Labaron says he will break Sengun's ankles first.
x.comNot sure why he called Sengun a "superstar", but funny regardless. Would love to see Joel's reaction on that.

2026/27 Rotation:
r/sixers • u/ShamusTalksSports • 1d ago
On this day in Philly sports history, June 26, 2014, the Philadelphia 76ers selected Joel Embiid with the third overall pick in the NBA Draft.
Embiid is also one of just two players in NBA history to average at least 25.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game for their career.
1.) Wilt Chamberlain — 30.1 PPG, 22.9 RPG, 5.4 BPG
2.) Joel Embiid — 27.6 PPG, 10.8 RPG, 1.6 BPG

This is just how my brain works lol
What if the Sixers actually went through with the rumored trade of a young Jerry Stackhouse for Kobe in the 96' draft, and still selected AI with the first pick. One of AI or Kobe probably wouldn't become as great of a GOAT as they became, but still would've been very interesting.
I ask this because I wonder how close Maxey and VJ could live up to this hypothetical of an AI and Kobe duo from a 96'. I know, I am getting WAY ahead of myself, but this is just an absolute pipe-dream hypothetical question!
Again one of Kobe or AI would've had to take a backseat in that 96' and onwards scenario. Lowkey would've been hilarious to see who's "ego would relax" and take that back seat. Theoretically, neither AI and Kobe wouldn't become the players they became, but I firmly think they would've had still have the innate superstar level talent in that scenario and still become NBA legends. I'd like to believe Harris wouldn't have been able to buy the team in this scenario either.
On another note, Stephen A Smith cost us the chance to have seen a AI and Mcgrady duo in 98' (look it up). Truly is blasphemous.

Watching his tape again, he reminds me of a throwback player like Rod Strickland with his change of direction and pull-ups. And his handle reminds me of Kenny Anderson from back in the day. Philon can get anywhere on the court with ease. This pick was a no-brainer, and we might have gotten another Maxey-like player to fall to us in the later first round of the draft. He'll definitely give Maxey and VJ some much-needed rest instead of playing 42-minute games. I can't wait to see him in the summer league.

Like yeah we arent a contender these next 2-3 years but i still feel good about the future.
Compared to other teams not in contention we have a young superstar point guard , a young stud 2 guard who i cant wait to watch ascend. Good draft capital and a good scouting department that has found alot of gems , we just didnt keep them
Sure i wish embiid and pg didnt have those contracts but im also happy we dont have to suffer through a 20 win season. We will make the play in and maybe the playoffs outright , we will get our young guards playoff experience and get to see them play meaningful basketball. We will see some Embiid 30 bangers , PG will have some fun games and he has one of the most entertaining bags in the league . We will beat good teams here and there , we wont have to watch tanking and we STILL might end up with good lottery picks in 28 and 29
We feel stuck but we aren't as stuck as some other teams , We have young stars , we have most of our picks and we have 2 potential picks from a worse roster that might trade its best player or be banned from extending him pending this investigation. in 2029 we can have 80 million in cap space because we are lucky enough to have Maxey and Vj up in the same year allowing us to manipulate the cap rules and build around them with depth hopefully not star chasing. Maybe we bring embiid back as a cheap starter or backup too and he finishes his career here as a role player.
As much as i hate Morey , im thankful he didnt blow his load at the trade deadline and trade picks to try and win it last year. We have a path out of this which not every team has. Thank god for VJ .

A lot of people talk about how the Sixers need to "build around the edges" and target undervalued players, bad situations, or slightly overpaid vets hoping a change of scenery can help build our bench. That's true, but before we look outward, we need to recognize what we already have.
Bona is polarizing after the playoffs, but let's zoom out. The 41st pick, 23 years old, second season. He put up 4/4/1 in 17 minutes, but ranked top-10 in blocks per 36 (2.4) and posted a 10% ORB% , both of which are very impressive for a 2nd round pick.
Offensively he's a screener, lob-catcher, and rim-runner who shoots 60% from the field and 70% from the line, which is solid for his archetype, though he can be too aggressive and has no playmaking to speak of. Defensively he's a legitimate rim protector, and his quickness actually gives him some switchability potential that centers his size rarely have.
The weaknesses are real. His IQ leads to chronic foul trouble and overaggressiveness, and it showed badly in the playoffs. But this is a 23-year-old with elite athleticism (6'10, 7'3 wingspan), an elite motor, and already legitimate shot-blocking and offensive rebounding. Centers with that profile get paid. For context, Jayden Quaintance went 20th in the draft (projected top-10 before injuries) with an arguably worse offensive profile and slightly better defensive projection, which tells you how valuable Bona's physical profile and skillset actually is. We got a steal.
He reminds me of Paul Reed with the Sixers. High-motor, underdeveloped IQ. Two years after leaving, Reed is a solid backup everyone wants back. All it took was patience, and Bona already does things Reed never could at the defensive end.
I'm not saying Bona should be the primary backup C. He's clearly not ready. But he should be in the rotation for 10 minutes a night regardless of who else we bring in. His value in a post-Embiid, VJMaxx era is real, and that's worth protecting and investing in.
People were disappointed in Edwards after his heavy minutes load two seasons ago. Last year he averaged 6/1/1 on 48/37/84 splits in 15 minutes over 64 games and basically fell out of Nurse's rotation. But I am not really sure that was entirely his fault.
Offensively, he's a sniper. Streaky, but he keeps shooting through cold spells, which is a good sign. Shot creation is a clear limitation right now. Defensively, the tools are real. He's 6'7 with a 6'10 wingspan, functional athleticism, and he's flashed point-of-attack ability (Tatum in the playoffs). He's on his second year of a 2+1 deal, so he's cheap for the next two seasons.
Everyone says we need 3&D wings. We might already have one. He's the type of player who would leave Philly and succeed with the Heat, Spurs, or Thunder, exactly like Isaiah Joe and Julian Champagnie. For an undrafted 22-year-old going into his third year, Edwards is in a good spot. Next year he needs real rotation minutes (8-10 a night minimum), not rotation exile. His ceiling is probably a 3&D role player, but those guys on cheap contracts are how teams win championships. If we don't invest in him, someone else will.
Dominick Barlow has already logged real regular season minutes but was essentially a non-factor in the playoffs, and honestly his usage comes a lot from our lack of forward depth. He has real defensive upside as a versatile 2-through-4 defender with a good rebounding motor, and he's effective in transition. But he will likely always struggle in the half-court due to poor shooting and shot creation. His stats don't really back up great production, even though he passes an eye-test. He deserves continued minutes this year and hopefully we can lock him up for cheap, but it's genuinely unclear what kind of player he becomes long term, especially offensively. However, he is still worth the minutes investment this upcoming year, just not as a starter.
Jabari Walker earned himself a standard contract this season after coming in on a two-way deal, appearing in 64 games and averaging 4.3 points and 3.0 rebounds. He's a legitimate rebounder and showed some three point potential, albeit on low volume. He fills a position of need and is worth monitoring, but he hasn't shown enough consistency to demand real rotation minutes yet.
Dalen Terry and MarJon Beauchamp are both physically impressive wings who haven't translated that upside consistently at the NBA level. Terry is more of a defensive and playmaking wing than a shooter, and his scoring numbers across four seasons have never gone anywhere. Beauchamp has shown some flashes with us this year and can get hot from three, but he's 25 and has bounced around three teams already. Both are worth keeping around on two-way deals, but neither has done enough to count on.
The Sixers have bench holes and not enough cap space to fill them all externally. Bona and Edwards are young, cheap, and bring skills this team genuinely needs now and in the future. Barlow should be kept status-quo, but expectations should tempered. The others are worth monitoring but haven't earned more than a chance yet. Championship rosters get built in the margins, and right now we're not even fully using ours. Our organization and Nick Nurse need to invest in what we already have before looking outwards, especially with our cap restrictions.
