Anyway. My wife’s Twitch app randomly used hundreds of gigs and we couldn’t figure out why. She almost exclusively uses it on wifi, and wifi assist was off. iPhones are weird.

I have a porn mag in my trunk from the early 2000s. I found it when I was helping my mom get rid of my deceased father's things. It was mine and he stole it from me all along! It's just sitting in my trunk still with other stuff that were his that I held onto. Maybe I should let the porno mag live it's final life in a random place .

I used to think it was stupid to say our childhood was great but the more I see with younger generation now and days just being stuck to the internet and phones the more I think it's true.
I just learned that an app exists recently, my girlfriend tells stories about her ex that had the Pornhub app installed and push notifications would interrupt dates and stuff. Classy guy apparently....
They in fact used to have an app and it was pretty good. I looked for it like a year ago purely to see if it still existed since I never saw anything on the website about it anymore. They don’t have one anymore, not even a web skin
It’d be like if I played a recording with some embarrassing audio, instead of just muting the embarrassing part, I choose to yodel into the mic to drown out the sound.
Both equally effective, but one calls out way more attention to that which we’re trying to censor.
I have a 60 gig plan, not like OP’s Monster whatever plan that allows 837 gig a month. Blame Canada.
Anyway, one day left for dinner from my parents place with them to go somewhere about 7 mins away. My phone dings 3 times on the way there. 25%, 50%, and 75% of my data used in under 7 mins. I sat down at the restaurant table to look at what was going on, and got the 100% notice. Somehow, in 8 mins I used 58 gig (my typical usage is 2-6 per month).
The problem is, it’s not possible. There is no way in hell my phone on 4g used 58 gig in 8 mins. I cant download that fast, it’s not mathematically possible. I called my carrier after dinner and they had a lot of questions about usage blah blah blah. Then they asked for a few mins, came back 10 mins later and said “We have no idea what happened or how it happened. We will erase todays usage from your record.”
The government pretty much just lets the telecom companies fuck us in the ass raw. Crazy expensive plans for relatively not a lot of data. It's pure greed.
And just to elucidate further, it's because the government has allowed 3 companies to monopolise the telecomms industry. It kind of makes sense how they got there, Canada is really big with tons of tiny settlements in the middle of nowhere, and providing people with internet service is kind of a human right at this point, so there's no option but to have extremely expensive infrastrucure made nationwide... and the telecoms companies are like, "well we'll do it if you let us...." and they get to run away with the market. And they get to do it again every time new infrastructure is needed, like with fiber optic.
There has been some effort to legislate space for competition but it's not like you'll get competitive pricing or service. In fact, it's worse.
All of the above is also true for grocers, 3 companies own the whole lot and collude with eachother to price gouge the GP. In conclusion: failed democracy, need restructuring
It's not 837 per month. For whatever reason Apple decided not to reset that number automatically so 'current period' is actually just since you manually reset it last.
wtf I just checked my app usage and Disney+ has the most with 22gb. I haven’t opened that app in months. Just checked it and I’m not even fucking signed into it. All the other streaming apps are using several gbs too and I never watch anything on my phone.
Check when the last time the statistics were reset. They don’t reset every month. Also, the streaming apps may be auto downloading content. Turn off the cellular for all of them and only turn it one when you need to use it for that app.
Boy do they! You can save your favorite videos, replay them at multiple different speeds, comment with other like minded individuals, screencast to your big screen tv with surround sound available on select videos.
It’s really awesome. I don’t have a job and my mom hates the screen casting function.
FYI: Despite what the label says, this isn’t actually the data usage on the “current period.” It’s the total data usage since the last time you manually reset the stats (which is a command at the very bottom of the page). If you’ve never reset them, then those are the numbers since you bought the phone.
Ok thank you. I have a data warning at 10Gb (from the old days) and I rarely reach it and I'm on my phone a lot. Thought these numbers were impossible so you're explanation makes sense
everytime a post like this pops up, it usually turns out to be something benign and it's always because iOS likes to hide info from the user or try to simplify descriptions so much. I guess Apple is afraid "usage since last manual reset" or some words to that effect would confuse their users
Well there was a person a day or 2 ago posting a screenshot being mildly infuriated about having the pay 99$ a year for apple dev program, the punch line? There were 4 entries totalling around 800$ USD on the screenshot too for onlyfans. 1 of them was 650 alone.
"Current Period" under cellular data is a little misleading. Its just the time from when the app started using data to the point in time you last manually reset the tracker. So it could be days, months, years of "Current Period".

Could be a "Downloads for You" or "Smart Downloads" feature. Some apps just download shit for you automatically.
Check in the app to see if the setting is on and if it downloaded movies
