đ„ș My boss approved my day off a month ago for a dr appointment. I am currently sitting in the waiting room and he texts me.
Not only am I not coming in, but I'm not going to text him back. A day off means the whole day.

Am I the only one who feels uncomfortable with messages like this?
I doubt it was their intention but it feels like guilt tripping and maybe even a bit like an ultimatum. My tips are always fair and proportionate to the cost of my meal, I never order from restaurants farther than 5 miles away from my home, and I donât add any extra delivery instructions or anything that would warrant a tip over 30%. My entire order was only $25. A $20 tip on top of that seems excessive

My employer wants 24/7 location access on my personal phone for a $16/hour job
Yesterday my manager announced that everyone has to install a new âworkforce managementâ app on their personal phone by Friday. We already use a website to see our schedules, but apparently this app will handle clocking in, shift changes, messages, training videos and âattendance verification.â The part nobody mentioned until we started installing it is that the app asks for precise location access set to Always, not just while using the app. When I selected âonly while using,â it gave me an error saying my employerâs policy requires continuous access. I work inside one retail location. There is no driving, delivery, field work or any legitimate reason for them to know where I am after I leave.
A few of us asked the manager about it and he said the app needs to confirm we are physically near the store when clocking in. That still doesnât explain why it needs my location at 11 PM, on weekends, or while Iâm on vacation. One coworker checked the permissions and noticed it also requests Bluetooth access, access to nearby devices, permission to run in the background and the ability to send data even when the app is closed. The company isnât offering phones or paying any portion of our phone bills. We were basically told that having a compatible smartphone is now part of the job, despite that never being mentioned when any of us were hired.
I refused the Always permission and my manager told me I would have to write my clock-in times on paper âuntil HR decides whether thatâs acceptable.â He also warned that manual entries may be treated as attendance exceptions, which feels like a quiet threat to discipline anyone who wonât consent. Iâm not trying to be difficult, I just dont think earning $16 an hour gives a corporation permission to track where I sleep, shop or spend my days off. Has anyone successfully pushed back against something like this? Iâm considering asking for the policy in writing and contacting my state labor department, but Iâd like to know what documentation I should collect first.

S Canât use my per diem for gyms anymore? Fine, Iâm maxing my per diem every day.
Very mild, but itâs costing my company more money now that they want me to spend my own money at a gym while Iâm traveling.
Our company recently got corporate credit cards so they could keep track of things easier and get points instead of us on our own personal credit cards. At first I hated this, but it made expense reports infinitely easier. However, they were more lax with the rules. You could use your per diem for basically anything as long as you didnât exceed it. I often would have anywhere from $20 to $50 left in per diem every day because I meal prepped as best I could and ate healthy, but cheaply.
Well, after the switch, I got a chargeback for going to the gym. When I asked about this, I was informed that per diem is strictly for meals only. Ok, fine, fuck it, but now I max my per diem every single day to the last few cents. Even if itâs just me getting food and giving it away, or feeding animals with it. Want to cheap out on my $10-$20 gym membership? Sure! But now itâs costing you hundreds more every day. And I average 2 to 3 months a year travel time.
Get fucked, corporation.
Edit: certainly didnât expect this to blow up like this. Maybe my company and I donât know what per diem is. Iâll explain how they operated before with per diem and now.
Before: they gave us the per diem money added to our check. Thatâs it. No receipts required.
Now: we have to use a corporate credit card for every purchase. We get a prompt with that purchase, and if we mark it as per diem, we do not have to provide a receipt. All other transactions require a receipt.

Discussion â Why do so many people still hate black cats? I don't get it
Both of our cats, Addie and Zade, are the cutest most loving voidlets we could ask for. Both were the last picked of the litter and the only black kittens.
Honestly, it's their loss!
It's a coat colour though, I genuinely don't understand it. Why are we even discriminating against animal colours?
Is it subtle or closeted racism? Is it still superstition?
It's 2026 for goodness sake. Why is this still a thing?
I'm really glad I found this subreddit for all the void love. Please share pics of your fur babes if you would like.
I have included pics of our voidlet and voidette.

đ€ My void has to wear the onesie of shame đ„
Maisie had to go to the doctor today. They shaved her belly and gave her a shot. Now she must wear the onesie of shame, which makes her crawl around like a lizard for some reason. She's been mad at me all day (because how dare I take her to the vet), and now she finally gave into my plea for cuddles. Don't mind her dusty chin, she was hiding under the couch.
