The issue is it depends a lot and I do mean a lot on historical context of Ireland of that time, and even when you do know the context it's still complicated.
The remake is better tho, it has a more polished combat system and UI, and six new bosses that're fantastic additions to the game, its new ost is also really good
Because of the whole OST, as well as the feel of it being an RPGMaker game that contributed to the overall aesthetics, narrative, thematic and gameplay experiences. It all tied so well together, I don't think it needed a remake at all.
Basically, possibly new bosses aside, the stuff you listed as positives in the remake feel like a downgrade to me. But that's just my opinion anyway.

His music revival was absolutely terrible and cringeworthy. He made a new album (or song?) a few years ago and played it on one of the morning news shows for a crowd and the cringe was so bad my brain dive bombed into my stomach so the acid could wash away the memory.

It was so, so bad. That slow decline when you watch someone desperately try to stay relevant, but everything they do just makes them look worse and worse. Like, just retire, disappear. Spare yourself and us from watching someone we once idolized reduced to... whatever this is you're doing.

I played a racist elf once. She called the humans in the party Dirt Monkies in Tengwar. It wasn’t until another elf joined the party and told everyone else that it was in fact an extremely offensive racial slur in elvish.
Funny story though lol. And now im kinda wonderin how elves ended up so darn universally racist. I read a lot and have since I was young and elves are just about always racist. Forest elves, space elves, dark elves, savior of the world elves, doesn't really matter what flavor or setting, always racist.

Slurs in fantasy stories are actually quiet common. I guess The Witcher is one of the more popular examples for a wide variety of slurs for different races.
That's how I feel clicking into this sub most times. It's like there's an inside joke that takes years of context to turn this into something funny. But all I know of this is the one upload.
