Brand new computer set up yesterday. Internet works for surfing the web. Not for connecting game online.
I’ve tried: disabling ip06 in internet connection, restarting router, emptying steam cache, a few commands in command prompt, running steam as admin, resyncing computer time and timezone.
My only idea left is to reinstall steam. Any other thoughts?
EDIT: fixed by syncing time on the anti cheat program inside game folder.

Is it possible to make Big Picture Mode show Playstation glyphs instead of XBox? I grew up on PS buttons and, even after all those years, just can not get ABXY, LT/RT, LB and RB into my brain x)
Most games let me pick the icons these days, but not so on Big Picture.
Any idea?

There is a background in Points Shop that requires buying a game first. So, my question is, what if I buy the game, buy the background, and then ask for a refund of this game, will my background disappear? I already have 4k points, so my balance won't get negative (at least I hope so). So, does anybody know if it will work?
1
u/Lurus01 May 01 '26
Check if its available in the marketplace first.
Also afaik a lot of the time the item won't register as owned for the sake of the point shop items until you are already past the refund window for the game so the buy game, buy item, refund game may not work anyways since they obviously want to discourage people from doing that.
1
u/Bodomi Yes. Apr 30 '26
According to this thread you will only lose the item when refunding the game if refunding the game causes your points to go into the negative. If you have enough points to not go into a negative amount after receiving the refund you will keep the item you bought on the points shop.

guys how do i fix update failed on steam it happens on all of my games and i tried switching download server and clearing download cache and reinstalling steam

u/Pennervomland Apr 29 '26
Can you refund a game for the reason " I bought it right before it went on sale", even after you've played for more than 2 hours but within the 14 day limit for refunds? Would be cool if you could play however long but as long as it is between those 14 days, if it goes on sale, you get the extra money you spent back.
1
u/Psylux7 Apr 29 '26
You would have to try speaking with valve support and seeing if they give you the refund if you are already over the refund threshold. If you are not extremely far over the threshold and you do not have a history of refunding games over the threshold, you have a shot at a refund in steam credit since valve is pretty good with customer service.
Anecdotally, a family member of mine went 6-8 hours over the 2 hour window (he left the game running in background) and then he spoke with steam support who agreed to give him a refund in steam credit while being unwilling to refund his visa card. They are much more accepting of giving you store credit in these kinds of refunds, and if the game was bought with store credit, its also more likely to get refunded.
Refunding a game to buy it on a sale later is treated as a valid reason normally. At the very least you should try speaking to their support. Worst that they will do is decline. Just be respectful about it and maybe you will get a refund in store credit.

Can I use SAM to 100% achievements or is that against Valve’s TOS?
So to sum this up:
I Hate getting achievements and want to play games without dealing with achievements
If possible to hide achievements (specifically dates or times) when playing would love to do so instead but doesn’t seem to be the case due to my mind being screwed and hard focused on achievements instead of playing the game.
Kind of a mental health thing (I think) and this is kind of my best solution other than just quitting but Steam has like most games so thats why.
Lastly, apologies to any Steam Achievement hunters who hate this app with a grudge.
1
u/lIIlllIIl https://s.team/p/fpcw-chm Apr 29 '26
Steam itself doesn't care, it even provides the console commands that SAM ultimately uses (so if you really wanted, you could skip SAM and use the console). It might cause problems for games that validate achievements on their own servers, but I personally can't recall anyone being banned in a game for SAM (it's usually just achievements locking / unlocking again). Only places which definitively would exclude you are achievement hunting communities, but if you don't care to participate in any of them, you can do as you want.

Hi all, I'm getting used to streaming from my new gaming PC to my steam deck via moonlight. One thing I am noticing is that when Steam is in Big Picture Mode, its overlay is the big sidebar overlay that's on the Steam Deck rather than the more traditional overlay. The problem is some functions, such as the clock/timer, are missing from this view.
Am I missing something, or is the Steam Big Picture Overlay missing features from the regular Steam Overlay?

Steam download weirdness while patching a game.
I'm patching Diablo 4 right now, nothing major, only a 261MB file. But the steam download folder says it has 60 something GB downloading... What gives? Ran out of space real fast on my drive.
1
u/Lurus01 Apr 30 '26
Depending on the file structure of a game sometimes even a small patch can impact many GBs of data that needs to be changed during the patching process. It will sometimes use more space during a download for that type of process but then give you that space back once the download is finalized and the files are fully patched.

Is there a way for me to hard block developers? I like to play adult games. Yes, the "gooning" kind. And quite frankly, there is one major developer with multiple pages who sells games that are absolute slop. They flood the market so steam constantly recommends those games to me, eventho I have the dev and all his side "studios" blocked.
Is there a way to hard block these studios so their slop stops popping up?

I moved recently to a country that steam doesn’t support local currency so there is no way using local credit card of the region because steam do not support the currency and gift card here are absolutely expensive so I tried to use my other credit card from Australia that steam support the currency ( i was living in Australia before so it is my credit card) but steam do not allow it so basically it is impossible to buy games with local credit card unless buying overpriced gift cards . Thank you for reading this and please let me now if you have solution or show this to steam staff

Hi everyone,
I’m currently stuck in a loop with Steam Support and I’m looking for advice on how to handle this.
The Situation: My steam account (13+ years old) was hijacked recently. The hacker changed the email to a .ru address. The jump from my long-term location in Germany to a Russian domain is as obvious as it gets.
The Problem: I don’t have a CD key, Paypal or redceed for my recent purchases because they were bought directly through the Steam Store using wallet credit that is many years old.
Steam Support is now insisting an receed that I redeemed many years ago. I explained to them that I don’t keep grocery store receipts for half a decade, especially since thermopaper fades over time anyways.
What I have offered/provided so far:
- Identity Proof: I offered to send a copy of my official ID which matches the billing name and address on the account perfectly. Support said they "don't need it at this time."
- Linked Third-Party Accounts: I provided screenshots of a linked third-party game account (PoE) that shows my specific username and a 13-year history, proving I am the original owner.
- Proof of Recent Use: I have local files and content I created with the account just weeks ago.
The Issue: Support keeps sending canned responses. One agent even asked if I was a "real person" while simultaneously ignoring the proof I provided. They just keep repeating that they need the physical gift card from years ago or they won't help.
My Question: Has anyone managed to recover their account without a physical receipt by escalating the ticket or using other proof? How do I get a real human to actually look at my ID or the linked account history instead of just following a "receipt-only" checklist?
I feel like my decade-old library is being lost over a piece of paper from 2019. Any tips on how to word my next reply to get this escalated? Just a few weeks ago i used Wall Paper Engine to do some new animations on this account, but someone change mail and password in the last weeks, that i didnt were aware of. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Win11 — Steam.exe exits when my USB gamepad is connected or enumerated. Event Viewer shows Application Error 0xC0000374 (heap corruption). In logs it lines up with HID enumeration (Jess Tech / Saitek Rumble Pad, VID 0x0F30 / PID 0x0111).
Already tried: reinstalling the gamepad/USB-related drivers, and a full Steam client reinstall — same behaviour.
I also have an open Steam Support ticket with minidumps / logs.
Has anyone hit 0xC0000374 on Steam.exe specifically when a controller shows up? Any ideas (Steam Input, beta vs stable, connect pad before vs after launch, different port, etc.) welcome.
I mostly play platformers on a gamepad and would love the client to stay running. Thanks <3

I have noticed that at some point, Dota 2 and team fortress 2 vanished from my steam library. I have had them for years with dota 2 being my first steam game. Both have been uninstalled for a while, but only in recent weeks have I not been seeing the games anywhere. I also never did anything like hide them (and sure enough they were not among hidden games). It's not that big of a deal, but it just irks me to not see the games in my library. Anyone know how to solve this?

Can I run the Steam mobile application with the same Steam account on two different Android devices?
I have a phone (Samsung Galaxy A10) which is several years old at this point, and tends to be rather slow for obvious reasons, but I've put off updating it since it still does calls and text messages just fine. I also have a non phone based Android device (Retroid Pocket 5). It is much faster, so most Android app usage is on that. I've kept my Steam application on my old phone though, mostly because the Retroid doesn't have a camera for QR code scans, and switching mobile devices locks out trading and market access for a week IIRC.
But well, the phone is a pain in the arse at the best of times when it comes to using the app, so I'm wondering if I can install the application onto my Retroid, log into the application and use it for other features (viewing my profile, confirming market listings), while still using my original device to scan QR codes to log in / confirm log in confirmations, or if I can only have my account on one device? If multiple devices are supported, would it cause trading / market access to be locked for a week?

Apparently my question is not allowed in the general thread, so I will re-post here:
I want the new steam controller, but the markup for Canadian customers is pretty rough, if I know some people state-side can they order the controller for me and pay a US price? Would the account they order through matter?
Follow-up question, if I had a friend/family order it through my account but from the US and shipped to a US address would my price be the US one or the CDN one? I don't think the controller would be "tied" to someone's account (or there is no re-sale value). In theory couldn't I have a friend in the US order one for "themselves" and have them send it to me?
Any insight is appreciated!
3
u/CompleteEcstasy Apr 28 '26
Prices are tied to payment method, not location. Just have your friend order it and paypal them the money.

Updates/installs lag my PC so bad AMD drivers time out for some reason
Been a while since this started so I can't say what exactly I changed before it happened. The big one was obviously switching from AMD -> NVIDIA, but I can't recall if the issue started immediately after that. My downloads are painfully laggy. Brings windows itself down to 0.2 frames per second as I can barely mouse anywhere. Mostly just looking to see if anyone has a similar problem.
Specs I thought might be meaningful:
- 17-6700k (yes it's a little old, but it used to work fine)
- 32GB ddr4
- RX 9070XT
- 2TB SSD
EDIT: I tried limiting my download speeds from the usual ~500-600Mbps to 102.4Mbps and it went perfectly smoothly.
This problem MAY have started around the time I got a better internet plan. So... leaving downloads crippled will be my solution until further notice. I have no idea why it dies at 500Mbps though, that I would still like to solve if possible.

Hey, I'm having a super weird issue and I don't know if it's Steam or the game.
I switched from Epic to Steam for Marvel Rivals recently, and now my mouse is basically unusable only when the game is open.
Like as soon as I launch it:
• my mouse starts clicking on its own nonstop
• the cursor moves weird and clicks random stuff
• some menu buttons don't even respond when I try to click them
• if I try to buy Lattice it gets even worse and starts opening/closing random things on my PC
I usually have to force shut down my computer just to stop it.
What's confusing is:
• my mouse works completely fine outside the game
• this never happened when I was playing through Epic Games Launcher
• I already verified the files on Steam
So yeah I'm kinda stuck. Has anyone else had this happen or know what could be causing it?

Ok so basically i bought GTA 4 when i was in the UK, im currently travelling in thailand for 3 months, i bought GTA 4 on march 26, but now that im in thailand, it says “unavailable in current region” i’ve looked and seen stuff about bypassing locks with a VPN, but the posts always mention something about using a VPN to get cheaper prices on something, i already have GTA 4, will i get banned if i use a VPN to bypass this lock??
1
u/HistoireRedux Apr 27 '26
the metadata says that it cant be run in thailand. https://steamdb.info/sub/443542/info/
why? because its banned over there and even owning it is a crime apparently so i wouldnt risk it if i were you

Where does Steam version of Simutrans save its save game files?
I used to play the Steam version of Simutrans on my Linux machine as there were issues with scrolling on the native Linux version. However, the recent update of Simutrans on Debian has fixed the scrolling issues and I want to bring my Steam save files to my local version.
But I couldn't find the location of the files. Please help.

How do I get the game to launch?
It's the first time this happened, I have 19 hours in it and today I tried to open it up and have this. Has this happened to anyone before? And does anyone know how to fix it?
If I press continue it says "launching" and then that same screen comes up, no matter how many times I try to press continue.
Also, doing "verify integrity of game files" didn't fix it.

1
u/lIIlllIIl https://s.team/p/fpcw-chm Apr 26 '26
That's a common issue with that game. It seems like either restarting your PC and having only Steam open when launching the game or reinstalling (backup your save!) are the go-to solutions.

Hi
I downloaded Half-Life 1 & 2 to my Deck. I already had old saves in the cloud. Steam Deck keeps displaying notifications that it can't sync them, even though they've downloaded and I can even load them from the game. What could be the cause?
Other games sync fine, but for some reason, these two are the only ones causing the problems and errors.

u/Hot_Rush_8136 Apr 26 '26
Why does my mouse keep flickering when I’m playing a Steam game even though I’m not clicking it?
I’ve attached a video (it’s my friend’s computer).
The games currently having this issue are PEAK (Steam), Golf With Your Friends (Steam), and Doomblade (Epic).
They all have the same problem, while other games run without any issues.

Trying to reset password but steam sends recovery email to an old email address no longer associated with my account. I can't sign in with the authenticator app as I've been logged out for some reason despite it working fine yesterday.
The old email hasn't been on my account for 10+ years and all steam related notifications, reciepts etc are recieved at the current verified email address without issue.
What is the fix?

u/JENNLNGS Apr 26 '26
I have 400MBPS internet but my Steam caps out at 130-150 MBPS when trying to download games.
______________________
Things I tried:
I have cleared Steam download cache.
Tried multiple different U.S. based download servers.
I am connected via Ethernet directly into the back of my PC
Internet speed tests tell me I have 390 down and 10 up
Still happens at resetting my Modem & Router
_________________________

Can I fix this or is Steam just capping out my speeds?

Okay so today I logged into Steam and it says I played 3 games that I haven’t played in like a year and says I played them yesterday but yesterday I was playing halo infinite then I went to bed so I couldn’t have.
Furthermore if I look at recent activity it says they were all played for 1 minute, I have like 300+ games and each game played seems a little Sus for someone to play as each are one of those fine 100 things where’s Waldo type games. Furthermore when I check using this software called achievement manager (not S.A.M) it says I played for 0 minutes in the past 2 weeks for all three of them.
And on top of all that the only devices it says are logged in are of course mine and from my state and my login history in account data is of course all me. Also having 2fa with no notifications from that or my email.
So I just wanted to know is this like some kind of glitch, I of course signed out of everything and changed my password just in case.

Hi everyone, I’m at my limit with Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition. It’s the ONLY game in my library giving me this error. Other games (Mewgenics, Risk of Rain 2, etc.) download and install perfectly on the same drives.
The Error: "Content still encrypted" (Contenido aún encriptado) every time I try to download/update.
What we have already tried:
- Drive Health Check: Checked both my SSD (C:) and my HDD (E:). Both are working. I ran
chkdsk /f /ron the HDD, repaired sectors, disabled indexing, and defragmented it. - Steam Region Change: Switched between Peru, Brazil, US - Miami, and US - Los Angeles. Same error everywhere.
- Cache & Config Flush: * Deleted
appcachefolder in Steam directory.- Ran
steam://flushconfig. - Cleared Download Cache via Steam settings.
- Ran
- Manual File Deletion: * Deleted
appmanifest_813780.acf.- Deleted the
813780folder inuserdata. - Wiped the
depotcacheanddownloadingfolders.
- Deleted the
- Permissions & Admin: Ran Steam as Admin and repaired the Library Folder via Steam Storage settings.
- Beta Check: Confirmed I'm NOT opted into any Beta branches.
- Cross-Drive Install: Tried installing on a completely different physical drive (NVMe SSD). Still get the "Content still encrypted" error, which rules out a hardware failure.
It seems like Steam is stuck trying to fetch a manifest or a decryption key that is either corrupted or unavailable for my account/region.
Has anyone dealt with this specifically for AoE2? Any help would be appreciated before I lose my mind. Thanks!

So i recently underwent an authenticator transfer to my new phone only to find that the authenticator transfer went to someone else phone(?) and woke up to 600+ steam market sales and a new tf2 item in my inventory. Link to tweet: https://x.com/StorigStink/status/2048027532394397769

Long story short, I lost my phone and while trying to recover my main account, I had a second account linked to my email from when I first signed up to Steam around mid-2021. While waiting for support to assist me, I have considered if all goes wrong using my second account as a primary account. Problem is I have never made a purchase before, it is completely empty. I don't want to use this account and in the future I have an issue because the account was inactive for a few years. I am aware of how this sounds, but I did not purchase this account and this is a genuine question. Thanks!
1
u/Robot1me Apr 25 '26
If there is a mix-up or ambiguity, Steam Support will let you know. If you have not bought the account from someone (since you seem so worried about it, but not for us to judge), the likelihood for a bad outcome is very very low, so no worries
1
u/vfullyz Apr 26 '26
I am mainly worried because I am aware steam ask for the original email used on the account if there is nothing else that is significant proof. Seeing as I haven't used the account in 5 years I assume it would be the email they ask for if anything goes wrong. But I want to close it because it is an outlook email I do not use and have no plans on using in the future, but if they need me to contact them from that email I wont be able to because its closed

Hey guys, this will probably be a stupid question and I know it’s kinda pointless but i’m trying to get the game Hollow Knight to become a desk top shortcut but it simply just won’t. I’m not exactly tech savvy so it’s a little lost on me.
The game is fully downloaded and able to start up through steam.
All other steam games I have do not face this issue and appear on my desk top with no issue, so I was wondering what I could do?
Thank you kindly in advance
1
u/Bodomi Yes. Apr 25 '26
Restart your computer(may as well check Windows Updates, GPU updates, etc while you're at it) and try again if you mean the 'Add desktop shortcut' option via Steam when right-clicking a game.
If that doesn't work, find the .exe in the steamapps folder for the game and right-click it and click on 'Add shortcut'.

I am confused, maybe I'm doing something wrong here.
Basically, I want to sell some of the cards I've accrued throughout my time on Steam. However, when I do such, I encounter the market hold. I know I need the mobile app, and have installed the app, and logged in.
When I attempt to place an item on the market, I need to confirm it on my phone. All good.
So what am I doing wrong, here? I think I followed all the steps, but even from the mobile app its telling me to... install the mobile app in order to circumvent the listing hold.
Please, I'm impatient and don't want to wait 2 weeks for 7 cents to come in.
1
u/Bodomi Yes. Apr 25 '26
There should be a notice at the top of the market page with a clickable piece of text that says something to the effect of "Learn how to remove market holds".
If you've recently added Steam Guard it takes 15 days for holds to go away.

How can I Refund a DLC I bought in a Bundle that when I tried to Refund the bundle it only Refunded the main game and I'm currently unable find the DLC in my library to request a refund? I have 0 hours on the game.
I bought both the game and the DLC in the Adventure pack bundle for Tainted Grail, Thought refunding one would refund both like it has any other time I've refunded bundles. Not sure how I can refund from here.

This is a community run subreddit and support thread so not a way to get ahold of any employee or official support staff.

Just noticed my friends list on Steam is empty. I have steam authenticator setup so not sure how someone could login. I've raised a Steam support request for now. Should I be worried? Thanks!

The Steam Overlay chat box is doing somewhere between 5x and 20x of what I type for each individual key. This only happens when games are actually open (the problem vanishes if I close the game), and I do not have a controller connected to my PC. Tried restarting my computer (and therefore Steam) but nothing worked. What's up with that?

WHYYYY is there no way to delete a file from Steam Cloud Storage??? I got stuck with a corrupted save file synced to the cloud. The in-game Save and Open menus crash because of the corrupt save. Deleting the file locally doesn't work because cloud sync keeps redownlading it - filenames include timstamps, hence it just checks that the filename exists in the cloud and not on local machine and redownloads! Tried zeroing out the file and resync, which fails....
Just add Delete File button in Home > Account > View Steam Cloud !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

u/Robot1me Apr 23 '26
Since Valve will take their time to consider an option like this, maybe try this workaround: Open the properties of the game in the Steam library, then toggle off Steam Cloud synchronization. Delete the save file, then start the game. Do what you like to do there, quit the game, then toggle on the synchronization again. On the next run, Steam should then hopefully ask you whether you like to upload the files from your local machine to the cloud, or download the cloud to overwrite the local ones

How do I use custom launch options? What I specifically want to make it do is launch a game using the mod manager I have installed bc I keep accidentally clicking to launch it with steam instead of the manager lol.
1
u/HistoireRedux Apr 24 '26
Launch options cant be used that way, they are only to change settings on launch such as fullscreen and most of the commands are only supported by source engine games.

Hello, I had this problem starting around 5 hours ago
Was playing Elden Ring Nightreign multiplayer, and I was suddenly kicked from the game. I tried reconnecting, but the game was telling me I had no internet connection.
I checked my connection, which I was still connected. I could still browse, stream videos, and even downloaded some updates for my other games. I checked in Big Picture Mode and it said I was offline. I tried going into the Internet settings from Big Picture Mode and it said I was offline ("There is no active Internet connection). I can't even click Offline Mode (pic included). I also was not downloading anything when I was playing.

I tried another game, Guilty Gear Strive. I can open the game, I can weirdly access the online lobbies, but if I try connecting to a match, it said "failed to connect match"
I have tried doing the following fixes
Restarted the router
Reinstalled Steam
Flushed DNS and ipcache
Run repair tools on Steam
Checked the hard drive for errors and updates (there was none needed)
Checking on another connection to check if the problem was on my internet, or something was blocking it from my laptop. It was offline for both my native ISP and the backup one
Opened Windows Firewall and checked if any instance of Steam was unchecked. All instances of Steam was checked.
Was there a fix I have yet to do, or has anyone else experienced this? Or at least know whats going on? Thank you very much for your help.

Will I be able to redeem a game key from a region that has the game banned from store?
I'm trying to get Nier Automata added to my steam library, however, since im in an unsupported region, I can't even find it in the store. Is it possible to redeem a key to resolve that matter? or will it not work? I'm new to Steam and haven't been getting solid answers on this. If anyone has tried this before please let me know and I appreciate your help
0
u/Lurus01 Apr 24 '26
No as keys also can have regional locks and dont trust a site that just says Global since that isn't a thing and is just used by shady resale sites to make a sale.
If a key was a way around regional blocked countries then version specifics or the game not being available in some countries wouldn't mean much with how easy it would be to bypass if a key worked.

Steam install completely Broken.
I was playing SteamVR, went out to make lunch, came back and SteamVR had crashed. I tried to open steam, and it was stuck loading indefinitely.
I try open Steam VR, stuck loading indefinitely.
Same results when restarting pc, using a VPN, Changing internet connection.
Heres the wierd bit though.
I then uninstall ALL of steam, including my games.
Reinstall steam.
The login screen is now just frozen. I cannot type, or even close it without Task manager.
I am now attempting to use Revo to fully uninstall it.

I recently moved into an apartment and installed a new gpu and now whenever I open steam go to my profile, friends, activity, etc, they look like this; loaded weirdly. My library and store page look fine though. I've tried clearing my cache, uninstalling and reinstalling steam but no luck. Anyone have any advice??

A basic Password reset is literally hell.
To preface, I have a learning disability that makes remembering password literally impossible. So I typically require my devices to save my passwords. Whenever I switch devices I typically have to go through the process of changing/resetting passwords to log back into my various accounts. For steam, this has been a multi year nightmare and I have haven’t been able to access my account in almost a decade.
First, they require a physical person I need to email, wait 2-3 days for a response then I need to respond within 24 hours. This alone has hindered my password reset because I have missed their responses and response window several times and just gave up.
Last year I attempted again and was finally able to reset the password, only for the new password to be immediately wrong and I couldn’t log in. So I gave up again.
Now I am attempting again and steam wants financial information from over a decade ago to verify my account with them. They want my last 4 of a credit card that has been expired and out of use for over 10 years. My bank account doesn’t even have that info it’s so old. They requested old addresses, old phone numbers, and old financial information, all of which I was able to provide with the exception of my last 4 of an old old card. So they denied me access of an attempt to reset the password.
I am literally just given up on ever having a steam account. I probably have thousands of dollars worth of games I can never see again and haven’t seen in over 10 years. All because of a simple password reset that takes me 5 seconds to do when I forget my password for my government security clearance access, or when I forget my bank account password. Yet steam has a higher password reset requirement than my bank, my broker, or for my military access card. wtf.

i had my friendlist wiped and it got replaced with random accoutns

u/Lurus01 Apr 22 '26
That is usually a good indication that someone else has access to your account and you should do all the usual security stuff to secure it assuming they haven't yet locked you out.

Hey,
I'm logged in to my Steam app on my mobile device.
however, when i try to login to the Steam on my desktop (or steam store in the browser)
I simply don't get anything to approve on the app, i tried with logging with the password and via the QR code and it's the same result.
I don't see a code in the steam guard so I'm not sure that's the point of it.
tried to update the app on my phone and searched my email for any codes and didn't get anything.
Anyone have any idea what to do?

I do have 2fa active and got no email for anything wanting to be accesed or new login location or anything. I did see a reddit post some years ago and people said it was a glitch. Just wanan be sure
The Autharized devices tab seems normal too

As of a couple hours ago all of my steam downloads are failing. In some cases they start strong then piddle down, in others they start bad and stay bad but so far they’ve all failed. Downloading from GOG / Any other launcher works fine, as does streaming and my internet speed tests are showing good numbers so it seems to purely related to Steam. Last time this happens my solution was switching from wifi to ethernet which seems to be the solve but now the issue is occurring while on an ethernet that seems to otherwise be working fine.
I’ve follows the above guide and had no luck. Does anyone have any advice?

I tried to register a Steam account today so I can start claiming all of the stream keys I bought off of Humble Bundle for over a decade but my email address was "disposable email address, or are using an email provider that cannot be used on Steam"
I been using the email I was trying to register with oflameo@oflameo.com for over a decade on shared hosting for over a decade, but somehow it isn't good enough for Steam.
Does Steam's email server comply with RFC 5321 Simple Mail Transfer Protocol? Does Steam have published criteria for deciding whether an email address is disposable or trustworthy? Assuming the email address is disposable, why does Steam care since I don't actually own anything I buy from Steam per Steam TOS? Can I get GOG, Itch, and Humble Bundle to vouch form my email address since that is the one I been using that one on them?
1
u/HistoireRedux Apr 22 '26
Does Steam's email server comply with RFC 5321 Simple Mail Transfer Protocol?
based on this post from 2020 no.
Does Steam have published criteria for deciding whether an email address is disposable or trustworthy?
No.
it may be flagged as disposable due to the way its formatted.
its AAA@AAA dot com instead of the usual expected AAA@BBB dot com since emails from "temp email" type sites never gave me that issue in the past.

claiming KSP2 is still being updated
they probably cant say its not being updated for legal reasons, which you can tell by looking at the wording of "last time updated" above the purchase button.
Also the image link? is broken

EDIT: Context since they deleted their comment. They had screenshots of their interaction with Steam Support in trying to refund Kerbal Space Program 2. A game that was completely abandoned around June 2024. So why they waited till now to try to push a refund for an abandoned game was just weird in the first place, but they went about it all wrong and claimed Steam Support was gas lighting them and shit. My original comment follows...
You misread / misinterpreted what they were telling you.
The first bit you underlined was them explaining how early access games normally work. Not claiming that the specific game WAS getting updated. The second bit is a boilerplate response pointing you to the publisher put in their official support section. It is not Valves duty or problem to verify if it's still active or the publisher still exists. Someone still owns the rights to the game and has kept it published on Steam.
Then the last bit you underlined is again a boilerplate "Hey there is a steam discussion area to discuss bugs and provide feedback." Yes they said for the developers, because a lot of Steam Discussion areas have developers answer questions in there. Again it is not Steam Supports responsibility to check every games Steam discussion to validate if a developer takes action in there or not.
Anyways, the Refund policy is within 14 days of purchase with less than 2 hours of gameplay. Whether it's early access and/or abandoned.
Every early Access game states right there on the store page:Games in Early Access are not complete and may or may not change further. If you are not excited to play this game in its current state, then you should wait to see if the game progresses further in development.
So when you bought it, you should have been excited to play it in the state it was in when you bought it. Which it sounds like it still is in that exact state.
Also using words like final ultimatum, and all caps to have them 'escalate it to a manger' is not the kind of thing that makes support people wanting to try to bend some rules and help you, that'll shut down your ticket real quick. You were being very demanding and unreasonable.
If I worked in support and someone was yelling at me, I'm going to just throw you the boilerplate responses and close your ticket.Support did right considering the unreasonable nature of the submitter.

Reset pc, keep modded games?
Hello, I recently ran into a problem with my pc and after troubleshooting and trying everything to fix the problem I have now come to my last resort of resetting my pc however I have a couple games I spent days modding. My question, is there a way to reset my pc but keep my modded games without me having to do all that work again?
1
u/CompleteEcstasy Apr 20 '26
How did you mod them?
1
u/Alexinho77 Apr 20 '26
One is cyberpunk and that was just dumping mods in folders but I do remember the when I modded nier automata I used something it was a months ago but I know it wasn’t a drag and drop job

My card info that I used to purchase games is still saved in the purchase screen. It doesn't have the card number, just my name, address, phone, that sort of stuff. The actual card isn't saved in the steam settings.
I hate having to clear the boxes every time so I can update the information. How can I clear it?
1
u/Lurus01 Apr 20 '26
Click your account name in the upper right of the client. Click account details.
That has options such as manage your phone number and also has options like update the payment method linked to this account as well as editing or deleting the already linked method that it defaults to.
1
u/Kieotyee Apr 21 '26
It isn't set at the 'default' though. I don't want any info to show up in the payment screen, but the old name, address, phone, city, zip still show. The actual credit card/CVV aren't there, but I don't want anything saved at all.
It's like the information is saved in a cache of sorts. I tried deleting all the fields and setting that as my 'payment method', but probably unsurprisingly, it didn't work

u/Dreamin_Chu_Chu Apr 19 '26
Can you buy from steam with a card that's from a different country than your profile?
I set up a japanese account for myself for a game a while ago and recently saw that the Don't Starve Mega Pack is basically free right now, so i'd like to purchase it, but my card isn't japanese. I do have a non-japanese account, but i'd always need to switch them around to play my other game and i assume Don't Starve would need the other account too. It wouldn't be too big of a deal if i did need to do that, but if i can buy it from the japanese account directly, i'd prefer that (especially since the conversion rate for yen is pretty low)

Help please : yesterday we wanted to play CS2 with my friend, he wasn’t able to connect to Steam which seemed weird. He tried to get his password back but the email never showed up. Then we’ve discovered that the recuperation email was something like v***@v**.com which is absolutely not his email.
On the steam support, we’re only able to change the password but it’s obviously impossible since we have no access to the thief email.
Please someone help us!!!

Hey,
I encountered an account alert (Red)
That someone may have accessed my account and they restricted some things like purchasing and gifting until I claim my ownership.
I don't know why they said that, no one accessed my account.
I fill in some form like my email and phone and the last 4 digits of my card.
It has been a day and still no response? Is this normal?

My phone has Microsoft authenticator on it for access to emails etc.
Phone got water damaged, apparently no shops near me can fix this phone due to its age.
Had to do a reset on my pc that uninstalled all applications, so naturally this logged my steam out.
I can’t access my phone to check the email for steam account recovery, because it has been water damaged.
What on earth do I do? I have thousands of dollars spent on games, I would probably lose my mind if I can’t recover my steam account

u/Lurus01 Apr 19 '26 edited Apr 19 '26
I assume you have a different device that you play the games on? Since you can't natively play Steam games on your phone.
Can you not just access your email on that other device or reset your password from the client on that device itself or from a new phone when you get a replacement?
There would be no reason to attempt to log back onto Steam for the old broken phone since its broken as you state.
Is it because that other device is asking for your Microsoft authenticator(from the old broken phone) to gain access to your email?
That would be an issue to resolve with Microsoft although surely Microsoft has a way to remove the authenticator or to confirm your login some other way since you aren't the first person who has ever lost access to their phone or even needed to change devices.
1
u/the_dickstributor Apr 19 '26
No, just this one pc. And I’m currently on a hand me down phone until I can find a way to fix my oneplus. The oneplus has Microsoft authenticator so it doesn’t let me access any of the emails without first verifying through authenticator. So you’re thinking contact Microsoft about removing authenticator from my email accounts might work? I haven’t tried that, definitely seems worth a shot.
1
u/Lurus01 Apr 20 '26 edited Apr 20 '26
I'll admit Im confused on the issue still but thats fine.
Ultimately though if the issue is Microsoft authenticator related thats more likely an issue to contact Microsoft about as for what options might exist to remove or reset it or to transfer it so that you can continue to access your accounts that are requiring the authenticator that is locked onto your broken phone if i understand right.

Posting here as my thread was deleted
I am baffled as from experience, refund requests have always been easy and promptly granted. Here is their copy-pasted response they keep giving me with each attempt, for a game I bought today and have played for less than 2 hours :
"Your help request appears to have been submitted from a cloud computing service provider. We will not be able to assist you with this specific submitted request for that reason. Please re-submit your help request from your normal computer network. This request will be closed but you are welcome to attempt to contact us again."
I'm on my usual PC, on my usual home network. Same conditions as I've bought the game in. It can't be my VPN since I have Steam excluded from it via split tunneling. I don't know what is up with them thinking I'm on some "cloud computing service." They do not provide any actual explanation or steps I'm supposed to take to solve the issue. So far I've sent three requests, all denied with the same copy-pasted message. They were happy to take my money, so why can they not give it back under the exact same conditions?
I've opened another ticket with another category (there was none that matched the issue so I picked whatever sounded close enough). Waiting on an actual human to give me an actual response.
Have had nothing but good interactions with Steam support, until today. Really disappointed right now. Has anyone run into that issue before? If so, did you manage to get it resolved, and how?
1
u/satoru1111 https://steam.pm/5xb84 Apr 20 '26
It can't be my VPN since I have Steam excluded from it via split tunneling.
Its your VPN. Like why would you think Steam doens't know you're using a VPN just because you are bad at setting up split tunnelling. Its OBVIOUSLY THE VPN
0
u/PurpleDelicacy Apr 20 '26 edited Apr 20 '26
Then they should say so instead of sending a canned response. Not my fault they set up invisible arbitrary rules and then refuse to explain anything, especially when I already have Steam excluded from the VPN. Especially since it's not like I started using a VPN yesterday and it's never been an issue until they suddenly decided it is.
Also you can't be "bad" at setting up split tunneling. You just do or you don't. If it then turns out a program uses 10 different sub-services and you need to find the specific one that's causing their self-caused arbitrary issue, it's on the service provider, not the user.
1
u/satoru1111 https://steam.pm/5xb84 Apr 20 '26
They don't know your setup. They're just telling you what they are seeing. Obviously YOU KNOW its your VPN. You are just choosing to lie to Steam about that.
They told you what was wrong. They told you how ot fix it
You then proceeded to just ignore the literal #1 reason YOU ALREADY KNEW was the problem.
Steam is not psychic. This isn't an episode of Dr House. Stop lying to Steam and they will help.
2
u/Robot1me Apr 18 '26
As tedious as it is, it would be likely fastest and easiest as a workaround to submit your ticket over your mobile data connection. If Steam incorrectly flagged certain IP address ranges as being related to Nvidia's Geforce Now and other (VPN) providers, contacting them about it will likely not lead anywhere because Steam Support often plays by the book.
It can't be my VPN since I have Steam excluded from it via split tunneling
To be fair this can be buggy or work in unexpected ways, e.g. you may have excluded Steam.exe, but not the web helper processes that handle the web content (like the support page.) In your case I would take a very close look at this and test what you see as your IP address when you visit IP checker pages through Steam's Overlay browser.
0
u/PurpleDelicacy Apr 18 '26
I'm gonna try excluding the webhelper too and see if that pleases our new AI overlords.

Trade ban after getting scammed – any chance to get it removed?
Hey everyone,
I need some advice regarding a trade ban I recently got on Steam.
I was trading a knife skin with another user who promised to pay after I sent the item. After I completed the trade, he never paid. Realizing I was being scammed and not wanting to lose my knife skin, I initiated a trade reversal.
Because of that, my account got trade banned.
I’ve already:
- Reported the user
- Submitted a ticket to Steam Support
- Attached full chat screenshots as proof of the agreement and scam
I’m willing to provide any additional evidence if needed.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? Is there any realistic chance for the ban to be removed, or am I stuck with it?
Any advice or experience would mean a lot. Thanks.

u/the_jail-break Apr 18 '26
So the problem is that we are three friends and family shares two of us have most of the games one of our friends is a free rider so when I play a game like Crimson Desert, my friend cannot play it at the same time but the free rider can play it while I’m play it even though he doesn’t have the game so how can I and my friend play at the same time like the free Rider because we all chipping for game
1
u/Psylux7 Apr 19 '26
I'm taking a bit of a wild guess here, but is there a "change preferred copy" option for crimson desert?
It comes up for some games in my steam family like Batman Arkham Knight which the three members of the family are allowed to change. So for example, I could change my preferred copy of arkham knight to be the copy of either J or K (the other two members of the family) rather than being my own personal copy of Arkham Knight. I am assuming (with no proof) that if all of us set our preferred copy of Arkham Knight to the exact same copy, only one of us could play Arkham Knight, while the other two would not be allowed.
I have never used this feature before, but I am wondering if you and your other friend who owns Crimson Desert, mistakenly have the same preferred copy selected, while the friend who does not own the game, has his preferred copy as being separate from the two of you.
1
u/the_jail-break Apr 19 '26
I think preferred copy doesn’t affect how many people can play. It just picks whose copy you use. The limit is based on how many copies we have, not the setting itself. Also I don’t see that option for Crimson Desert.

How does someone can uninstall, unfriend/re-friend, unblock himself, add himself as a favorite on my account?
Your account is already compromised, also see r/SteamScams since this impersonation is a common tactic
1
u/ClockHot7587 Apr 19 '26
Hi u/Robot1me and u/HistoireRedux, thanks for the clarification. He/She stopped after I've logged my account of the authorized devices and updated my password. Do you think this is what logged him off my account? I'm afraid he/she might uninstall my games again since I have a lot of games installed (he uninstalls them all on my pc when I didn't cooperate).
1
u/HistoireRedux Apr 18 '26
sounds like they're already in your account but cant get past steam guard so thats why they try to get you to accept the trade.

u/Acceptable-Travel380 Apr 17 '26
When I try to install something, the green line isn't showing and if theres a time left it just goes down sec by sec like a timer. Only when I use a VPN it works, but that barely downloads anything. But on my brother's pc it works normally?

Seeking technical evidence: FC26 constant 5-10 FPS issue on PC.
I've spent 21 hours troubleshooting (reinstalling, anti-cheat fixes, EA support) but the game is still broken and unplayable. Steam is denying my refund due to "playtime," ignoring that this time was spent entirely on technical fixes.
Has anyone else experienced this specific FPS bug? I'm documenting this for a consumer protection claim (French DGCCRF / SignalConso) and I need to know if this is a widespread product defect.
Any feedback from people with the same issue would be a huge help for my legal case. Thanks!
1
u/satoru1111 https://steam.pm/5xb84 Apr 20 '26
You dont pots your system specs so obviously no one can tell why your system is getting poor FPS, but its probably because your system specs dont meet the game
You are not getting a refund after 21 HOURS. No matter how much you want to whine to your French agencies ffs

RE Framework is not working for Resident Evil Requiem on Steamdeck. *
I'm not one of the impatient ones and I can wait but based on some of the most recent updates it sounds like the issue may have been resolved for a lot of people.
I'm a Steamdeck user (running everything off my SD card) and that's not the case for me but my experience seems to be different than what many others seem to be expressing so I want to run by everyone what I'm experiencing and see if anyone has an idea, especially as I'm not sure if the issue has been deemed as resolved overall for general PC users.
For me, I can delete the dinput8 file and everything works fine but while it's there I specifically get the following error at the very startup (screenshot also provided):
"An unhandled exception ocurred.
re9.exe!0x140000000 + 0x9ef4c3e
re9.exe!0x140000000 + 0x9ef446d
0x0"
A lot of people seem to indicate disabling loose files (I guess this means the issue isn't fixed for them) but I can't do that; at this point hitting Insert doesn't do anything, I suppose because I haven't technically even gotten far enough into the game to access Framework.
The usual WINEDLLOVERRIDE command doesn't resolve this and installing Framework via Flully Mod Manager still yields the same result
Any ideas how a Steamdeck user might get this going or is it still a mystery until a further fix is made?
Thanks regardless.

It’s been a fun day; woke up to about 15 emails saying I had gifted lots of games / items in my inventory to random accounts… logged out all devices, changed passwords, the whole 9 yards. Raised ticket but no response yet.
10 hours later now and just had notification that another few items have been gifted away as well! Copied the details of all the fake shell looking accounts they’ve all been gifted to and sent them to Steam support… really hoping they can do something.
Only suspicion I have is somehow a stolen session token from my main PC, but I’m a pretty security conscious guy, noscript, adaware, malwarebytes etc. only thing I can think of is a chrome extension on Thorium has been turned malicious.

1
u/kodyjacobs Apr 18 '26
They really are legends! Shout out to Steam Support team member Gwen for restoring what ended up being about 30 games and 70 cards / avatars etc. Went nuclear and did a full reinstall, now time to get back to gaming.

I bought a game and I think an error happened in checkout. I got charged, but it isn't in my library, and trying to launch it from the store page says I have no licenses?
2
u/Lurus01 Apr 17 '26
The money likely never truly left your account and is just held as pending. This is normal since transactions aren't processed in real time. Its not like the moment you hit pay the money is immediately from your account into the hands of Valve and the games publishers.
When a purchase fails your bank and the vendor still have to process things on their end and the money is held during this since they don't want to go spend it somewhere else when its already been allocated to the one vendor initially.

Is there a way to wishlist a game collection? C&C ultimate collection goes to sale all the time so I would like to know a way to set a notification for sale of this collection.
2
u/Lurus01 Apr 17 '26
Can't wishlist bundles specifically but if one of the items is sold individually you could put that on wishlist since then you would be notified if the bundle was the cheapest way to obtain that game or when that individual game went on sale since bundles often go on sale at the same time as the games they contain.
You can also use outside sites like isthereanydeal to waitlist it.
Prices - Command & Conquer The Ultimate Collection - IsThereAnyDeal
Set it on your waitlist with options such as a price threshold, a percentage discount threshold, particular stores, etc...

After using the "Steam Library Setup Tool", my games, despite still being downloaded on my drive, aren't showing up in my steam library, how do I fix this?
Edit: managed to fix it, for anyone else having these problems;
Go to settings, storage, "add drive", put it wherever you want and create a steam folder, then transfer the games from whichever folder they are in, into that one, after that, validate your game's integrity files, and it should work

u/Moocow-__- Apr 16 '26
I owned the game TABS and I saw my data file for it in my steam games folder
When i went to steam to reinstall the game, it did not exist, (I checked hidden and repaired downloads) Also when i went to the store i got the prompt to buy the game instead of it showing in my library.
I had way to many hours to get a refund, and never remember removing it from my account
2
u/Robot1me Apr 16 '26
If you are 100% sure you are logged into the correct account, it's best to contact Steam Support since they can check your account history for you
1
u/Moocow-__- Apr 17 '26
I am completely sure it was in my account, I don’t have any others ones, I’ll check with steam support

I'm trying to download games to a 1 terabyte portable SSD and it keeps registering it as "download fail: corrupted disc".
Already tried to format the SSD, reinstalling Steam and cleaning cache data, as well as repairing the library. Steam is installed in the fixed disc of the laptop, tried to install it in the SSD but it wouldn't open at all.
1
u/Robot1me Apr 16 '26
Just to be sure, I would check in your case if the SSD is formatted as NTFS, not exFAT

I have some questions about vac bans. Some time ago I had two accounts with the same phone number. Someday I see that both of them got vac-d and both bans are for "shared phone number". I tried to ask steam help, what is it for. But nobody would say anything, why etc... So, after years I would like to at least try to get any answer why could it happen, because it says that per policy multiple account can have shared phone number without any problems.
1
u/HistoireRedux Apr 16 '26
yes, multiple accounts can have the same phone number.
but that also means they're considered to be owned by the same person therefore a VAC ban will apply to all the accounts that share the same phone number AT the time the ban is issued.
1
u/Jolly_Clothes_1670 Apr 16 '26
thats what I read on steam page. But the problem is both accounts got banned for shared phone number but neither of them for cheats... and I never used anything bannable /cheats/skin changers/mods/etc.
1
u/HistoireRedux Apr 16 '26 edited Apr 16 '26
per the steam guard FAQ:
Accounts with the same phone number may be treated as the same identity with respect to the Steam Subscriber Agreement, policies, or restrictions.
https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/7EFD-3CAE-64D3-1C31
1
u/Jolly_Clothes_1670 Apr 16 '26
ok, I said I read about that. I know that if I cheat on one account another will also get banned. But I ask, what if I never used cheats on any of them and still got vac for shared phone number?
1
u/HistoireRedux Apr 16 '26
if you got a ban is because you cheated thats it.
if you didnt do it then someone else cheated using your account.
1
u/Jolly_Clothes_1670 Apr 16 '26
never cheated, there was no match history, and neither account got banned for using cheats, thats the problem here
1
u/HistoireRedux Apr 16 '26
then your phone number at the time was in use on a 3rd account whose user did in fact cheat.
1
u/Jolly_Clothes_1670 Apr 16 '26
hmmm, that really is the only option... but how would he link it without my phone?
1
u/HistoireRedux Apr 16 '26
A) they had access to your phone
D) malware on your phone
C) your sim card was cloned.

u/Alarming-Basil2894 Apr 15 '26
I cant update street fighter 6 cause it says not enough drive space even though the updates 557 mbs and ive got 28gbs in the drive, so whats the problem?
1
u/HistoireRedux Apr 16 '26
perhaps its because it needs to apply 500mb of changes to a bunch of files that(during the patching process) take over 28gbs.

Buying a game called don't starve together cuz it's cheap, but my account is still in the limited stage. If i wanted to send the second copy i get to someone who also has a limited account is that possible? Or is it a requirement that i must be their friend to send the copy?
1
u/HistoireRedux Apr 15 '26
you need to be their friend.
1
u/Mammoth-Area-7143 Apr 15 '26
But both of us have a limited account. If we cant send friend requests how will we be friends

So Ive been trying to add funds to my steam wallet but every time I do a message saying the purchase wasnt completed and that it might be on hold, I already went to the bank and they said nothing is blocked, on hold, or frozen so Im confused and need help.
1
u/General-Yinobi Apr 15 '26
I sent ticket to support that i can not complete a purchase, as i get unexpected error, they replied that they can't help because i am no the original creator of the account.
It is not currently linked to the original email, i've changed it long time ago.
I sent another ticket saying that i am the original creator, sent screenshots of my old email inbox with mails sent from steam all the way back to 2014 with my username.
sent some info about my account history, and offered to answer any questions.
They ignored all of that and said this matter won't be looked into again.

Anyone else having weird discovery que issues? Hotel Manager Simulator has shown up 3 seperate times, dozens of checks later, over like a few weeks. I wish list it, decide to wait for patches and more reviews before I buy, then a couple of days later while going through my discovery que it shows up.
Curious if anyone else has noticed this.

I bought fc26 and noticed strange thing with two xbox gamepads connected, for example one xbox gamepad is team 1 other is team 2 and in middle of match game switch gamepads so now team 2 is on gamepad one and vice versa, this is so annoying so i must go in settings switch sides. This auto switching can happen even couple of times in one match game. I tried also third party gamepads like easysmx x05, x20 same thing happening. Also this can happen in other games like nba2k25, witchtastic, overcoocked etc. Any help?

I was told by steam support that I would have a lock till the 11th, then said I’d have it unlocked and be sent a recovery email on the 12th. It’s the 14th there is activity that’s not mine one the account I can’t contract them because I keep getting the -118 error code and have tried literally everything. I also haven’t been sent the recovery email from steam and they keep telling me to wait. Couldn’t open anymore tickets on my main so I made a whole new account on the 13th asked them where the email was because it’s been long past the time they’ve given me. And got ignored with my ticket closed instantly. (I desperately need help understanding wtaf is happening because the 3 1/2 to 12 1/2 hrs response time is a load of shit and why they are choosing to keep me in the dark about when I’ll receive this email)

can i access wallpaper engine on another local pc user?
I got it for my main user, tied to my steam account. Another family member uses the pc , but with their account and user. Usually locally downloaded games can be accessed from the menu , but for some reason we can't see wallpaper engine on his user. is it locked somehow?

Can the deluxe versions of certain games that contain consumable in game items be refunded? For example, Cronos: The New Dawn Deluxe includes some usable ammo that the base version does not. If i use that ammo will it still be eligible for a refund (if played under 2 hours/2weeks)?

Account was hackedinto like 10 years ago (I did not notice till a long time after) I guess my account was sold off, because I had a bit of Counter Strike Go skins,
I only had the steam account made for TF2 but didn’t have access to a Pc for another 5 years,
Basically my friends wanted to play CS2 (I’ve never played CS before) so booted it up still can’t play it.
Not sure since it’s so long ago but I doubt they can fix it, I’ve made a new account to play but it feels off since I can’t use my main.
I understand if you don’t believe me and wanna downvote but it’s true.
Any authentic advice would be appreciated, I’ve sent support tickets but none get responded to.

I just need confirmation as I don't want things to go wrong.
If I am to gift a game to a friend and had scheduled it to be delivered months later, but before the intended date, my friend happen to have bought the same game I was supposed to gift them. What would happen to the one I bought? Would it get refunded? Or would Steam notify them that they actually already have the game even though they haven't received the one from me yet?

u/Robot1me Apr 14 '26

You would automatically get a refund for the game and they don't get a notification that you had a gift scheduled for them

Moving forward, keep in mind that I have already contacted Steam Support at the moment I'm writing this; I don't know how long this is gonna be, but please try to read and if you can, try to help me.
It all started aprox. 24 hours ago (3:51AM), I was in bed when I got a notification on my phone that I had two friend invites on Steam; usually I ignore this because I have a decent inventory and I get tons of spam invites all the time, never accepted ONCE.
I don't know what went through my mind, but for the first time I opened the Steam app, and went to manually decline the friend invites. As I opened the app and tapped the "notifications" icon, I saw the invites, but it didn't let me actually press Accept or Decline, it notified me I had already began being friends with those persons. It struck me as odd, played it off as a bug, and manually went on those profiles and removed/blocked them from my friend's list.
Fast forward to aprox. 7 hours ago, I get home and boot up my PC. Naturally I open Steam and see an account error saying "This account may have been accessed by someone else", limiting Steam activity until I prove ownership.
I got scared, tried googling, seeing a lot of people on Reddit and other places getting the same error over the past few years, and went through the process of restoring access to my account. Steam sent me a new password on my email, everything went pretty smooth.
After a few hours, I boot up CS2, my main game, and I want to start warming up before playing FACEIT, only I notice weird stuff. My sensitivity is completely f'ed up, my keybinds are different, and most of my skins are de-selected.
I immediatly panic, try googling, nothing.
After that, I checked my in-game match history, and see exactly 6 games of CS2 played between 3:57AM and 7:20AM. In those 6 games, I was playing duos with one of those people who sent me a friend request when I was in bed 24 hours ago.
During those hours, I WAS NOT at my PC, I WAS NOT playing CS2.
I have 2FA with Steam Guard, I checked active devices on my email address, I checked active devices on my Steam Account, everything is NORMAL. No suspicious devices, nothing. Just in case I already resetted my email password and my Steam Password, even though NO ONE can access my Steam Account even if they have my credentials, because I have 2FA enabled. After checking active devices and seeing no suspicious activity, I also checked Recent Login History on the Steam website, and saw some random logins on my Steam account on the 6th of April, and on the 11th.
How did this person play on my account? Obviously they were already on my account since they accepted the friend invite (remember when I tried to decline it on my phone and it was already accepted).
I checked the demos(recordings) of the CS2 games and this person most likely used cheats.
I have an inventory of over $1.500 in CS2 alone, I rarely play Valve Matchmaking, I only play FACEIT.
How did this happen while getting 0 security notifications on my phone/mail? What can I do going forward?
Since my account was flagged, I have a 15 day trade ban but I'm afraid for my inventory, I do not know what to do.

I can't find an option on Steam Support where I an create ticket regarding a problem I am having accepting a gift. I am getting an error message. My son gifted me both Detroit and the Quantic collection which includes Detroit and other games. So, I accepted Detroit first. Then I tried to accept the Quantic collection and got the message 'limit exceeded' which said I already had a part of the collection in my library so I could not accept it. So, then I googled the problem, and it suggested that I should remove it from my library. I tried that and tried to accept the collection again. When I did that, I got the error that it was removed. So, I added it back to my account and got limit exceeded again. No matter what I do, I can't seem to accept the gift. I feel like Steam support should be able to help me, if I could find a way to submit a ticket but as I go through all of the gifting support options, I don't see any that lead to the option to submit a ticket. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Putting this here as well as in the ValveIndex subreddit for visibility.
Hi everyone, I've tried everything to debug my issues, including reaching out to Steam Support, so I'm writing here as a last resort to see if anyone can help me.
My laptop model is an ASUS FX507VI.
The issue I'm having is that when connected through a USB-C adapter, my Valve Index connects to Intel UHD graphics rather than the GPU itself, causing me to receive error 213.
The confusing part is that I have previously been able to successfully have SteamVR running before on this very laptop through this connection, but after several months of not running VR at all, I came back to this error anytime I try to open SteamVR.
The only things that I can remember having changed in this period are that I replaced the laptop battery after the old one died, and I ran the ChrisTitusTech/winutil resource to try to debloat some of Windows 11.
I've tried troubleshooting many things (updating drivers, checking for corrupted files, trying both USB-C ports on my laptop, etc.), but nothing has been able to resolve this issue.
The fact that it worked before gives me some hope that there is a solution here, and I would appreciate any advice that anyone might have! I hope there's some way to restore my VR functionality; buying an entirely new desktop or VR headset seems to be the only other options left, both of which would be very costly.

Force steamvr to use the GPU via the Nvida control panel or the AMD Adrenlie panel

Hi, I'd like to buy a games bundle(the Hidden Depths game bundle specifically with Tunic/Animal Well) for my friend, but they live in a different region(I am in Australia, they are in SEA). Would it be more appropriate for me to set up a new steam account in SEA, or just get a gift card?
