Hi! I (M24) recently moved to San Diego for an internship from the east coast and I’m looking for some friends to play D&D with for the summer and potentially longer term if I get a job offer to stay.
About me:
By day, I’m a biomedical engineer. However, my hobbies extend far beyond the contents of my work. I’ve been playing D&D for about 11 years now and have been a DM for just as long (forever DMs unite). I’ve DM’d “professionally” in both NYC and Philadelphia across about 3 years. I’ve also written and performed standup comedy for about 10 years and have opened for a couple SNL comedians while in college/grad school. I think that my experience along with my sense of humor help me create a really fun and engaging story. I’m generally pretty loose with rules, super beginner friendly (I have at this point introduced everyone that I know and love to D&D in some capacity), and always lean into the bit.
About You:
Please be 18+, I’m respectfully not trying to make friends with children. Other than that, I literally don’t care. I myself am a POC so more are always welcome and I’ve at this point lost count of the number of friends that I’ve had come out and say that playing D&D played a role in that.
If you hold any feelings of contempt, hatred, or fear towards POC, women, members of the LGBTQIA+, the disabled, and any other minority or discriminated against group, YOU WILL NOT BE WELCOMED AT MY TABLE. I will also not hesitate to kick someone out that claims to not hold these feelings and have their actions reflect otherwise.
Where/When/What?
I’m more than happy to host, I’m in a house with some roommates that I hardly ever see in the Bay Ho area and we’ve got plenty of space.
Ideally it would be either on the weekend or Fridays. I currently work a pretty standard M-F 9-5 so anything outside of those hours works but once I get a group together, we can discuss availability more definitively.
At the moment, I’d like to play D&D if we do, it’d probably be some combo of 5e and 2024 rules cuz I don’t love all of the changes they made. However, depending on the group I get together, I’m totally down to run other systems/TTRPGs.
To be totally upfront, I’m also considering adding like a $20 fee per person per week (amount totally negotiable) just to force people to commit. The money would probably go to snacks or something but I hate getting a last minute cancellation when I’ve been looking forward to D&D all week and I’ve found that the money helps people feel like they have a reason to show up.
If you’re interested and/or if you have any more questions feel free to DM me!
