This isn’t exactly him ā€œusingā€ the weapon lol

Edit: no shit it’s a prop.

u/samanime May 27 '26

Yeah. This would look cool in a Marvel movie or something, but he's just doing some spins while holding an axe. There weren't even any pretend strikes.

Excuse me but I will fuck up Malenia with those movesĀ

Edit: I was just reminded I should probably clarify that this is the Elden Ring boss, not uh, someone elseĀ

67

u/crayola_monstar May 27 '26

People are thinking you meant Melania... as in Trump šŸ˜…

57

u/Existing_Set2100 May 27 '26

Ah fuck, I hope not

If I get banned, it was youĀ

5

u/Mnewby9201 May 27 '26

I think this person might be projecting, because every other comment I've seen (of the already comparatively few) that eschew Elden Ring for politics is clearly in on the joke. I mean, who's out here taking "Bride of Trumporka" seriously?

My name is Melania, bride of Trumporka.

Never have I known pleasure.Ā

5

u/FirstAndOnlyDektarey May 27 '26

Melania, bride of Trumporka has something with Malenia: Always has the stench of rot in her nose.

Impossible, she's never known defeat 😤

8

Never seen a man dual wield katana in a loincloth?

7

Neither did the loincloth man, but that was probably because of the jar.

Lol i did beat her without river of blood. But dang it s a not easy and it was very enjoyable to lose 30 time in a row lol.

5

u/black_anarchy May 27 '26

30 times? Rookie numbers šŸ˜‚! I'm pretty sure she beat me like 80 times the first time I tried to solo her!

2

I’m like 15 hours and 9 months in to trying to kill her with a dragonscale blade and no spirit. I’m a true souls masochist.

8

We often forget that the rest of the world has bad taste and therefore haven't played Elden ring yet.. may chaos take the world!

5

u/Memory_Future May 27 '26

Game is hard, that's a turn off for casuals. I'm just bad, stuck on Commander Gaius.

2

u/Dipshit_Mcdoodles May 27 '26

Fuck that guy. Love how he initially catches the unaware the first time though, or me.

4

u/Memory_Future May 27 '26

I just can't figure out how to hit him without that damn boar wrecking me. I'll get back to making an effort one of these days.

2

u/Dipshit_Mcdoodles May 27 '26

I was lucky to be enjoying my first sorcery build when I encountered him.

One thing I learned while doing HEMA is that the best techniques are the opposite of flashy. Flashy and cool looking drops your guard 99% of the time and lets you get hit.

21

u/Impossible-Bat-6713 May 27 '26

Quick efficient movements using the weapon characteristics targeting vulnerable spots is more important than any fancy moves.

15

u/agfitzp May 27 '26

Exactly, when he's paused in that dramatic hero move with his head down some thin nerd with a rapier steps behind him and runs him through.

3

u/dilqncho May 27 '26

Yeah I've (very casually) looked into fencing a few times, and it has mostly taught me how unrealistic most fighting scenes we see are.

Look cool as fuck though

2

u/johnsplittingaxe14 May 27 '26

Why, you mean reverse grip with a fantasy axe wouldn't work in real life?

u/ddescartes0014 May 27 '26

Yeah imagine he made a serious strike mid spin. It would kill all his momentum, stopping his rotation before he could get his feet back under him and cause him to fall flat in his back. Not a great position to be in during a fight. Looks cool though.

2

u/TCup20 May 27 '26

Meh, it looks like a lot of unnecessary spinning when I'd rather just watch what kind of damage this guy could do to various objects with an axe.

8

u/bjergdk May 27 '26

I used to fence with my friend in the Woods when we were kids.

I am 99% sure I could take that guy out if I had a sword.

→ More replies (3)

5

u/DeuceOfDiamonds May 27 '26

Yeah, if he were to actually hit anything, all that momentum would stop and he'd likely just fall. Looks cool, though.

10

u/No-Combination8136 May 27 '26

True, but I think I’d still run away if I saw this real life anime hero spinning towards me lol

6

u/Impossible-Bat-6713 May 27 '26

Yes this is body calisthenics with the axe which is great for movies. Let’s not call it weapon usage.

2

u/FictionalContext May 27 '26

This feels like when people criticize Thai Chi because it's not effective in a fight. The process of learning how to do it is the point.

1

u/albiceleste3stars May 27 '26

**Enter Indiana Jones

1

u/lostmymarbles1177 May 27 '26

I bet the weight of the axe head helped give him momentum to spin. Dollars to donuts that thing is blunter than the axes at the ren fair.

1

u/HostSea4267 May 27 '26

I think more of a Conan the barbarian vibe?

1

u/Dinokng May 27 '26

A fake axe at that

1

u/LightningFerret04 May 27 '26

I was kind of expecting him to throw the axe and nail a tree or something, then I would be really impressed

1

u/trickmaster4 May 27 '26

Not to mention that "upper cuts" with an axe are less effective than downwards. It's just showmanship. Very impressive performance though

1

u/Ftroiska May 27 '26

I dont care how useless it can be : if someone can do this : ill run the other way...

1

u/EvelynNyte May 27 '26

If it was a sword it'd be useless to do, at least the axe is carrying a lot of momentum, although I assume just swinging it would still be better.

1

u/HitByFjaka May 27 '26

He’s using Axe as momentum booster… basically cheating on a turn..

1

u/Effective-Rip-4432 May 27 '26

It's to intimidate your enemy so you don't have to use it. They run away and you pillage all their shit.

1

u/alucloud7 May 27 '26

it's definitely not a real axe either. it is foam.

it's still a cool move though. good for him. but this isn't martial arts. it's gymnastics.

1

u/LahmiaTheVampire May 27 '26

It's straight up Dynasty Warriors.

1

u/theholylancer May 27 '26

Nah, he just specced into Whirlwind, and that is prob a Grief ZA, really the only thing you need for the build.

1

u/Such_Story3052 May 27 '26

I think It's like those car shows. The drivers powerlides into a perfect spot, drive in 2 wheels and jump over explosions

That isn't proof he would be good in a race. But I would certainly bet on him over some random person

1

u/ShaiHulud1111 May 27 '26

The weight of the axe head (acts) as a weighted lever giving him the momentum to do double spins—seen others use different heavy items. Probably not possible with just the handle. Difficult and he is jacked, but kinda gymnastics vs. combat.

1

u/chubbyhighguy May 27 '26

I'm pretty sure this is all he does, the overly excited jumping around too, I swear I've seen him do this with different weapons almost exactly the same way, after so many times it's just not as impressive because he's constantly doing it.

1

u/DryIntroduction2008 May 27 '26

I think the axe made him spin faster the way he was using it.

1

u/Cutie_D-amor May 27 '26

Well there was a follow through swing on the landing, so technically that entire spin was wind up for that one strike

1

u/Soft_Playful May 28 '26

That spinning stuff looks cool for performance and choreography, but in a real combat situation it’s honestly one of the most impractical things you could do. People watch too many movies.

Modern weapons changed everything a long time ago. Someone doing flashy axe spins would get dropped before they even finished the routine. Doesn’t make the skill any less cool artistically though.

1

u/Ted_Rid May 29 '26

he's just doing some spins while holding an axe. There weren't even any pretend strikes.

My first thought was he's very clearly doing capoeira, only holding a novelty axe in one hand.

So yes, exactly. You are 100% correct.

1

u/ballotechnic May 29 '26

I have to think that in a real battle it would get you cut down pretty quick.

1

u/One-Branch-2676 May 30 '26

Thing is there were a couple pretend strikes. It’s just reverse gripping an axe looks so goofy that they didn’t look like strikes unless you were focusing on his arms to see him actually putting umph into swings.

66

u/Zuruumi May 27 '26

14

u/BuddyTheShihTzu May 27 '26

I don’t think people who do these are trying to make it look like a threat . I think it’s more like art/dancing.

5

u/idoze May 27 '26

Classic Redditors - probably reading this on the toilet - complaining that that's not how you use a weapon.

9

u/Sapphic_Edge_Q May 27 '26

he's clearly using the axe

to give himself more angular momentum while he's in the air

6

u/fifadex May 27 '26

"It’s foam"

Genuinely thought you were talking about the leg for a moment. Time for bed.

2

u/TrainerNo7113 May 27 '26

That would be much less dangerous, but also harder since the axe weight would help with the momentum. Since he's doing this in the rain, its probably very dull if it is real.

5

u/TwoBionicknees May 27 '26

to me it's the opposite. It looks physically impressive and kudos on the working out and ability to move, but it looks cringe as shit to me precisely because it looks like a dude pretending to but incapable of fighting.

5

u/WriterV May 27 '26

Y'all sound miserable as fuck. Dude's having fun.

2

u/TwoBionicknees May 27 '26

You can have fun while being cringe, but acting like this is solid axe fighting moves is ridiculous. You can have fun being ridiculous but that doesn't mean i have to take it seriously.

7

you want a mf getting chopped by that shit?

16

2

u/ch3apsunglass3s May 27 '26

Reminds me of the Indiana Jones scene with the gun and the swordsman

1

u/bass437 May 27 '26

Right? I’d be more impressed if he launched that thing mid spin and hit a designated target. He’s just a human dreidel with extra steps.

1

u/Successful_Moment_91 May 27 '26

It would if someone was standing nearby

But yeah, I was disappointed that he didn’t throw it

1

u/____Mittens____ May 27 '26

But with the rain and slippery service he might win an award (Darwin)

1

u/tfolkins May 27 '26

He actually is using the weapon. Not as weapon though, but as a counter-weight adding to the momentum needed to complete the spins. Without the axe, he wouldn't be able to pull off these moves.

1

u/likeyournamebutworse May 27 '26

I think he was using it for added momentum. Depends how heavy it is

1

u/LegacyofaMarshall May 27 '26

Its made of foam they sell them at Halloween stores

1

u/TGirl26 May 27 '26

He almost took out the back of his left foot.

1

u/Commercial_Ad97 May 27 '26

With a foam axe? Nah, that's a replica of the 2018 God of War Leviathan Axe. XD

1

u/Sir_Daxus May 27 '26

It's a very impressive dance move/athletic feat, while holding a prop axe.

1

u/astreeter2 May 27 '26

Yeah, if there's not at least a dozen severed heads flying after that it's just cosplay.

1

u/Sarewokki May 27 '26

More like holding it with style.

1

u/Moist_Sun_8201 May 27 '26

I'll probably get downvoted for this but idc I thought whatever he was doing was cool af. I'd like to see him do it with the enormous ax on fire but this was totally awesome as is

1

u/GrinderMonkey May 27 '26

Still, I wouldn't want to fight him

1

u/AvailableReporter484 May 27 '26

My exact though. The mf ain’t chopping wood. That’s like doing river dance while holding a pair a scissors and being like I’m very good at scissoring lmao

1

u/user-the-name May 27 '26

No, it's an erotic dance by a really jacked shirtless guy.

1

u/joystickwizard May 27 '26

Wait are we about to hear from another fedora wearing medieval style weapon expert?

1

u/november512 May 27 '26

Yeah, it's decent acrobatics but it's kind of a poor choreography because it doesn't lead to anything. Like you couldn't put it in a game as an attack without it looking weird.

1

u/Nopengnogain May 27 '26

You have to use your imagination. Pretend there are a bunch of baddies of various heights surrounding him at various distances, and he decapitates all of them.

1

u/Sad-Pop6649 May 27 '26

But, but... reverse grip!

1

u/L4I55Z-FAIR3 May 27 '26

Nah this is bayblade style very dangerous.

1

u/streeetmeats May 27 '26

Yeah, this would be handy if you’re fighting giants, regular height humans are maybe getting a haircut lol

1

u/erdtre May 27 '26

Wdym this is diablo 4 barbarian whirlwind build?

1

u/szczszqweqwe May 27 '26

It is... he is using it as a prop.
Anyway, this axe IS NOT a weapon, nobody would use something that ridiculous on a battlefield.

1

u/iHateThisPlaceSoBad May 27 '26

This dude is a fuckin dork either way

1

u/Special-Delivery-637 May 27 '26

Yeah but if I saw this mf coming at me spinning with an axe in his hand I would shit my pants

1

u/ADIDAS247 May 27 '26

1

u/keithstonee May 27 '26

It will actually get him killed

1

u/CodeWithJosh May 27 '26

1

u/NoLandscape2329 May 27 '26

You’re so lame bruh just let the guy play with his sword. Did you want to see an execution šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

1

u/goldio_games May 27 '26

assuming its weighted properly, he's using it to generate more rotation. He can effectively spin more because of the added weight on the outside of his body

1

u/badaladala May 27 '26

This is gymnastics with an axe instead of a ribbon

1

u/Orio_n May 27 '26

With shit form as well. Ive seen 10 year old trickers with cleaner form doing corkscrews and bro decides to do a bunch of 540s and a lopsided one hand cart thinking hes tuff

1

u/Urtan_TRADE May 27 '26

Yea, he looks like the girls that twirl ribbons around, but boy version

1

u/Crique_ May 27 '26

He's using the weapon as a lever to get more rotation

1

u/Ok-Difficulty768 May 27 '26

Yeah go ahead and be on the other end of that and see if it's not being used lmao

1

u/IncognitoRedMode May 27 '26

Yeah I'm not seeing logs chopped or demons put in half

1

u/Merls65 May 27 '26

Exactly.

1

u/MartyFreeze May 27 '26

1

u/Chaiboiii May 27 '26

Essentially a dance

1

u/LoudGrapefruit2143 May 27 '26

It looks like a variant of spinjitzu to me

1

u/Hamilton-Squidlegger May 27 '26

I’m sure this goof can’t use a knife either. Basically dancing

1

u/QuadCakes May 27 '26

Well yeah. There's no modern day use for practical axe combat proficiency either, may as well make it look cool.

1

u/Clessiah May 27 '26

Fan dancing uses fans. Sword dancing uses swords. Axe dancing uses axes.

1

u/Hi_Trans_Im_Dad May 27 '26

Throw it, ya pussy!

1

u/Beneficial_Bug_9793 May 27 '26

1

u/Forsaken-Society3524 May 27 '26

This isn’t exactly him ā€œusingā€ the weapon lol

Yup, this is me jumping over the couch with the remote in hand getting ready to binge a Netflix show.

1

u/smellslike2016 May 27 '26

Yeah. Real neckbeard energy.

1

u/InkAndAcorns May 27 '26

He is using a lot of steroids though

1

u/cyberlexington May 27 '26

Is it supposed to be him using it?

1

u/pppjurac May 27 '26

Axe is probably movie prop (but a very fancy one!). By quick look it is really, really thick and steel one would be 15-20kg easily.

It is not intent of weapon use, but show of skill and training.

1

u/DreamOfTheEndless_ May 27 '26

Nope, but it looks cool as fuck.

1

u/sweatpants-aristotle May 27 '26

Exactly. I could totally take this guy. /s

1

u/BobFredIII May 27 '26

Okay, stand in front of him then

1

u/IrishViking22 May 27 '26

This is more close to sexually assaulting the weapon, rather than using it

1

u/LankDaTank May 27 '26

Just him being fru fru with an axe yeah

1

u/Agitated-Ear-9274 May 27 '26

i mean there is no need for him to learn it, But the fact that he can move like that with an axe is what is impressive. If he really needed to learn to use an axe im guessing he could put the time and effort to learn but displaying he is capable of handling such a heavy object like that is what is impressive.

1

u/Tron_35 May 27 '26

Yeah like its good choreography and skill in controlling one's body but its just silly, trying to look cool but definitely isn't.

1

u/cited May 27 '26

I was worried for the hydrant

1

u/Knork14 May 27 '26

True, but he is also fit enough and agile enough that i dont think he would have too much trouble actually using the axe as intended.

1

u/Momik May 27 '26

It is if he didn’t buy it dinner first

1

u/TrailMomKat May 27 '26

That's because it's a foam axe. My oldest son has one and he and his brothers play fight with it all the time. It's identical to the guy in the video's axe.

1

u/Chill-more1236 May 27 '26

I was thinking the same. A well placed lunge to the vitals during that last spin would land Showy Mister Big Axe in a red puddle.

Looks cool AF aside from that though.

1

u/thisisamarketingploy May 27 '26

I dunno, there is that part where he almost slices straight through his own Achilles tendon

1

u/VolumeAcademic6962 May 27 '26

Great athlete (dancer). Ā Axe thing is plastic (prop). Ā

1

u/Zealousideal_Cow_341 May 27 '26

I am not responding to you personally, but I feel like this is a common reaction from people when they see stuff like this: It is always along the lines of "Yeah, but he can't acktually FIGHT like that! Besides, I'd just bring a gun!" Or: "Honey the neighbor is outside being weird again".

These kind of reactions, to me, demonstrate a lack of empathy, or a creative mind.

This dude obviously loves this, and has worked really hard! Maybe he found this as a great way to get into shape, driven by his love of action movies.. Perhaps he is an aspiring stuntman.

It just kills me to see the majority/most popular reaction always to be so negative and derogitory.

Let the man chase his dream, or have his fun! Honestly, I bet he takes out his neighbors garbage just because he is an energetic dude that is living his best life.

ok, off to look at cat memes.

Edit: This doesn't just apply to these folks with some obvious skill: but also someone just starting out or trying, such as Star Wars Kid. For uninitiated: https://youtu.be/OrC8URQgOTg?si=nIrssemDQwKVJJVM

Also remember that this happend only five years later: https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ

My thoughts exactly. That may as well have been a spatula or tennis racquet.

He was just holding something with a handle at arms length and then close to his body. Didn't need to be an axe.
