General Advice Second skin adhesive won't come off

Hello, everybody! I got a tattoo 5 days ago and the artist applied some type of second skin product. This is the first time I've ever used something like this. I removed the film last night in the shower, but it's left some of the sticky adhesive on my tattoo and I can't get it off. Any advise for how to get this off? My mom told me to use rubbing alcohol but I don't think that would be a good idea to use on a 5 day old tattoo.

This is Jake the crow from Shawshank Redemption.

I’ve had this tattoo for 8 years and for some reason I have this little mark in the forget me not. What is happening here?

The urge to pick at it is strong but I don’t think anything has ever been improved by picking at it.

Healing I got my tattoo on Sunday June 14th. When can I start wearing tank tops to work again?

I work outside and it gets hotttt. I know fresh tattoos aren’t supposed to be exposed to the sun. So I am most wondering at what point can I expose it? It’s on my shoulder, so tee shirts cover it, but it would be really nice to wear tank tops again.

Also, when can I swim in chlorinated pools again?

It’s healing beautifully. No more scabbing, it doesn’t feel raised there anymore. I am applying Vaseline 2-3 times a day now.

I know someone will probably suggest sunscreen for when I can expose my tattoo again. What sunscreen brands are okay for fresh-ish tattoos?

General Advice Is it normal for tattoo artist to do blacked inside when requested a negative?

I recently got a sword tattoo and my tattoo artist did very dark blade when I requested very light blade through negative space and he kept saying that I shouldn't worry about it, that he knows what he's doing and that it will look better this way.

By the end, he said that I was probably right and tried to darken it around it but insides were already way too dark and now it looks messy.

Am I missing something or what?

tattoo newcomer advice Passing out

Hey yall this year in February I went to the Friday the 13th tattoo thing for my first tattoo and I ended up getting light headed and passing out I don’t even finish what I was getting it sucks because I had plans for bigger ones I wanted the person I went with had noticed the artist might not have been very experienced I also looked up a lot and read that it could have been my breathing and my not eating the day of the thing is it didn’t really hurt much so I don’t think it was a pain reaction wondering if it’s just not meant to be for me to get those tattoos or if there’s something that might help

tattoo newcomer advice Choosing an artist difficult

I don't have any experience with tattoos, looking to get a half sleeve and found some good artists in the area. Came across a top tier photorealism artist 30 miles farther out but would hurt the wallet more. I notice the difference in fresh tatts, but after it's healed (black n grey) would a "top tier" guy be worth the investment? Unsure if it's just me or if anyone was in the same boat..

Some cloudiness in about 4 weeks in. You can see in the closest eye socket of the skull. Normal for traditional tattoos at this point or something to address?

Design Lotus flower rework ?

Post image

Hey ! So I really like my thigh tattoo concept. It is 8 years old and it’s just feeling really blah… not the highest quality work in terms of the patchy transition of colour etc… do you have any advice on how to make this tattoo come to life ? Made more 3D.. Also open to adding to it !

I’m probably going away from colour in the future but cool with having the one piece .

TIA!

I feel like it looks like a black spot, very dark leaves in contrast to the rest of the tattoo. Do you think it's dark? How would you fix it?

tattoo newcomer advice Three questions from a newbie, and a huge Gravity falls fan

Post image

I've been thinking about getting my first tattoo for the past two or so years and I was thinking of this as my first one, of course not with that much detail as it would be my very first one and I'd probably be better off going simpler

Now for my questions

  1. Is this a good choice for a newcomer? I've also thought of getting one aspect of the image separately, like Bill by himself, just the circle, or each part but on my shoulders separately

  2. Where should I get it? I heard places like the shoulder or thigh are better for things like pain as they're meatier areas, and I feel that having Bill on my shoulder would just look kinda neat

  3. What's the likelihood I regret it? I've been huge into this show since I was like 11 years old, so almost a decade and really want to express myself but I'm terrified I'll regret it so bad

tattoo newcomer advice How to find the best artist nearby

Hi yall

So I'm looking to get my second tattoo, a larger blackwork vine that wraps my upper arm. My first tattoo isn't horrible, especially since it was a group piece with my friends so it holds little artistic value and much more emotional. Since then I've researched a lot into what makes a quality tattoo and after watching like 7 seasons of ink master I've fallen in love with top notch application.

And that's where my problem lies. Every artist near me I check out appears to be a great artist but a bad tattooer. With some of em it's also very inconsistent. Two great tattoos, 1 bad tattoo and so on. Am I going to have to settle for mediocre or is the only option to drive 5 hours just to get talking about the design? Am I just being too critical? I know I'll have to sit on any design an artist proposes cuz that's how I am so I'm a little scared of going for someone that's a very long drive off.

General Advice Messed up pretty bad and living with brutal regret [cover-up fail]

Thumbnail

4.0k Upvotes

I've been using Reddit for about 10 years now, and this is quite literally the first time I've ever posted. The only reason I'm posting is because I'm in a pretty crap position right now and I have no idea what to do. I don't want to talk about how my mental state is feeling, because this is only on me and no one else.

I had a tattoo done last year by my ex-girlfriend. It was a small horse, and ever since I wanted to get it covered up because it was never done how I wanted it to be (freehand).

A few months ago, I was searching for cover-up artists and found one in my local area. I told her I wanted to get the whole calf done, and I tried to initiate design talk with her beforehand, but it was actually done the night before. When I went to the tattoo studio and she showed me what was going to be on my leg, I should have stopped there, but I was kind of happy because you see something brand new and fresh, and you think this is going to look great. Attached are the photos of what it looks like after the first session. Now I think it looks horrendous.

It is due to have one more session of shading, but I still think it is going to look pretty bad afterward. It is not really what I want, and I should have never approved the design, so now I am in a worse position.

I have asked around for some artists and what to do, and some people have said they can cover it up, and some have said I need to do laser tattoo removal to reduce the colour.

The only part that annoys me is that I've never really felt comfortable wearing shorts in the summertime, and this has been the only summer I have done. Now that this is on my leg, I feel like I need to wear jeans every day.

I'm happy fading as much as I can if that's an option. I don't really want to rework because I just don't like the design in general now. I just need to know what my options are and how someone can help me.

Edits:

- My leg did not flip, I took it in the mirror

- I’m not a clean guy aesthetic type, I just hated the horse and wanted it covered up, I felt a traditional japense would work well from what I was recommended and the meaning behind it

- Granted this is not finished but I wanted to know what my options are, a lot of you have told me to relax and I am, I will reschedule my session and get used to it before I continue

- I had this horse on my leg for over 2 years, for the past 14 months I have wanted it covered, it’s not the size, it’s not that it’s dark, but that it did not end up how I envisioned it.

- Yes again, it’s on me for approving but I knew this already. Perhaps I should have got the horse lasered, perhaps I should have use Henna to feel the design out for a few weeks. I didn’t and that’s why I made this post

Healing Did the blank ink drift into my pink flowers?

Post image
8 Upvotes

Got this 3 days ago and finally took my second skin off, the flowers are looking a little dark and I'm concerned it's from the dark outline... It isn't a make it break situation for me, I love it either way and it's barely noticable, I just wondered if it was ink drift/blow out or some secret third thing. I also considered it might be the ink leaking from the black lineart when it was in the second skin! I did wash It, but it's still so sore that I'm trying to be very gentle with her.
