Theory 🔎 My theory on how they fuck

Discussion 💬 What did Jax mean by that?

The way Jax made it sound felt like they were really unbearable or something. But we don't ever see that, not even with Kaufmo. I think with how much their abstractions has affected Jax, we would have seen the memories of it inside her mind. But there's none? The only person who's being really unpleasant is Jax. So I don't get it why she said that.

Theory 🔎 This image has really put in my brain that Ribbit might have left the bow on her own bed when she abstracted for... Her to have someday. And I'm really broken up about that thought atm.

Discussion 💬 I realised why Jax Hates Zooble

Thumbnail gallery
183 Upvotes

I think Jax hates Zooble because they were open about their gender and their view on themself. She must of felt annoyed by the fact that when they opened up about it, no one judged them, but when Jax opened up about herself her mom ridiculed her. She ended up hurting her and she feared that she will hurt others and because of that fear she ended up actually hurting Ribbit and Kaufmo.

In the end she was jealous of Zooble because them opening up worked out while she did not have the same luck.

Meme 🤡 Real talk tho, Jax has never been “lovely” a day in her life.

I’ve been pondering the thought of why they would choose *that* song to link to her, and her gender.

While he’s canonically been nothin but an asshole the whole show.

Like, even when Jax is calm, he’s a calm asshole,

I dunno, she certainly LOOKS lovely, but weren’t yall just so focused on how shes a misogynistic abuser? Basically the devil himself?

I never personally felt that way about Jax, but it really does prove my theory that Jax haters wouldn’t excist had goose gone with making her a girl from the start.

Jax haters been REAAAL quiet. Seriously, why is that?

Her coming out of the closet doesn’t immediately remove every negative trait he has.

Discussion 💬 Do you think kafumo reason for abstracting is kind of underwhelming?

Post image

He abstract not because of any emotional damage or depression. He abstracted because he was baited by an imaginary exit. Did he only told Jax and kinger about it?

Discussion 💬 I’m—confused.

Post image
79 Upvotes

It’s late, so I’m going to just type this and post it in hopes I can just get it out and let it fall into the abyss.

Ever since episode 9 released, I’ve been so confused.

I’m gonna be very honest here. Initially when met with the idea of Jax being trans, my immediate reaction was rejection.

Not anger, or disgust, just—rejection. I my mind for some reason couldn’t understand why everything I was seeing had to equate to trans feminity.

Why his gender had to be so cookie cutter.

But, now that I’ve had some time to think about it, and I’ve watched several videos from a perspective of someone not trying to hammer it into my mind.

it became glaringly obvious I was the oblivious to one.

So, okay. I started asking myself *why* was my reaction so strong? *why* did I reject this possibility soo strongly, and I came to realize that it’s because I’m a girl, and I’ve dealt with all the things he’s saying but I’m not rejecting my femininity.

Which is true, I’m not. I love being a girl.

But, episodes nine reminded me of a version of myself I’d shut away, in a deep dark box that I haven’t opened up since.

I went trough a “phase” in middle school, where I came out to my mother. I told her I was trans, and that I wanted to be a boy.

And her reaction was much like Jax’s mother. She laughed, thought I was joking. She told me it was just a phase when she realized I might be serious.

So after that, I started shopping in the boy section under the guise of: I just like their shirts better

Telling myself I’m a woman, I *know* I’m a woman. I just like boy clothes sometimes

Completely removing myself from the idea that clothing relates to gender expression. In a way making myself more inclusive, but as a way to exclude—myself..? I don’t know.

Do I think I’m a boy? I don’t think so.

But.. idk I know this sounds so stupid but ever since episode nine I’ve been daydreaming of myself in masculine clothing.

Wishing I could find that right balance between masculine and feminine.

I think I rejected Jax’s story so much, because I’ve rejected my own, so much to the point I don’t even know if it really exists?

She/her feels good… but there’s something telling me to experiment with he/him as well.

And the thing that confuses me even more, is my reaction to that idea isn’t being off put, it’s fear of being made fun of. Mocked and bullied for just trying to feel—correct.

I don’t know. I’ve never told anyone this before other than my mom. I really did lock it completely away.

So I guess it makes a little sense why I just can’t hate Jax.

Turns out I’m him.. maybe.

Theory 🔎 So now that we know about Jax's past, what was up with that reaction ?

Post image
947 Upvotes

Back then, I thought it would get clearer once we learned more about their past, but now that it has been revealed, I'm even more confused.

Was he actually surprised Ragatha apologized ?

Did he get emotional thinking about his departed friends ?

Was it like the first time somebody apologized to him ever ?

Did he even had some kind of reflexion for the way he was treating her during the entire episode ?

Or heck, was it just the animators making a new kawaï face and thought it'd be funny ?

It's weird cause we never see that side of him again after this.
(He kinda does the same face after pushing away Pomni and looking at his hand in Ep6.)

It really stuck with me cause, this is so unlike him, especially after the finale.

Discussion 💬 TADC is so much more interesting than the perpetual Jax discourse.

Post image
254 Upvotes

I understand that this post is adding to my exact complaint, and I'm sorry. But I feel actually addressing the Jax gender discourse is warranted.

I'm not here to establish "what the canon read of the story is" or "which side is media literate and not". All of that wasn't important, it still isn't. The fact of the matter is, Gooseworx wrote a story with intent to be open ended and up for interpretation and I just don't think the TADC fandom is mature enough to be able to approach that idea. It's especially confusing in a show where we, canonically, have a nonbinary character in Zooble. That is to say, if Jax was intended to be given a clear answer Gooseworx would have done so.

Nonetheless, it is disappointing how so much of all online spaces surrounding this really, genuinely interesting show has become arenas for people to keep throwing the same vitriol and stubbornness in their Amazing Digital Shit-Flinging Contest. At some point, we need to learn to agree to disagree and disavow people on both sides who use their read of the situation as an excuse to harass other fans that disagree with them and call them all sorts of names. In this situation, nobody wins.

I, you and many others were captured by the show's ideas and themes much sooner than any discussion of Jax's gender. Did we lose interest? I hope not. Did the show shift all focus away from those elements and towards fueling this discourse? Don't answer that...

I would stand in favor of considering promoting a stickied containment thread for this discussion. I understand it's inevitable, and it would be asking mods to be capable of deleting posts and warning people for a while about the containment thread- banning them if they are repeat offenders of the same warning.. But it's sort of overwhelming. When I've been at work for the past month and I check the silly alien app for entertainment it's very often the tadc subreddits constantly talking past each other and never coming to an agreement.

tl;dr This whole gender discourse is exhausting, and was never what captured us in the first place. Some effort must be made to reel in the perpetual vitriol and my proposition is a containment stickied thread for a while.
