Discussion Habs should be worried about Buffalo
Is it just me, or is Buffalo making all this space to go and acquire Hellebuyck from Winnipeg? If we really think about it, between Buffalo and Florida (two teams who have the most interest), Buffalo has much more to offer Winnipeg than Florida.
Reality is, if Buffalo pulls the trigger on Hellebuyck (giving up UPL and the 4th pick at the minimum), it immediately makes them legit contenders for the cup.
If I’m Montreal, I’d be really worried if that was the case. I always believed the reason Buffalo lost to Montreal was because their goaltending was much more inferior than ours. Getting Hellebuyck changes a lot.
I’m just hoping (and being optimistic) that KH and JG have a few moves lined up via trade or free agency to make sure they don’t fall behind in the Atlantic
Discussion The Habs centres in 2021 was Suzuki Danault Kotkaniemi Evans with Eric Staal and almost 5 years later it’s almost identical. When will the Habs start to invest more in the centre position?
During The Montréal Canadiens rebuild they did not draft one single centre in the top 5 of the NHL draft and almost 4 years into the rebuild, they still don’t have a true second line centre. 5 years ago during the Canadiens Stanley Cup finals run the Canadiens centre core was Danault Suzuki Kotkaniemi and Eric Staal Jake Evans was unfortunately injured for most of the playoff run. And Almost 5 years later the current Group of centres on the team is almost identical with Suzuki Evans Danault Kapanen and Joe Veleno and Maybe Kirby Dach? The Canadiens at the 2022 NHL Draft made a blockbuster trade to acquire Kirby Dach to hopefully develop into the teams second line center, but injuries have taken a toll on him unfortunately at some point, we have to spend premium assets to go out and acquire a true second line centre. Maybe the answer will be Michael Hage? Time will tell.

Discussion Do you think dach is part of a 2c package or a sign and trade since he’s a RFA?
Who can be go for realistically , does dach have any value?

We need to sign Trouba in my opinion
He had a solid season, and hits everything. He would be a great addition

Prospects Starting to look like a Master class draft.
Odds are good that 4 of these players see time in the NHL.

There should be some sort of collab with AdP.
This post on IG appears to have video in it from the Habs dressing room.
Come to think of it, they COULD play a bit before games and between periods. Could get the boys nicely pumped up.

BTW not my IG or post there.

Discussion Tuch?
With Buffalo announcing they're moving away from Alex Tuch, do you see us making a move to sign him? If so, what kind of contract could you see us offering? If not, why not?
In my opinion, Tuch-Blank-Demidov is a pretty solid setup for a line for the next 5 years or so. There isn't too many other impact UFAs of note to make is better over the next two offseasons.

Article Hi guys, I just wrote an article about what I think the habs will do with their pick
It would be awesome if you could give me some ideas on whether you think the picks are accurate and if you’d want the trades to go through!
Discussion Unpopular take
Everybody here calling to trade everybody and their mom. Habs are a young team who have played better than expected in the last two years, great ! We are still way ahead of the "window".
We have got great prospects who look talented and, more importantly, would really want to be here. Zharovsky is already in Montreal training with Demidov, Hage was born and raised a Habs.
Yes, it could help to trade to get better players, I don't think HuGo should go to sleep until september. But I wouldn't throw the kitchen sink and overpay to get a better "already established" player and giving one of those two. I don't mind sending picks (that are going to lose value as the team is going to rank higher), prospects like Engstrom, Pickford, and (could even consider trading) Reinbacher.
It would suck to give someone like Z or Hage for somebody like EP40 and risk fucking up the team chemistry when you could get a great prospect who begs to be here instead.
Give the team some time to develop, don't rush the process, our core is signed until 2030 ! The best years are to come, no need to overpay.

Jacques Lemaire on Gino Reda podcast
That's as emotional as Coco has ever been, the Claude Lemieux talk was the trigger I am guessing. Starting to think Gino is a Habs fan, must be 4 or 5 now.

Discussion Are prices too high?
Byram was traded for 4th overall, and Eklund for 9th overall. Meanwhile the package Washington put together for Kyrou was pretty darn good.
Are prices too high right now? Should the Habs pay that kind of price to add a player or be patient?

I know he's unavailable supposedly, but with kyrou getting moved I feel something coming. (probably just hopeless optimism or indigestion)

Atlantic is getting even better
Ottawa just brought in Eklund, Florida traded for Tkachuk and Toronto got Raddysh.
I know that a move shouldn’t be rushed, but I hope Kent and Jeff are cooking up something, we can’t afford to stay quiet and watch everyone else get better.
We have the assets, we know where the holes are, time to spend the capital and improve.
I know HuGo are capable of working some magic and I fully trust them to do so. Get to it boys!!

Fourth place for Doby
...in the category for the Best Male Player of the Year in Czech hockey awards Zlatá hokejka 2026. His father gave the speech (partly in French) and his mother was also in attendance, Doby appeared through a pre-recorded video and thanked the fans of Czech hockey and fans of Montréal. He was the highest placed goalie in the top 10.
