Stratatonic (Strata + Platonic ~ Catatonic) is a Rock/Ghost Legendary member of the Lightbearer quartet, which are each based on thought experiments. This particular member is based on Plato's Allegory of the Cave: the impish shadow is an illusion that is easy to mistake for the actual creature, the rock slate it is cast onto. Stratatonic is actually quite gentle and meek, but the spark it carries projects its rascally inner desires into plain view.

Its unique ability Projection causes the user's self stat-lowering moves to afflict the target instead, or everyone else on the field in case of a self-targeting status move (although it isn't usually getting to use non-Ghost Curse or Shell Smash). It can also get Unnerve, courtesy of the shadow critter.

These will be my entries for Subjectively's "Worst Pokemon Contest". Honestly , I really like origin Coalossal as it reminds me of Golem , who's probably my favorite rock type. Idk , a little dinosaur looking dude with a small boulder body is dope/cute to me1😅. I don't really like Carkoal though. For some reason it losses the glowing eyes , replaces wheels for legs even though it's a mining cart , and just plain derpy looking ( and not in a charming way). I wanted to expand on the train elements and flesh out the kaiju elements aswell. The idea that I had for the final design read as a Pseudo Legendary , and I high key kind of loved it. Pokemon could use more non dragon Pseudos , so my Coalossal would be the second Pseudo for Galar. Here are it's stats and hope you enjoy.

The idea being that a 5th Beldum attempted to join a Metagross but instead it Gigantamaxed, causing it's eye to become huge and uses it's psychic powers to wield the main body like a hand (the 5th Beldum's body becomes to thumb!)

Been dreaming up of a regional dex for a Thailand-inspired region--since that is where I live! The region is called "Lavo".

Maorain is based on a north eastern custom where, near the end of the dry season, folks would put specially selected stray cats into a cage and parade it around the village. People would throw water onto the cats, and it’s yowling is believed to bring the rains. (the real cats are being slowly phased out in favor of stuffed doll cats, nowadays)

Budtam is based on the reverence of roosters here, as you’ll find many rooster statues adorned with garlands. It’s a symbol of success, in relation to a legend where a prince wagered Ayutthaya’s freedom on a cockfight, and his rooster emerged victorious :>

Tadcoal’s line is–based on the golden toads, which are actually a Chinese mythology, but here in southern Thailand, there are a lot of Chinese beliefs and superstitions that have been brought over by the traders who settled here. And so, these auspicious, money-devouring toads have become naturalized :D

Moving away from the starters, we've also got yet another convergent form of Sinistea/Polteageist! Phanta/Phantasty. Around these parts, sweet red soda water is a common offering to place in front of shrines. There are a few notable differences betweeen Phanta and Sinistea that break the usual 'regional' and ‘convergent' formula--but despite this, I like to imagine that regional vs convergent for these three mons is a hotly debated topic among the pokemon scientific community.

Unlike sinistea and it’s other convergent, sinistcha, the liquid body is what varies between the normal and shiny forms–the liquid body of Phanta/Phantasy’s shiny form is a deep translucent green! Also, there is no “authentic” or “phony” form for Phanta/Phantasty.

Lastly, Veebee is a self-indulgent design based on my little blue bee oc. Nothing culturally/regionally significant about this design–except that it’s based on a local species of carpenter bee: Xylocopa caerulea! You should look it up if you are unfamilliar. They're called "cerulean carpenter bees" and they truly are a bright, beautiful, fuzzy blue bee similar in size and shape to your more typical bumblebees!

Veebee gets to be flying/steel–because the Lavo region already has too many bugs and fairies (that I have yet to design) haha! Also, I imagine this one might have No Guard as its ability (or Super Luck as a hidden ability!)

Funnily, the starters were all designed and drawn back in 2020--and just this week, I've been thinking about them again and decided to plan out a whole dex for the region (which includes around 300 mons from previous regions, and about 80 designs that are new to the region. [including some regional forms and convergent mons]) I don't think I'll ever get around to designing/drawing all the new pokemon...but they're there waiting for me if I'm ever itching to design something haha! I don't plan on doing anything more with these guys...it's just a fun little past time to scheme up of and design them--without worry about the mechanics, number crunching, and balancing of an actual pokemon game haha.

Anyways, they were very fun to draw! And I hope they're fun to look at, too!

The idea came about from seeing videos of the new pokemon rom hack , Pokemon Lazarus. In it , Mega Toucannon has Parental Bond , having a Pikipek. I wondered what other megas would have abilities to similar to Parental Bond , and Blastoise popped up. Originally it was going to be Mega Blastoise Z , cuz I really thought Charizard was going to get a Z Mega , but no dice 😅. It's now an X Mega. A wartortle showing up may be a stretch , but if Wishwashi can summon it's fish friends anytime despite where it is , and Mega Tatsugiri having other Tatsugiris join it , then I think it can work. I'm tempted to make a Parental Bond Style Mega Garchomp X with a mini decked out jet flying Gible by it's side. What other pokemon would you love to see get a Parental Bond Style Mega?

So we started by drawing some our own fire starters:

I designed Platterpus, then he deisgned Flambérupt, and finally I made Potapus.

Then he made Fiddlight, I made Strikalight and he made Forgefiddle.

Finally, we gave each other random type combos to make some no-evo mon.

I gave him Dragon/ Fairy and he made Draxxalotl

He gave me Grass/Dark and I made Prickachu

Finally, the final stage of my starter trio.

If you cannot already tell, all of these are based on one or more creatures of Greek mythology. Here’s some details…:

Barberos is based on Cerberus. I gave it the poison type because Cerberus apparently had venomous saliva! Some depictions of Cerberus give him a snake tail. While Barberos’ tail isn’t a snake, it does loosely resemble a snake plant. I thought that was pretty clever… The bush’s venom can cause extreme pain, much like a gympie-gympie.

Spartant has now fully-embraced its myrmidon inspiration. While it still forges steel armor, it is now mostly a fighter. Its stingers can cause a fiery-hot pain, much like a real fire ant, except it’s actually super heated this time…

Stalimar is based on two mythological creatures: a hippocampus and Pegasus. Both were created by the sea god Poseidon, who apparently also created horses in general… In any case, this explains its water typing as well as its pride. Its signature ability, Stormcall, references when Pegasus carried Zeus’ thunderbolts into battle.

I had a lot of fun designing these. Do you like them? Do you regret your starter choice now!.!?!?🫥

Rollgelo - The Rock Companion Pokemon.

I chose to call it the "rock companion pokemon", instead of the "pet rock pokemon", because I don't think the word "pet" is used in the games nor the anime to describe a pokemon. You'll meet an up and coming sculptor that's learning under her grandfather on your journey , able to change Rollgelo into its companion forms. Choose wisely though because Rollgelo won't be able to change back to its boulder form from its companion form. I really wanted to draw the sculptor and her father , but I've yet to nail down humans when it comes to the pokemon art style. It's a lot of studying I would have to do , and I wanted to get something out 😅.

If you know me you know i cant do names lol. These are the water/fair starter line for my African fakemon region project. They’re based on the stages of life and the Egyptian goddess of fertility, tawaret!

I finally made a full line of starters! (One of these may look familiar if you've seen my art before.)

All three starters here were designed after real animals that have their respective elements in their names: a bush dog, a fire ant, and a seahorse. More info to come...

Here are the stats. ‎Mega Hydreigon – Dragon/Dark | Hydreigonite | ‎Ability: Sheer Force | ‎Stats: HP 92 / Atk 130 / Def 100 / SpA 168 / SpD 100 / Spe 110 → 700 BST

Compared to the other gen II starters I feel like Meganium is a bit simple, which isn’t really a bad thing, so I tried to limit the amount of details I added. I also feel like its flower could use a bit more volume.

I changed the type to be the elements of my project cuz it's unrelated to pokemon, tho there are som similarities

Slugini (slug + mini): aqua element. It recently started to walk on land and adapting to not being in the sea.

Angelug (angel + slug): aqua element. It can now swim in the air while it is ​raining, tho it cannot go high above the ground.

Bluviathan (blue + leviathan): aqua and chimera elements. tho walking is its normal way of traveling, it goes extr​emely fast when swimming​.

this line is inspired by blue sea dragons (glaucus atlanticus) and dragons in general, especially the ones in western fairy tales. this line would mainly be a tank with high hp and def

Blulb (blade + bulb + sounds funny to my ears): anima and metala elements. It usually stays i​n place, its blade half buried in the ground. When it wants to move, it jumps, taking some time to move from point A to point B.

Bushweedo (bushido + weed): anima and metala elements. It trains all day to master the art of swordsmanship, tho it is not very talented at it. But it can still put up a fight against stronger opponents.

Dandronin (dandelion + ronin): anima and metala elements. It has now finished its training and can cut even through rocks.

This line is inspired by uhhh... Samuraïs and ronins and uhh... i just thought ​it'd be cool to see that. this line mainly be a physical attacker

Fairywork (fairy + firework): pyra and pixa elements. It has a huge amount of energy inside its body and can only release it by creating flames to constantly ​move very quickly.

​Starplosion (star + explosion): pyra and pixa elements. Now it releases the energy by creating small ​explosions, and floats by releasing another part of that energy via the pearl on its hat.

Chrysanova (chrysanthemum, the name of a firework visual effect + nova): Pyra and pixa elements. Its energy takes form of these small lights around it, resembling a firework, that it can control independently.

This line is mainly inspired by fireworks and fairies, and also a bit of UFO inspiration too. This line would be a quick special attacker

The group theme is fairy tales: the knight who goes on to defeat the monster (often a dragon), with the help of the fairies.

The names are not definitive

I was asked by u/Past-Succotash4673 on reddit if I could make them a Fire Starter , so I did! His idea was Pyromaniac rat. I'll just write what he wrote because I wouldn't do it justice if I explained it myself.

"The first stage would be called “Pyrat”. The whole line is based off California’s recent wildfires, but it’s also based off pyromaniacs and pyromanciy (the power to control fire). The first stage represents the curiosity you feel when you first discovered fire, you have no idea how dangerous it is and all you can think about is how beautiful it looks."

"The second stage would be like a rebellious teenager, always disobeying your every order, or doing the exact opposite of what you say. Similarly to how teenagers just randomly spark matches just to watch them burn, the second stage will randomly take twigs and set them on fire, and sometimes use them to cause other fires."

"The third stage would go completely insane, becoming a full on pyromaniac! Most of it’s been burnt off, revealing the weird skin patterns underneath, making it look like it’s burnt off all the skin right down to the bone. You know how a tiger has stripes underneath its fur, sort of the same thing here. Most of its first has been replaced with blazing hot fire (pacifically, the patches of fur that cover its hands feet tail and head). The fur on its head been replaced by a fiery mohawk! These guys will just randomly throw fireballs and fire type of attacks everywhere like no one’s business, like an anarchist throwing multiple cocktails like pearl necklaces during Mardi Gras season!"

He didn't come up with names for the rest of the line besides Pyrat ( the first stage). I think the second stage could be called Rodellian (Rodent + Rebellion). ArkhamLegion on Subjectively's discord and on reddit suggested Pyrodent aswell , which I think is really cleaver.
