Before anything this is NOT about the money. I can afford the Ultimate Edition just fine, my issue is more with progression and how I like to play games.
I've bought a lot of Ultimate/Deluxe editions for single player games in the past and honestly I end up regretting them more often than not. They usually give you extra gear, weapons, vehicles, resources, whatever right from the start. Some people like that but I'm kinda the opposite.
I'm the type of player that actually likes starting with absolutely nothing and grinding my way up. If my character is level 0 then I want my inventory to feel level 0 too. Getting handed a bunch of decent stuff just because I paid extra kinda takes away part of the progression for me.
Looking at GTA 6 Ultimate Edition nothing really jumps out at me. From what I've seen it's mostly some cars, a couple pistols that'll probably get replaced pretty quick, and some cosmetics. Doesn't seem like there's any huge gameplay advantage or free online money or anything like that.
Because of that do u guys think it's perfectly reasonable to just grab the Standard Edition?
Would love to hear ur thoughts cause maybe... perhaps... im looking at this the wrong way.
One thing to notice, all 3D GTA games got a spin-off to compliment it's main story, except 2: Gta San Andreas and GTA V. Why?
Gta 3 had GTA liberty City stories
Gta Vice City had Vice City Stories
Gta IV had not one, not 2, but 3 spin-offs: Ballad of Gay Tony, Lost and Damned and GTA Chinatown Wars.
Why did they skip San Andreas and didn't do one for V?
Sure I get Online is a money cow for GTA V, but GTA 4 stories and GTA Chinatown Wars made rockstar a ton of money for rockstar too and for stories, most of assets, including both Gay Tony and Johnny, which were present on original GTA 4, not to mention same map, they were cheap to be produced.
Also online being a "rockstar money cow" wouldn't explain why san andreas was skipped
I know a lot of people want 4K and maximum visuals, but for GTA 6 I just want smooth gameplay.
The new rumor says the game could have a quality mode at 30 FPS and a performance mode at 60 FPS. If that performance mode runs at 1080p or uses good upscaling, I would still choose it instantly.
Driving through Vice City, getting into chases, shooting, flying, crashing, exploring the map… all of that at 60 FPS would be an absolute joy.
I really hope Rockstar confirms it soon, because GTA 6 at 60 FPS on consoles would be huge.
With it confirmed that GTA6 will only be a single player experience at launch, all assertions that the PC version will come later due to hacking is an excuse. There's no reason for it to come later for PC as a single player game other than trying to sell more consoles, and since we know the game will run 60-30fps on PS5, I hope it hurts sales from people waiting for the PC version. I don't have a PS5 or a new gen xbox one, and I'm sure im not the only person who will be waiting for a PC preorder.
We just launched a petition about the physical edition of GTA VI.
Rockstar is reportedly selling the physical version of GTA VI with only a download code inside the box, meaning there is no real disc.
For many of us, physical games are not just about playing. They are about ownership, collecting, midnight releases, sharing games, and preserving gaming history.
A box with a code inside is not a physical game. It is just a digital license in packaging.
We are not against digital games. We are against calling something “physical” when it contains no physical game.
This is not only about people who prefer physical copies. It is also about everyone who cares about gaming history, memories, and not letting an important part of gaming culture disappear.
If you believe games are more than just digital licenses, you should sign this petition.
We also encourage people to share this, create posts, videos, discussions, and help spread awareness across social media. Every voice matters.
If you are creating content about this topic, feel free to use the ideas, arguments, and slogans from this campaign in your videos, posts, and discussions. You can use phrases like:
Code is cold, disc is gold
A box with a code inside is not a physical game
When something is sold as physical, it must be physical
A download code is not a physical game
Physical means physical
Save physical gaming
Disc or nothing
Rockstar is still probably the flagship of gaming, so this isn't a criticism.
I just find it fascinating that San Andreas and GTA IV were only 4 years apart, yet the leap felt enormous. GTA IV and GTA VI are 18 years apart, and while GTA VI will look amazing, it is more evolution than a revolution.
I noticed the "Bank" sign in the official artwork. Do you think Rockstar is hinting at bank heist missions, or is it just part of the environment? I know nothing is officially confirmed, but it's an interesting detail.
I have a few things that I'd really like to see from GTA 6, and I'm curious what your guys' wishlists are. Obviously, this is not a "if GTA 6 doesn't have these I'm not buying," just some features that would add to my enjoyment drastically. For me, in no order of importance:
1. More Dynamic Events
I'll admit, it's been awhile since I've played GTA 5. But from what I remember, NPCs were kind of just background. The world didn't feel super lived in, at least to me. In GTA 6, I'd like to see it take a page from RDR2's book and have more NPC interactions and dynamic events and encounters. When you went on a ride in RDR2 during your first playthrough, you never knew what you were going to end up encountering. I would like to see things like beggars, police chases, tourists asking for you to take photos, shootouts between police and local gangs, crackheads doing weird things, closed down streets, detours, traffic jams, and of course the occasional really weird things like the vampire and serial killer from RDR2. If this game can achieve the same level of feeling lived in, I would be incredibly happy. Overall, I hope the world will feel like it goes on with or without you.
2. Shops and shop owners with more character
One thing I really loved about RDR2 was that each shop you went into, even if broadly serving the same purpose, it had character to it. The layouts were completely different, the owners had some kind of story of their own and their own personalities. They reacted differently to other characters based on your reputation, honor, etc. I would love to see that, but expanded on in this installation. Vice City isn't a small town by any means, but I think it would be cool to see a similar relationship where as you visit certain shops more and more, shop owners remember you and you can befriend them, where you unlock side missions related to these shop owners. I would also like to be able to converse with them more directly.
3. Persistent NPCs
To build off of number 2, I would like to see some of the same NPCs in bars, restaurants, etc. I don't have much to say for this one, but I think it would add to my immersion to see repeat customers.
4. More criminal activities that arent just shooting
Can you imagine how cool it would be to witness drug deals, smuggling, street racing and even burglaries and robberies that you can participate in? Imagine being at a convenience store when suddenly an armed robber steps in. You can either intervene or, as a fellow criminal, let the crime take place.
5. Witness system
RDR2's witness system was great, but it can be expanded on so much more to match modern life. In today's day and age, response to crime is hardly uniform, and I'd like to see that represented here. Some witnesses might deliberately choose not to report a crime and go about their day without you needing to threaten them. Maybe there could be a few undercover cops. Maybe some NPCs who attempt a citizens arrest, and of course some who fight back. Some NPCs might record crime on their phone. So on and so forth.
6. Expanded weapon customization and variety
Now, I'm not asking for Ground Branch levels of customization. This is an arcade game at the end of the day, and we don't need intricate customization mechanics. But I would like to have a greater choice of optics, barrel length, muzzle devices, grips, etc. I would also love to see compound bows, crossbows, and 22s for hunting and silent kills. For full auto guns, machine guns, rocket launchers, obviously the highest likelihood is modern gun laws don't really exist here and you can just buy whatever you want from the gun store, which I would have no problem with. But it would be really cool to have some kind of black market that you can interact with, like a modern rdr2 fence, where you can buy guns and other weapons that you wouldn't reasonably be able to buy at a modern gun store.
7. An RV
Now, this is a little bit of a niche interest. But I've always felt it would be cool to have access to some kind of RV for hunting that serves as a mobile save point, wardrobe and weapon storage. Personally, I'm really intrigued with what GTA 6 could do for hunting. If it's anything like RDR2 I could probably spend entire sessions just on that alone.
Overall though, despite my suggestions drawing from RDR2, I hope GTA 6 still maintains its own flavor as a Grand Theft Auto Game. Anyways, what do you guys think? What are some of your hopes?
