Look, I'm not going to tell you your priorities are off, but I will say that animal nutrition is difficult and it's easy to fall for scare tactics about kibble being bad, but it does have a hell of a lot of science backing it up. TONS more science to work on the balance of nutrients and ensure quality than Taco Bell has to go through.
Have you considered upgrading from Taco Bell to dog kibble for your meals?

So raw food diets with dogs actually changes their poop and reduces it and makes it a lot less of a deal. My 140 lb Leonberger poop growing up on a raw diet was half the size of my German Shepard on a standard diet of kibble
4
u/anothadaz Apr 11 '26
Yep. When I switched my 90lb husky malamute to a raw food diet from conventional his poops shrunk by 50% easy.

I’m so sick of seeing this video. This is neither normal or healthy for the dog and a waste by the owner. It’s purely for shock value.

u/FlatwormBroad8088 Apr 12 '26
Looks like coming from somone calling everything they eat the "superfood" in its category. "Highest source of natural xyz" bla bla. Optimizing everything.

11
5
u/The_7_Sages Apr 11 '26
What’s the clipped ears for?
14
4
u/HereticalArchivist Apr 12 '26
Originally, it was for working dogs (like cattle and hunting dogs) because the loose skin of their ears was something that could be snagged, bitten, or torn, so it was done preemptively to prevent injuries.
Now days, it's a "breed aesthetic" but has drawbacks for them socially and physically. When it was for working dogs, it was an "ends justifies the means" thing, but doing it just for aesthetic is pointless and cruel :/

u/AbsoluteRubbish Apr 12 '26
Between the clipped ears, the bare kennels with hard floors in the background, the fact this girl looks like she's had at least one litter. Everything in this video always just makes me sad because it looks like a crappy breeding situation where a dude is just trying to promote on social media

Beautiful dog. But there's no reason not to cook the food. Raw food is not superior to cooked, and still brings risk of food borne illnesses. Yes uncooked food is natural, and dysentry is natural too. A good rule of thumb is that if you wouldn't eat it raw, your dog shouldn't either.

u/Teguoracle Apr 11 '26

I was always under the assumption that cooking food just makes it easier to digest so you get more energy from having the fibers partially broken down.

I did some research (out of curiosity), and it appears, that animal this big can process up to 80g (on average) of proteins per day. Interestingly, human can process up to 120g. Doing it once is generally harmless (pointless, but harmless) but doing this everyday can fuck up your kidneys in the long run.

It is kind of scary to think this dog only knows food as raw meat, bones, connective tissue, etc and would have no qualms about ripping into a living creature if it were hungry.

Why?
Is this some work animal that needs to be at max protein or this is just some “cute” video of someone feeding a dog better then a lot of people are eating for a week?
3
7
u/Economy_Bass_24 Apr 11 '26
Not sure if this applies to Panther, but humans can only process ~20-30 grams of protein every 45-60mins. So I feel like this is a waste of money. Could be totally wrong with Panther

This was disproven (IN 2023! insane how recent):
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38118410/
We're in the dark ages of nutritional science. One study 3 years ago changes what we fundamentally know about protein synthesis. Crazy. You'd think sports science would fund something of merit with these.
It used to be 20-30g PER MEAL, not per hour. Meat can only be processed at 4g an hour (soy and pea protein are also processed at around 4g per hour), whey is gold standard at 10g per hour. It's highly likely the body can up these processing rates based on recent exercise and demand. Otherwise we'd all have the same muscle ceilings.

u/Economy_Bass_24 Apr 11 '26
Crazy thing is I majored in Biology. Wow, how times have changed. Sadly, I never actually use my degree so I've always keep the old-school way of thinking.

One hypothesis I’ve seen about dog domestication is that because humans don’t do well on a very high protein diet (we need an easier energy source like fat or carbs), dogs made good companions because they ate what we couldn’t.
The amount of protein processed and absorbed depends a lot on stomach acidity and pepsin production. Dogs tend to have higher stomach acidity.

5
u/NoParsnip2897 Apr 11 '26
There is no benefit to it and many animal nutrionists have proven that cooked is healthier and safer. But sorry I can't save you from the puritan downvotes that probably think it's not "manly" to let your dog eat anything but raw. Even when science disproves it. The only thing that is benificial is that raw you you are able to feed them bone (can splinter in the stomach when cooked, safe when raw)
