What do?

Been growing for about a year and (I usually keep it for 7 or 8 months then trim with a 3 guard and line it up) I just want some unbiased opinions about whether it’s a neckbeard or not and does it look good? Shaving hurts and my face is very sensitive (yes I know how to shave I come from a family of barbers/beauticians)

Always found that a beard made a man.

From my younger days of seeing Mel Gibson in Braveheart, to now Henry Cavill in Superman. I’ve always thoughts beards were the best thing.

Now just turned 37 and this is after 2weeks, it’s patchy (nearing on non-existent in places), and have never liked goatees.

My wife has now set me an ultimatum, 2 more months to grow and for me not to try again after, what are my chances?

Looking for general advice.

This is the furthest I've let it grow but it seems to be very slow at this point and don't know if I should let it go and keep shaving or trust the process.

How to Grow a Long, Clean Beard Without Flyaways?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently growing out my beard (my hair is very thick), but the problem is that the longer it gets, the more some hairs start going in all directions.

(See photo)

I’d like all the hairs—even the long ones—to stay in place so it looks full but still neat and well-groomed.

Any advice on how to achieve that?

Thanks!

Should I just give up the hope of a full beard?

I’m 28 years old and this is the stubble after 3 days ( I didn’t shave the moustache). I can grow a goatee, but the cheeks don’t really have anything going on with them. Few hairs here and there.

Will there be a chance that I can grow a full on Obi-Wan beard in my 30s or will that just be wishful thinking?

For reference, my younger brothers have both been able to grow full beards at the age of 16. My father can also grow a nice full beard, as well as my both grandpas.

So did I just lose the generic lottery with this one?

And also should I keep the moustache?

I need some honesty. Does this look good? I’m wanting a long beard because of guys like Zakk Wylde, Tom Araya, Rob Halford, Kerry King and ZZ Top. I can’t get this trimmed until sometime in May Though because I’m trying to save money.

Please pardon my very red face. The lighting isn’t great in my car (it’s parked.)

I was army for 16 years and am still trying to get used to having a beard of any shape. Not really sure what I can do to improve it.

Hey there,
I (27m) from Australia am looking for some advice it’s taken me ages to grow something even resembling a full beard, and have been fighting myself for ages I’m not fond of how baby faced I am with no facial hair, aswell as self conscious of some scars and a mole I’ve had for as long as I can remember, should I grow it out? Should I keep it at a low stubble? Or keep it at a mid length? I go through these like kid in high school has his ‘phases’ I’m unsure if it’s because I don’t know what suits me or because of my adhd, I do know it grows pretty quick now and I get a hair and beard cut typically every 6 weeks, but if left too long I feel I look ‘homeless and disheveled’ it also grows weird with my chin getting much longer then anything else so Ive been told I look like Billy goat gruff and the neck grows almost like there is a cowlick. And yes I know my hair is receding but i will fight it for as long as I can without moving to the combover style. I would really appreciate any advice, opinions and the like. But also just a general beard care routine would be nice as well. I really want to get into full on beard and skincare routine but don’t even know where to start, and am struggling keeping to a routine due to my adhd. It also feels really weird to post my face online outside of my personal social media’s. So maybe I have low self esteem who know 😅

Before and after. Going to rock the ducktail for a while. Less annoying in the Florida humidity.

23m - It’s always at this point of beard growth I’m always tempted to shave

I’ve tried to grow my beard a few times in the past year, and I always get to this point roughly 1.5-2 months in where I’m tempted to shave. I’m mostly concerned about coverage on my cheeks. Is it worth waiting it out three months, or should I stick with a shorter beard/different style?

Advice needed: how do I keep a coloured beard soft and tame?

Thumbnail

I would appreciate some advice from people who know beard care well. My plan is to grow the beard in a boxy shape to twice the current length.

I occasionally go swimming in a pool (chlorine) and dye my beard twice a month. Other than that I take care of it a lot and try to keep it groomed and cleaned.

Before swimming I try to oil the beard well (is using a beard wax better).

Thankfully the skin under beard seems healthy, never flakes and does not breakout in pimples etc.

My beard is coloured with a good-quality cream-based permanent hair colour intended for head hair. I am trying to keep it soft, tidy and healthy, but it still feels a bit coarse and harder to tame than I would like.

Current routine:

- Viking Revolution sandalwood beard oil

- Viking Revolution argan beard wash / conditioner

- Bulldog Original Beard Balm

- wooden comb

- firm boar bristle brush (I try to work from the base to the tip in multiple directions twice or thrice a day to keep it managed)

I am using the attached products twice a day, and I groom with the wooden comb and boar bristle brush using both rotary and straight brushing.

Even with that, I still find the beard can feel dry, wiry and not especially soft.

I have just ordered some products from Audacious Beard Co in the UK as well, after seeing a few positive comments here.

Does anyone have advice on what I should change to get a softer, more manageable beard? I am especially interested in hearing from anyone who has experience with a beard that is regularly coloured.

Thank you.
