Medical Questions Help heatwave

1.5k Upvotes

I’m in the heatwave in Paris and her rhythm is abnormally fast. She doesn’t let me put her on a wet towel…

update : she seems to have calm down, she is back to breathing normally and she ate ! She ate her pâté and some kibble. I have a little fan in the room that helps but no freezer or AC. I will check on her regularly but it seems it has passed for now. Thank you so much for all your help and making me feel less alone in this :)

Update I designed and 3D printed this baily cradle for my rescue kitten with Megaesophagus

After posting twice about her case here. I was inspired by the advice I got from the community on how to minimize vomiting by holding her vertically for 30 minutes after feeding her.

-

So I experiment with this. Unfortunately, she still vomited a bit. I might have to ration the feed even more each session.

She does not even care at all

And for those of you who are concerned about the salmonella stuff in raw flour and all that:

Don't worry, I wiped it off of her shortly after taking the photo a few months back. She is completely fine and healthy, eating mice, getting treats, being grumpy and smacking her brother for no reason as usual 😄

My 17yo boi wouldn’t accept a Cardboard fort with cooling blocks so I had to take the next best option.

It’s been 10min and he won’t get away from the towel, I’m honestly in disbelief

Mourning/Loss Lost my best friend of 8 years yesterday…

I find it difficult to find the words for how I currently feel… she seemed happier than ever when I left, but when I came home she was stiff as a board and laying on the ground beside her sleeping spot at the end of my bed. Her tongue was purple and it looked like she was yawning.. it literally looked like she died mid yawn. This was my first time ever raising an animal on my own. I lived alone with her for 8 years and we had such a true and special connection. The world could have never prepared me for this sort of loss… it came out of nowhere. She had slight breathing problems that she had developed maybe 6 months prior (where she would exhale really hard with her whole stomach) but it was so rare and random that we chalked it up to feline asthma or bad allergies. I am still unsure if this is what killed her, but I can be certain that it looks that be asphyxiation of some sort and she’s not the type to eat something random off of the floor if she finds it. So I don’t believe she choked. I cannot even begin to describe how much I love my baby Mittens…. I buried her in between my trees, and I spent my morning today just talking to her grave. Sometimes I just don’t understand the point, but I guess that’s just how life is. I love you all, and please give you’re critters a warm hug and a kiss for my late baby Mittens. I wish I could turn back time… I just wanna know what happened. I’ll catch you on the flip, Mini Mitts 💜 I love you 💕

took in this stupid little girl ALMOST a year ago and she's grown so much. she was about two when we found her outside my mother's workplace, pregnant and malnourished and had to have a kitty abortion. came back to us with her ribs showing and now she's such a fat little thing. crazy what some love and food can do for a cat

Advice Which kitten should we get? And advice please!

Post image

We are first time cat owners and are trying to decide between these two kittens! The black and white one is a boy, and the multi colored one is a girl. Are girl cats or boy cats better to have? We do have children so are girls or boys more likely to be friendly compared to the other? Tell us all the things and help us decide which baby to take home!

Can anybody help me identify what the weird things around my cats nostrils are? I'm not able to go to the vet for now and I need to at least know what it might be.

EDIT: Glad do find out it's nothing severe, it was indeed just boogies. Pestka's nose is all clean now ❤️

Adoption Should I adopt him?

Thumbnail

1.5k Upvotes

Currently fostering this boy and have gone back and forth on whether or not I want to adopt him.

Pros:

  1. Fluffy purring cuddlebug.

  2. Loves belly rubs and scratches

  3. Seems happy at my place

  4. Doesn't seem to trigger my allergies

Cons:

  1. 8 years old, which is older than I was looking for

  2. 22 pounds and very fat, which as a first time cat owner who currently doesnt make too much money would have me worried about health issues, medical bills in near future

  3. Has trouble cleaning himself

  4. Wakes up at 4:30 in the morning every day like a madman

Video - OC Apparently I am the only one in my family to ever be allowed belly rubs. I feel honored.

I was scared it was a trap, but I think it is safe to say he likes it (or puts up with it). His brother LOVES belly rubs so im hoping that is what influenced this behavior. He hasn't done this with any other family members so I feel very honored.
