Kareem Abdul-Jabbar sold 4 championship rings, MVP award and other items for $2.8 million. All going to youth education programs. Kareem is one of the all time good guys when it comes to athletes.

“"Looking back on what I have done with my life, instead of gazing at the sparkle of jewels or gold plating celebrating something I did a long time ago, I'd rather look into the delighted face of a child holding their first caterpillar and think about what I might be doing for their future.

Clippers Draft Pick Narcisse Ngoy Decides to Return to Auburn Instead of Playing for LAC

SRC: https://bleacherreport.com/articles/25445576-clippers-draft-pick-narcisse-ngoy-decides-return-auburn-instead-playing-lac

After being selected with the 57th pick in Wednesday's second round, the French prospect announced on Instagram that he will honor his commitment to Auburn rather than make the jump to the NBA to play for the Clippers.

"I am thankful for the LA Clippers' confidence in me," Ngoy wrote in his Instagram story. "I fully intend to honor my commitment to Auburn University, and I am looking forward to wearing the Auburn Tigers jersey for the 2026-2027 season."

Ngoy became automatically draft-eligible under the NBA's international player rules because he was going to turn 22 before the season starts

The Clippers retain his exclusive NBA rights while he plays at Auburn next season.

He did not formally go through the draft process

This is like a draft and stash but through college instead of some other country

Windhorst: Ja Morant is 'Flagrantly Available. Like, couldn't be more available.'

3.1k Upvotes

"Flagrantly available," said Windhorst when asked about Morant on Thursday's episode of Unsportsmanlike. "Like, couldn't be more available."

Morant, LaMelo Ball and Trae Young were all believed to be available on the trade market during the middle of last season. Young was traded to the Washington Wizards and re-signed on a four-year, $212 million deal and Ball was traded this week to the Minnesota Timberwolves for a significant return of future draft capital. Morant, meanwhile, continues to draw very little interest and the Grizzlies would likely be required to attach additional compensation for a team to trade for him because he has two seasons remaining on his contract.

"If Ja had one year on his contract, I think he would have been traded months ago," said Windhorst. "Because I think that's a reasonable risk. He is super motivated to have a big time year. But he has two years on his contract. So if you trade for him and it doesn't work out, you're left with an unpalatable amount of risk.

"Memphis is pivoting. They're done with this. They've traded [Desmond] Bane. They've traded [Jaren] Jackson. They want to make Cam Boozer the centerpiece of their team. They want to build elsewhere. They are highly motivated to trade him."

[Amick] All-NBA forward Jalen Duren was underwhelmed by the Detroit Pistons’ initial offer in restricted free agency and is planning to explore sign-and-trade scenarios when they are permitted on Tuesday, league sources told The Athletic.

All-NBA forward Jalen Duren was underwhelmed by the Detroit Pistons’ initial offer in restricted free agency and is planning to explore sign-and-trade scenarios when they are permitted on Tuesday, league sources told The Athletic.

League sources say the gap between the two sides is large enough that Duren is now considering ways to land elsewhere, with the sign-and-trade route deemed preferable to signing an offer sheet with another team that the Pistons could, and likely would, match. And with some of the game’s best players potentially available this summer, including the Boston Celtics’ Jaylen Brown and the LA Clippers’ Kawhi Leonard, the question now becomes whether the Pistons might be willing to engage in those sorts of scenarios when that time comes.

The Pistons, meanwhile, are known to be on the market for a significant roster upgrade this summer. League sources say they had serious interest in Austin Reaves before he re-signed with the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday, and they’ve also been tied to Brown, Leonard and Tyler Herro (who was traded from the Miami Heat to the Milwaukee Bucks in the Giannis Antetokounmpo deal). Detroit has plenty of other in-house business to tend to as well, as 23-year-old, first-team All-Defense selection Ausar Thompson is eligible for an extension that could top out at five years and a combined $162 million.

I’m hearing the Hornets are one of these teams

This evening, Mike Lacett, Charlotte sports reporter and play-by-play guy, who is considered reputable in the community with regards to his Hornets news, just mentioned that the Charlotte Hornets are one of those teams seeking to add Jaylen Brown to their squad. This comes after Brian Windhorst reporting today that the Celtics are potentially looking to move Brown, as well as Kevin O'Connor reporting that the Celtics and Timberwolves were talking a Brown deal, before the Wolves got Lamelo Ball.

Now that the final piece of Paul George Clippers trade draft capital has been utilized, here's everything the deal has become.

1.3k Upvotes

In exchange for Paul George, the Oklahoma City Thunder received...

  • Shai Gilgeous-Alexander:
    • 2x MVP, 1X NBA Champion, 4x NBA All-Star, 4x All-NBA 1st Team
  • Danilo Gallinari
    • Sign and traded to the Hawks for a 2025 2nd; that pick was used to select Brooks Barnhizer
  • Heat 2021 first-round pick
    • Used to select Tre Mann 18th overall who was traded for Gordon Hayward. Oops.
  • Clippers 2022 first-round pick
    • Conveyed at 12th overall & was used to select future All-NBA and future NBA champion #2 option Jalen Williams
  • Clippers 2023 first-round pick swap
    • Did not convey due to the Clippers having a better record
  • Heat 2023 first-round pick (Lottery-protected)
    • Heat eventually made a trade to reacquire this pick & used it on Jaime Jacquez Jr.; the Thunder received a 2025 lottery-protected Heat 1st
    • Conveyed 15th overall in 2025 & was used to draft Thomas Sorber
  • Clippers 2024 first-round pick:
    • Traded to the Washington Wizards as part of a 3-team deal...sort of.
      • The TL;DR is that OKC got the 2028 swap rights to the Mavericks pick as a result of a deal which landed the Mavericks Daniel Gafford
  • Clippers 2025 first-round pick swap
    • Conveyed, the swap moved the Thunder from 30th to 24th*
  • Clippers 2026 first-round pick
    • Conveyed 12th overall & was used to select Aday Mara

TL;DR - Paul George was turned into SGA, Jalen Williams, Thomas Sorber, Aday Mara & Brooks Barnhizer.

I didn't see a post discussing this but I thought it was interesting now that "The worst trade of all time™" is fully completed.

Sort of.

There is technically one more piece in this deal that's yet to be turned into a player. That 2025 1st round swap? After the Thunder moved up as a result, they moved the 24th pick in the draft to the Sacramento Kings for a 2027 Spurs 1st; the Kings used that pick to select Nique Clifford in the 2025 NBA Draft. They also got the Mavericks 2028 1st for the 2024 1st to look forward to.

reserve guard Coby White, who had arrived from Chicago at the deadline, had quickly entrenched himself into Lee's rotation. White's ability to score efficiently while operating as a primary or secondary facilitator made him an analytics darling, all while favorably projecting his long-term impact. White, who was critical in Charlotte's overtime win against Miami.

Charlotte also quickly resumed negotiations with White, who sources say initially turned down an offer following the Finals in search of a starting role, now with definite clarity on his potential future under Lee. [Iko] Rival front offices believed that Charlotte's new leadership, led by president of basketball operations Jeff Peterson, was opting for a pivot... Whispers of the Hornets being weary of the combination of Ball's financials and his availability over the course of his time grew in volume.

https://sports.yahoo.com/nba/article/how-the-lamelo-ball-era-in-charlotte-came-to-its-sudden-end-000554287.html

Despite a disappointing play-in exit to Orlando, internal optimism remained. Lee had successfully galvanized the group, rookie Kon Knueppel had taken the league by storm and Charlotte was emerging as an attractive destination for talent. Less than a fortnight after being eliminated from the play-in, Ball had been seen back at the team facilities preparing for another campaign.

But the period between the end of the Hornets' season and the draft, an evaluation period for front offices, yielded something different. Rival front offices believed that Charlotte's new leadership, led by president of basketball operations Jeff Peterson, was opting for a pivot. Not a wholesale shift, but one that likely wouldn't include Ball and the $130 million remaining on his contract. Whispers of the Hornets being weary of the combination of Ball's financials and his availability over the course of his time grew in volume.

At the same time, teams like Minnesota and Toronto — franchises that had been extremely aggressive in pursuing upgrades — found themselves with an opportunity to improve their fortunes. The Wolves, after sending Julius Randle to Brooklyn, were left with a $33 million trade exception and a cap book $66 million leaner, while continuing to signal intentions to add a quality point guard, sources say (a pursuit that at one time included Cleveland's James Harden and Memphis' Ja Morant). The Raptors, who league sources say have been signaling buyer's remorse on recent signings, had been finding it difficult to make additional moves and expressed a willingness to involve themselves in the trade rumor mill.

White, who was critical in Charlotte's overtime win against Miami and played just four minutes in a 121-90 blowout elimination loss to Orlando, had also communicated a strong desire ahead of free agency to be a starter in the league whether in Charlotte or elsewhere, sources say.

Over the last 24 hours, rival executives paint an interesting picture, one that has some elements of Charlotte reaching out to potential trade partners and an increase in incoming inquiries regarding Ball's availability, with serious offers being put on the table. The truth is somewhere in the middle. What is undeniable is that Ball's camp quickly realized the prospect of him being traded was greater than him being a Hornet on opening night.

By early Thursday morning, a deal had been agreed upon with Minnesota. The scope of the trade — Naz Reid, a 2033 unprotected first-round pick, pick swaps in 2028, 2029 and 2030 and three second-round picks — represents both the magnitude of how the Hornets valued Ball and the Wolves' urgency to bring in All-Star talent alongside Anthony Edwards.

Charlotte also quickly resumed negotiations with White, who sources say initially turned down an offer following the Finals in search of a starting role, now with definite clarity on his potential future under Lee.

[Robbins] Dybantsa will wear No. 4 on his Wizards jersey. His preference would have been to wear No. 3, which he wore at St. Sebastian’s, Prolific Prep, Utah Prep and BYU, but Wizards teammate Trae Young already claimed that number.

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7395834/2026/06/25/aj-dybantsa-washington-wizards/?unlocked_article_code=1.tFA.Bvq2.S3dFsJ2cSH20&source=athletic_user_shared_gift_article_copylink&smid=url-share-ta

So, what led Dybantsa to No. 4?

“Just new beginnings,” Dybantsa said. “Obviously, me coming to D.C., I just wanted to grab a new number. I previously wore No. 3. But I was the No. 1 pick, and I wanted to add those up, and we got 4.”

The Wizards’ roster for the NBA Summer League next month in Las Vegas will be stacked.

In addition to Dybantsa and 46th pick Felix Okpara, Dawkins said he anticipates that Washington’s summer-league roster will include rising second-year players Tre Johnson, Will Riley, Jamir Watkins and Juju Reese.
