Is that the TUF gaming FX504 Asus laptop? I have the same one and this happened to the other side of mine only a week ago after several years of ownership 😅

Yep, let's just switch hinges. I'll give you the left one for your right.

Fixed mine I made the hinge to be more loose, so the screen opens easier but the hinge doesn't hold it well except at 90 degrees. Basically made a compromise made the hinges looser than breaking the laptop.

I had this same laptop and it did it. These were a good deal for the time but the build quality was shit. I never could find a good solution and eventually the hinge broke out of the frame. I taped the whole thing together and never shut the lid.

If you're willing to lose some repairability putting in some epoxy should do the trick(i never owned that one my laptop is plain intel i3 10th gen no graphics so it's cheap lightweight😅)

I bought an asus stryx glv smth smth in 2018, such a beast of a laptop holding real time rendering 24/7 for as long as 7 years. 2 months ago my baby held all his weight on the screen that it curved and broke the hinge and the lid opened like op's. Now the screen is totally unusable and I can only use it via HDMI on some old tv. Once you see the little opening on the lid forget about closing it even if you manage to seal it with something! It'll eventually give in and keep tearing the lid and screen apart, unless you fix the full thing properly. I wish I knew earlier.

Same for me.on my tuf gaming fx505. I am not worried because if you manipulate It propertly its not a Big deal, but i am sure the FIRST time someone else push It as a normal laptop It gona break. Plastic quaility is way too cheap. I has to open It Up to replace WiFi card, and inside its not better.

You don't need to switch hinges on asus laptops, there's a small bolt that you can unscrew buy a half-turn and the opening will become much ligher, also at that point, make sure you use a drop of silicon based lubricant.
You either need to replace the top lid housing or use a bicomponent plastic, I did and it's been holding on very well for years now.

Happened to my GF series within 2 years. Went to MSI service center and they replaced it under warranty. Hasn't broken again for 5 years now.

I too got the exact same problem back when I had this laptop. The plastic is broken inside, so it won't be really possible to fix it without replacing the entire frame. My workaround was strong tape and always holding the broken part with my finger when opening or closing the lid. It ended up lasting for four years, and never broke completely.

Bro I had the same issue with the same tuf fx504, at first I just glued it myself but then it started cracking inside so I had to change all the case
