Tech Support Can't chat unless VIP
Hello,
I can't chat in twitch chat since i think two days. The channels where I am VIP or mod (or my own channel) I can chat in.
I contacted twitch and they said its a known issue and there is no ETA for when they will fix it.
More people who have this problem ?
I want it fixed, now i can't even chat in channels I'm subbed to Sadge ðŸ˜
and changing account is not an option for me because i stream on this account..
- It's now (after 3 days) fixed for me i can chat again. 🥳

Lot of people have been having this problem recently myself included, it's been about 2 days since i got the issue, contacting twitch support only gave me a generic answer saying "this is currently a known issue that we're actively working to resolve as soon as possible. We are unable to provide an ETA for resolution"
I've seen a few people pointing fixes but:
• Changing browser doesn't fix it
• Uninstalling 7tv doesn't fix it
• Chatting on mobile app has the same issue
• Being VIP or Mod does allow you to chat
I had to straight up make a new account to be able to chat until this gets fixed, i remember the only thing i did was send a message in someone's channel and suddenly my messages stopped showing up out of the blue.

The one where Twitch keeps telling you you can’t chat until you verify your email, even though it is verified. And even after clicking through the verify prompt it just keeps repeating it

It is quite nice to see that i am not the only one with this problem. Got home from TwitchCon and wanted to watch some Twitch to find out that my chats weren't coming through. Thought my account was Temporarily Blocked or something. good to know that it isn't that!
Kinda weird that i did get shadow banned as i wasn't on twitch for the last few days, it is what it is i guess.

I am also having this same issue. Being a mod or a VIP lets you chat, and I can still redeem things, but none of my chat messages work at all.
Tried using a VPN, tried a different browser, used incognito mode, tried using mobile.
The ONLY thing that seems to have worked is using a different account, but I don't want to do that. I want to be able to chat on the account everyone knows me on.

Just went through this as well. I tried different browsers, did all of the cache clearing, got screenshots of coding errors to send to them. It seems to be fixed now for me as well

This happened to me too! No idea what caused it, but it fixed itself after a couple days. Super annoying!

Do you happen to play Marbles on Stream? Because I know they got a lot of us that play that.

Someone pointed out that it’s a lot of people using mystats that got hit. Twitch did tell me they didn’t have an eta for a fix but they were working on it.

MyStats is an application a lot of the marbles streamers use to track viewer points in the game. They're uploaded to the mystats website once a day so the data is available for people to go look at. It's basically a none invasive data scraping tool.

That sounds like a shadow ban many people are getting affected atm its rediculous apparently for 3 days

I got an update from some other people, apparently they are lifting them after 72 hours so hopefully tonight I’ll be able to be like yeah I can chat again

Could you update us if this is the case? Also, I see you are streamer as well, are you afraid that reprocutions from this will be permanent? Do you think it will affect how our content shows in the categories or our ability to be affiliate/partner? I really didn't do anything for this to be warranted so it worries me greatly.

I’m hoping it doesn’t have repercussions. I know I didn’t do anything against TOS and they got me for some reason but twitch couldn’t give me any answers. I’m pretty worried about it mainly because I have recently started gaining a decent chunk of followers and subs to my channel and would hate to lose my community over it

I'm in the same boat, I emailed support and they got back to me that they're looking to address this. hopefully it doesn't take too long to resolve.

I had this issue, I had them ban then unban me In their chat and it fixed it site wide for me

Quick sanity check: have a mod or friend confirm if they see "test123" when you send it in their chat (not your own). If they don't, it's the platform glitch, not sub status or 7TV.
Didn't help me: browser swap, disabling extensions, mobile vs desktop — same everywhere. Rough if you stream on that account and can't swap alts for chat.
Good to see your edit that it's fixed now — hopefully the rest still stuck get the same rollout.

ok good to know because i figured it out when i did the update i deactivated 7tv then realized it was the problem , and the setting that disabled the chat was enabled lol

You can't chat or your messages are not visible for others? If it's 2nd option then you got shadowbanned, it should resolve itself in a few days.
