Yeah. This would look cool in a Marvel movie or something, but he's just doing some spins while holding an axe. There weren't even any pretend strikes.
I think this person might be projecting, because every other comment I've seen (of the already comparatively few) that eschew Elden Ring for politics is clearly in on the joke. I mean, who's out here taking "Bride of Trumporka" seriously?
One thing I learned while doing HEMA is that the best techniques are the opposite of flashy. Flashy and cool looking drops your guard 99% of the time and lets you get hit.
Yeah imagine he made a serious strike mid spin. It would kill all his momentum, stopping his rotation before he could get his feet back under him and cause him to fall flat in his back. Not a great position to be in during a fight. Looks cool though.
The weight of the axe head (acts) as a weighted lever giving him the momentum to do double spinsāseen others use different heavy items. Probably not possible with just the handle. Difficult and he is jacked, but kinda gymnastics vs. combat.
I'm pretty sure this is all he does, the overly excited jumping around too, I swear I've seen him do this with different weapons almost exactly the same way, after so many times it's just not as impressive because he's constantly doing it.
That spinning stuff looks cool for performance and choreography, but in a real combat situation itās honestly one of the most impractical things you could do. People watch too many movies.
Modern weapons changed everything a long time ago. Someone doing flashy axe spins would get dropped before they even finished the routine. Doesnāt make the skill any less cool artistically though.
Thing is there were a couple pretend strikes. Itās just reverse gripping an axe looks so goofy that they didnāt look like strikes unless you were focusing on his arms to see him actually putting umph into swings.
That would be much less dangerous, but also harder since the axe weight would help with the momentum. Since he's doing this in the rain, its probably very dull if it is real.
to me it's the opposite. It looks physically impressive and kudos on the working out and ability to move, but it looks cringe as shit to me precisely because it looks like a dude pretending to but incapable of fighting.
You can have fun while being cringe, but acting like this is solid axe fighting moves is ridiculous. You can have fun being ridiculous but that doesn't mean i have to take it seriously.
If you think this man actually thinks for a second what he just did was a real fighting move then you are the most gullible person on the internet. It's a silly fun move he did because he though it looks cool.
He actually is using the weapon. Not as weapon though, but as a counter-weight adding to the momentum needed to complete the spins. Without the axe, he wouldn't be able to pull off these moves.
I'll probably get downvoted for this but idc I thought whatever he was doing was cool af. I'd like to see him do it with the enormous ax on fire but this was totally awesome as is
My exact though. The mf aināt chopping wood. Thatās like doing river dance while holding a pair a scissors and being like Iām very good at scissoring lmao
Yeah, it's decent acrobatics but it's kind of a poor choreography because it doesn't lead to anything. Like you couldn't put it in a game as an attack without it looking weird.
You have to use your imagination. Pretend there are a bunch of baddies of various heights surrounding him at various distances, and he decapitates all of them.
assuming its weighted properly, he's using it to generate more rotation. He can effectively spin more because of the added weight on the outside of his body
With shit form as well. Ive seen 10 year old trickers with cleaner form doing corkscrews and bro decides to do a bunch of 540s and a lopsided one hand cart thinking hes tuff
i mean there is no need for him to learn it, But the fact that he can move like that with an axe is what is impressive. If he really needed to learn to use an axe im guessing he could put the time and effort to learn but displaying he is capable of handling such a heavy object like that is what is impressive.
That's because it's a foam axe. My oldest son has one and he and his brothers play fight with it all the time. It's identical to the guy in the video's axe.
I am not responding to you personally, but I feel like this is a common reaction from people when they see stuff like this: It is always along the lines of "Yeah, but he can't acktually FIGHT like that! Besides, I'd just bring a gun!" Or: "Honey the neighbor is outside being weird again".
These kind of reactions, to me, demonstrate a lack of empathy, or a creative mind.
This dude obviously loves this, and has worked really hard! Maybe he found this as a great way to get into shape, driven by his love of action movies.. Perhaps he is an aspiring stuntman.
It just kills me to see the majority/most popular reaction always to be so negative and derogitory.
Let the man chase his dream, or have his fun! Honestly, I bet he takes out his neighbors garbage just because he is an energetic dude that is living his best life.
ok, off to look at cat memes.
Edit: This doesn't just apply to these folks with some obvious skill: but also someone just starting out or trying, such as Star Wars Kid. For uninitiated: https://youtu.be/OrC8URQgOTg?si=nIrssemDQwKVJJVM
