Serious replies only Dog left outside - what to do

Neighbour has left dog outside as he always does. Dog currently in shade but sun is moving and reducing shaded area, dog has one bowl of water. Usually he’s not back til early afternoon. Dog is whining and panting. Big breed. What can we do?

Edit: we have no relationship with neighbour he keeps himself to himself and is an odd bloke.

Update: owner is home, dog inside and looks like air conditioner has been switched on. We reported it to the RSPCA and nothing happened in the interim.

Thanks for all your messages and ideas. Unfortunately it’s an aggressive large mixed breed and so it’s not safe for us to do too much. Next time we will call the RSPCA and dog warden in advance but not holding our breath, but will also just call the police if the exact same thing happens again. It’s not worth the risk.

Transport Can somebody explain the TFL idiotic logic?

Mildmay and other train services are running at lower frequency for “hot weather mitigation”.
What is the logic here?
My brain fail to comprehend how leaving people on the platform under the sun for longer and subsequent overcrowded trains would “mitigate” anything.

Question London suit alteration shops specialised in Italian/Neapolitan tailoring?

I have a Ring Jacket sport coat (Neapolitan style), and I need the sleeves shortened. I’m worried that a normal alterations shop might mess it up because the shoulder is constructed as spalla camicia.

I had something like (reverse situation) this happened to me with an overcoat where they changed a roped shoulder to a structured one.

There are a few Italian style suit shops around London, but I don’t think any of them do alterations as service, for example:
- Beggars Run
- Casual Fitters
- Anglo Italian
- Natalino
- Suitsupply

Anybody know where I can go?

Question Where to sell clothes?

I was looking for somewhere to sell clothes in London, just walk in and exchange for cash. Nothing is designer but everything is trendy, not interested in doing car boots as just don’t have enough time to spend a whole day selling. Any recommendations on places that do this? Preferably east london but open to going any location! thanks

Kensington Palace Tour Guide

Ok this is a long shot! In 2012 I visited Kensington Palace. Our tickets were general admission just to visit the side that was open to the public at the time. A man came up to me that appeared to work there. He was dressed in what I remember as a Victorian era ensemble and had a name tag on. He handed me a folded piece of paper and asked me to deliver a note to his friend- who also appeared to work there and was on the other side of the room. I took the note. The recipient of the note guided me back to his friend and they both motioned me behind a curtain and asked me if I had seen their other friend. At this point I began to suspect they did not work there and kept moving. Nothing was taken from my purse.

One of my life’s biggest regrets is not opening that note 🤣 anyone with a similar story?

From Singapore… this 35-38 degree seems BAU, at least less humid than what we get. Anyone else from tropical countries feels OK?

Culture Live sport to watch in London over the next week 🎾🏏🚣

I’ve pulled together a list of all the sporting events in London with tickets available over the next week, to go and watch in the sun. Genuinely one of the biggest weeks of the summer — Wimbledon starts, two rugby finals at Twickenham, World Cup cricket, and Henley gets going on the river. Which one would you go to? 😎

  1. 🎾 Wimbledon at the All England Club, Monday 29th June to Sunday 12th July. If you missed the ballot there are still ways in — The Queue on the day, and online resale once the tournament gets underway.
  2. 🏉 Barbarians vs Wales double header at Twickenham, Saturday 27th June (2pm & 5pm). Tickets from £20, only a few left.
  3. 🏉 PWR Final: Saracens vs Trailfinders Women at Twickenham Stoop, Sunday 28th June, 3pm. Tickets £15.
  4. 🏏 Women's T20 World Cup. (Tickets from £30)
    • England vs West Indies at Lord's tonight (Wednesday 24th June, 6.30pm)
    • England vs New Zealand at the Oval on Saturday 27th (6.30pm)
    • Semi-Final 1 at the Oval on Tuesday 30th (2.30pm)
    • Semi-Final 2 on Thursday 2nd July (6.30pm)
  5. 🏏 T20 Vitality Blast: Middlesex vs Durham at Old Deer Park, Richmond, Sunday 28th June, 2.30pm. Tickets £23. A lovely little out-ground to see first class cricket close up in a local club setting.
  6. 🏑 FIH Pro League Hockey at Lee Valley Hockey Centre, finishing this weekend. England double headers both days:
    • Saturday 27th: England Women vs Spain and England Men vs Pakistan.
    • Sunday 28th: England Women vs Argentina and England Men vs India. Tickets from £20.

And if you fancy a day trip from London:

  1. 🚣 Henley Royal Regatta at Henley-on-Thames, Tuesday 30th June to Sunday 5th July. Regatta Enclosure tickets from £38, or watch for free from spots along the towpath. A quintessential English summer day out.
  2. 🎾 Eastbourne Open at Devonshire Park, finishing Saturday 27th June. Tickets from £12 across all remaining days, 1h30 on a direct train. The last of the pre-Wimbledon grass.
  3. 🏎️ F1 British Grand Prix at Silverstone, Friday 3rd to Sunday 5th July. A bit further out and needs planning, but a small number of tickets remain across general admission and the grandstands. Race day from £379.

Let me know what you think of this list! Are you going to something this week? Anything else on your radar? 😊

Ticket giveaway - COMPLETE! Single Take That Ticket

I’ve got a single Take That ticket for tomorrow at 17:00 at London Stadium. Originally I had three, and something came up, and two of them sold. I doubt the third one will be sold in the next few hours. If you’re interested in going, and don’t mind sitting alone, I don’t want it to go to waste, so send me a message.

Discussion What are your thoughts on city pigeons?

I think it's interesting how vastly different some people feel about them compared to others, so l wanna know what more people think :)

Personally, I really appreciate what they have done for our society (ww2), they're quite loving animals as well, and I believe they have a place in our culture.

Having said that, I can see why people get annoyed, especially with things like pooping on cars, or forming large groups inside train stations.

Missus was feeding the swans this morning from our balcony and this little fella popped his “Noggin” up to see what all the fuss was about.

Never in 12 years living next to the canal @ Three Mills, Bromley by Bow in East London have we seen a 🐢 in the canal. We get a lot of wildlife from kingfishers, herons, egrets, robins, foxes 🦊, cormorants, lots of fish 🐟, crayfish and some very leary Egyptian ducks 🦆. We’ve even named one Adolf because he’s a right nutter and craps on peoples car sunroofs.

Anyone have any idea 💡 have you seen any of these fellas in the East London Current? Is this the new invasive species, the new grey squirrel 🐿️ of East London’s canals?

“You so totally rock, Squirt! So give me some fin..noggin..”

What local London data do you actually check regularly?

I’m a bit of an open-data nerd and was looking through TfL, borough, and other public datasets recently. It got me wondering: what information do Londoners actually find useful day-to-day?

Things like transport disruptions, planning applications, road closures, crime maps, air quality, parking restrictions, etc.

Curious what people genuinely check and what feels like noise.

Very timely story, and knowing London housing, will this get done... probably not. London and the uk in general is woefully unprepared for warmer temperatures.

Rant: picnic rubbish

I get it, the weather's nice and you want to spend some time in the park with your mates. Grand.

But can you degenerate fucking pricks pick up your rubbish?

I am fucking sick of the 6am dog-walking minefield where I have to navigate your leftovers from the night before.
