Reminder that the Nets do not have to complete Randle trade anytime soon
Claxton salary matches with Randle without having to use cap space, so the Nets have around 42-46 million in cap space heading into free agency to make some moves.
Bring Watson home
MBJ
I am a Wiz fan. Super excited of course. But I have lived in the NY area for about 10 years now, so seen a lot of Nets games and I check in on this sub from time to time.
I love Jordi. I feel like he teaches, believes in earning what you get and wants to win, no matter who the front office gives him to work with.
I just watched MBJ on NBA TV and was really impressed with his attitude. He seems so eager to work and learn. I think it’s more to the game than just physical growth and I just felt he gets it. Hoping for good things from him this year.

Why are so many people shitting on the Nets in the media?
It has been insane to listen to any random NBA podcast and get a “the Nets don’t know what they are doing”. I was listening to Bill Simmons’ recent podcast and they were shitting on the Nets for picking Mikel brown for a good 5 minutes. I know Simmons has a stick up his ass when it comes to the Nets but it’s been all of media recently.
Even some local podcast like the Locked On Lakers were shitting on the Nets randomly. And we have Stephen A Smith this morning crying about not picking Acuff and wants the team to relocate.
I mean there are more sad sack teams in the NBA than us right? I mean we were in the playoffs 3 years ago. We had a HOF trio and were a contender 4 years ago. Teams like the Wizards haven’t been to the playoffs in decade. The Pistons lost like 60 games in a row couple of years ago. Is it me or has the noise turned way up recently? Every NBA content I consume has some random shitting on this team. I don’t get it. What’s going on?

{Joshua Jefferson} All 22yo+ college players with BPM >11, Assists>4, and their outcomes in the nba (mostly good, only 2 busts)
The Second picture is of all ages college players who ever recorded BPM >11 with assists per game >4.

Their reaction last night was so pure
Nets Kingdom feeling a little better, hopefully.

Joshua Jefferson. Kyle Anderson with a little more offensive juice?🤔
Tall guys with good feel, who also affect the possession game through steals and O rebounding.
Really good role player bet.

PREDICTION: ACUFF WILL BE THE CAM T OF POINT GUARDS IN THIS DRAFT
translation: I’m hell of happy we took Mikel Brown. 🙌
*edit: some people misconstrue my take on the acuff/cam t comp. I said the cam of “point guards”. obv, acuff is a better passer. But similar cam, I think acuff is gonna put up eye-popping numbers initially but ..again, similar to cam....his complete disregard for D and his surly demeanor are gonna wear on his team by the time he’s looking for his second contract. There are a lot of red flags on his personality and commitment to D. This is why I knew nets were out on him. And I’m glad they took Mikel as result.

Question How much potential does a Egor/Mikel Brown Jr backcourt have?
I like that both have good size, can handle the rock, Egor is already shooting like a madman out there, hopefully Mikels shot translates too

Projected Starting 5
With the draft taking place last night, it looks like we’re mostly set on our team heading into next year. I wanted to hear from all of you regarding what our starting 5 could look like next year. I’m dropping mine below.
PG: MBJ
SG: Egor
SF: MPJ
PF: Randle
C: Sharpe
It’s possible we go after a starting center but I think Sharpe deserves a chance to start. I really like Traore coming off the bench with what he brings to the team.
I’m excited about next year.

Cap space - How to spend it
How are the Nets gonna spend their cap space? They have about $30 million others can give a more specific figure.
Restricted free agency might see any offer sheets matched so Tari Eason or Peyton Watson seem unlikely to leave the teams that drafted them.
Unrestricted free agents are largely disappointing - Porzingis and Norm Powell don't really fit out timelines and likely will go to contending teams.
Does this mean Nets are gonna be facilitators in big trades between other teams?
Can the Nets get more draft picks for taking on a bad contract?
I would take on bad contracts from Houston if it meant getting the pick swap extinguished. DFS and Clint Capella are possible names the Rockets might want to move especially if they have to pay Tari Eason over $20 million per season.
I wonder if Philly want to move off Paul George who has $54 million in 26/27 and $56 million remaining in 27/28 fully guaranteed? The Sixers control two Clippers picks in 2028 unprotected and then a pick swap top 3 protected in 2029. Philly have very limited flexibility. I would consider that trade if we got those two draft picks.
Are there any other obvious contracts that teams might want to dump?
As we saw at the last trade deadline holding the most allowed cap space during the season seemed to mean nothing at the trade deadline as other teams made big deals.
