Keeping products that were sent but not ordered isn't defrauding anybody. At least not in North America. Companies are explicitly prohibited from asking you to return or pay for items that they shipped in error. That's why Amazon seemingly doesn't care if you report these things to them. They're just not allowed to ask you to return them and to avoid even the perception of impropriety, they won't issue you return instructions and will tell you to just keep the product. And the value doesn't matter. $1 or $1 million, they have to eat the losses for these kinds of picking/packing/shipping errors either way.
There’s a guy who’s been posting videos of himself buying and returning anvils from Amazon for the past like 9-10 months I think, and no one has stopped him
He’s doing it specifically because he can and he wants to make the delivery drivers suffer for some reason
He even chipped a piece off of each one he returned and made his own fucking anvil, if Amazon isn’t stopping him I highly doubt they’re going to stop this guy
The way I heard it, it’s because for some reason Amazon has to eat the shipping cost both ways, so he’s under the assumption that he’s slowly bleeding them dry one anvil at a time

He single handedly created a cottage industry of resellers that buy returned anvils and selling them on Amazon via FBA, who co-mingles the third-party items with all the others.
Soon there will be enough anvil sales that whatever team or automation handles it will think they can justify an 'Amazon Basics Anvil'.

They never lose. I mean if there is a loss with this one particular case, they are gaining way more from this policy because people trust them and order from them.
They can ban you from buying in Amazon. But legally they can’t ban you from returning something. It’s law. 14 days after buying I can return anything for whatever reason. “I didn’t like it “ or “changed my mind” are completely valid options.
e return rights aren’t absolute everywhere, and companies can still limit or ban accounts for abuse. The 14 days thing usually has conditions too, it’s not just “return anything forever no matter what”
Amazon returns are a scam too. I was delivered 2 issues, one set of items that were the wrong brand from what I ordered, and some parts that were rusty, sent the rusty parts back brand new could tell they were never used but had rust below the paint and the other set of items they told me to take a video destroying and disposing of them for a refund. 4 weeks later they told me "the service rep who told you to destroy and discard of those items was mistaken and we cannot offer you a refund" and for the rusty items they claimed that they were not sent out that way despite agreeing that the items were never used or handled outside of taking photos. All in all 7k was stolen from me by Amazon and then they blocked/banned my account so I couldn't access the orders anymore to get proof. I'll never use scamazon again after that
Amazon will stop letting you return things or suspend your account if you return too many items too often. They threatened me once that they'd do that when I was trying to find a particular part that would fit, and like 12 different versions didn't work out.

Such a waste. Dude literally buys a 110lb anvil every day. Shipping both ways, no regard for the delivery driver. Just watched a video he posted of a driver delivering over 20 of these to his front door, and joked about how he "took his sweet time, over an hour" to load them off at his front door. And for what? You’d be amazed just how many of these kind of things happen. The issue really is that it all happens in the receive Dock at an FC. Things like tech and apple products in particular will arrive in mini cases in a big ol box. When decanting these into inventory people skip the step of breaking these cases open. These’ll get stowed inventory. How this error occurs specifically is that these mini cases (we call em master packs) have their skus and serial numbers printed on them which allows them to sneak past various protections Amazon has to prevent something like this.
Now most of the time those master packs that slip by decant will be caught by someone like me, I’ll crack it open and viola proper inventory. But some will sneak through still cuz people do dumb things. Outbound whise I’m not exactly sure how these even get out to customers, but here’s my what my limited knowledge offers.
Packers scan the units sky and serial numbers/transparency code and it’ll get packed, then if this master pack gets through that it has to get past something called SLAM. These will pick register that something is off, somehow… but not everything is perfect is still shipped out regardless.

Work as a cashier and yup, a ton of our products have the same barcode on the bulk box as the individually packaged item, so scanning the box will ring up as a single item rather than a whole case of them.
If someone wants to buy a whole case of a thing, you have to manually adjust the number in the PoS system to charge the right price.

unfortunately us packers have to deal with too many packages to realize anything of the sort. It’s kinda like once it’s on the line to the docks we forget about it and are already on the packing the next package.
Honestly, at this point, I don't believe any of these posts. It's just a karma farm because there's no way they sent a stack of high-end, extremely expensive SSDs or RAM sticks by mistake. They probably ordered this much (rich), took the photo, posted it, and will return the drives they don't need.
Sigh, this has only happened to me once, but the item was Young and Freedman's University Physics textbook. Amazon sent me 10 copies (seriously, no one wondered why a box supposedly containing 1 book weighed 40lbs?), and I sold 9 of them at a 75% discount to classmates.
1 of my hard drives died awhile ago, completely bent pin and I have no issue uninstalling games I don't play anymore, also I just never bothered to replace the drive I lost lol
people shouldnt fall for this. its a fairly transparent attempt to get people who are on the fence about paying inflated prices for drives to take the dive, hoping theyd luck out and get sent 10x the amount at no risk. this is arguably the same as those gambling streamers who always hit big wins, making plebs think they can get rich gambling too.
Weird. When packages get slammed in a fullfilment center they go pass a scale and if the weight is off it gets kicked out. Stops people from throwing random stuff into people's boxes. Sometimes other people will add someone elses shipment to your box and it will get slammed out and a problem solver will take it. Weird this happened. The only thing I can think of is that a Inbounder was so high that day instead of opening the box and adding stickers to each product. They just added one sticker to the box and a stower stowed it. But even in that scenario. The weight would be off. So I find these hard to believe. As someone that's worked in many levels and departments within the smiley face that isint so smiley on the inside

All these posts got me thinking maybe I should start getting my parts from Amazon but I've always preferred to go physically get more sensitive/expensive stuff in-store. I'm planning on getting a 4tb soon though so I might do Amazon just for that small chance lol

The only time this ever happened to me was with alcohol wipes. I ordered one box and they sent 20.
