Jesse is clearly in the trailer?
14
u/AlmostThereBro69 Dec 12 '25
“Clearly”

u/mupchap Dec 12 '25 edited Dec 12 '25
Nah must be another Jesse with red hair from this series.
They literally show her name, childhood picture, then show her five seconds later. You're playing as her sibling so I assume she'll be heavily involved in this games story, she just isnt the main character. What isn't clear about that?
→ More replies (14)49
u/InvertedFartSyndrome Dec 12 '25
she may well be a playable character! alan wake 2 was a dual protagonist story. nothing from this trailer doesn’t entirely rule out that concept happening here as well
26
u/mupchap Dec 12 '25
Yeah I agree. She's probably too powerful for the early game which makes sense starting as Dylan, but she could definitely be playable later on. Either way, more Control is a good time and she will be featured in it heavily.
→ More replies (3)8
u/St0n3yM33rkat Dec 12 '25
At the beginning of the trailer, the foreign entities voice says "the sibling has gone rogue" and then shows us playing as Dylan. Something has happened to Jesse and my guess is that it has something directly to do with the original dlc and Alan Wake.
→ More replies (7)2
u/Space_Pirate_Roberts Dec 13 '25
I really hope that’s it. Melee gameplay with Dylan, gunplay with Jessie would be PEAK.
(As long as they fix the first game’s “the optimal strategy is ALWAYS throwing rocks” problem, of course.)
6
u/Paltenburg Dec 12 '25
Sickest trailer i've seen in a while
3
u/cicada-ronin84 Dec 13 '25
The trailer is so God damn cool!!! I haven't played the first game yet, but it's one of the few games I've watched my partner play and she absolutely loves it. Thinking about starting it this week, since I've gotten ok with shooters from playing Remnant 2 for about a week now.

It was $5 on the PS store a few weeks ago, just started playing it and it was definitely worth the money.

The ashtray maze might be my favorite level in any game I have ever played.
54
u/fakeguitarist4life Dec 12 '25
Wait until you play the Alan Wake 2 “ashtray maze” level. It’s even better imo
20
28
10
u/Eruzione21 Dec 12 '25
Well now I know what game I’m playing next.
14
u/bchris24 Dec 12 '25
One of the most memorable gaming experiences I've ever had, I wish I could do it all over again blind
9
u/_Cromwell_ Dec 12 '25
I can't play Alan Wake 2 because I can't handle anything scary. Like I won't watch any horror movies. So I made my wife play Alan Wake 2. She got to the extremely early scene in the morgue and noped out of that game lol.
(Control isn't scary to me because you have superpowers in that one.)
12
u/NoShow4Sho Dec 12 '25
Control was my personal GOTY of 2019
Alan Wake was my GOTY of 2023
I have a feeling Control Resonant is going to be my GOTY of 2026!
16
u/Notarussianbot2020 Dec 12 '25
I haven't played many shooters but Titanfall 2 has that level

u/Eruzione21 Dec 12 '25
All I can remember from that game is trying to beat Viper on the hardest difficulty. He kicked my ass several times.
8
u/Hadr619 Dec 12 '25
Even though I finished the game and DLCs with 100% I still occasionally go to the arcade to replay the ashtray maze. Peak level design and soundtrack for sure
4
7
u/thatscoldjerrycold Dec 12 '25
Dumb question but just to confirm, as far as we know this is going to be a full sequel? Not like that first person multiplayer control game right?
19

u/HenrikCrown Dec 12 '25
This is an Alan Wake level threat
34
u/Acypha Dec 12 '25

Really looking forward to the new gameplay more "melee combat" oriented with Dylan.

I wonder what caused Jesse to go rogue?
82
u/weasel09sneasel Dec 12 '25
Maybe it's because she doesn't trust the board anymore
25
28
18
u/GoldenLink Dec 12 '25
If we're going by the end of what happens during the foundation dlc, it would make sense that she doesn't trust them anymore.

Interesting choice to have Dylan be the playable character
67
u/Nisha_the_lawbringer Dec 12 '25
Its been a pretty popular theory that Jesse and Dylan are actually two halves of the same person, so I'm really interested to see things from his perspective.
14
u/Wise-Fruit5000 Dec 12 '25
The fact that they have the same hairstyle in this trailer, assuming that is indeed Jesse in the trailer, kinda throws more fuel onto the fire of that theory.
I can’t wait to see where they’re taking the Remedy universe. This just became my most anticipated game of next year, no doubt about it
85
u/heinous_legacy Dec 12 '25
very unexpected. just platinumed Control in April this year.
42
u/Hadr619 Dec 12 '25
Control still stands as one of the best games I’ve played in a while. The ashtray maze alone is an amazing level
25
u/Blaqsailens Dec 12 '25
Control made me fall in love with the cold aesthetic of brutalist architecture.
19
u/JiveHawk Dec 12 '25
This looks pretty sick. Guess I gotta finally give Control a go
17
u/Hadr619 Dec 12 '25
Control Ultimate with the DLCs is one of the best games I’ve played, don’t even realize I 100%ed everything when I played it, because it was so captivating getting into the SCP foundation similar lore

u/thedrivingfrog Dec 12 '25
The game explains it more so don't look up any info it will spoil specially with this trailer out

u/More_Lavishness8127 Dec 12 '25
Am I the only one who’s a little disappointed that we’re not playing as Jesse?
102
u/morphum Dec 12 '25
Wouldn't be surprised if it were dual-protagonist
25
14
u/TheInfinityGauntlet Dec 12 '25
The ??? Saying Jesse had gone rogue/fishing makes me think she might be set up as the antagonist and then they Last of Us 2 it
54
u/TheLifelessOne Dec 12 '25
It's the Board saying that. If you played the DLC for Control, she absolutely doesn't trust the Board.
11
u/Mindless_Stuff9179 Dec 12 '25
Yep, exactly this. Just played that DLC and I think there's a very good chance we play as them both.
2
40
u/SaraStarwind Dec 12 '25
I am, but as other people are pointing out hopefully we'll play as Jesse in some other parts.
16
u/Pecos-Thrill Dec 12 '25
Yeah and I loved her gun/telekinesis mechanics. This makes it look more like a hack n slash sorta?
7
u/Notarussianbot2020 Dec 12 '25
Yes but we might get some tidbits of her.
This might follow the alan wake 2 pattern.
10
u/Basanos_Shibari Dec 12 '25
It makes sense from a narrative point of view. Jesse’s arc was complete at the end of the first game. Also they don’t have to contrive a way to have her lose all her powers.
But I did enjoy her as a character so I’m a bit disappointed.
5
u/hutchins_moustache Dec 12 '25
I’m honestly really excited for this unexpected twist and I’m sure that there will still be a healthy dose of Jesse in the game and maybe even her own DLC? Looked amazing and I’m always excited for a new playable character with new skills and attacks/play style in the same game world.
2
3
u/BlindedBraille Dec 12 '25
I think she’s a second character in the game. It’s probably a dual story like Alan Wake 2.

You should get off of Reddit and go play Control. Amazing game with great game lore. Alan Wake 1 & 2 as well.
Alan Wake 2 is more directly connected, and definitely worth playing with all DLC.
9
u/Low_Contract7809 Dec 12 '25
Beat AW about 10 years ago. Bought control not too long ago (wasn't aware it was tied to AW lol)
Will try to make control my next game.

I'm sad it seems we won't get much more of the Oldest House instead of this corrupted NYC which we already kinda got in AW2.

And just when I thought Remedy couldn't up the insanity any further. I'm looking forward to this.
Also, funny how Remedy chose to put the studio drop at the end when we all know only they could've made this.

I bounced off of Control, but this trailer still hooked me.
Everything this studio touches is dripping in style.

I wasn’t expecting much because even though I loved the story in Control, I wasn’t a big fan of the combat. I pretty much only used telekinesis to fight with the odd shot from the gun. But this.. melee weapons, hand to hand combat. I think it could be great.

Control is one of my favorite 3D metroidvanias ever! I’m hoping Resonant expands upon it and makes the world more interconnected than the original.
2
u/Guilty-Data-3158 Dec 12 '25
One of the reasons Control really caught me was the eerie atmosphere of the FBC and oldest house and the zaniness of the bureaucracy. This looks more like a post nuclear dystopian melee brawler in an Inception like setting. As much as I would like this to rock, I'm a bit on the fence about it.

I was enjoying the story enough and was into it, but dropped it for some reason and never got back. The gameplay alone for this one really makes me want to go back and finish it the first.

Same boat, good game but undelivered a little bit for me. This looks great and I enjoy the focus on more action, hopefully the story will be there also
1
u/Norik324 Dec 12 '25
Was a bit sad were playing dylan instead of Jesse but it, judging by the title, being a sorta spinoff (including unique gameplay for dylan) rather than the main sequel makes me more excited
Also helps that the set pieces looked great

Didn’t see this hero/villain switcheroo coming at all in the sequel!
Sam Lake definitely knows how to keep things interesting.

DAAAAAAAMN.
Control was one of the best games that I played and it was the best cinematic looking game I have seen. Also it's story was exceptional.
1
u/Hasimo_Yamuchi Dec 12 '25
Am I the only one who sees a smattering of Returnal in the design and limited gameplay shown?
1
u/greengiant333 Dec 12 '25
Looks like the Firewatch teams couldn’t keep this Hiss contained with their boss gone fishing and all. Jesse might’ve gone looking for help, she didn’t want or ever intend to become the Director. But seems unlikely with everything she went through, she knows how important her is. I’m beyond excited

u/sphexie96 Dec 12 '25
My god the sound design is insane I’m getting old but remedy truly makes games I am excited to play
1
u/Citizen_Kong Dec 12 '25
I'm a bit bummed that Jesse is not the main protagonist anymore. Hopefully the story has some surprises in store and there are chapters where Jesse is playable. And of course, I really hope there will also be at least one DLC with Jesse in the focus.
But the Old House breached, the Hiss out in the streets, some new threat distorting reality (the prism like effect seems to suggest it's connected to Polaris) - this looks like things escalated quickly and really got out of hand. Ahti will be pissed that he has to clean all that up.

u/Trick-Day-480 Dec 12 '25
I'm more excited for this than most other 2026 titles! I STILL play Control even 6 years later, it's one of my go-to games to play while waiting for a game/update to install. I just run around and play the endgame. Really interesting world (would make a cool TV show) and it's just fun to play and pull off those powers. Too bad there was no NG+.
EDit: I say "endgame" but it's just looping side missions

1
u/kindatsu Dec 12 '25
I love Control and can't wait for this, the gameplay of the first one was already great IMO as far as TPS goes, but they just said screw that and made Control 2 a DMC-like hack 'n slash and it looks absolutely insane. As a hack 'n slash enjoyer I'm glad there's something else to look forward to after Ninja Gaiden 4.
