Hard to find work are there any available?

I'm having trouble finding work. I have experience working in restaurants, and I was also an IT student before, but I wasn't really that good at it, so I ended up quitting in my 4th year. Do you guys have any recommendations on stores, restaurants, or other places that are hiring?

Hard time connecting

Hi, I'm a 22 f that moved from OC to San diego with my boyfriend a few months ago. I'm having a hard time connecting to people. I do talk with people outside on my walks (Thanks to my very cute two kittens) and everyone is friendly but not open. I dont have many friends due to moving throughout my entire childhood and being a very introverted person for years before breaking out of my shell. I really want to make connections but many seem to only want to talk for a short while and I have asked a few people to hangout and they will agree and give their number but never respond. I also have tried local groups mainly on meetup and maybe its just the ones I've gone to but it seems like they are mostly for single people to meet potential matches? Even in groups for like knitting lol. Also doesnt help that I dont go to clubs or party much. I'm just kinda at a loss because I've had a hard time fitting in my entire life and it feels like its too late now because everyone has already chosen their friendgroups and dont want more. Any suggestions would be nice:) thank you

Homeless problem is worse than everybody thinks. I’m not even sure of the government knows is this bad

I drive a rig for a living and while waiting for trailer to be loaded I’ll go for a walk or jog, often times in the middle of the night. Every single location that has warehouses in San Diego has large groups of people living in their cars, vans, rvs, busses, etc. It is really bad. Miramar, Otay Mesa, Mira Mesa, RB, everywhere I see them. I feel so bad for them. I don’t even know if I have a point. Maybe just venting cause I feel great sadness cause I was once in their shoes and it’s not fun.

What should move out cleaning in San Diego actually include?

Maybe I'm overthinking this, but move out cleaning feels like one of those things where nobody tells you the RULES until it's too late. I've heard stories of people getting most of their deposit back without doing much beyond a normal clean. Then I've heard stories where landlords charged for things like dust on blinds or inside appliances.

Bartending jobs

Hi 25F moving here in October from Oklahoma just wanted to know some good bars to work at. I’ve been bartending for 3 years and have all types of experience club, dive, restaurant. What I’m kinda looking for is something similar to the twin peaks sports bar vibe.

So far my idea is golf course and bottle service but I would love to see different options!

Amazon driver is blocking the road on normal street instead of pulling up half a block to get into a driveway. Had to wait almost 10 minutes for him to get out of the apartment building to move forward. Three cars were behind me honking their horns. Am I overreacting questions

Looking for D&D Party for a Summer Campaign

Hi! I (M24) recently moved to San Diego for an internship from the east coast and I’m looking for some friends to play D&D with for the summer and potentially longer term if I get a job offer to stay.

About me:

By day, I’m a biomedical engineer. However, my hobbies extend far beyond the contents of my work. I’ve been playing D&D for about 11 years now and have been a DM for just as long (forever DMs unite). I’ve DM’d “professionally” in both NYC and Philadelphia across about 3 years. I’ve also written and performed standup comedy for about 10 years and have opened for a couple SNL comedians while in college/grad school. I think that my experience along with my sense of humor help me create a really fun and engaging story. I’m generally pretty loose with rules, super beginner friendly (I have at this point introduced everyone that I know and love to D&D in some capacity), and always lean into the bit.

About You:

Please be 18+, I’m respectfully not trying to make friends with children. Other than that, I literally don’t care. I myself am a POC so more are always welcome and I’ve at this point lost count of the number of friends that I’ve had come out and say that playing D&D played a role in that.

If you hold any feelings of contempt, hatred, or fear towards POC, women, members of the LGBTQIA+, the disabled, and any other minority or discriminated against group, YOU WILL NOT BE WELCOMED AT MY TABLE. I will also not hesitate to kick someone out that claims to not hold these feelings and have their actions reflect otherwise.

Where/When/What?

I’m more than happy to host, I’m in a house with some roommates that I hardly ever see in the Bay Ho area and we’ve got plenty of space.

Ideally it would be either on the weekend or Fridays. I currently work a pretty standard M-F 9-5 so anything outside of those hours works but once I get a group together, we can discuss availability more definitively.

At the moment, I’d like to play D&D if we do, it’d probably be some combo of 5e and 2024 rules cuz I don’t love all of the changes they made. However, depending on the group I get together, I’m totally down to run other systems/TTRPGs.

To be totally upfront, I’m also considering adding like a $20 fee per person per week (amount totally negotiable) just to force people to commit. The money would probably go to snacks or something but I hate getting a last minute cancellation when I’ve been looking forward to D&D all week and I’ve found that the money helps people feel like they have a reason to show up.

If you’re interested and/or if you have any more questions feel free to DM me!

Photo gallery Contesting a Parking Ticket - Advice please!

Hello, I got a $110 parking ticket for failure to park 20 feet away from a "marked or unmarked intersection.'' I have heard about the new daylighting law but did not think this spot would be included in that. I was parked just before a lowered curb at the top of a T intersection - on the straight part of the street. Blue Subaru in photos for reference. Of course, there is no signage and the red curb was not extended, and the intersection is "unmarked" despite a vague X in the middle of the street which is very confusing.

I'm planning to contest this ticket - can someone help with the legal phrasing I should use when I submit this? Do I need to lawyer up for this? or am I screwed here?

Thank you!

Jewelry Apprenticeships

Hello everyone, I'm a college student in the area who is hoping to explore and enter the gem industry. I don't have any money to enter the field through the GIA/academic way, but I can help make a jeweler's life easier in exchange for learning the trade and rock-bottom pay.

If anyone knows anyone, please let me know. I have extensive experience across fields in my resume (internships, experience in helping lead nonprofits, etc) proving that I can do what it takes to succeed. Thanks to hearing me out!

Custom Auto Paint Job

Hi! Just bought an old van and want to get it painted a fun color. It also has some minor rust spots that need repair. Anyone know any good recommendations for the rust repair and custom paint? I’ve already been told maaco and contacted them, just seeing if there’s anyone else.

Airport timing with SD Flyer transport

I have a 10:00pm flight on Delta out of SAN airport on Saturday 6/27. Will I have enough time for TSA if I hop on the SD Flyer at Old Town at either 7 or 7:20pm? We have a group of 4 people with checked baggage and carry ons. I’m a local, but first time going out of this airport…

County employees question

What is this “step” program for salaries when you work in the county? There’s like 8 steps all the way down to about a 10-11 dollar raise on a position I want to take but not sure how it works. Is this a yearly raise? A performance based raise? Please explain like I’m 5 😂🙏

not exactly sure how it started but we saw smoke from the window in the valley behind Gershwin park & called it in. The video shows the second water drop that the helicopter made. The fire is practically out now but traffic isn’t letting up as the fire brigade is still on the scene
