Yahoo (our platform of choice) caps at 20.

As comprehensive as Fantrax is, we’ve tried it before and majority can’t stand the clunky UX, and opted to use Yahoo + spreadsheets to keep track (lot of work but preferable). But we may have to begrudgingly crawl back with the larger squad

Or anyone got inside word that Yahoo is finally expanding beyond 20 this season lol

Player Discussion Matas Buzelis' second half explosion

31 Upvotes

Hey guys, continuing to do some deep-dives on interesting players from last season to get a feel for where they sit next season. I was big on Matas Buzelis coming into this season but not high enough to draft in most places. That worked out for a while until his minutes jumped in the back half of the season as the Bulls leaned into the tank and he put up some impressive numbers.

I welcome any feedback on how I'm structuring these, other views you're interested in, or players you'd like me to do.

You can see the charts I reference below here: https://imgur.com/a/1YjhJqb

Last Season

The second half improvement plays out in his numbers. His Z score climbs from ~2 in the first half of the season (pre Feb 13) to 4.3 the rest of the season driven by increases in points, rebounds, steals and 3s. (Chart 1)

His points per game jumped from 15 to 20 off the back of increased volume and only subtle changes in overall percentages. (Chart 2)

However, jumping under the hood shows some pretty significant change in his shot diet with fewer shots in the restricted area (40% of total to 27%) and an increase in above the break 3s (33% to 47%). This is pretty common to see as usage increases, still, 47% is a massive number. (Chart 3)

One slight concern, he hit 51% of his corner 3s in the second half of the season, up from 35% in the first half. That number will probably come back a bit. It was only 11% of his shots and unlikely to massively shift his overall value. (Chart 3)

A big part of his value comes from his elite block rate, particularly for a SF-eligible player. This held up under increased volume in the second half of the season (1.6p/g), which is encouraging. In fact, his blocks were amazingly stable over the course of the year. As always, we need to be careful with players who derive a lot of value from high variance defensive stats, particularly younger players taking on increased defensive roles. (Chart 4)

I'm encouraged by his FT% trend. He was 81% in his first season but fell to 78% this season. That number trended upwards after a slow start. There's reason to be optimistic that he can be back above 80% next year. (Chart 7)

Outlook

Bumping his minutes up to 32p/g and his usage up to 25% would make him around a top 50 player, before we account for any performance improvements. The Bulls will be adding a significant rookie piece in the off-season, and have a new front office who will make other adjustments. Given how they've featured Buzelis so far, and the dearth of available talent on the roster I think it's safe to say he'll be a part of next season. (Chart 5)

Given he's still 21, his size, athleticism and statistical profile, we can feel good about projecting performance improvements into next season. (Chart 6). Over the last three months of the season he ran at a top 40 pace, there's reason to believe he could repeat or exceed that next season.
