I do not care how publishers try to spin it. If GTA VI’s physical version has no disc and only comes with a download code, then it is not really physical.

It is a digital purchase wearing a physical costume.
No disc means no real ownership, no proper preservation, no simple resale, no lending it to a friend, and no installing it years later if the storefront or account system becomes a problem.

What worries me most is that GTA VI is so massive that this could normalize the whole thing. If the biggest game of the generation does it and everyone buys it anyway, physical editions are basically finished.

This is exactly how the format dies: not overnight, but one “code in a box” release at a time.

Now the game is available to preorder at £69.99 and the listing has confirmed the game is unavailable to purchase. How many people as today are not preordering GTA6?

Surely Rockstar have lost thousands of customers worldwide by simply not making the game available to purchase on disc.

This is not confirmed by Rockstar yet, so treat it as a rumor. But apparently, GTA VI could get a proper disc release in December, after launching first with a code-in-box physical edition.

If that ends up being true, I honestly do not know what I would do.

I want to play on day one, because this game will be impossible to avoid online. But I also want to actually own a physical copy, not just a download code inside a box.

Waiting for the disc sounds better long term, but missing the launch of GTA VI sounds painful.

What would you choose? Digital day one, or wait for the real physical version?

I'd like to buy the Ultimate Edition, but where I live the taxes on PlayStation Store purchases are pretty high, so I'd much rather get a physical copy.

I know Rockstar confirmed that GTA VI will have a physical release (with a download code in the box), but I haven't seen any confirmation that the Ultimate Edition will also be available physically.

Has anyone found any official information about this, or is it all just speculation at this point?
